The food delicious with complimentary bread and olive oil on arrival. Flo was a wonderful waitress and the fish of the day and seafood linguine was divine. Would visit again! Visited on a Monday night and would recommend making a booking if more than 2 people as it was quite busy 😊

It’s a good service there and decent food. Very good presentation of the food, quite tasty we all enjoy the food really well. But just we still feel hungry after that. If you want to have a to have a satisfied meal there, including cheapest wine, $100 per person will be the price you looking at.

Dinner at the Bay was lovely. Service was friendly and welcoming! We had the pork belly starter which was juicy and tasty! Our mains were seafood chowder and the beef rib that we felt were sumptuous but missed the mark slightly! The chowder was heavy and it was unexpectedly to find smoked salmon in it. My beef ribs were tender and juicy, but the accompanying roasted carrots and potatoes made it somewhat heavy, glad we ordered a serving of greens. Food menu was a bit limited but overall pretty good! Breakfast was on the card spot on with a simple buffet and a big breakfast, thanks

We had our first dinner in Tasmania at The Bay Restaurant and it was outstanding. The Nepalese host was welcoming and friendly. The dishes we ordered were fresh and the flavours were complementary. The seafood chowder was something out of the ordinary, but in a very good way. The fish of the day - salmon was very well cooked, which is very important. The crackling skin on pork belly was superb. All in all, a very filling and satisfactory meal.

During our two night stay at the Freycinet lodge, we loved our morning breakfast and dining experience at their restaurant, The Bay. Though the vegetarian options were few in the menu, we were impressed by the hospitality of the service staff and the beautiful presentation of the food. A special mention of Pauline and Sydney who were both extremely warm and attentive while serving us and made sure we had a good hearty meal. Thank you for the wonderful experience :)

This restaurant is inside Freycinet Lodge. The views are amazing looking across Coles Bay, especially at sunset. We had breakfast & dinner there. Breakfast was underwhelming. However, it was part al a carte, which was preferable to a buffet. Dinner was a little better than breakfast. Food was tasty & locally sourced (so we were informed). We enjoyed the pumpkin ravioli with caramelised onions. Nothing really blew us away, but nothing was bad about the meal.

A Culinary Experience Amidst Natural Splendor Nestled within the pristine landscapes of Freycinet National Park, The Bay Restaurant at Freycinet Lodge offers an exceptional dining experience that harmoniously blends gourmet cuisine with breathtaking vistas. While the pricing leans towards the higher end, the combination of an 8.5 out of 10 flavor profile and the mesmerizing sunset views over Great Oyster Bay makes it a memorable indulgence. The menu at The Bay Restaurant showcases contemporary Australian cuisine with a strong emphasis on fresh, local seafood. One standout dish is the Seafood Tower for Two, featuring a lavish assortment of Melshell oysters, poached scallops, tiger abalone, cold-smoked salmon, pickled mussels, clams, smoked ocean trout, and a grilled whole fish. This platter not only exemplifies the culinary team’s expertise but also highlights Tasmania’s rich marine bounty. Another notable offering is the Sous Vide Atlantic Salmon, artfully paired with preserved aubergine, chili verde, pickled cucumber, coriander oil, sesame crisp, and adorned with salmon roe. The meticulous preparation ensures a tender, flavorful experience that resonates with the palate. The restaurant’s full glass frontage provides diners with uninterrupted views of the bay, creating an ambiance that is both elegant and serene. As the sun sets, the interplay of natural light enhances the dining experience, making each meal feel like a special occasion. The attentive staff further elevate the experience, offering knowledgeable insights into the menu and ensuring that each guest feels well-cared for. Dining at The Bay Restaurant is more than just a meal; it’s an immersive experience that celebrates the natural beauty of Tasmania and its culinary treasures. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the dishes, combined with the unparalleled setting, offers a compelling case for indulgence. For those seeking a gastronomic adventure amidst one of Australia’s most picturesque locales, The Bay Restaurant at Freycinet Lodge stands as a commendable choice.

