We had a great stay at The Barnacle Inn. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is unbeatable. Just one block from Main Street, we were able to walk to all the nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions—yet the inn is tucked back just enough to feel quiet and peaceful. We especially enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning and the afternoon cookies on the outdoor porch and patio. It’s the perfect mix of charm, convenience, and comfort. You can tell the owners of this family-run property truly care about the inn and their guests. We’ll absolutely be staying here again on our next trip to Nantucket.

This was my first time staying at the Barnacle Inn and certainly won’t be my last. I simply cannot say enough great things about Susie, Phil and the rest of the staff. From the moment I checked in, Suzie and her staff provide you with a sense of ease and respite. The staff is incredibly kind, thoughtful and engaging. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room, well stocked toiletries, refreshments and fresh fruit available in the lobby and the at-home feel of homemade cookies and made-to-order breakfast in the charming courtyard patio. The Inn’s location feels incredibly central, just a block away from Main Street and certainly made our stay enjoyable as we were able to walk to both the welcome party and wedding we were in town for. Although the Inn’s proximity is close to town, you are in a serene, peaceful and quiet environment. In a world where most hotel experiences feel transactional, the Kiendl family and their likeminded staff work incredibly hard to make you feel like family and to ensure that your experience is exceptional. I look forward to staying at the Barnacle Inn next time I’m on the island!

Google
Good location. This is nepotism at its finest. The over sized owner has no idea to properly run an Inn and was given this one by his Dad. The rooms are odd and the breakfast was below average. This guy should sell and let someone else run the hotel more smoothly

We had a very pleasant stay. Even though we were using a “shared bathroom,” we never found ourselves waiting to use it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were delicious (homemade muffins and biscuits - even catering to our gluten free request), and the accommodations were very comfortable. The location (being right in the center of town) was also fantastic. We would definitely recommend this place to stay and would return.

Amazing experience at the Barnacle Inn. Location is walkable. The mini fridge along with the garden patio allow for a nice reprieve for an afternoon drink/snack and a break from the high Nantucket prices. Having gone to Nantucket my whole life the ability to supplement some food and drink can really help offset trip costs. I booked for my girlfriends birthday specifically because she has a chocolate cookie addiction and the Phil makes scratch cookies every afternoon - Did not disappoint: exceptional cookie, We ate far too many. ||Susie and Phil run the Barnacle with heart and it is evident in everything from the thoughtful breakfast to the cleanliness of the rooms. I’ve stayed at a number of hotels on the island and while the Barnacle may not be the flashiest spot it was my best experience to date. Quintessential Nantucket.

I can't say enough good things about the Barnacle Inn. I planned a getaway trip for the end of Sept, just the two of us without our young toddlers, for my husband's 40th birthday and stayed here Monday through Friday. We had SUCH an amazing time, all thanks to our wonderful hosts and the great B+B itself! Here are the things I loved the most: 1) Location - this place is only 2 blocks from the top of downtown Nantucket - you can walk to all the shops, restaurants, ferry, museums, and even to a couple of beaches! 2) Service/Hosts - it wasn't just a place to stay, the hosts were ALWAYS there to answer our questions and help us figure out a plan for the day and where to go. They were kind, fun to talk to, and always had a plate of freshly baked cookies available. Even though we booked a small room without a bathroom (for $199/night special deal), they actually gave us a large choice of which room to stay in when we arrived since there was a storm and a few folks had to cancel - so we ended up getting a great room upgrade! 3) Quaint environment - really enjoyed having breakfast in the courtyard every morning, and one day we had a free afternoon so my husband went shopping by himself while I sat in the courtyard reading in the sunshine. I feel really lucky that I was able to book the Barnacle Inn and for the low price that I got. It was a great deal that is most likely unmatched anywhere on the island, and I honestly cannot wait to find another excuse to come back (hopefully next time it will be in the summer and not fall)!

