Yelp
I was hoping to have a drink at a pub in the heart of Brighton's laneways, and this pub ended up being it. Actually, from what I can remember, with the exception of a couple of pubs on the fringers, this was the only pub in the Laneways (but only having been to Brighton once I cannot say for sure - I'm certainly not an expert). Anyway, the service was pretty awesome, and while I wasn't hungry my brother was a little insistant on having something to eat so he ended up grabbing the sausages as mash. When I was here the place was pretty quiet though, but still it was a pretty decent pub, and quite large as well. However the thing that stood out to me at least was the friendliness of the staff.

Yelp
It was exactly what we wanted! We had been wandering the beach a November afternoon + were wanting a pint and lunch. It was the perfect stop. The food was great, the service lovely, the room comfortable and the ales were delicious + local. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp. It was in the very quaint Meeting House Lane, a great spot on the corner, light and open and plenty of seating. Being Sunday we opted for the beef and chicken Sunday roasts. Both were delicious with huge helpings of vegetables all covered in mouth watering gravy. We struggled to finish ours, thoroughly enjoying every bite! Other food looked good too and they had plenty of options. A great spot!

Yelp
Great old British pub in the heart of Brighton's old town. With views of the lanes and a cosy open fire it is perfect to escape the wintery chill! They have great prices for beer and I may even write another review about the good pub grub I'm about to endure!!! OMG...life changing fish and chips! Was absolutely amazing! If you're in Brighton, you must visit this place. You won't be disappointed!!! Love to all. X

Yelp
Amazing hospitality. Good beer selection. Really amazing fish and chips. The bacon and blue cheese salad was great too. To me it all comes back to the way the staff treats you. Absolutely lovely.

Yelp
A cosy, traditional pub in the heart of the Lanes. The Bath Arms does not have anything particularly unusual about it, but it does all the things a good pub should do. Good, inexpensive food, a hearty atmosphere and a good range of drinks. For those who like real ale (I don't, but some friends do!), they always seem to have at least one option available). Food is available in the evenings as well as lunchtimes all week - something worth remembering as many Brighton pubs seem only to do lunchtime food. The place tends to get fairly busy at weekends, but rarely claustrophobically so, and it's not usually too hard to find a seat. There is a good range of different sized tables to suit the size of your group. Of course, the best thing about the place is the giant jenga, and dodging its falling bricks as you walk past!

Yelp
This is a great pub in the middle of the Lanes in Brighton. It gets really busy at the weekends, so you might have to wait a small amount of time to get a table, but the combination of good food and a large selection of local Beer makes it worthwhile. The mussels came in a huge portion, but were very tasty. One of many great pubs in Brighton, but I'd definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
Excellent bar tucked away in a side street. Small selection of local and national beers, but strong mix. Had the bangers and mash, delicious. If you want a surprise treat, try the artichoke/halloumi spring roll, you won't regret it. Clean bathrooms and free WiFi. Friendly and very cheerful staff.

Yelp
First of all - this is a pub with FIRE! Essential to autumn/winter drinking, I find. And it's relatively small so always nice and toasty. Second of all - the food is LOVELY. They constantly have some sort of festival going on, whether it's sausage and ale or oysters - you are likely to be in for a nice pub grub treat. I love it here for two main reasons: their steak sandwiches, whitebait and their UBER friendly staff who will bend over backwards to make your visit ever so pleasant. Definitely one of my top Brighton pubs :)

Yelp
This is a great pub situated in the middle of the Lanes. It has a traditional feel and is a decent size - not too small that you can't get a table, but not too large that it feels impersonal. The bar staff were super friendly and even chased us down the street when my friend left her iPhone on the table! I haven't sampled the food so can't comment on this but it's a great place to stop off for a drink any time of the day.

Yelp
Sunday Roast + Beer Festival + 2 Hungry People = Awesome We stopped in during our trip at the end of September and this immediately became our "go-to" spot. In addition to the great beers on tap they were also having a sausage festival that was fantastic. Above all, the staff were remarkably in tune with what they were serving - from the food to the drinks. Friendly, funny, and helpful. I couldn't ask for much more in a gastropub.