Eating delicious food in a national park next to a bay after walking in that national park is a great experience. Very tasty and well seasoned entrees of Tassie produce was delicious. The mains were were were quite good, however would suggest they would benefit from a bit more depth of flavour and more sauce/jus. The desserts were great!! Not only did they look great and artistic, but were very tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful (we didn't have a booking on a night they were fully booked). I nice dining experience.

Yelp
One of two restaurants at the Freycinet lodge serving local cuisine. We dined there for dinner on the first of our two-night visit to the park. It's a pretty large space with tables arranged in tiers to take advantage of the nice views to Coles Bay The dinner menu isn't all that large-one beef dish, lamb, a gnocchi, couple of fresh fish dishes, a few sides and starters. I chose the local fresh fish and my wife the farmed local salmon and we also got the roasted garlic rosemary potatoes. The food definitely gets 5 stars for presentation with colors and texture galore but I was a bit underwhelmed by the taste and I certainly couldn't find any rosemary in the potatoes. Service was friendly and the pace quite relaxed. There's a nice drinks and wine list featuring local options. Bottom line-for me this is a good spot for dinner if you are staying at the lodge but not a place I'd make an efforrt to get to otherwise.

Yelp
Before driving up to Freycinet from Hobart, we were warned that there was little choice for food in Freycinet. We resigned ourselves to sub-par national park food as the price to pay for the beautiful scenery. However, the Bay turned out to be a really fantastic restaurant. We originally made reservations for later in the evening, but after a long day of hiking, we were so hungry, we decided to just head straight to the Bay. When we arrived, we realized it was actually pretty fancy, with uniformed staff and a well-appointed dining area looking out over Coles Bay. We were impressed by the menu offerings - every dish sounded interesting. I ended up with the beetroot and gin-cured salmon, a light and refreshing summer appetizer, and the quail special, which was delicious. We also enjoyed the local black lip abalone appetizer - the abalones in Tasmania are different from those sourced from Asia and definitely worth a taste. For mains, the other members of our party loved the eye fillet, which was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious butter sauce, and the southern rock lobster served with a tasty, savory miso broth and soba noodles - the lobster was huge! It's a credit to the service that we never felt uncomfortable during the meal. Despite the fact that we looked disgusting, we received excellent service. Erika was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks menu, suggesting excellent local wines and regaling us with anecdotes about the wineries. She also recommended the corn creme brulee with spicy chili popcorn for dessert. Though it certainly sounded strange, it turned out to be a really one-of-a-kind dessert that we really enjoyed. The Bay is such a gem - we were pleasantly surprised by every single aspect of the meal, from the wonderful service to the selection of local wines to the well-crafted dishes. Sometime towards the end of our dinner, we also were able to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the bay. It was the perfect ending to a really strenuous day and delicious meal.

Yelp
This was the best meal I've had in my trip to Tasmania. In a land of pricey tourist trap restaurants, this was definitely catered to tourists - but was not a trap. Here's what you get: - amazing waterfront sunset views - great waiting staff, better than I've experienced in some Michelin restaurants - white table cloth dining - amazing food, with an Asian fusion successfully executed - mains at only $30-$40 for large portions Given that you're going to be paying $30-40 prices for mains at other touristy restaurants, especially the ones at Bicheno, this is a no-brainer for lunch or dinner when visiting the Freycinet area. Oysters were fresh and large. The best were the Japanese-inspired ones with wakame and ginger - the flavours just go so well together! At $4 each, not the cheapest, but well worth it. Wallaby entree was interesting and unusual. The wallaby was cooked perfectly, still a little pink in the center. Seafood sambal stew for main course was generous and a little spicy, with authentic Malaysian sambal taste coming through. Lots of seafood in the bowl! The best value dish were the sides - at $10 for a side dish, it sounded expensive, but my side of beans asian style was almost as big as my main course. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone visiting the Freycinet area - it is a no-brainer for me to get a really good meal here at a very reasonable price for this area.
