first time us stile BBQ for me, so we are travaling from europe and saw that this was a high recomanded place, so of we go, we where friendly welcomed at the counter and the food options where well explained. didnt had to wait to long befor we got our baskets. nice vibe in and outside. the food? see the pictures. it was perfectly done! realy would recomand it to all. and the portions.. to big to eat it all. fair price 5 stars! for good bbq food.

Came here off a whim, was wanting BBQ. First off, they sell alcohol which was awesome lol. Fried chicken was probably some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Ribs were up there as well. I got the beefy beans and they were great too. Staff super friendly. You can tell that this place is locally run. Owner came in and was super nice to the customers. Would recommend 1000% over and over.

It was quite underwhelming. I had really high hopes from reading the reviews. The staff was polite, and brought our food to us. The food was nothing to rave about, to say the least. I guess it is convenient being near the oceanfront, if you want BBQ. There was no A/C aswell. Flies. There was people sleeping in one of the booths. Maybe it was just a bad day to go or something.

Last week I ordered from Beach bully it had grill marks on the chicken. I got to have chicken dark all dark. It came with a wing two thighs and some drumsticks however, today when I ordered, there wasn’t no grill marks. The chicken was pale on some parsley chicken it was just like a dark brown. It taste like something I have from Kroger‘s. It didn’t even taste like it was grilled or barbecue However, I did ask for no barbecue and a chicken, but there was no grill marks. I don’t know if this happened because they had all day or because I didn’t come in and order it so they can get a tip because some restaurants do that so you can get a tip they did it right the first time and I spent 60 something dollars The king ribs was OK this time last time like I said when I ordered it it was great taste perfectly grill. Hopefully I might order again. I don’t know or I may go in and get it.

I really enjoyed stopping here for lunch! The food was pretty good, but the service was amazing! The staff are so sweet! The pulled pork sandwich was really good! I wasn't a huge fan of the sides, but that isn't the main focus. I recommend stopping here for a good lunch and to help rejuvenate after a lot of walking!

Really solid pit beef. Fair prices. Sides were good too. Service very friendly.

I just paid $30 for beef lunch meat slathered in bbq sauce. I wanted brisket like thick, moist sliced brisket!!!! And I had the nerve to order extra meat🤦🏾‍♂️ Why is bbq in Va beach so damn disappointing 😭😭😭😭. Well at least my dog will eat good for a weak

The Beach Bully had a cool vibe, simple but we here to talk about the food.. Had the JOKER combo, with the beef ribs and brisket.. the ribs were awesome especially with the sauce they gave us.. The brisket was a little thin for my taste but if you ask for the bun and put it on a sandwich it's pretty good.. Mac and cheese was good after some salt and pepper.. the greens were a bit too vinegary but overall good.. It was a self serve so no waiter but the first employee we encountered was super nice..

There's the old saying "Barbecue is like sex. Ain't none bad, just some better than others." This was bad barbecue. I tried the platter with pulled pork, chicken and ribs. My sides were beans and collards. We waited 26 minutes for the order. The pulled pork was arid dry. No amount of sauce could save it. I tried adding several of their sauces and nothing helped. The chicken was extremely tough; nothing like chicken exposed to a long low and slow barbecuing experience, more like a hot and fast grilling. The ribs were way overdone to the point of falling completely off the bone. This made them too soft and dry. None of the meat had any smoke flavor, hinting that the meat was baked instead of barbecued. The sides were canned (Glory collards) and some type of canned beans with a little onion and green pepper added. Nothing special. I'm not sure if they've changed hands since the last time I was there or if they're just having a bad go of it, but this was inedible. I tossed most of it in the trash.

Greeted as soon as we walked in. Good menu choices and each of the three of us enjoyed our choices. Baby back ribs fell off the bone - with good flavor, not needing any more sauce (which was served on the side and very tasty. Decor is very simple and that was fine with us.

Sides were good, but the brisket was so-so. Pretty much a roast beef sandwich passed off as brisket. Good for a solid bbq roast beef sandwich, not so much for a brisket sandwich.