Google
Perfect place to stay in Nantucket. We stayed at many establishments in Nantucket, and this one stands out for the following reasons: Location (closer to everything while still quite and secluded), comfort, how well the place is kept, how clean everything is including outside areas which have comfortable and lux seating options. The hosts are very nice and obviously thoughtfull considering the quality and tastefulness of the yummy breakfast trays, the vaeriety of toiletries they inlude in the rooms, and little nice things like incredibly tasty chocolate chip cookies later in the day. Would recommend to stay here!

The Barnacle Inn is a true treasure! I had a fantastic stay and took full advantage of relaxing in the garden & the close proximity to downtown. I opted for a single bed with private bath. My room and bed were very comfortable, the continental breakfast always included freshly baked pastries, fresh fruit, cheese, & yogurt. The location is fantastic, the rooms are comfortable, but the best part is the staff. The Inn Keepers, Suzie & Phil are absolutely terrific! They are so friendly, accommodating, and have all the recommendations you ask for. I felt like I was visiting my favorite Aunt & Uncle! I highly recommend staying at the Barnacle Inn!

Yelp
Great cozy inn with fantastic service and ultra clean accommodations. Walking distance to downtown and properly priced. Suzie and Sumaya exceed all expectations. I'll be staying there every time I return to the island.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Barnacle Inn. A friend and I stayed there June 2023 for 5 days. Inn, staff so inviting. This Inn and the rooms are very clean, historical, charming. Breakfasts are delicious, plenty to eat with unending coffee and tea available as well. We really lucked out with the Barnacle Inn and will be back. The location is a half block from Main St. ideal.

Yelp
We hadn't heard of the Barnacle Inn before but it became a lifesaver for us on a weekend where every other hotel was completely booked. Barnacle Inn was wonderful- the amazing owner Susie made sure the stay was great. The room and breakfast were perfect, couldn't have asked for anything more! We will be back.

Yelp
Lovely inn with nautical touches and a comfortable environment. The breakfast is amazing and the hospitality was wonderful! I recommend having breakfast each morning on the front patio. My Mom and I are thankful we chose to stay here!

Yelp
What a lovely, relaxing place to stay! Filled with lovely, little touches that brought me joy. This inn brought me the refreshing breeze through my windows (they have AC but wasn't needed late August,) soft sheets, delicious cookies every afternoon, and a lovely porch to eat breakfast on overlooking the front yard and beautiful Tiffany windows in St. Paul's Episcopal church across the street. Suzy, our proprietor, was very accommodating and helpful. She provided a beautifully served and delicious breakfast of warm pastries, yogurt, fruit and cheese as well as coffee and juice. Our rooms were cozy and very clean, as was our shared Jack and jill bathroom between our twin bedrooms. This inn has all the little imperfections you would expect in an older property, but they don't detract from your stay. Shower was clean, hot and with good water pressure. Water from tap was surprisingly delicious to drink. Note* There are stairs in this property and our tub/shower was an old claw foot, so ask before booking a room if you need easier accommodations. There are rooms on the lower level. We were only 3 or so blocks from downtown shopping and restaurants and 6 or so from the wharf ( we came in by Hy-Line Ferry) but far enough away for it to be quiet and peaceful like a small town. Our favorite cab company was Clyde's Cab. They had vans and gave us information about the island's history and nature as we passed. Nice folks! It cost us around $30 from center of the island to go to beach on farthest end. Plus there is a Shuttle that costs $3 per ride that is about 4-5 blocks from The Barnacle Inn. Overall, we would stay here again the next time we visit Nantucket.

Yelp
Very nice inn. Suzie is the best hostess and we loved her Bernese Mountain dog. Fresh baked cookies greet you when you check in. Water, hot tea, & coffee available all day. Breakfast was yogurt, various muffins/scones, cheese wedge, juice and delicious. Room was small but neat, clean and comfortable. Wonderful front porch to relax and have coffee in the mornings. Walking distance to town and to bus stops. Enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I loved this Bed and Breakfast as much as I loved Nantucket! The grounds were beautiful, Susie is a wonderful hostess and made sure I was well taken care of from reservations to room, to getting me to the airport when no taxi service was available. I wished I could have stayed longer at this charming Bed and Breakfast! I had a delicious breakfast in their court and enjoyed my time, my bed was so comfortable and my room was charming, roomy and comfortable. The location is walk-in distance to restaurants, shopping, the beaches and pier. I highly recommend this B&B if visiting Nantucket.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in early September 2020. Susie and her team did an amazing job of making us feel safe (#covid), welcome, and comfortable. We stayed in a room with private bath and king bed. The room was beautiful and had that "Nantucket feel"! Breakfast was delicious! I would highly recommend!!

