The Best Dog-friendly Hotels in the U.S.

"I found the pet-loving staff and prime spot on the Tampa Riverwalk ideal for outdoor time with a dog — the hotel provides a collapsible dog bowl, sits steps from a dog park, and offers easy access to Armature Works and even BYOB boat cruises on the Tampa Bay Fun Boat for waterfront sightseeing with your pet." - Nina Ruggiero Nina Ruggiero Travel + Leisure Senior Editorial Director Nina Ruggiero oversees T+L's award-winning travel content across digital platforms. The hotel is lovely in the lobby and attached restaurant. We felt our room was small in comparison to the size of the hotel, we felt cramped and there was no counterspace in the bathroom. The room only had one chair, so we asked for another chair and got a executive style chair with a high back. Not exactly what we expected. The drivers of the hotel shuttle were outstanding and very friendly, and got us to our destinations and back without incident!

A little disappointed $285 a night expecting more Why do hotels think having open hanging wardrobe is cool to me it's motel quality. Beds are comfortable and linens are nice. Rooms are a good size but lack finesse for $285 . Not exactly luxurious but utilitarian. Breakfast was good service was excellent. Parking $10 which to me i don't charge for parking when clients visit my office .Im glad they choose to visit me. Location is good

Google
It’s a very nice hotel :) It’s not super expensive, so don’t expect a five-star experience, but it’s definitely nice. The rooms feel a bit old and outdated, but you can get one with a beautiful view of the river! The front desk staff are all friendly and kind. I went during the summer, and they had a free shuttle, which was super useful for getting around Downtown Tampa. I would definitely recommend it!

Each year we have our USMC Birthday Luncheon at the Barrymoore and have been very happy with the service and food. Salina and their staff we amazing and always goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Highly recommend.

My group stayed at the Barrymore Hotel for our annual volleyball camp. We rented 150 rooms for a weekend. My salesperson, Salina Laurenco was (is) fantastic to work with. Salina was all in on our group stay. She made sure that her team was on point for all facets of our stay. We checked in the 150 rooms in 1 hour; our room keys were ready an hour prior to the posted check in time and we had zero room problems. The fro y desk, shuttle service and housekeeping services are all committed to service. You know it is a well run hotel when you find out that their sales, front desk, and housekeeping staffs have been with the hotel an average of over 10 years. |This was our 5th year in a row of booking our group at the Barrymore.|My many thanks to Salina in sales, Cara and Jahanne were tremendous as well.

SHUTTLE 💯 FRONT SERVICE 💯 PARKING SERVICE 💯 Rooms? 65/100 The shuttle was absolutely amazing. Took us anywhere downtown we wanted to go. And picked us up when we called. We felt like celebrities. Bus/van is clean and new. Parking while on the cruise was why we chose the hotel. Very convenient, great process to be included in hotel rate. Location: so easy to get to from the highway. Close to the riverwalk and some parks. Reserving over the phone was such a nice experience. And service upon arrival was so nice. Lobby? Gorgeous. Luxury, feels so fancy. Views from Rooms are very nice. One side looks over a bay, one side looks towards downtown lights! Cons: exterior of business is dated. Hallways are dated. And rooms are very dated. The room kinda feels like a motel, except the bathroom was renovated to be very nice. Room: 3/10. Bathroom: 8/10 Wish o could give a 4.5 or something higher than a 4. The rooms and hallways have a much different vibe than all the other amazing amenities. Really enjoying our stay here!!!

Google
This was the perfect stay for our family before going on a cruise. The hotel rooms were spacious and clean. We loved that there was a restaurant available and many other stores within walking distance. I didn't know about the free shuttle to the port before the trip, but this ending up being amazing. They let me pay to park the car there for the week and the shuttle picked us up when we got back. It made things so smooth. The restaurant was very slow and expensive, but everything else was amazing and the pool area was great to hang out. The workout area was nice to have as well.

We loved staying at the Barrymore Hotel Tampa Riverwalk! Great location, exceptional & friendly staff, great rooms - clean, spacious & well appointed. Thank you for making our stay a wonderful experience - we will be back! Highly Recommend!

Yelp
Location, location , location!!! That is the justification for their room prices. This place is situated in Tampa River walk....very nice location . Check- in was great and effortless. Front staff were friendly and courteous. Lobby was clean but no "wow" factor. The rooms do need some remodeling and freshening of the paint color .