My family and I came here on September 22nd after leaving from Virginia Beach. We had a taste for some BBQ and heard this was the best in the area. I had order the BBQ sandwich platter with mac and cheese and collard greens. My fiancé order the brisket platter with potato salad and beans. Finally my stepdaughter order the brisket mac and cheese. We all tried everyone's meals to get an idea of the different offers. All of the sides were definitely amazing and worth having again. However, the meats from all our meals were dry and definitely required some sauce (they had flavorful ones but don't always like putting sauce on my BBQ) The brisket is not a fatty one and is trimmed of all the fat (per on of the employees) so doesnt have a lot of flavor which definitely didn't help the mac and cheese. Overall, it was definitely worth the experience coming and had GREAT, friendly employees who seem to be well loved in the community. However, I would not go out of my way to come back for the food unless I was with others who wanted to eat here.

My friend suggested this place after we left the Convention Center, and I left happy she did. The food was delicious (we had the pulled chicken and the pulled pork sandwiches and split them with the delicious hand cut fries - my greens were yummy, too)), and the staff were helpful, friendly, and attentive. Plenty of sauces to choose from to add to your meal. I really liked the white sauce. Nice casual atmosphere with that great bbq feel. Check them out.

Bad business decision to surcharge my CASH purchase. I pay cash to avoid paying the credit card surcharge but this establishment chooses to surcharge 3.5% on ALL purchases. I've been coming here for years but not anymore. Of course it's not going to break, me but it's the principle.

This place came highly recommended. Stopped in to buy some Pulled Pork BBQ to go. As I was meeting friends at a local campground and I was bringing dinner. Purchased 2.5 lbs and 2 servings of coleslaw. The coleslaw was good. The Pulled pork was awful. There was no taste, it was dry and seemed old. I was so looking forward to some excellent pulled pork....so disappointed. Never again.

So so so terrible. I'm not convinced the "brisket" is actual brisket. It's very thin sliced and has a strange texture. The bbq mac bowl tastes like stouffers mac and cheese topped with a steak umm. Save your money and try somewhere else!!

I love how close this location is to my airbnb. The workers are so welcoming and friendly. I didn't like the green beans too over cook for my personal taste but the onion rings and pulled chicken sandwich look and smell phenomenal. A variety of sauces you can choose from and a whole main you including sides. Definitely would recommend this location to anyone visiting Virginia Beach.

We stopped by The Beach Bully on a Saturday around Noon for lunch and the aroma of bbq was the first thing that I noticed. The smell was divine. Thankfully, we got there right before the lunch rush so it wasn't that crowded at all when we walked in. Since we were unsure of what we wanted, one of the workers handed us a paper menu and told us to take our time ordering. We both decided on the Monster Beef Platter which consisted of beef brisket and pit sliced beef topped with grilled onions. I ordered cole slaw and baked beans with mine and my boyfriend ordered green beans and collard greens. The Monster Beef is actually served as a sandwich but we both decided to opt out of the buns. Once we ordered and found a table to sit at, the food was brought out in less than 10 minutes. The condiments are self serve so we grabbed some of their house made bbq sauces and the mesquite bbq sauce was our favorite. The brisket (which was coated in light bbq sauce) was absolutely delicious and the pit sliced beef was pretty good. Unfortunately, the collard greens and green beans had no flavor and the baked beans tasted as if they were right out of the can which was a bummer. The cole slaw was okay though. Overall, the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the service was quick, which I always enjoy. We both agreed that we'd definitely go back for the brisket though because it was amazing!

I was in Virginia Beach for an Aerospace conference and wanted to get some local BBQ, which locals referred me to Bully. I was surprised it was t very busy but the smell told me the smoking meat was going to be good. It's an interesting layout with booths and table and a saddle seat but most memorable was the variety and quality of the sauces (BBQ), each was good and different enough from the others, with Carolina, Spicy, Sweet and Tangy all standouts, not a lot of heat but a lot of flavor. The menu is ginormous with sandwiches to Mac and Cheese, collared greens to Hush puppies and hand cut fries. I had the Beach Bully BBQ Combo of Carolina BBQ and Beef Brisket and it was finger licking and lip smacking delicious! The portions were very generous and the searing comfortable and spacious . The service was chill and friendly . The prices were a bit high but it is on a Main Street and in a tourist area, however the portions made it a good value and the food quality of taste made it a return choice!

Food was delish. Restaurant was clean and quiet! Staff members were very pleasant. I've been here several times and always happy with service and food.

Told us 20m wait it was over 50m was so frustrated that we just left without checking our bag.. half the order was missing.. Wasn't even busy and so many people were verbally complaining about the wait time. Food was 4/10.