Yelp
Great, friendly staff. Provides free beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers to use - nice perk. Rustic, cozy, quaint accommodations. Great location.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to stay!!! The owners, Phil and Suzie Kiendl are absolutely wonderful, and their staff is lovely!!! Our yearly trip to Nantucket in early September is always super special celebrating our anniversary with our best friends!!! The Barnacle Inn is beautiful, cozy, delightful, and conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Nantucke!!! Suzie, and Phil thank you so much for always being delightful hosts!!! Yelp
I love, love, love The Barnacle Inn! I did not even know what to expect when coming to Nantucket, but I was so pleased with this B&B. It was located just two blocks outside of town, and a five minute walk from the Hy-line Ferry Terminal and all the restaurants and shops. The B&B is much larger than I expected, with 18 rooms, I believe. We stayed in two rooms...Harmony which was located upstairs at the front of the house, and Enterprise, which was downstairs in the middle of the house. We lucked out with two rooms that had private bathrooms, but the shared bathrooms were fine, too. It was all so charming, and clean, and quiet. The innkeepers were awesome...Susie and Phil. And the included breakfast each morning was very quaint, and so lovely when eating on the porch or in their front garden. My only note is that the inn needs an updated version of Trivial Pursuit...my friend and I played outside one evening and the 1970 version was a bit outdated, especially with some of the geography questions. But we had a blast playing our own version of the game. I can't wait to return to Nantucket and The Barnacle Inn. Please note, they do not accept credit cards...check or cash only.

Yelp
I'm not easily impressed on places to stay because I always look at it as just that: a place to stay. I mean you're there for the sights right? Well the Barnacle Inn is great. For starters it's not breaking the bank, which on Nantucket is a hard thing to accomplish. The rooms are quaint, clean, and very homely. Beds are comfortable and some rooms have AC (ones that don't have a fan). The breakfast is solid with fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese, and varying fresh baked deliciousness. Cookies magically appear in the afternoon and they are great. Combined with very friendly service and if I was going back to Nantucket I wouldn't bother to find another place to stay, this one wouldn't be easy to beat

Yelp
We loved this place for our off-season R&R trip (wk after Mem. Day ). Wanted budget friendly place with New England ambience. We found it here. Suzie & Phil were delightful hosts, attentive to any needs we had. The location in the center of town was excellent-easy walk to restaurants, shops, ferry docks, bike rental & Stop & Shop. They provided Breakfast, afternoon cookies, & wine glasses for BYOB. The building is old but very well maintained. Common Living Room is comfortable for reading, working or chatting w fellow guests! There's a rack out back to store your multi-day bike rental. I would highly recommend this place & we will be back!

Yelp
We stayed at the Inn for 4 nights in July. I found it on trivago, as we were looking for hotels that would not be super expensive. This place is awesome!!! It's so quaint and beautiful, breakfast served in the morning complimentary, and a gorgeous yard that you can have a seat and have some wine, or coffee in the morning. The proprietors are so wonderful and sincere. It's like they are opening their home to you. The rooms are a great size, and decorated really nicely. I loved staying here and would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone going to visit Nantucket!

Yelp
We absolutely LOVED The Barnacle! I can't say enough good things about this Inn. We visited the first weekend in October for a weekend getaway and they were able to book a room with 1 queen bed and shared bathroom for us earlier that week. The rate was $235.00 with all taxes included. The Barnacle was a quick 5 minute walk from the ferry. We were immediately greeted with open arms and a warm disposition by the innkeeper as we walked in and he informed us our room was ready way ahead of time. The Barnacle is very clean, well kept, cute, cozy, quaint, and a truly representation and expression authentic Nantucket Island style. Highly recommended.

