The Barrow House

This place is rustic charm. Converted 1700 farm house I think. Super quaint and cozy around the holiday time, I love the trees and decorations they put up. We had a reservation on a Sunday for brunch and we were more than 15 min late. They were very nice about it and sat us anyway. It wasn’t too crowded but it did seem like they had a private party upstairs. No one ever came over to us for 20 min and I had to flag someone down. They took our order and then switched the server mid way. Our drinks didn’t come out for 15 min. Very slow service. At least they didn’t rush us, I do prefer sitting and catching up with friends. But would have liked a bit more attentiveness. I also noticed a good runner constantly bringing food to the wrong table and asking tables if it was their food, which is not very professional so they seemed pretty unorganized. I got the egg nog drink and it was in a cute Santa mug and tasted like I was drinking the holidays. Sweet and creamy, but there were three huge ice cubes that took up too much of the mug. The cornbread is very dry. I needed to put a lot of butter on it. My friends and my husband liked their food. I really liked my chicken and waffles. The fried egg was a nice touch. Just enough food. And it came out piping hot. Juicy white meat chicken fried perfectly, and the waffle was fluffy and not too sweet. Good tasting maple syrup as well. My husband’s burrata was delicious, so were the autum deviled eggs. The eggs were a little too sweet but very creamy and good consistency. A little on the pricier side at $50ish a person for a drink, entree and shared app for brunch. I would come here again though, nice place to catch up with friends. We had a very nice time! And I like the little lounge sitting area on the side, again just very quaint and homey.

I contacted the venue to arrange our wedding reception, and the person who assisted us was Elisa. She was very attentive, answered all my questions, whether by email or phone, and we were able to schedule a time with her to visit the space we had chosen. We were warmly welcomed and fell in love with the environment and the décor; it was exactly what we needed: a beautiful room to hold our small wedding ceremony and reception. We organized a cocktail reception for the wedding night, which was selected and reviewed in advance by us and the staff. On the day itself, everything was flawless. The service was provided exactly as agreed, and all the employees were extremely kind and attentive. In short: our experience at The Barrow House was incredible from beginning to end! Bonus: the venue has a photo booth, which made our event even more special.

My wife had a birthday celebration for me this past weekend... it was casual at the high-tops in the bar area. It was a perfect setting.. nice and casual, where everyone could mingle and talk with each other. Very nice bourbon selection, which is probably why my wife chose this place... lots of bourbon lovers in our group. The staff was great.. very helpful. Only complaint was that they were supposed to space out the 2 shifts of small plates, but instead brought them one after the other. A bit disappointing, but it didn't ruin our great time! I definitely recommend it here!

Came for a wedding, and then fell in love with the venue. The barn was the perfect place for the 17 person event - high ceilings, string lights, big windows and skylights, rustic furniture and lots of hanging flora. Fans and open doors let the fresh air in, and helped make an refreshing environment. The staff was wonderful. Checked in frequently, answered questions, made sure we were always given the opportunity to try more than enough of all their amazing drinks. Also, on a personal level, I needed a private room for myself for about 20min during the event, and they were quick to close off an entire section of the restaurant for me. Also noticed their bathrooms had legit changing tables (things you never realized until you become a parent), so bonus points for that. The food was fun. The set menu doesn't look like too much at first (cornbread, salad, cheeseburger, cookies) but each of the courses had something unexpected to make it taste AMAZING. I'm talking about fresh butter honey, secret aioli sauce, salted chunks. Kept the conversation going back to how surprisingly good the meals were. Bonus points for their interesting cocktails (Spicy Sonrisa) and apparently "one of the best drink's I've ever had" (Sugar Daddy - according to the whiskey lover at the table). This is one of those places that anyone can easily spend an entire day at.

