The Best Ski Resorts in Europe for an Under-the-Radar Getaway | Vogue

"A subterranean hangout inside Tschuggen Grand Hotel, this is the most fun of the property’s five restaurants, serving Alpine comfort food—homemade apple strudel is a must-order—and even has mini bowling lanes." - Chadner Navarro, Nicole Kliest

If I could put 0 stars I would. Tonight my best friend and I were at the basement when a female shoved my friend and her boyfriend proceeded to call my friend ugly, fat, and names I can’t say on here because of how vulgar they were. The bar tender by the name of CHANDLER watched the whole thing happen and was laughing in our faces while a grown man was yelling and insulting a female in front of everyone. The man doing the name calling proceeds to say to CHANDLER “kick me out” acting all big and bold. CHANDLER proceeds to laugh hysterically. The treatment of the customers is absolutely horrible and the fact that they have a male bar tender appaulding a grown man publicly insulting a women is absolutely disgusting. I would NEVER in my life recommend anyone to go to this bar and be served by CHANDLER.

I went on a Monday night, right when it was dead for most of the bars around. I enjoyed all the drinks their and the bartender was nice and awesome. You should get their loaded Caprisun (it taste just like it, with a tiny bite to it.) There's darts and another room with certain stuff to do but they didn't open it because it was dead.

Unless you know the bartenders you'll be ignored and waiting a good while for another round of drinks. Bartenders last night were either on their phone, taking shots, or talking in the back. The spot attatched to them that sells smashburgers was really good though, would definitely go back for that.

The darts have remote games and are pretty well kept but the service is so bad from the door to the bar nearly Everytime I ever walked in. Not worth even putting a quarter in the dart machines to even be around the filth... Poor management, staff and security

The music here is pretty good and up to date but I went on a Thursday and the bartenders seemed uninterested. Drinks are reasonably priced. Decent bar to go to if you’re just looking to sit at t bar with good music.

Hell of a dive bar, so much fun, great people, great service. We loved it here

Yelp
This five star rating is purely reflective of the their jerk chicken tacos! Absolutely in the top 3 best tacos I've EVER Had. Blown away!!!

Yelp
This place is pretty cool. They have loaded Capri-suns they are awesome! Mostly a younger crowd is here but if your looking for some Good drinks and some loaded Capri-suns this is the place to go. It's in a good location in downtown. Walking distance to everything

Yelp
What kind of establishment are they running? Their excuse to not let my family member in is that they need something to scan. He's visiting from another country and all he had was his passport. They tried to scam him by asking for $20 to be able it let him in. I heard them do the same thing with a different group that were all underaged. When I tried to ask the security guard why they don't accept valid passports he got really defensive and very condescending and wouldn't let me speak.

Yelp
Loaded. Capri-Suns. Need I say more? Smaller little bar in downtown Orlando that is always packed full with people. Just as you would expect for a downtown Orlando location. Not the classiest of places but a great place to stop by with friends on a bar hopping Friday night.

Yelp
Love coming to basement! Always a good time and you can dress casual to super dressy. It's usually a spot we hit up first when bar hoping. The bartender Justin and Allison (siblings) are by far the sweetest greatest bartenders there! I mean everyone there is awesome but I usually like going to them. I started going to basement before the jimmy hulas was there and Allison would be at the less packed side bar. Great service and a good mix of college students but also older people.
google avatar

Chellie R.

Yelp
We were greeted by shots upon entrance while visiting! Which is always a wonderful to start the night. The bartenders were very kind and attentive! The establishment itself is a bit grungey for my liking and is a very "college bar". It's a bit tight in there but if you're looking for a spot to go with friends, this seems like the place to go!

Yelp
My nights out in undergrad consisted of going with my friends to basement & using our points app to get 2 for 1 on the loaded Caprisuns they sell here. Then walking over to shots & buying a few things there. A great place to stop for bar hopping!

Yelp
Great place good drinks amazing food! I would def come back. Prices are decent and drinks are stiff!

Yelp
This is definitely an okay bar in downtown Orlando. An upside is their spiked Capri Suns, at $5 they are a steal, and so delicious! I tend to hit The Basement up before Orlando City games because it is a convenient spot on the way to the stadium. The downfalls of this place is that there really isn't anything too special about it and it can get very busy with little help from behind the bar. I've had to wait so long for service once and the bartender was so rude that I actually walked out. There are too many other great bars in the area. All in all a solid 3 star experience. I'll go back, but it won't be my first stop on a night out.

Yelp
Pretty standard sports bar downtown, but I love it for several reasons. The service is not pretentious (which is becoming a 'thing' in downtown if you've noticed), they have darts (SCORE) and the addition of the Hawaiian food place next door (which you an order at the bar) means the pub grub is a cut above. Give it a try!