Gail L.

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at The Barnacle Inn! Our room was comfortable and very clean! We loved sitting outside in the courtyard in the morning and enjoyed the breakfast they served. It's location is convenient to town, but is also quiet.

Janet S.

Yelp
had a GREAT time and looking forward to visiting again next year!!!! Fabulous Inn owners, clean, roomy spacious, lovely breakfast Ah-mazing location!!!!

Jefferson L.

Yelp
Friendly inn-keepers, well-located and reasonably-priced. Charming building. Only negative is impossibly-narrow front walk with, inexplicably, a round mini-garden in it which makes it nearly impossible to negotiate with wheeled luggage.

Jason H.

Yelp
Clean, quaint, less than 5 min walk to all shops & eating in the harbor. Of the B&Bs downtown, this felt like a great value. Amazing cookies were set out in the afternoon in the lobby. Continental breakfast of fruit, yogurt, fresh baked items, and coffee was great way to start the day. Agree with other posts that inn keepers were helpful and friendly. This place was perfect and I look forward to coming back.

Sarah R.

Yelp
We loved our stay here! Everything was great from the room to the breakfast. Right in town but still peaceful. Has a wonderful yard for enjoying a bottle of wine and playing some cards in the evening.

Christine R.

Yelp
I had a lovely stay at the Barnacle Inn this past weekend. I was in town for a wedding and the other area hotel rates were, well, Nantucket exorbitant. Having never visited before, I wanted something close to town, but not ridiculously expensive. BI was perfect. The Rooms are quaint, not amazing, but more than satisfactory. The Inn is very well managed. Suzi, the owner, could not be nicer. There is a lovely breakfast in the morning, with coffee, homemade muffins, juice, cheese and fruit, and a copy of the paper is provided, if you like, and in the afternoon, there are cookies and candies. (the cookies are amazing btw) A lot of guests spent the morning and afternoon lounging outside in the nice garden. this place is very quaint and its proximity to town is ideal. Great spot! I didn't seem to have any wifi available, despite it being advertised that it was available, but i also didnt inquire about it, bc i was too busy enjoying myself!

Yelp
Such a beautiful place to stay. Stayed here while in town for my sisters wedding. Ms Susie was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Definitely plan to come back and stay again.

Yelp
We loved our stay at the charming Barnacle Inn. The proprietors are generous and friendly. The Inn is centrally located making it very convenient. Breakfast was lovely every day. Just perfect. We will be staying there again.

Mary R.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at the Barnacle Inn immensely. It is so well located for walking to most sights, and the service is terrific. Rooms have old-school charm but every comfort necessary, except your own TV, but there are much better things to do here than watch TV. There is a lovely communal sitting room with TV if you need that. Breakfast is included, staff is extremely friendly, and what I loved best were the plug strips on either side of our bed. Wish our weather had been better to enjoy the lovely porch and gardens. Thanks to the owners for a wonderful visit.

Sheila B.

Yelp
Cute inn nestled on fair street in downtown. Rooms are spacious but a bit dated. Very comfortable and good location. The inn keeper Susie was great, as was the breakfast. I really enjoyed it here. I would come back again

Robert S.

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 days at the very end of the shoulder season (which, BTW, is a nice time to come to Nantucket - most things are open but it's not crowded!). This is a beautiful old hotel, with really charming bedrooms. Everything is extremely clean and nicely kept, the place is quiet, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast. The porch and garden (with tables and chairs for breakfast, a drink, or a snack) are a major highlight. Extremely nice hosts and staff. Highly recommendable - we'll be back!

Susie J.