We had the absolute BEST experience today at The Barrow House, and it was all thanks to Angelica our server! From the moment we sat down, she was warm, funny, and incredibly attentive. She paid attention to every little detail and didn’t make a single mistake with any of our orders (which is rare when you’re with a large group!). Her energy made the whole experience even more enjoyable, she anticipated what we needed before we even asked and kept us laughing the entire time. It’s clear she truly cares about her guests and takes pride in what she does. Angelica, you were AMAZING. Thank you for making our visit so memorable. We’ll definitely be back! ♥️💙🤍

I really enjoyed my time here. The atmosphere was amazing. Eric was fantastic! He provided excellent service from the moment we walked in—warm, welcoming, and attentive without being over the top. He crafted my drinks perfectly, and you could tell he put real care into making them just right. Beyond that, his friendly and hospitable attitude made the whole experience stand out. Baristas like Eric make you want to come back again and again.

Didn't have food but the Old Fashioned was excellent. The atmosphere is excellent as well. Make sure to take the long way around to the bathroom to get a look at the entire place. Very cozy feel with the couches and fireplaces in some of the rooms. Definitely going back to try the food one of these days.

I had a great meal at the Barrow house. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere- no tvs, good for conversation. The service was very good, but they seemed a little short staffed.

I like the Barrow House. The atmosphere is nice and the bar is large with lots of seating. Server was very friendly and attentive. We had corn bread and Mac n cheese as appetizers. The corn bread was VERY good. However, I was disappointed with the Mac n cheese. It was bland and much smaller than the portion the restaurant served a few years ago. For my entre I ordered the short rib which was good. They added a lot of the sauce over the mashed potatoes which I wish they would not have added as much because it made the dish a bit heavy but it was good nonetheless. For dessert we had the churros which comes with four pieces so it was perfect for our group of four. I'll keep going to the Barrow House as every time I have gone I have had a good experience. Also, there is a Photo Booth in the back you can have fun with and send photos to yourself. Great addition!

Charming, with cabin vibes. They had a Christmas tree along with other holiday decor and holiday themed cocktails. Service was top-notch. The food was excellent. I had the braised short rib and warm apple cobbler. The short rib was tender and full of flavor. The apple cobbler was comforting, with a generous amount of cinnamon.

With a barn-wood façade and porch that bring Cracker Barrel to mind, this establishment welcomes their patrons with a choice of rooms: a frontier-style bar up front; a fancy Victorian parlor; a barn room with a modern atrium roof; a more formal room antlered like a hunt club.   Located off of Van Houten Ave in Clifton, the Barrow House is large (8,000 square feet), with tables comfortably spaced for about 214 seats. The reservation was easily made 2 hours ago via Resy for dinner, and my partner and I are glad we did, as the place was crowded.   Greeted by the host upon arrival after our last visit 2 years ago, the interior vibe creates an instant sense of relaxation and comfort with the Christmas decorations making one feel right at home, and our table was ready in the hunting room with trophies: stuffed turkey, wild boars, pheasants, and deer.   Their menu consists of the standard American fare. For starters, we shared a giant pretzel with grain honey mustard and cheese sauce. For our main, we opted for the fried chicken and crispy cod fish sandwiches. Both accompanied by crispy fries.   Our food was so good, well-balanced with the right levels of flavor and delicious.   The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a wonderful dining experience, especially our server, Enrique. While the prices are slightly higher than average, it was well worth it, which we can continue to recommend.

Great experience. Loved the food! We had the giant pretzel, mussels, and calamari to share. I had the salmon for my entree, which had a very tasty sauce & was delicious! Service was okay. We went during the holiday season & loved the Christmas vibes.

Stopped in late on a Friday evening for drinks. We didn't have food on this visit but the drinks were just great! They offer many beers, dive bar specials and cocktail bar quality drinks. The ambiance is late 1800's western US. Service is with a smile and helpful. Hope to return to sample the food. Also, this is a very large place with two private dining areas, a "living room" where you can bring your drinks and settle in to nice chairs for a chat plus a large friendly bar.