Not good AT ALL. Nothing tastes like it was made in house. Especially the macaroni and cheese. Nothing and I mean nothing was good. I was so disappointed.

I was introduced to Beach Bully by my man whom loves this place and can eat here multiple times in a week. He has turned me into a fan of their beef ribs! I look like I should get the queen platter but I get the King platter!! I am not the biggest fan of their sides but the string beans are starting to grow on me. We've been here multiple times. This was the first time we actually set and ate. It's a cool establishment and they get quite busy. Customer is generally always good. They are a must try when it comes to the beef ribs they also have good fried chicken I wish some of these restaurants will offer zero sugar drinks instead of diet so I settled for water.

I've been coming here for years. There must be new cooks, I did not see the regular guy. Food wait time went from 15 minutes to an hour. The order was only a pulled chicken sandwich and fries. Through observation, the cooks did not have a clue on what they were doing. Hope it gets better, won't be coming back for a while.

Uh-Maze-Ing. The whole drive down to VA beach I was convincing my friends to go here (which didn't take much.) I adore their pulled pork sandwich. It's so flavorful and moist even without added sauce, but their sauces are also incredible. I love their hush puppies and mac n cheese. Definitely do not leave this place without eating the mac n cheese. The potato salad was also great. Beans, also great. Can't think of a single critique. They even have coloring pages available for kids. I colored a Garfield and hung it on my fridge. I don't even like VA beach that much but I agreed to go with friends because I wanted this sandwich.

Best beef sandwich in town don't miss it sides great too tiger sauce amazing as well can eat outside and large enough to split

This is a fun, local place. I recommend the beef brisket,the pulled pork, the fried chicken, the hand cut fries, the beefy beans, the onion rings. and the hush puppies. There is a variety of sauces and platters are the best buy. The staff is always so attentive and helpful and they get the orders right. Ask about the green beans before ordering. If they aren't made their or with something extra, don't order them. This isn't a five star type- it's a very value.

This was a catered lunch for our practice. During COVID19, we are only allowed pre boxed lunched when being delivered. Super quick and welcome. I grabbed a box that said fried chicken, my mind was thinking a sandwich like on a bun. Much later and now cold box lunch, I opened when I had time to inhale this lunch box to find two pieces of fried chicken. I LOL, okay, pop this baby n the microwave and chose time. Even with the reheat the chicken was pretty good. Seasoned and reminded me very very very much of FARM FRESH chicken. I've never been to their actually restaurants so this is first taste. The Mac n cheese was pretty bland. The convince won me over

Food was good I enjoyed the Mac and cheese bowl with onion rings. Beef was good and wife had the Brunswick soup which was good and hearty also. Easy on site parking.

Once again, Beach Bully did not disappoint. I had the pulled BBQ chicken sandwich and enjoyed every bite. The sauce does not overpower the taste of the chicken and the portion size was significant. I always enjoy their fries and especially their onion rings. The person I was got the half smoked chicken and he could not stop talking about how good it was. The staff was very helpful and kept their composure during the busy times and kept the restaurant looking good too. I'll be back in the very near future.

We stopped in last weekend with a party of 7 during a lunch rush - popular place by the looks of it! Even though this is close to the oceanfront, there is plenty of private parking available which is a plus in this area. It's a casual, no frills spot - order at the counter, fill your drink and find a table. The staff will bring your meal. We were at the tail end of the rush, so things were quieting down and we were able to snag 2 tables together. Our party placed 3 separate orders and they all came out close to the same time. Collectively, we had a kid's burger, grilled chicken sandwich, pulled pork platter, Brunswick stew, and chicken barbecue along with sides of collards, green beans, fries, onion rings and puppies. The grilled chicken sandwich had bbq sauce already on it, which I would have ordered plain had I known. The bbq (pork and chicken) was raved about. Daughter loved her burger. The collards are like none I've tasted with a good balance of sweet, heat and tang. The green beans were way too peppery. The staff was fantastic and provided friendly, efficient service! They checked on us several times through our visit and I saw them cleaning and sanitizing tables once patrons left. I would definitely return to try something else!

Beach Bully Catering was great to work with from start to finish! Used them to service @250 for our company picnic. Angela was so helpful with menu selections and very patient with our ever increasing RSVP numbers! She followed up same day with each and very call or email. On the day of our event, they showed up 30 mins early, set everything up very neatly and the food was ready to go in plenty of time. Now let's talk about the food... our menu included, bbq chicken, pork ribs, fried chicken, pulled pork, mac & cheese, green beans, potato salad and cole slaw. Everything was delicious and the portions were fabulous! The ribs were the star of the show- so smokey and tender! Mac & cheese and the green beans were very flavorful and a hit with kids and adults alike! Thanks so much for helping us make our event special, we look forward to partnering with you again!