Yelp
The barnacle it was such a great experience. We were treated with so much kindness. We arrived on a Sunday morning, before our room was ready so we were able to stash our bags in a cute closet at the front reading room. We were suggested a couple different bike companies that were economical and we are on our way out the door. Coming back after our bike ride there was fresh cookies, oatmeal chocolate chip, waiting for us in the greeting room. After dinner we came back and enjoyed watching the Broncos game while the blood moon eclipse progress outside. The owners set up a telescope for the guests to watch the blood moon. We will to come back in 2033 to watch the blood moon again here, plan on making this a tradition! The breakfast that they provided in the morning was terrific! With yogurt fruit parfaits, biscuit or croissant, blueberry muffin or bread, fresh coffee, cheese and fresh pressed coffee. Just all around wonderful experience and made our stay incredible! Thank you for your kindness!

Yelp
I was hedging to go to five stars and pulled back for a few reasons . First the location is perfect. Get off the ferry and walk up the hill. Set back off the road with a nice garden and porch. I loved the Buddha . Breakfast is served on trays in the garden and is perfectly adequate. Hot muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice & coffee. There are not tvs which I loved . Books in the lobby to read , beach chairs, coolers and towels are plentiful . We attended the Boston Pops on the beach and Phil was so nice to give us a ride to the beach. Cabs that night were impossible. The cookies smell good they leave but I didn't try them. The house is old as they are and has not had much in the way of improvements that I can see. To give it a five star I would say spruce the rooms a tad. My friend and I were calling the house home by the second day and it sure felt like it. Susie was away with a family member I'll so we did not meet her. Molly who worked there was very sweet and helpful. Everything is super close and I would not hesitate to stay again. It's not the Ritz, but it's what I wanted and needed. A perfect summer home on Nantucket. Oh and we met people staying here which is a super cool reason to stay in a B and B

Yelp
The Barnacle Inn is a fantastic place to stay while you visit Nantucket, especially if you're visit is less than 1 week (as during peak season you generally can't rent a house for less than 1 week). I just returned from celebrating my bachelorette party there (with 6 others) and the owners, Stacey and Phil, were amazing! They were extremely warm and welcoming upon arrival and throughout the course of our stay, even after I'm sure we kept them up at night (although they never admitted to it). Warm chocolate chip cookies greeted us at night, while great, homey breakfasts woke us up. The rooms were wonderful, clean, quiet and comfortable. The Barnacle Inn is also in a great location and just a short walk to town, so perfect if you don't want to rent a car. And not to mention they loaned us beach chairs, coolers, towels, etc., so you really just need to show up on island and they have everything there for you. They also had a great relationship with one cab company, Clyde's, who drove us around everywhere (poor guy!). Some reviews have said the Barnacle Inn is pricey and old, which is not accurate in the slightest. Um, and newsflash: If you're visiting Nantucket it's ALL over-priced and most of it is old! Bottom line - FANTASTIC place. Don't miss out!

Lindsay H.

Yelp
Love LOVE the Barnacle Inn!!! I've grown up going to the Barnacle Inn and I wouldn't choose any other place on the island to stay. Phil and Susie (the owners) couldn't be more accommodating, not mention some of the nicest people. The location is amazing, just steps to downtown and the harbor, and in close proximity to some of the nearby beaches (Brant Point with one of the iconic lighthouses!) It is a beautiful property with a calming and authentic Nantucket vibe. The rooms are perfect; small and quaint while providing enough space & storage for luggage. You have the option to enjoy a complimentary breakfast every morning, which is one of my favorite parts about the inn. I will sit outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while breakfast is delivered on a cute tray with lovely china. After a long day on the island it is a great feeling ending up back at the Barnacle, and it is a very hard place to leave. I wish I could be there right now!

Syk S.

Yelp
Fantastic Bed and Breakfast of the beaten path!! The house is run by awesome friendly lady named Susie, breakfast consists of fruit, cheese, Yogurt and pastry!! It was great and filling!! I would highly recto end this spot to anyone who is visiting the island.

