17 Places to Mentally Escape To While Waiting for Election Results

"Strewn about a sun-drenched beach on Virgin Gorda Island are a number of massive boulders known collectively as “The Baths,” and hidden around and beneath these titanic rocks are a number of pools and grottoes waiting to be discovered by leisurely vacationers. The Virgin Islands are known for their scenic vacation spots but few are as unique and wondrous as The Baths. Huge rounded stones composed mainly of granite are piled up on top of each other at the Southern tip of Virgin Gorda, left there by volcanic shifting that deposited the great rocks and shaped them into their present shape. Thanks to the largely spherical shape of the boulders, they settled over one another imperfectly creating a short system of voids within the piles, many of which have partially filled with sea water, creating magical natural grottoes. The rest of Virgin Gorda is no slouch when it comes to beauty, either, with a number of golden beaches and even some abandoned industrial ruins.  Unfortunately, such beautiful natural wonders could not stay hidden for long, and now the rocky maze of tidal ponds is a well known vacation destination. Yet no amount of gawking tourists and sunbathing beauties can ruin what is one of the most amazing natural phenomena anywhere on earth." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

The Freedom of Chartering a Catamaran in the British Virgin Islands

"The next morning we're there, and our excitement builds as we anchor near its most impressive natural attraction, a national park called the Baths, where massive granite boulders form grottoes you can wade into."

Too much walking to see a formation and a tiny crowded beach. Very touristy, full of cruise ship guests. The walk to see the cave is very tight towards the end. There are alternate routes. They do all take 10-15 mins of walking. Much better things to see in Virgin Gorda.

So beautiful, a must see spot! We went early (07:30ish) before all the charters and cruise ship people. Practically had the place to ourselfs. We swam to the beach off our dingy holding our shoes and dry bags with our phones inside etc. We didn’t wear our shoes at all and didn’t use anything in my bag other than my camera. Most of the time you’ll be walking in the water, on sand and a dirt path so if you don’t mind getting your feet a bit dirty, don’t take shoes. Just take your phone/camera and maybe a water bottle :)

One of the best experiences to do. We got there in the afternoon by speed boat. The Baths at Virgin Gorda is a natural wonder, featuring boulders and caverns that make up a maze that leads to secret rock pools and the famous Cathedral Room, a natural pool inside a small cave. At the end we snorkeled at Devil's Bay. When we got back to the pickup area, the owner of the some of huts at the taxi drop off area let us take in the stunning view from the Top of the Baths at his bar. He has restrooms and the beer is local.

Amazing walk, really fun with kids. Can be busy at times when cruises are docked on Tortola. Definitely a must do

The Baths is a fun place to visit on the Virgin Gorda Island in the British Virgin Islands. Tours are available from the nearby islands in the British and US Virgin Islands. If you're arriving by sailboat like us, you have two options. You can anchor offshore and swim a short way to The Baths, or you can sail around to the backside of the island and hop a cab for about $20US/person. We did the cab route, very easy. The Baths are basically a formation and hundreds of very large boulders, and there is a trail through them that leads you to and from several beautiful beaches. It is very walkable, but there are lots of steps and a few slippery spots. Caution needed when venturing through the boulders. Getting through the entire maze takes about two hours, especially if you stop to enjoy the beaches. Several snack and drink locations are located around the entrance. It's a nice place to spend part of a day. If you're planning a visit, you may want to ask around, it can get pretty crowded with tours and cruise ships in the area.

The beach at The Baths is truly the most stunningly beautiful thing I've ever seen. If you wind up in Tortola, BVI, make sure to ferry over and see this park.