Yelp
Every hotel employee encountered was friendly and committed to making our stay comfortable. Our room was clean with comfortable beds. Good location and value among downtown hotels. Full breakfast at the on site restaurant was very good. Free local transportation was a big bonus. Our request for late checkout for a late flight was not an issue and not an extra charge. The hotel is not a five star experience because it can use an update. I have learned to pack a lightweight outlet extension to keep all of our electronics powered up and it was necessary here.

Yelp
I have to say the best thing about the hotel was the staff at the front desk. They were always amazingly helpful and made the trip and my business experience a breeze. They have a good location for downtown business trips as well as easy parking and access to everything you need. They don't have much of a weight room or a business center but they make up for it with a nice lobby area and areas to converse with colleagues. The rooms are a bit outdated but well finished and kept clean. They'll clean your bed daily changing out all of your sheets and beddings and towels which I enjoy especially in business trips. It seems like a lot of hotels have gone to not changing your bedding or cleaning your room as often as most people might like. They have a nice selection of books you can read while staying at the hotel as well as lots of free candy in the lobby. The pool is nice it's open from 10:00 a.m. until the sunset and it's not heated so get ready for a cool plunge. Easy access for running on the Riverwalk and easy access to downtown or the convention center either driving or walking. they have lots of cable channels and a big screen TV in each room in the internet speed was plenty fast to do my work. They have a restaurant and bar on site they're open from early in the morning until late at night and they're pretty willing to turn on sports or what you want to watch. I would stay here again on a business trip the staff really made it worthwhile.

Yelp
Hotel was very clean but dated. Staff friendly and helpful. Location excellent and hotel free shuttle service convenient.

Yelp
Just suggestions to make it great: Offer wine/beer in market Offer newspapers in lobby Create a better entrance to the pool and add signage in lobby Add bathrooms for pool area Add water station for pool area Where the little tiki hut is outside of pool area, maybe open up and put a bar. Shaded area for people to read and maybe eat lunch. Decor suggestions: Lobby area has cool decor. What would elevate is to wallpaper with grass cloth or add wood slats to ceiling inset by the large chandelier! It would look awesome!

Yelp
I'm not usually a reviewer unless it's really really bad. I can hand a lot because I used to work in the service industry. You can't make this up. First off I walked into my bathroom as soon as I got in the hotel room and there was stained blood all over the shower curtain (see pic). Later in the day I took a shower and the water leaked out of the bathroom into the hall. The shower curtain rod fell off when I got out of that very same shower. The kicker, the reason I'm on here. I used all the towels up in the room before having it cleaned. I put a towel on the ground because the floor was dirty while I shaved my beard. I just got out of the shower and pulled one towel off the top of the stack. The second towel in the middle had shaved hair all over it. Again, all the towels in the room should have been fresh. I'm disgusted in this place. If I could get a different hotel I would move but it's SOF week and hotels available.

Yelp
Slow as F. The absolute slowest and worst service I've ever received at any hotel in the state of Florida.

Yelp
We stayed in the early part of November for 7 nights at the Barrymore. It is located in downtown Tampa, which was very helpful. It is a nice hotel with some upgrades in the lobby, 4 elevators, comfortable seating and a wonderful little resturant in the corner across from the desk without a sign yet because they are new but WOW, you must try their breakfasts! Super delicious, generous portions, and so convenient. We found it by accident. They also do limited dinners I believe. Our room was clean, had a really nice water view, spacious for a double queen. The bathroom is very small though. The beds could use a turn over of the top mattress because mine was a bit lopsided and not that comfortable. But it had a good size table and 3 chairs, a dresser, a full mirror, a small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker . We never watched TV because we were busy exploring Tampa and the area. The pool is nice also. All in all, it was a good stay. The parking was $10.80 per day, not bad if you can't find free parking. The location was great though. Close to everything - restaurants, shopping, parks, highways and all else. We would return.

Yelp
What a terrible hotel. My father ended up staying here for 2 nights and they had nothing but issues. They had to call several times EACH DAY in order to get the hot water working in their room. We sat in the restaurant for 40 minutes before anyone asked us if we had been helped; we said no, he said he would be right back and guess what? No one ever came back. We sat another 20 minutes and left. Terrible service, rude staff, just awful all around.