Yelp
This is one of my fave pubs in the Laines, its situated right centre of a maze of the alleys and looks so cute in the evenings with the seating outside and the fairy lights hanging between the buddings. The pub inside is pretty traditional with red decor, plenty of wooden tables and golds. The Sunday roasts are worth a try and they have a gorgeous regular traditional Brit menu with stews etc. There always a really nice atmosphere which is down to both the uber friendly and helpful staff the varied clientele. Its really popular with after work drinkers and is always rammed at the weekend, in a good way. Its a must see if your in the Laines as its always an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Before I'd actually set foot in the Bath Arms, I imagined it was similar to the Font: a large, characterless pub, with cheap 2 for 1 meals and not much else going for it! As a result of this erroneous lumping together, I ignored this pub for a few years. Finally, a friend of mine announced that she was holding her birthday party here and I was forced to swallow all of my preconceived imaginings, and give the place a go. Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong...the Bath arms is actually a really lovely pub! The interior is cosy and traditional- lots of dark wood and candlelit tables. We had an area reserved, and although things got pretty rowdy (as birthdays sometimes do), the staff were so friendly and had seemingly endless patience for our drunken antics! Even though the place was busy, we never waited long to be served and the drinks were reasonably priced. I now often pop in for a drink if I'm eating out in the South Lanes...highly recommended!

Yelp
This is a pleasant pub in the heart of the south laines, it has a very cosy and friendly atmosphere and is good to go to for a few laid back drinks after dinner as well as being a great place to go if you want to catch up with friends and have a laugh. It's got quite a traditional, warmly pub interior and comfortable sofas to sit on. The only thing I would say is it can get rather crowded sometimes, especially during the winter! It's got that wintery vibe to it. I've never eaten anything before, although I did notice they do quite appertizing sounding lunches as well as the standard pub snacks. Prices are fairly average. - Overall this is a lovely and cosy pub to go.

Yelp
I've crawled out of this pub on many occasions. It has a really nice atmosphere inside even if it does get a little over crowded now and again. The decor is really comfortable and cosy and in my opinion its better to head there in the daytime for a spot of lunch. They sell some good ales in here and a good range of lagers too and the staff, although not memorable, are nice and friendly. With its location right in the center of the laines, its easy to see why this place is so popular.

Yelp
I came here after a recent dinner in the South Laines, admittedly it was a Thursday, but despite being just gone 10 o'clock, there wasn't a pub in sight that was open. Then came the Bath Arms. I had a friend who worked here and always said how good it was, I was never tempted though, on account of the slighlty 'old man' looking appearance. I will admit I was wrong though, this is a charming and relaxing pub that allows you to have a quiet drink in a nice area. Drinks are quite expensive though, my bottle of red cost £15.95, which is a little bit more than you'd expect.

Yelp
Large open plan pub with central bar . Shepherd Neame beers ok quality . Its in need of a bit of paint and wallpaper glue but otherwise its clean and the service was good .

Yelp
This pub is class. Admittedly, on my first visit, the 'Ultimate Ambient Chillout Classics vol. 20' CD was a bit trying, but we stuck with. When the table service unexpected started and my Harveys started arriving without asking, and the best of Johnny Cash came on the stereo, my mood improved. We ordered food, and it was excellent. It turned into a hour session. I came back on the Sunday and had a roast, also great, and sat by the fire. I really like this pub.

Qype User (Bright…)

Yelp
I mostly pop in here because they have free wi-fi, some decent real ales (Black Sheep, Harveys, Broadside, Bombardier, Speckled Hen) and the excellent open fire. The fire is a genuine one (not a clever gas imitation) burning wood on top of coal. They do food, though I've never tried it myself. The piped music is a bit too loud and irritating for me. The wi-fi is provided by Loose Connection reception is better at the back, but is perfectly usable throughout (and no need to beg for a code). The gent's toilets are very cramped. As can be expected for a pub in the heart of the Lanes, many of the clientele are day trippers. I've spotted Mark Williams from the Fast Show in here (though I think he actually lives in Brighton).

Yelp
Really cosy pub in the Lanes (or is it Laines) area in Brighton. It has free wifi and serves rocking Sunday lunches. I had an enormous plate of roast beef with some very well cooked Yorkshire pudding, tasty gravy and nice non traditional side veg of red cabbage. The roasties - parsnips and potatoes were also crunchy yet golden. It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and you can watch the shoppers make their way through the wacky little shops in the Lanes.

Yelp
Down the lanes of Brighton this pub extends away around the corner behind the bar. Plenty of beer options to keep the pub crawlers happy. Quite a dark place in the depths, and not the most comfortable in town. I would like some better places to stop in during a amble around the streets, but this will do.

Yelp
A lovely pub to really soak in the atmosphere in Brighton! Such a good seating area outside to watch passers by. Reasonable prices, the Aerpol Spritz is lovely xxx

Yelp
Hah. I've only been into the Bath Arms once, but it was certainly a memorable experience! Unbeknownst to me, a friend of mine happened to be working here, and, whilst stumbling through the Lanes with a friend, we bumped into him outside, sauntered on in, and, although already pretty drunk, decided to spend about £50 on a variety of cocktails, ranging from a tasty White Russian, to a series of liquid monstrosities conjured up out of our drunken, mental imaginations, such as Tequilla, Vodka and Whisky, with just a hint of lime. Naturally I was very ill the next day, but it was still pretty awesome that the staff here allowed us to engage in such creative experimentation.

