The Barn Tokyo

I want to start my review by stating that the staff were absolutely lovely at The Barn Tokyo and went above and beyond to help us situate ourselves and make us comfortable! We had ample clean linens and towels in our room. That being said, this hotel is more hostel like than the description led us to believe. The bathroom set up was a bit strange, the sink was in the bedroom so if you were to use the bathroom in the night it would wake up whomever you were sharing the room with. Our shower had a lock on the outside of the door rather than the inside, which didn't bother us but would be worth mentioning if you're sharing with someone. The beds were quite hard in comparison to some of the other locations we stayed at during our time in Japan. Some positives however was the close proximity to a subway station and some tasty local restaurants nearby.

We had an amazing stay at The Barn Tokyo and loved everything about it. The location was ideal for us — not in a busy touristy area, but in a quiet, residential neighborhood where you get a glimpse of local life. It's only a short walk to the train station, and there are convenience stores, restaurants, and a Life supermarket within walking distance. The hotel itself is spotless and well-maintained. The rooms are a bit spacious compared to typical hotel rooms in Japan. But what really made our stay extra special was the staff. The two Filipino staff on duty during our stay were friendly, accommodating, and made us feel at home. We’ll definitely be coming back to The Barn Tokyo for our next visit.

The property is tucked away on a quiet street in beautiful Asakusa. It was easily walkable from the train station, simple to find, and had plenty of food and convenience stores (konbinis) close by. The property itself is new, very clean, and the staff is quite friendly and accommodating. I was treated to a delivery of hot tea upon settling in my room! I did find the rooms to be on the small side, everything in Tokyo is except the skyscrapers! But, the rooms were ample enough for 1-2 people. The bed was comfortable for a Japanese bed, as they tend to be quite hard. I personally have back problems and the bed was comfortable enough for me. Soft and hard pillows are offered. I found the price point to be excellent if you are in need of comfortable, clean, yet simple accommodations. The location is excellent! I would stay here again.

Honestly one of the most ridiculous hotel experiences I’ve had. I accidentally booked the wrong month — totally my mistake — but with a full month of notice in Tokyo, one of the busiest cities in the world, you’d think fixing it would be no big deal. Instead, the receptionist offered me the room at the full current price, which was much higher, while conveniently forgetting to mention any reasonable option like just paying the difference. She also told me she “couldn’t guarantee” a refund for my original booking, so obviously I didn’t want to risk paying twice. I started looking for a cheaper hotel instead. And here’s the best part: only after I decided to leave did she inform me that the refund would be completely refused. Perfect timing. Then came their so-called “commercial gesture”: a 30% fee charged to me. Yes — their idea of helping was literally charging me more. Truly outstanding customer service. 😂 Zero transparency, zero flexibility, and absolutely no willingness to assist. Even a simple, common-sense solution — like paying only the difference — would have fixed everything. But apparently that was too much to ask. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

The room is pretty spacious, modern, and clean. The service was great, very friendly and helpful. Amazing location, super close to bus stop and JR line. They don't offer Ta-Q-Bin luggage delivery set but you can do it at the 7 eleven a few blocks away.

So far this was my favorite hotel on my trip. Staff was helpful and amazing and the room i had was clean and spacious me being 6’1 the shower i had was huge i fit perfectly. I also liked the area close to the train station and good food is only a few steps away. Every ally looked like a movie set very photogenic.

Great service and good walking location from the metro. Our stay was comfortable. My only issue is The room has a thin sliding glass door for the bathroom which doesn’t provide much privacy

I was in this Hotel last year and i was very happy with my stay. The only reason why i am giving only 2 stars is due to the fact that i cannot get in touch with the hotel staff because i want to plan my next visit this year again at this hotel and i need to clarify some things beforehand. There is an official contact form on the website which i used 3 times already. I also wrote 2 Mails directly to the Hotel. And i even tried to call them from Germany about 7 times. And i did not get even 1 Reply. I am very sad especially since i was told last year that i can get in touch with them very easily for future references. I hope that with this Review the Service will be better in terms of answering customer requests. Update 02.11.2025: Thank you for your reply.