Yelp
Ehhh, not the best but definitely not the worse. The location is great if you're seeing a show at the venue next door but overall I probably wouldn't stay there again. The walls and doors are super thin, you can hear EVERYTHING next door and in the hall, including other peoples TVs, toilets flushing, showers running, etc. The shower was very difficult, small, slippery, no shelves, hard to control. Overall it was fairly clean and the downstairs area was very trendy and cute but just logistically not the best hotel.

Scott C.

Yelp
I am staying here for a daughter soccer tournament. The hotel itself is not bad, pretty old and outdated. I woke up and got in the shower to only have cold water, I called the front desk and they told me to let the sink run and the shower run for 15 to 25 minutes to receive hot water. I wasted my entire morning waiting for this hot water only to have to jump in for five seconds in a cold shower before rushing out and being late for soccer. We are in 2024 and this hotel does not have hot water.
google avatar

Ms. C.

Yelp
This place was OK - not terrible but also nothing to rave about. Our toilet had issues flushing and we needed to call maintence due to no hot water in our shower. He was able to fix it and we thankfully were only staying there one night. I certainly wouldn't care to stay there longer than that. The location and kind staff members help the rating but the room itself is eh.

Yelp
The Good: location, ease of parking, students weren't a bother, beds were clean. The Meh: dirt and food bits under the bed, dirty bathroom floor, overall REALLY dated appearance, peeling wall at the shower. The Ugly: NOISY! OMG I could barely sleep here. Constant loud ventilation in bathroom that required the door to be shut at night to dampen it, the fridge with the non-stop banging freezer tray that served no purpose, all the noise from the air handlers on the roof (we were on the 11th floor), and finally -- THE BANGING ELEVATOR SHAFT! if you get a room next to the elevators (room 20 for example) go straight to the desk and get it changed. ALL NIGHT LONG you hear every person taking the elevator because something slaps against the elevator shaft when it moves. All in all, great walks to Armature Works and downtown, friendly people, but so noisy and nothing like our stay at another nearby hotel a week ago -- that was also $300 cheaper.

Yelp
Don't leave anything behind, you'll never get it back. My spouse left his toiletries bag, we called an hour after we left, kept getting the runaround about who to call, left messages with lost and found and no call back. He is recovering from open heart surgery and had critical medications and a brand new razor in that bag. Location was great but at one point all but one of the elevators went on the blink. Made for a long line to get to the 12th floor.

Payton K.

Yelp
Don't stay here. Moldy smelling rooms, nasty carpets, creepy interior, decent (at best) desk service, absolutely unreliable shuttle service, housecleaning coming at THE most awkward times of the day, subpar restaurant with overpriced "food", strong track record of cockroaches/bugs, water that smells like eggs, a literal mushroom growing out of the wall, and so much more. There are dozens of places in Tampa that would provide you a much better stay.

Sherrice S.

Yelp
Kara is the best she helped with anything that we needed. She us a very sweet and kind person
google avatar

A. M.

Yelp
Solid 2-star hotel, so don't let the dated promotional photos convince you it's anything but. Probably more like a 3 star hotel 15 years ago, but it's showing it's age and general wear and tear. Primary issue is everything could use a deep cleaning to remove hair, flaking paint, and general muck from the rooms. If you could stay here for less than $100/night, it would feel tolerable for downtown Tampa. Anything higher, look around. I think you'll get much better value for the money with a major brand hotel in the area.
google avatar

Kate N.

Yelp
Pros: great location, right by the Riverwalk. Also offer a free shuttle service within 2 miles of the hotel, where there are tons of attractions. Cons: room was not ready until after our check in time. We were told we had to wait for the room's final check, about 40 minutes past check in time. When we got to our room, it wasn't even fully stocked so not sure how thorough of a "final check" it really had - had to grab soaps from one of the housekeepers. We stayed 3 nights and our room was not cleaned either day we were there. We did not have our do not disturb sign up and we were not in the room much during the day. The hotel was overwhelmed by the number of guests there due to a concert in town and just not adequately prepared. Wouldn't stay again.
google avatar

Marisa L.

