The Barrel Cafè

Absolutely amazing experience. We had lunch here on our last day before leaving Interlaken and enjoyed every minute. The service was outstanding and the food six star taste. The home made bread was just wow and we also tried the local salad and quiche which were both perfect. Fantastic beer selection too making this a must visit on your Interlaken holiday. We were told that the beer house opposite is owned by the same people so a wonderful local community.

Even after a long day of hiking, we drove to Interlaken to eat and drink at The Barrel three times while we were staying in Stechelberg. We travel a lot and we're from Colorado where craft beer and pubs are plentiful, and we can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the beer, the food, and the service at The Barrel. This is one of our favorite little haunts on earth! We so enjoyed our servers Winona, Gabriel, and Sandy and Brad the owners. There was always great craft beers on tap and every morsel of food was exceptional. The selection of beers to buy and takeaway is excellent as well. If you're a dessert connoisseur, make sure to ask what Sandy has whipped up--we had a lemon tarte, apple strudel, and snicker brownie that we still drool over when we talk about our time at The Barrel :D

Really well curated bottle-shop/ brewpub. True gems can be found on the shelves, along with house beer and local brews. Highly recommended to any beer enthusiast

We did a beer tasting. Sheppi was a wonderful host. Beers were great; the accompanying food was delicious; Sheppi's explanations were full of hoppy. So good.

Very friendly staff. Large selection of beers. Only a 6 on tap, 4 of which are guest taps. So, 2 are there’s but they are well done. We tried both the DBL Chocolate Porter and the Cirta Blonde.

Large portions. Good Value. Decent food. Good beer. Located in town and easy to find. I got the brawt and it was very good. Got 2 beers and they were both very good. My wife I got yhe burger and I think I was better than the bratwurst. But the union rings were absolutely fantastic.

I don't have a ton of time to review this but I'll explain the 3 stars. This is a cute little whiskey bar off the beaten path. We looked at the menu on Yelp and thought "yes! Portobello mushrooms!" When we got in the menu was completely different. The cider beer is sold for 2.50chf but in the restaurant it's 6.50chf, because it's cold and poured with a slice of lime??? A shot of whiskey is gonna run you around 12.50chf (up to 30chf). The boyfriend got the veggie burger and it was served with steak fries and salad. He loved it. The friend got "beef" burger with steak fries and salad. She loved it! I got the pesto pasta and it was BLAND. It was more of a teaspoon of pesto and then some olive oil and dry noodles. I gave it to the boyfriend to eat. It's sad because I know they make good pasta here, but perhaps they ran out of pesto??? All dishes ran 19.90chf. My friend ended her meal with a slice of carrot cake with lemon/lime curd on top served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It was good, moist and only cost 6.50chf. Overall it was a lot of food, a lot of money, and I was more than disappointed with the preparation of the pasta. Lucky the next stop is Italy where they do it right!!

This was the best thing I ate in Interlaken. Best bang for your buck and they have their own wonderful crafted beer! We ate the chicken burger and the steak sandwich and it was the best ones we have ever eaten! Our bartender was wonderful. She gave us many recommendations of the best things to do and places for proper Swiss desserts. I would highly recommend eating and drinking here especially when most of Interlaken's food has the ability to be overpriced and very touristy. We felt as if we got a proper Swiss dining experience for a very reasonable price

The Barrel is such a gem! My boyfriend and I visited here while passing though Interlaken and it was a highlight of our trip. Our bartender, Gabriel, was super friendly and knowledgeable; he made us feel so at home and gave great recommendations. The shop has a phenomenal selection of beers and ciders from all around the world. And the meal we had was delicious! I recommend the chicken burger and sweet potato fries. Hope to come back again!!

you need to check this place out! the bartender was so pleasant and patient (we didn't speak german) helped us find a great beer to drink and let us taste a couple available on tap. they have a huge selection of beer. food was fabulous. got the chili on rice. so tasty. can't wait to come back!

Great selection! From local craft brews to American whiskey, this place has a little of everything. Nice place to grab a light snack and a beverage before, say, paragliding.