We had a delightful lunch in the bar area of The Barrow House this past Saturday. Such a nice vibe. My friends and I hadn't seen each other in a long time and no one rushed us out. Two of us had the grilled chicken sandwich on focaccia and the other had the crispy fish sandwich. All were delicious. I had a side salad with mine. The dressing on the sandwich was tasty and the salad was crisp and fresh. We had churros for dessert, and they too were delicious. Lovely restaurant.

Been here a couple times and both times the food was very good. It's a small menu with apps, sandwiches, and entrees. It's a big place with a nice bar area. They had the doors open the last time I visited. Was worried about that but it was still cool inside. First time I had the fried chicken sandwich with hot honey which was very good. Second time I had the strip steak sandwich which was great. The French fries here are outstanding. Also tried the pretzel appetizer which was good. The service was polite and the place was very busy. Price is about what you would expect. They also have a bunch of cocktail specials to order with your dinner. There is a huge parking lot so no problem there. Will definitely be back.

We have been to Barrow House many times over the years and some visits have been better than others. Well let me tell you, this visit was a 10/10! We went for a late lunch/early dinner and sat in the bar area. It was happy hour so we took advantage of some HH deals. We started with the spring sangria and a rum cocktail that were both deliciously refreshing. The drinks were delish and came out quickly. For starters, we had the fried cauliflower and smoked deviled eggs. The cauliflower were cut into meaty chunks that had a nice crispy batter. The deviled eggs were not your usual deviled eggs, but good nonetheless. I went with the chicken Milanese for my entire and my fiancé had the pappardelle primavera and added chicken. The chicken Milanese was perfectly fried and the arugula was dressed in a tasty vinaigrette. The pappardelle was the perfect summer pasta dish in a delicious cream sauce with juicy charred corn. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and hope those items remain on the menu. We look forward to returning soon!

Incredible service and incredible food. My wife and I love this place. They have October specials get everything but the potatoe pancakes. The jagarschnizel was simply amazing. And the apple strudel we wanted to order another but they ran out. It was pretty busy so a reservation is ideal.

The Barrow House is decorated so beautifully for the holiday season! My friend and I recently came in for brunch. Great selection of sweet and savory entrees. The French toast with the apple compote was divine, as was my side of bacon. I didn't partake in any brunch cocktails this time, but their espresso martini looked amazing! Excellent service and ambience. I can't wait to come back here!

I returned to the Barrow House with my friend since we remembered it so fondly from last time. Decorations were full of merry and the photobooth was just as fun as we remembered. I think we owe them a visit every holiday! This time we came a few days before Christmas Eve and it was even more bustling than last time. A reservation was right as we came here on a Friday night. Their parking lot was pretty full but it was still easy to find a spot. Cornbread was hearty and scrumptious. I enjoyed a refreshing tonic like cocktail called Let's Do It Again..loved the pineapple and ginger notes in it. I noticed also that they changed up the menu slightly so this time I ordered the vegan shepherd's pie which was very rich and savory, comforting even for such a chilly night! Service was good but this time we did feel a bit more rushed but it can't be helped due to how popular it gets during this time of the year. Would we visit again? Yes, for sure.

Visited with a couple of friends for dinner. I'd suggest to make reservations in advance because it did get busy through the night. The ambiance was very dimly lit and traditional/farmhouse decor. I loved it! They also decorated a bit for Halloween which was cute. We started off with drinks and I believe I had the Forever Winter and really liked it. It was more on the herbal-y side and had vodka which is my preference. I like that they describe each drink on the menu too. It helps to decide. For dinner we all had sandwiches. My friends had the fried chicken and I had the grilled chicken. They were all paired with fries. We really enjoyed our sandwiches. The star of mine was definitely the bread but it did fall apart easily which was annoying. The flavors were great together. They had a halloween themed chocolate milkshake that we all had to try and shared. It would've been way too much for just me so I'm glad we did and it was the perfect way to end dinner. The waiter was extremely kind and attentive. It was a solid experience and I'd love to try brunch and see the decor in the daytime.