Yelp
Check in was easy but the person behind the desk was not friendly whatsoever and barely spoke but maybe 5 words to us upon arrival. No "welcome or how are you today". Basically said name and told me I needed to place a credit card down for security....didn't even inform me of the amount of the deposit for security. Not exactly the way you want be greeted when you first arrive in a hotel. The line for the elevator was backed up. Lobby shows 4 elevators but only 2 were functioning. In order to take the stairs you had to go outside and to the other side of the building to access them. The room smelled like damp towels and one of the beds looked liked it had been napped on. Space in the bathroom is quite limited and is a tight squeeze. Room was outdated, bathroom fixtures broken, towels stiff and scratchy. Beds were uncomfortable. If it wasn't for the location of this hotel I would have not given it 2 stars. Do not recommend staying here!

Betsy B.

Yelp
Checking in at the front desk . The "manager " Jah Anne was the absolute rudest person we have ever encountered when checking in to a hotel. Students from university of Tampa staying there said when they have to go to the front desk , they hope it's not her. JahAnne should not be staffing the front desk . She should be kept as far away from guests as possible. The hotel itself is very dated and no hot water . I would look elsewhere. Not worth your money at the Barrymore.

Yelp
I booked this place for a night via Priceline. The lobby is pretty and they have a restaurant/bar on site as well as a little market with snacks. The staff members were all really nice and they offer a complimentary shuttle to get you around nearby spots in town. Special shoutout to Robert, our shuttle driver! He was super nice and patient when we had trouble finding one of our destinations. The rooms are okay. There's a mini fridge and microwave. There are a generous amount of pillows. The beds are kind of on the hard side. The rooms and halls have a pretty outdated feel and there's kind of a musty smell. It's good for a night's stay and conveniently located. Overall, it's not the best place I've stayed, but it's perfectly adequate for a short stay at a decent rate.

Yelp
We decided to go to Tampa for the weekend. And despite some of the previous reviews, we picked The Barrymore because of it's location to the Riverwalk. First impressions - Nice! Clean. Staff was friendly and professional. Lobby looked stylish and up to date. BIG BONUS - Barrymore is totally DOG FRIENDLY, so bring the fur babies! We did! The room was simple but nice. Clean and fairly spacious for what it was. The beds were comfortable. Huge windows to take in the amazing view of the river at night! The bathroom was kind of stylish with actual tub instead of walk-in shower. Not many amenities other than the basics. No breakfast. But there is a small snack shop next to the lobby desk. It looks at one time there was a lounge or something but it wasn't functional while we were there. Great FREE Wi-Fi. Small outside pool that looked really nice but was full of kids the entire time LOL Overall it was a very nice stay. Did I mention its right next to the Riverwalk? Perfect place for a romantic stroll or a brisk morning walk with the pooch! Also only about 2-3 blocks from the center of downtown. Great choice for a slightly upper mid-range hotel.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
The service here is 5 stars. Megan in the bar. Cara (?) at the front desk. Just expert service that was friendly, prompt, 'with-it', on top of it. A+ The rooms are basic. Had trouble getting hot water. The bedding is....basic. There is no blanket. Most of the metal in the room (lamp, bathroom counter, etc.) was rusting. It's clearly an older hotel. No doorstops/quietly latching doors on rooms so hallway noise/door slamming was an issue. So the hotel definitely serves its purpose and the service is first-rate. We had a good stay!
google avatar

Yelp
I stayed at the Barrymore on 12/26/2022. There was a cold front around 40 degrees F. The room I stayed in had a heater that did not work. I turned it up to 80F waiting for the room to heat up. It gave off a burnt dust smell but It never did heat up. The remote on the TV also did not work. The joke of a restaurant was never open. I told the front desk the heater did not work they said sorry about that. I told them I wanted a refund. They said since I booked through Hoteltonight.com there is nothing they can do. In other words, too bad! You can make up your own minds if you want to stay there. I told Hoteltonight.com but heard nothing back.
google avatar

Joshua S.

Yelp
Nothing bad to say, everyone and everything was great the bar food is very good and well priced for quality. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Beds and linen are good quality. Shower was much better than I expected.

Steve M.