Yelp
Friendly, helpful staff. Awesome aesthetics, really cool location. We came in for a drink and decided we had to stay for the food.

Yelp
Classic British pub, great surroundings and the food is spectacular, highly recommended when you're in the area! Will be seeing you again soon Bath Arms

Yelp
If you dive off Ship Street into the south lanes you're likely to pass this rather unassuming little place without noticing. That would be a shame. It's a great place for mid shop tea or evening pints and, with a regular rotation of guest ales, it's a good place for the drink enthusiast. Having only visited the once I can only say that I enjoyed my pint and thought the atmosphere was good. Perhaps I didn't experience it fully but The Bat Arms seems to suffer from being in such a bar/pub heavy area. If it were situated further out of town it would be a great place but because it's near so many better places it's commonly regarded as average. Weekends draw the biggest crowds so I'd recommend visiting on a weeknight when the vibe is good but it's not like sardines in a can.
google avatar

Finn S.

Yelp
Wedged into the bustling South Laines area, this pub gets its fair share tourist wanderers by day and lairy entourages by night. Its traditional city bar room is inviting nonetheless, and you could happily nurse a pint in there, and escape the swarming weekend shoppers. Busyness aside, The Bath Arms is nicely central, meaning you can venture over to West Street and its assorted gratuities afterwards, or perhaps to an altogether more music-based club experience on the seafront. If you can get a table, you'll be fine whatever your grander scheme and there's a well-stocked bar to keep a group merry.

Yelp
A real ale classic in the labyrinthine lanes - gloomy, old school feel with decent staff & well cooked lunches. A good tip for the bored (mid-shopping) shopper, or if the weather is pants or it's winter and you like heavy beers & fancy an afternoon session! Great boozer.

Yelp
Pub in the heart of Brighton, down a tiny lane filled with jewellery shops. On entering the pub, you would be forgiven for thinking it was just another gastro pub. But actually it has a real cosy feel, with a real fire place and pleasant music and a family feel. The menu is surprisingly short and the food is excellent. The roast was one of the best I've had when eating out and I even like the veggie options which is unusual! The bar staff really make the place though - very friendly, knowledgable and very attentive table service even when they're busy at the bar. Good range of ales and wines. I was impressed that they had stopped selling pork scratchings as the pig skin they had been getting just wasn't good enough quality - certainly a lot more pride in their service than your usual pub.

Yelp
I had a burger and it was very good. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth the price. I enjoyed the chips that came with it, they were wedges, and the complimented the burger perfectly. Friendly staff, and a great place to go with friends!

Qype User (Subflo…)

Yelp
Can't say I've ever found this pub to anything particularly special. Ordinary decor, adequate food, although staff seemed pleasant enough. I've always regarded this as a place to pop into on the way to somewhere else, as opposed to somewhere to spend an entire evening. Tucked away in the heart of the laines, I can't think of too many discerning qualities that set it apart from anywhere else.

Yelp
Bath Arms has a great location in the middle of the thinnest winding alleys of the lanes. The outside is lit with fairy light over the path, which makes sitting on the outside tables a lil bit magical. The inside is cozy and bigger than it seems from the outside. The pub gets a mixed crowd of young profs and olde ale drinkers. Generally just a really nice boozer.

Qype User (cozmo…)

Yelp
Without a doubt The Bath Arms offers the best Sunday roast in Brighton. The starters are great and very tasty however you do run the risk of not being able to finish your roast! There is always a really nice cosy atmosphere in here, the staff are very friendly and are eager to please.

Kimberly K.

Yelp
Very cute and authentic with a fun view out the window of the tiny winding streets. The fish and chips was great! The parsnip & green apple soup was divine.

Yelp
The Sunday roast we had was amazing and the staff was really friendly. Would definitely recommend it to anyone

Yelp
Visited this pub on Tuesday afternoon. Lovely Pub, very quirky with friendly staff. How ever the toilets need some attention. The smell was quite unbearable.

Qype User (fiftyf…)

Yelp
The service was good but the food was adequate at best. I had the vegetarian option as I heard it was supposed to be good for veggies. The chips I had on the side were terribledry, mealy frozen things that I wouldn't even cook at home. As a pub, I sort of expected the vegetarian option to be crap but I don't know how you get chips wrong. Maybe the chef was having a bad day; however, I will not be returning.

Qype User (phawk…)

Yelp
cracking, traditional, real boozer/pub. good atmosphere (lots of chat, quite background music), friendly clientele, good staff, good beer, no rowdy alcopop kids real fire. now I have found it I will be back again next time I am in town.