Yelp
This review is on my initial visit, which was a simple "hmm, what is this place...might as well grab a drink" as I strolled through downtown on a Saturday afternoon. The place was slow due to it being mid afternoon, but there was a jolly crowd huddled up to the bar. The specials at this time were pretty decent with offers of $2 coors lights and a shot special of some kind. It was connected to Chi Phi, which seems like they had some decent fare from what I could tell of the items being brought to the fellow afternoon boozers. There was plenty of open space, so I can only imagine how packed this place can get on a good football weekend! Overall, I had no complaints on this place and will swing in when downtown wandering the streets on a "funday".

Yelp
Stubbles upon his bar during the World Cup. It's a quaint little bar in the middle of downtown. Drinks were good and service was great. The only downfall was that they didn't serve food. This was a problem for us as my party was drinking at 11am.

Yelp
Hands down the best celery sticks in Orlando! So crunchy! So refreshing! So celery-ey! When paired with their unbelievably creamy and delicious Ranch sauce, it rivals an entree dish from Victoria and Alberts. Should you ever find yourself in Orlando and craving celery sticks, definitely stop here!
google avatar

Yelp
I hesitated to go in here, as I had a bad experience when there was a supposedly separate business operating in the restaurant half of this downtown dive that I did not care for. Upon realizing that The Basement was now unquestionably operating their own kitchen, I stopped in here for lunch one afternoon while downtown. and was impressed by the food. Nothing overly gourmet, but bar food done very well! The pretzel bites were especially warm and delicious with great cheese dip. Would definitely grab again for a quick fix.

Yelp
My bartender Angie was super friendly and funny. She recommended great drinks and made the tastiest shots

Yelp
Do not even think about walking in to this establishment of you are not 22 1/2. Not there is anything wrong with being with that young but... Yikes. It was like two frat parties exploded on each other. The scent of fresh bleach was quite overwhelming although I'd rather that than the fresh scent of vomit that likely preceded the bleach. We never actually got to the bar to get a drink so I can't review the actual thing we went for but I don't think even the most amazing of vodkas would make this more than a 2 star stop.

Yelp
Love this place it's my first stop when I hit downtown ! My favorite Bartender is Allison she is amazing always makes the best drinks ! The atmosphere is casual and welcoming , also they have adult caprisun's and if you don't know what that is . Make sure you try it lol overall it's a perfect spot to simply unwind and have a few drinks or get turned up with your Friends. The music is always good they play all genres of music . Good vibes and good people !
google avatar

Yelp
Ehhh... an "ok place" to hang out downtown. Music was good... but they're so many great places downtown, I feel this place is not worth it. I guess that if you feel like dancing, it's not a bad place to have fun with friends. But if you just want to chill... The Hen House, The Woods, NV Bar (also known as Bauhaus), The treehouse... tone of other awesome places.

Yelp
What fun! Located next-door to Chi Phi, an internal doorway allows you pass between both businesses with ease. At night they close the entrance to Chi Phi entirely and card you as you walk into The Basement. They lured me in with promises of $3 shots of anything. They are not kidding. Anything you see in stock they will pour into a shotglass and serve it to you at any time of night. They also have a decent happy hour. The staff is energized and optimistic. It has a good vibe. While not too busy at 5:30pm on a Friday, the place quickly fills up later on. The live music (single guy with a guitar) is good and entertaining but it can get very loud. Don't expect to have any in depth discussions about Syria at this point. I'm particularly fond of the artwork. Everything has a prohibition theme. Very cute. The bathrooms are a solid 4 out of 5 stars for cleanliness and cuteness (it's hard to compete with Noodles & Rice).

Yelp
I've visited this establishment a handful of times (alright, maybe two handfuls) but I felt compelled to write a review about one of the newest employees at 68 E Pine Street. Often times the bartenders steal the spotlight from the behind the scenes crew, and I have to give it up for Zack (sidebar bar back) for doing his part too. Although Zack's primary responsibilities are to support the bartenders, he ensures he is providing exceptional customer service to all the bar patrons as well. The main credit is due to the management at Basement for once again recruiting top talent and hiring the right people to make this place the best bar downtown. Keep up the great work!

Yelp
We went on a Sunday afternoon to watch some NFL games. The place looks nice. The service wasnt too good. A lot of confusion on orders. The wings were average. Their nachos were pretty good though. Not a bad experience, but not a good one either.

Sabrina G.

Yelp
Basement was a very nice atmosphere. Great drinks and great prices. But, we had a not so pleasure encounter with a female bartender named 'Angie' who decided to be unnecessarily rude to everyone in my group for absolutely no reason. She made very ill-mannered comments towards us after giving her business and tips all evening. Also, was on her phone instead of serving customer. Other than this pretentious bartender, our evening was lovely at 'Basement'.

Yelp
Had a great experience on a Wednesday night just before Halloween. There was an event going on with The Sip and there was a Halloween contest before trivia night. Great time, good food and great drink prices.