After a disappointing meal at Medieval Times, we decided to try this place - and what a great choice! It was our first visit, and the food turned out to be excellent. Our waiter provided top-notch service, making the experience even better. This spot really shines for brunch, and I'm definitely coming back.

4.5 Came here for Valentines Day and everything was so so good! My partner and I started with the Mac & cheese. It was such a good mix of cheeses & flavor. It had a subtle hint of smokiness and the portion of it too was great! Then I got the Short Rib & my partner got the Lamb Shank special. The short rib I got was so so good, cooked very well. The lamb shank was HUGE and so so worth it. Beyond tender and the definition of food that melts in your mouth. Service was also so so great. And the cocktails we ordered too! I was so surprised their have their own in house aged barrel liquor. Only thing I wish we did was peek around the space a bit to see more of the ambiance but other than that, such a great dinner and night at the barrow house! Can't wait to come back & visit again.

Everyone loves living in the suburbs...until it's time to get food past 9pm. Surprisingly, on a Friday night it was virtually impossible to get delivery or pick up. Thankfully BH came through and in a big way! We called 15-20 minutes before the kitchen closed and they prepared our food like it was the first order of the night. Love that for us. Food rundown: -Brussels sprouts -wings -steak sandwich w fries -banh mi w fries Everything was great! The steak sandwich was especially flavorful and the bread pillowy soft. The fries traveled well, too. They did forget my dressing for the wings BUT they were so good I didn't miss it. I even air fried my leftover wings today and still didn't miss it. My cousin liked her banh mi and said putting it on bao buns would take it to the next level. I went to BH years ago during a Xmas bar pop up and thought the drinks were great. Now I know the food is, too. No pics as your girl was hungry and gone off that Casa Azul Guerrero.

I would recommend making a reservation because The Barrow House gets crowded, especially on weekends! We did not have a reservation so when we walked in we were told that we could find seating near the bar. We found an unusually low top table across from the bar and sat down. It was dark and cozy. After a few minutes we had to go back to the front to ask for menus, since no one stopped at our table to offer service. The waiter was friendly and helped us decide what to order. We tried one drink from the cocktail menu but were not impressed. Therefore, since they have an expansive bar, for our second drink we didn't order off the menu. We had the cornbread and Mac&cheese with short rib. I felt the cornbread was dry and hard. The short rib saved the Mac&cheese...without the short rib the mac&cheese would have been tasteless. We also had the scallop risotto and skirt steak. They were ok. The bread pudding tried. Overall we had a decent experience but I wouldn't return.

Ambiance/decor: very nice, spacious place. We were a party of two, the table was a bit small. They do have bigger tables but I guess they are for 3+ guests. It was just a bit cramped and it felt like a dish would fall at any moment. They do keep a glass jar of water on the table which is nice so you don't to keep asking for refills. Food: Bacon Mac and cheese wasn't that great. It definitely needed more cheese and the pasta was very al dente, it needed to be cooked a little longer so it could've been softer. I didn't like the flavoring of the wings, I also didn't like that the blue cheese tasted a little weird, kind of like lemon. Fried chicken sandwich was okay. Fries, eh. Tres leche was good but dry. Overall, nothing to write home about, but a very nice atmosphere to go for an afternoon date or a group gathering. As far as the service, everyone was great and I think that's why I would return and possibly try something else off the menu.

I love how the establishment is decorated, very farm chic. My father and I went here for Sunday Brunch, and there was surprisingly no wait. I would recommend making a reservation, as we got lucky being sat immediately. It is fairly spacious, however it can be a bit noisy if dining during peak times. I love the menu as it offers different cuisines. I wouldn't bring a "picky" eater as there's limited selection for those with a more simple palette. While service was fast, our appetizers and main courses were room temperature at best. We didn't send the food back as we were starving. I would come back for dinner, just to see how the menu is for this course.