Yelp
Great location, reasonably priced for the area. Room was basic but clean and the beds were very comfortable. The host couldn't find our reservation for a while. But that was the only glitch. The restaurant Gaudin and onsite was pretty good with a full bar. Everyone was great. And with a free shuttle anywhere within a 2 mile radius and to the cruise port. Would definitley recommend

Yelp
I rarely leave reviews but I need to warn potential customers about this hotel. My family and I recently stayed here for a family reunion. When my GF and I got to our room we immediately noticed an odd smell in the room... strange but ok, not the worst thing that could happen. When she went to use the bathroom she noticed hair on the toilet (yes, THAT kind of hair) I called the front desk to ask for the room to be cleaned, the associate apologized and said she'd send someone up immediately. However, no one came to clean the room until the next day and even then, although we requested fresh sheets, they simply made the bed and that was that ( we know this bc my GF's makeup was still on the sheets. We also heard entire conversations from the rooms surrounding us. My sister, who was in a separate room on a different floor woke up to bite marks on her legs. We assume from either bed bugs or fleas. While dining in the banquet hall reserved for us, we happen to look down to see a roach scurry across the floor. We ended up checking out 2 days early and booked the rest of our stay at the Grand Hyatt. I do however have to shout out the shuttle drivers at the Barrymore who were awesome and super accommodating.

Big Dick H.

Yelp
We were helped by a very nice lady named Catina P. She showed us outstanding courtesy and kindness and was a pleasure to deal with. The hotel experience was great, we had no hot water which was an inconvenience, but they sent someone right up to take care of it.
google avatar

Yelp
This hotel offered our group transportation anywhere within 2 miles of the hotel. We were a large group of 17 high school students in town for the fl state thespian festival. The hotel bus was absolutely the best part of this hotel because my students bonded with one of the drivers, Greg S, who the kids affectionately referred to as "Unc". He gave them lovely life advice and they loved his warmth and humor. Give Uncle Greg a raise barrymore, he's the best!!
google avatar

Stella L.

Yelp
Omg I can't even start to explain how disgusting and RATCHET this place is. A very large group of us were staying here and me and my roommate/bestie were in the same room and we had several HUGE (picture below) cockroaches and then several babies! We moved in with 2 other girls that night because they kept multiplying so we got I to there room and we didn't open any of our stuff and on the opposite side of the room another huge roach and 2 of her babies! We then split up and moved to to other girls rooms and me and my bestie did not even bring any stuff and there was a huge one on the wall. I feel bad to say that this place DESPERATELY NEEDS a redo! I have been brushing my teeth with egg flavored water all week ! Needless to say the staff here is very nice but my roomie and I have had trouble sleeping because we feel them crawling all over us!!!!

Yelp
I came to stay at the Bellmore as a volunteer for a bartending conference. The USBG of Tampa Bay puts on an annual Gala celebrating the 86th anniversary of the!Repeal of the Volstead Act ending prohibition. At first glance the hotel had grandeur appeal. I was placed in a double room on the eleventh floor while the meeting rooms where the conference took place are located on the the main floor. They have a decent size outdoor pool located on the second floor, The hotel restaurant the Continental offers "mid century to modern dishes" with a daily happy hour from 11am to 12pm. Currently the restaurant is under new management after speaking with the bar manager they have had an impressive turnout for the past few months. Not to mention the decent Bourbon list. Pros: Beautiful executive suite that includes a large flat screen, mini kitchen, California King and breath taking views of the Tampa skyline. The location could not be better its close to downtown walking distance to many local attractions. They offer a complementary courtesy shuttle for a two mile radius. The beds were comfortable, hotel staff friendly and a 24 hour security guard is always by the lobby elevators. Cons: No continental breakfast you can purchase à la carte items for breakfast through the restaurant. Fitness center was adequate for a hotel this size but had three flat screen TVs with no remotes and not way to turn them on. Students from a local college are housed on the first two floors as there dorms. Don't be suprised if you see underage students in the lobby at 3am. I would recommend the Bellmore Hotel for a weekend getaway for a decent price. Perhaps consider another option to put up your boss or in-laws while in the Tampa area.

Aimee W.

Yelp
Utterly appalling customer service... can't get ice unless you're on 9th floor or higher. A/c isn't cold asked for service not one came.. killed a roach in my room.. the children downstairs at night as "RA's" what a joke... where are the adults who own this establishment????

Yelp
We live in the area and have stayed here more than once for occasions in the downtown area, no drinking and driving for us! On our recent stay we went to the Margarita Festival. This was the perfect location. The rooms are now remodeled and nice. The last time we stayed the bathrooms were not remodeled but it was still clean and nice. The remodeled bathroom are all tile, and have a very nice shower and vanity. The entrance to the room also has tile. The staff was also helpful and friendly. We were concerned we would not be able to park before check in at 3pm. As I said, we were going to the festival down the street and didn't want to have to park somewhere else and then come back later and park again. We arrived at about 2pm and they were able to let us park and then when we brought the key back a couple minutes later a room was available! They have a pool and a restaurant but we have never used the pool because we usually stay here for an event. I think the restaurant is busy before shows at the Straz. I think we looked into eating here before and event one time and the wait was going to be too long. This is a very affordable and conveniently located hotel so we will definitely consider staying here again for future events.