Brandon B.

Yelp
Awesome place, the security was an ex military and a very nice guy who was also really funny! Overall the drink prices are great and the staff was ever greater! They are home of the loaded kaprisun's which are absolutely awesome!! Always got some room in there which is a great get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown!

Yelp
Worst bar ever I won't go back. I ordered one drink and gave them my card to close and give me a check. And somehow between me and the cash register the bartender was so wasted he lost my card. And then didn't care to find it. They were too drunk so they did not give two shits. My boyfriend yelled at them to find it but instead the bartender tried to pick a fight with my boyfriend who just asked him to find it. I eventually grabbed a sober bar-back and explained and he found the card because he was sober enough to read. And then bartender before that one was to drunk to stand and was grabbing people's faces. Don't drink at work especially when your handling people's credit cards.... Ruined my night just because you have to drink on your job.

Jpfoodie K.

Yelp
Great combination of sports bar and restaurant with Jimmy Hula's now as a partner. Best spot to watch local sports teams with a great atmosphere. Food and staff excellent also.

Angelique D.

Yelp
Best bar downtown!! $5 loaded Capri-suns, $3 drinks for ladies on Friday and Saturday nights, amazing brunch deals and the best music. Home of the prettiest staff downtown. 10/10!
google avatar

Arturo R.

Yelp
It was a weekday night, there were about 25 people in here on the night we decided to visit this place, drinks were ok, nothing special. Their selection of tequila is very limited, they also ran out of wild turkey, and all 3 of the bartenders were to busy posing for the ladies, instead of pouring the Fu@king drinks!

Evans A.

Yelp
The Basement is a bar that I've been frequenting since it's opening, Independence Day weekend 2013. It has one of the Best crowd of regulars and the staff is amazing. Wednesday's Trivia and Kareoke night hosted by Jake is a must go. Great way to celebrate hump day with everyone else that's looking for an excuse to party. They have excellent drink specials and some of the cheapest shots that downtown Orlando has to offer.

Heather D.

Yelp
This is the local place to go if you want to have a great experience! Ask for Daniel. This guy. This place. This is what you are looking for, folks. Im from Houston, but I'll be back any and every time I'm in town!
google avatar

Wendy m.

Yelp
I wanted to like you but it smells funny and the floors were sticky. The bartenders could use some more knowledge on drink making and what beers they have. I will say the prices are good and if you are a few drinks in you probably wont notice the things I mentioned.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
Being from Miami, I was SHOCKED to see drinks being so inexpensive here. $3 shots, $6 solo cups of alcohol...I mean, that's pretty awesome. Music was also on point. My friends and I had fun here. I felt like I was in college. :)
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Visited this place before going to EDC Orlando. It was 5 of us. We were the only ones in there but it was also 3:00. Went there to pregame and have a few casual cocktails before raging big time. Bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly. No complaints. I wish I could have been there on a sports night cuz I know this place would pop off!!

Alex J.

Yelp
been there on past 2 Saturday and will never go back again. the crowd was terrible, I mean there is only lesbian or boyfriend girlfriend couples there, no single person , but this is probably not the stablishment's fault. extreamly loud music. if fact so loud that could not tell the bartender what I wanted. so typed it on the phone and showed it to her. when I was sat down not only in side of my body but the whole table was shaking. you should never play that loud indoors in such a space. drinks are not cheap for a casual bar and the bartenders were extreamly unpleasant and with such attitude. very very boaring place too. just like a small neighborhood bar with out pool tables and much louder. I also noticed who ever was there was new to the place and also people did not stay in there for too long. every one seemed to be in a hurry to get out of there. I would not even go in that place again, even if the drinks were free.

Giancarlo S.

Yelp
Fun bar with good music, Don't get to chatty with the bartenders though, they will tell you how cute you are, give you their number, then never respond to a text and break your heart. Good wings!

The W.

Yelp
Unpleasant, obnoxious place. An unfriendly bartender with zero personality slammed my drink down for me. I went to the next room, and my ears were blasted by about a dozen tvs at max volume playing whatever game was on. Meanwhile, some hipsters knocked over a giant Jenga block game in the corner with a loud scream. The blocks hit the wood floor with a sound like a gunshot. I quickly left to find another drink to calm my nerves. Never again.

Nancy H.

Yelp
extreamly rude and unresponsive bar tenders.they act as if they are handing out charity food even when they see you, they do not even come close to take your order. so I just sat there observing other people and noticed the bar tender was not in a hurry to serve the guy who was standing next to me either, then after a while she asked that guy in a very unpleasant way, yeah? you next?.... and why would any one spend their money and pressious time at a dump like this? I know I would not. what a boring place too. I mean they play the worst junk music, that is on radio and every other place along with expensive drinks.