Delicious food, unique atmosphere, and wonderful service! Went with a group, I'm on a fairly strict low-carb diet, and making some substitutions was so easy. The chicken was juicy, the bacon some of the best I've ever had! Thick and so crispy! Even the side salad was great. We got crispy brussel sprouts and calamari for apps. The brussel sprouts were phenomenal! As the DD of the night, I stuck with soda, but the rest of the group raved over the espresso martinis, the old fashioneds and the scotch/bourbon selection. This place is in a refurbished barn, very rustic, with a lot of authentic antiques. With the beautiful weather, they have outdoor seating. We were inside but with the door open got to feel a lovely breeze.

Food here is always really good! Great place for brunch or a nice dinner date. Plus there is TONS of parking so you never have to worry. Corn Bread appetizer has a great balance of soft on the inside with a slight crunch on the outside. This is a much order. Calamari was also really good with lots of squid and had peppers mixed in which went really good with the sauce. We also ordered two pizzas to share - Margherita and Sausage. Between the two pizzas, the Sausage pizza was the stand out order because there was so much in the flavor profile - sweet sausage, hot honey, red sauce etc. However, Margherita was still good for a standard pie. Highly recommend this place - been here a few times and the food was always fresh and service was always prompt.

Finally able to try this dinner spot and I can say I'm rather disappointed with the experience. Called earlier in the day asking for a reservation and was told they do not take reservations. We arrived to a very busy parking lot and restaurant for the hostess to tell us did you make a reservation. We put down our names and waited at the bar, which was not terrible because we were able to get a seat almost immediately. I ordered the steel magnolia which was amazing and my date ordered an IPA. Our bartender was phenomenal, I cannot remember her name except that she was a blonder woman and just wonderful service. We were seated at our table within maybe 25-30 minutes which was impressive for how busy of a Friday night it was. Upon being moved to our table we probably sat for about 20 minutes before our server came over asking if we needed drinks or water. Then she was gone again for quite some time before bringing back water. We immediately ordered the burrata appetizer to get some food in our system. It was good nothing great. The way they toasted the bread was not enjoyable as it just tasted like charcoal and burnt. The cheese and contents were good and they definitely should've been served with more than 3 pieces of bread. Our entrees took some time because I have a mushroom allergy and nothing really spoke to me on their dinner menu. We ended up ordering the braised short rib and cioppino without mussels. The short rib was phenomenal and the mashed potatoes were delicious and flavorful. The cioppino was good nothing special for the price or its contents. Most of the calamari was okay but extremely chewy, the scallops were the best part, the shrimp was alright nothing special. The toasted bread had the same issue as the burrata toast where it didn't taste good. The bread should've just not been toasted to avoid it tasting like charcoal. I also ordered a lavender sunset their non alcoholic drink which was amazing and the crushed ice was a great touch. Our server was great and patient. Just a bit scattered as they were definitely understaffed. The appetizers and drinks were the best part of this meal. The inside of the restaurant had a nice rustic decor. Not sure if just because it was a Friday the meals were disappointing. Perhaps we need to give it another try.

Great ! Very big parking lot and large venue. They have a wide selection of libations at the bar and the bartenders do a great job. The food was very good and portions were sufficient - given the price point. We showed up on a Sunday without a reservation and sadly there were no spaces to sit in the main restaurant but we found space at the bar. I'd recommend the bar as it's not loud. Only thing is the bar area doesn't have that many cocktail tables. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

LOVE this place! Really cozy, cute ambiance with a barn feel. We came here for happy hour and sat at the bar and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options for food and drinks. The cocktails here are excellent and the food was pretty great too. Can't wait to be back for dinner!

The Barrow House has a rustic atmosphere with a cute bar area. The service was excellent. The food was okay but not great. I had the short rib grilled cheese which was decent but not excellent. The french fries were yummy. My friends got the churros which were very good. I think I'd come back and try something else on the menu.