Yelp
BFR Carriage Service LLC recently had the privilege of working with The Barrymore Hotel Tampa Riverwalk. The entire staff was a pleasure to work with and went out of their way to make the brides day a day to remember. The General Manager, Odyssey Leach, was hands on and present during the event even though it was after hours. Salina Laurenco is the Sales Manager. Her smile will light up any room and her personality matches. She was not working the day of the event but made sure she stopped in to see how everything was going. Any time we have horses in a populated area with traffic we are always alert to outside incidents that could be disastrous. BFR Carriage Service LLC recently had the privilege of working with The Barrymore Hotel Tampa Riverwalk. Linda ( I believe she was the GM's assistant) and security made sure we were protected at all times. I give them 5 stars for efficiency, atmosphere, professionalism, and overall experience. I cannot wait to work with them again. BFR Carriage Service LLC Julie Bulloch and Rusty Bulloch, owners

Yelp
I must say, that although the hotel and staff are coming out of COVID, the staff did everything possible to ensure that we were comfortable. Our rooms were cleaned every day, the shuttle staff were always pleasant and ready with great information for looking eateries, activities etc. The shuttle is free within a 2 mile radius. The front staff is exceptional. Specifically, Ms. Cara G. She was a great resource, and always delightful. I was there for 5 days and my friend was there for 3 days. We have several trips coming up and we will stay at the Barrymore. I look forward to the re-opening of the restaurant and bar.

Yelp
I would not recommend you stay here. -- it seemed that multiple rooms on my floor had their door locks not working or out of battery. At one point me and two other people were out in the hallway trying to get in our doors, and it would show green but the locks didn't work. Eventually the maintenance guy came up and his card key didn't work either, he needed to get the physical key and then change the batteries. Seems crazy to me that they don't monitor this in advance or notice the problem while cleaning etc. -- bedsheets are pretty bad and pilling heavily. Rough to sleep on. -- I think I got bitten by a bug or mosquito in my room. -- very thin walls, I was kept up all night by the guy next to me leaving his TV on all night and snoring like a champ. On the plus side, wonderful staff, very helpful and warm, and fast wifi

Yelp
I would give it 4 and 1/2 stars. Very nice hotel and area. I have stayed here twice. Once in June 2018 after a Hall & Oates concert and once in December 2018 after Sebastian Maniscalco. Front desk is awesome. Both times friendly and helpful. Free shuttle to Amalie Arena that runs pretty late at night. We didn't use it to get back to the hotel because we stayed out late after the concert. It it is available if you need. The Straz is with in walking distance so for Sebastian Maniscalco it wasn't an issue. The Waterworks Bar and Grill has very good food and late night snacks. Happy Hour 3-6. Had the BBQ sliders--very good. Gave 4 stars instead of 5. The rooms are still in transition from the old hotel. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The halls are kind of noisy and it gets busy with cruise guests and weddings, etc. You get a lot for the price and convenience to wherever you want to go in Tampa. Free shuttle and excellent customer service.

Yelp
Still decent for the price, but going downhill.. We will probably be back because it's the place that that my work sends us. If I go to Tampa on my own, I would consider other options.

Yelp
Garbage. Dirty rooms where some amenities were broken or didn't work. Also didn't feel safe. People tried to get in my room and on either side was surrounded by the good and bad kind of screaming. IE, this is a cheap, down-scale party hotel. Worse, when we had to leave for our second night because of not feeling safe (we had a 3 year old with us), we were told all would be refunded. That was 6 weeks ago. INSTEAD they told Amex they had no record of check out, THEN changed the fees on the booking to retain most of the money after the cancellation. So all in all, I'm telling you, stay away. There's much better places to rest your head where you can actually feel good -- and not robbed -- about doing so.