Yelp
Upon arrival at the Nantucket Airport (9am), we called the hotel to let them know we had just arrived (as they suggested, as check in is usually at 3pm). Suzy, welcomed us over the phone, and asked me if we wanted to stay two extra nights as our room was available for two more night. Honestly it was a bit awkward because we haven't gotten there yet and haven't seen the room so asking me over the phone if we wanted to stay longer was a bit weird. Anyhow, she told us the room wouldn't be available until around 1ish, which was earlier than our regular check in. (She was really nice and helpful except that question kinda threw me off at first). Once we got at the hotel, Greta the young girl at the front desk was very welcoming, and provided us with beach towel, water, and some fruits (very sweet of her). We left to the beach to enjoy our day, and left our bags in the hotel, and Greta would bring them to our room once the room would be ready. We came back at around 5pm, and our bags were put in our room. Room was small with a bathroom in our room, as everyone knows Barnacle inn is an old hotel (about 80yrs old, owned by the same family for over 60yrs) and the room had a little smell, they forgot to leave the windows open (definitely not something you cannot stand, I'm usually a bit allergic of vintage stuff, so this wasn't the case). We opened the windows and in 5 mins you couldn't smell anything. We liked the hotel a lot because it gave us a throwback feeling of what old hotels used to be. The bathtub is definitely one of those old ones, but worked perfectly fine. The breakfast was very good, definitely the best muffins we Ever had (the blueberries were almost still fresh inside) and I just wish there were eggs too, I love eggs for breakfast. The backyard, and everything else is just beautiful with many different beautiful flowers. So at night it gets a bit chilly, and you really don't need the AC, it is amazing what fresh air gets through the windows, throughout the night. The mornings ahhhh, waking up to the sounds of the birds was like a dream.. We enjoyed our stay at the Barnacle Inn and will definitely recommend to everyone! Hope to come back again

Yelp
Great Place for a Relaxing Beach Vacation This is a wonderful and real place to stay on Nantucket. Breakfast on the patio is the perfect start to a relaxing beach day. The Inn is historic and quaint and owner Suzie and Phil are as friendly as could be. I wish I were there now!

Josie K.

Yelp
My friends and I found the Barnacle Inn to be a wonderful choice. We had adjoining rooms that shared a bath off our own mini-hall. Susie is delightful and a great hostess and also gave us great off season rates for two nights midweek on what must surely have been best weekend of the year in early October. Perfect warm weather and no people on the island. She accommodated our bikes in the side yard and let us store bags there until the evening ferry on the last day. The included breakfasts were the best, with two different pastries baked fresh each morning accompanied by great coffee, fresh fruit and yogurt with granola. Extras goodies are left out beside the coffee pot in the huge great room all guests share. Informal relaxed atmosphere encourages meeting other guests. Quiet gardens enclose the inn so you feel tucked away despite being right off the Main Street of town next to the Quaker meeting house. Will definitely go back if I can. My advise, go off season!!!

Cheryl P.

Yelp
I rarely take the extra effort to write a Yelp review, but after just returning home from an amazingly wonderful weekend on Nantucket at the Barnacle Inn, I figured writing about my great experience might prolong it in my mind! This was my second time staying at the Barnacle, and it was fun to note that everything appeared freshly painted and attened to. The owner Suzie couldn't be more helpful and truly a delight. The whole atmosphere was relaxing and offered a sense of ease rivaled by no other. Oh - and the shower pressure with unlimited hot water was the best! The rooms are quaint, but wonderfully kept and with attention to detail. The location is easily accessible to town and the ferry, and yet set off the beaten path with gardens and intimate settings available in the community space. Everyone seems so happy to be there that it was hard to tear ourselves away to explore the island, but we did with the knowledge that "home" was waiting for us when we were ready! Truly a delight - Cheryl

Yelp
going to nantucket for a wedding this summer and called to inquire about a room connecting to my parents who will be coming to watch our baby. the woman who answered the phone was really nice but said, "yeah, we don't take babies." i know babies can be loud, but it was just so rude and unexpected! what if i didn't say that and we showed up for the wedding? would they not let us stay?! for a place that boasts "great for families" they should be more specific about their requirements for those families.