Great greeter. Downhill from there Bartender mire involved in selling me on whiskey without asking what I drink. Stools made me feel like a kid at the adult table. When I mentioned it, he redirected me to table. Sitting at the table now, I noticed the stools are adjustable...maybe he didn't know. On to the food. Ordered a steak and a bowl of their mac n cheese. Both disappointments Steak, no seasoning, and had an off flavor, like it was from a wild animal and not beef. Mac n cheese? Don't order. Enough said Walked away, disappointed, and nit to return.

Great Happy Hour with nice specials and tasty food. Calamari, dry rub Lemon Pepper wings and Giant Pretzel were delicious. I'd pass on the deviled eggs next time (smoky flavor was too much, in my opinion). The staff were great and know how to hustle!

I cannot believe I missed this hidden gem all these years. This place looks like a historic rustic lodge/house that has an incredible bar, atmosphere thats amazing, fresh and affordable food, nice staff, reservation capabilities, and TONS of parking. They can even hold private events If you're in the area. Do not miss out on this place!

Coming from a late night Saturday flight, I was glad that Barrow House was opened. I ordered their classic burger to-go. The wait didn't take long and it wasn't too busy. I loved the interior (Colonial) and would have loved to dine here! The burger had a great charred taste and the fries were still crispy when I got home. The prices are a bit high, but it's NJ so I think it's standard compared to Midwest prices that I'm used to!

Came here for brunch with friends. The restaurant is easy to get to and they have a large parking lot. The ambiance inside is so unique. They have little rooms with rustic decor. The waitress was nice and did not rush us at all. She recommended the fried cauliflower and it was our favorite thing we ordered. It tasted like fried chicken. I had the chicken Milanese and the chicken was huge with a lot of fresh arugula on top. I will definitely go back.

The place is so beautifully decorated. Would come back here just to see the Christmas decorations because their fall decorations were amazing. Cozy place. Food and drinks were delicious. Only complaint was the portion size. My sister in law and I ordered the halibut and it looked like they cut the piece in half and gave us each a piece as our entree. The service was good as well.

Came for the first time this weekend for a group birthday dinner. 1) I loved that they had a large parking lot out back. It was super packed and almost full to capacity so be mindful of that if coming in a large group 2) they have a lounge area with some couches we're we waited for everyone to come because they only seat you once everyone from your party is present 3) I loved the peach drink more than the magnolias drink. But If you're a fan of spicy drinks than I recommend trying the magnolia 4) the serving sizes are great here and I enjoyed the soy garlic wings as well as my friend chicken sandwich 5) we bought a cake ( it's $2/person cutting fee) so we didn't order the in house dessert Stars lost because this restaurant's vibe and decor is not my favorite. It looked very outdated and the animals head on the walls creeped me out

Staff was super nice but service was a bit slow. Corn bread 4/5- bottom of 1 was a little burnt. Hummus 3/5, it was a bit runny. short rib tacos 3/5- meat was dry and doesn't come with any sides. Filet was flavorless, no salt/pepper or char on the outside 3/5. Had the bread pudding for dessert, it was dry and it came with about spoonful of gelato.. odd. Decor is different, cool farmhouse vibes but taxidermy animals cover the walls.

This was an amazing place the food was decadent! The service was great they were always checking up on you. The ambiance of the place was very farm like and rustic you would like this place a lot 5 stars!

The ambiance was really nice and different. I felt like I was really on a farm and not in New Jersey. I loved that the design matched the restaurant as well as the menu. Overall it was a good experience . The brussel sprouts were so good and the wings were really well seasoned and tasty. The fried chicken sandwich missed the mark for me. It was heavily breaded but not really seasoned, so a little disappointed. The grilled chicken was really good especially for anyone who loves cheese.

the barrow house has become a safe haven for us when we don't know where to go but also know it'll have great food waiting. We also don't drink how we used to, so when we do, or even when we don't, their mocktail menu is waiting along with the wonderful seasonal cocktail menu. Which one can appreciate. One thing not pictured is the best pizza on the menu. The mushroom pizza.