Yelp
most unsanitary hotel. floor and carpet had dirt everywhere and looked like the room hasnt been swept/vacuumed in months. tv remote had gunk between the buttons that i couldnt even change the channel. toilet was disgustingly stained yellow and shower head was clogged with rust. i couldnt stop sneezing and itching from all the dust that i had requested to cancel my remaining stay but the hotel denied my request. i have decided to check-out after staying only one night and remaining stay will be a loss. when checking-out, i reported again that the room was very dirty and the hotel did not acknowledge my complaint. i am giving 2 stars only because the bartender in the evening had great customer service.

Yelp
I was placed to live here by the University of Tampa. I lived here from August 2021-May 2022. I've lived in Florida all my life and have never had constant sinus infections like I do ever since I've been forced to live in this hotel. The amount of mold and impurities I've been surrounded with for months on end is honestly repulsive. After complaining for something to be done, I was told "it's just Florida allergies." Mind you, I've lived in FL ALL. MY. LIFE. I would constantly clean my room (vacuum, disinfect and dust...EVERYTHING) and I've killed many MANY roaches in my room alone. Mind you, I was on the 11th floor, very very far from the ground level. Also, the laundry rooms are absolutely disgusting and very cluttered. They seem to never be cleaned either. Not to mention the entire floors which contain the laundry rooms are 90°+. Moral of the story: This place has a BAD roach problem, mold problem and terrible facilities. Save yourself some money and sanity and just SKIP THIS HOTEL.

Yelp
First time here but not our last! This place was downtown, very close to all the happening spots including Curtis Hixon Park, which is why we picked it, but does NOT cost a fortune like most downtown Tampa hotels! I got a great rate thru a hotel discount webpage. It is also across the street from Tampa Riverwalk, which is also super nice. The restaurant and bar within was great (Waterworks see sep. review) and they had a free shuttle every 30 minutes which was very timely and even took you to Ybor. The room itself had no issues, I asked for a king and it was two queens, but that was no issue and gave me a huge staging area for dressing and makeup. An interesting fact is most of the floors are owned by University of Tampa as dorm rooms for Seniors and Grad students.

Yelp
There's hair, chips, floors aren't cleaned, lamp is dirty. The door gap my toes can fit under the door. We could hear everything through the walls. Drain in the shower over flowed. They wouldn't change our room. They had maintenance guy come in and drain it right then. I'm just gonna throw this out there my husband and I were having sexy time and we had to stop to let the guy in. This is something they should of changed our room for when I asked. Should have done this on their own time do this!! We will see tomorrow if I get a rebate or something. Like no this isn't right.

Yelp
The Barrymore was the only hotel near the convention center that offered per diem rates, so I really had little choice. I really liked the hotel shuttle that will take you around downtown and the airport. I did not like the hotel bar. I was very disappointed with my mixed drink. Stick with the bottles or drafts. The hotel decor and carpeting looks dated, but the hotel room was comfortable. Bring slippers or extra socks so you can walk around the room. Toiletries in the bathrooms are nice, and the bathroom itself seemed modern. Hard to say in a fan, but for the money seems like a very good option.

Yelp
This hotel reminded me of a scene out of the 80's series Miami Vice. Rooms are okay, pretty clean, but could use some improvements. Bathroom floor could better cleaned. I had no working fridge, so wound up buying cold beverages from the vending machines or relying on ice every night for a cold beverage. Staff is nice and friendly. The restaurant in the hotel lobby is okay. Nothing to write home about.

Yelp
Well let me start off by mentioning my eagerness to stay here..Front desk help ...Cara was fantastic....Check in smooth. . I was staying 4 nights and I love to rewind after flights .. Post Covid cleaning ((rooms)) was poor at best, dusty, broken toilet seat, and an air conditioner so loud i could barely rest at all. The floor hadn't been vacuumed either. Not sure if dogs were allowed, but hearing them bark definitely was a turn off.MAsks werent enforced and that alone, should be rated a 1. My last vacay with my teen before school was mediocre at best. Thank goodness we did lots of outside things

Yelp
Great location on the river walk however we are really disappointed with our stay here. The hotel is old and dirty. Toenail clippings on the carpet and pubic hairs on the bathroom wall to say the least. AC helps keep the room cool but not cold. Dirty air vents and dirty rooms have us congested. We are tired from travel and just want to rest for a few hours before leaving the hotel. Also has stains on the toilet seats and walls from likely the teenage boy that was here before us. The only reason why we gave it the 2nd star is because there are no crack addicts in the lobby (i think they are confined to the 2nd floor).
