The Barn Café Hackescher Markt

I tried the flat white, and although the price was above average, I really didn’t like the taste. The coffee was weak and slightly bitter—possibly due to the beans they use or their roasting style—but it had a burnt, almost plastic-like aftertaste. For this price, you can find far better coffee in Berlin. There’s really no need to give this place a try. The interior is also not comfortable for sitting; there are only stools, and they’re quite uncomfortable. On top of that, there’s no restroom available either.

The atmosphere is nice, coffee was bitter and over extracted. I used to buy the barn beans back in Canada, so I thought it won't hurt to give it a visit on my trip. Coffee was way over extracted and bitter. Flat white temperature was not right either. Overall, a very poor experience. I could not drink my coffee after the second sip. It looks like when specialty coffee becomes franchised, its no longer special!

We came when they were closing & asked if we can still order, the answer was only to go which was understandable.The staff were unhappy & looked at each other rolling their eyes when I was trying to choose from the options they had(no ice). At this point don’t take orders anymore then act like that. For the price they offering latte & cappuccino was horrible.

This was the worst coffee shop in my life. I stopped by because The Barn is famous for its coffee, but the coffee tasted like I was drinking garbage, and I couldn't drink more than two sips. And the staff would giggle and snicker for no reason, glaring at customers and whispering. I ordered a cappuccino and a flat white, but they didn't even provide a small spoon or napkin, and they didn't even wipe the table. And my daughter ordered a Matcha latte, but they said it was sold out, but they sold the Matcha latte to the next customer. This is the worst cafe that rips off its customers, and I can say with certainty that it's garbage coffee that I would never drink even if someone paid me for it.

At least I had a laugh. It was a super hot day when I was looking for a refreshment - Iced coffee would be great! So I entered the closest option in that moment: the barn. One iced americano to go please. - that will be 4,10€ please. - kindly hands me my iced americano few minutes later The iced americano: 😅 In german one would say - frech.

I am a regular. The coffee is fantastic - I always take some beans home. Every barista there makes a killer coffee beverage; they are properly trained and passionate about it. The cakes and snacks are always high quality and pair perfectly with the coffee. I must highlight the service as well. Everyone is always kind and friendly, and I am happy to keep coming back. Special mention goes to Frank and Greg (the latter returning to Australia; he will be missed). My only complaint about this shop is that it doesn’t have a toilet, this is always such a bummer.