This is always a great spot to eat and drink at. Very homey in a great way. Our server Dan was very accommodating and attentive this trip. The bar for happy hour is always great and was last night as well. Food is always fantastic. Will return again and again

I have a regular here. Updating my Review from years ago. They have built up a very good bourbon selection. All also very well priced. Go there and try their variety of bourbons.

On my second visit, went during brunch hours and tried a few delicious small plates. The corn bread is still amazingly delicious. The shrimp po boy has great flavors but the bread option is a bit much. Overall great place, Victorian decor and good food to rave about.

A great find and very worth the 45 minute drive. My only complaint is at the bar. There are no TVs for watching sports (which actually isn't a bad thing). I also don't like being ripped off for the beer. They have a great tap list but beware.... They only have 9 oz pours for anything above 7 %. That sucks. And for a 9 oz pour you will pay 9 bucks. They totally rip you off at the bar. Would I come back? Maybe.

I came here in August during the Alice in Wonderland brunch. The whole restaurant, including the tent, was to die for. The Alice in Wonderland party was so much fun, and the food and cocktails were excellent. The ambiance and decor inside was really cute as well. I guess they do small private events too, I noticed a bridal shower sign set up. One thing to note is the tented area in the parking lot is on a really big slant. It made some of the seating awkward and uncomfortable. Overall, I would recommend and return!

This place has a really cool log cabin feel. It was decorated inside and out with Christmas decorations. They really get into the spirit and also have some neat Christmas events. The front desk staff and waitors were very nice. They offered great advice on drink and food recommendations. I got the house old fashioned that they call American trilogy, but they make it a little differently with apple liquor. It was very tasty. I started with the hummus platter. It's a bug shareable portion and fresh. The Quatro formagio pizza was a thin crust pizza. It was slightly garlicky in taste but overall pretty good. But I don't recommend it reheated. They also have some fun drink shot called the spiked hot coco. It is served in a fun shot glass. But is way too cinnamony.

Their southwest salad is great! Try the lavender drink. I've been a few times with friends and my partner. Everyone has been pleased with their food. The cornbread is also good! Extensive bar is available. Ample parking. Casual atmosphere and congenial and prompt service, would recommend for a good "all around " not too fancy dining experience. Good for celebrations

I've been coming to The Barrow House for three years now. Their drinks are fantastic! The Steel Magnolia is my favorite. But I've had mixed experiences. The food can be quite salty and service can be slow. But my last visit was pretty nice. It was my first time having brunch here and the deviled eggs & crispy chicken thighs are delicious! I was really impressed with how crispy the skin was on the chicken thighs. The sticky shrimp was too salty for my taste. The breakfast pizza was good but needed something more. I asked for hot sauce and that did the trick. Overall, The Barrow House holds a special place in my heart. I'll keep coming back to support this place.

The first time I came to barrow house I walked in without a reservation during the weekend and waited for more than 45 mins to be seated. Since I learn from my mistakes this time around I booked reservations online for my visit. We were immediately seated since we had reservations and we chose to sit inside. I absolutely adore the cozy vibe this place has. The service was wonderful and attentive! We got some cocktails to start the meal and they were fantastic. My husband got the grilled chicken sandwich served on a focaccia and I got the chicken Milanese. The chicken Milanese is gluten free and one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. The chicken is fried to perfection and the salad is refreshing. This will be my go to order every-time I come here!! The person on the next table looked over my dish and got the same thing because it looked fantastic and she was extremely pleased as well ( I'm yelping in real time out there). I cannot wait to go back and get the exact thing again!

A real rarity in this Montclair/Clifton/Verona area--great atmosphere, great service AND great food plus PARKING! A beautiful colonial/pub vibe, very warm festive and Christmas-y on a cold winter night. Our server Lorenzo was super friendly and knowledgeable. The food came super fast and everything was delicious--we had the short rib and the burger and then the cinnamon bread pudding for dessert. Zero complaints--a really great place.