After reading several reviews about how great the BBQ was here, a friend and I tried it yesterday. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in my pulled pork/brisket combo. Even after adding sauce to it, which I don't usually like to do, the pulled pork was very dry. The flavor was ok but the very dry meat took away from that. The brisket was fair. I was surprised to see it cut basically as very thin bacon type slices. I guess that was done to make it fit into the type of serving container they use. The Mac and cheese was good. Nice and creamy and flavorful.

First, I want to take a moment and recognize the evening staff that were there 1/12/23 because we came in about an hour and a half before closing and oftentimes when that happens at any business-customer service can be iffy. However, that wasn't the case at all with their staff; they immediately greeted us and gave us a real warm welcome and really just gave us the best customer service. Second, the food- so, so, so good!! We had their fried chicken (great flavor and good amount of crunch), beef ribs (extremely good), brisket, and bbq chicken (also extremely good). It was like bbq you'd have at a cookout; very familiar and done just right! Overall it was a great experience and it is now our go-to for BBQ. Highly recommend

Old school BBQ goodness! Great location with friendly staff. Outdoor seating for our pup too! The sauces are great too for sandwiches.

I've never seen or tasted sliced brisket like this. It's like sliced beef for sandwiches covered in sauce. The pulled pork was ok, not very flavorful and dry. The onion rings were delicious The staff were nice, and the place was clean. For the price I would not recommend, no amount of sauce could make up for the weird taste and smell of the lunch meat brisket.

I would like to say food was decent, but the only thing we could focus on was how hot it was in the place. It had to be 90 degrees. Fix your A/C. No real structure to, service was mediocre at best and the place wasn't very clean,

Ordered our food at noon and was supposed to have it delivered at 7:15. They delivered the food to the wrong place and then refused to remake it and deliver it to us. Horrible service and definitely lost our business. Sorry your kid employees wanted to go out on a Saturday night but this is unacceptable. Also charged us for the order when we didn't get it.

Horrible food, horrible customer service. There are tons of much better restaurants around there for anyone to waste their time and money in this place. First the food, everything was slathered with bbq sauce, even the brisket. I have never seen brisket getting slathered with sauce. There was no smoke flavor and no taste other than the bbq sauce. Sides were equally bad. Now the service, no one approached, asked or looked at us as we went in. We found ourselves a table and walked up to the counter with my toddler on my lap and the people on the counter didn't even look at us. It was as if they didn't want to serve us. Nevertheless I said hi, and asked to place an order. The girl taking the order was probably new cause she asked me where was the brisket in the menu! I showed her and then she took our order but instead of charging me for 1/2 brisket like I explicitly asked for she charged for a brisket sandwich. When I asked her about it she told me I showed her on the menu where it says sandwich, I showed her that it also says by the pound and I explicitly said half lb. Another guy behind the counter looked annoyed at me and said I will get it without addressing the fact that she charged me wrong. If you are wondering if they were busy, they were not. They had 3 table of guests, each with 2-3 adults, including us. Place was basically empty. It did fill up as were leaving and I noticed they walked up to the hosts podium as the next group walked in. I have never noticed Racism in a restaurant until that day. The same people who didn't address us, didn't ask us if we want a table or high chair for my daughter while I was carrying her, walked to the podium to welcome the next group of white customers (we are from Indian subcontinent).

I always forget how dead the oceanfront area is in the off season! We stopped in here while in the area and we're one of few people within. Super friendly staff and quick service. Lots of good options to choose from. Everything was cooked just right and they had BBQ and Vinegar based sauces to top your meals with! First time stopping in and will absolutely stop by again.

Hoe-Lee Sheeeit This place has the best bbq I've ever had. Love these family run places. Ribs were INCREDIBLE. If I ever go back to VB, this place is first on my list.

Overpriced for the amount of food you get. I was very disappointed when I got back to the hotel and realized that not much food was in the bag. I purchased 4 meals and the only one that was a decent portion size was mine. I got the Kings combo and only the ribs were good. The chicken was nasty and had a weird taste and the pulled pork was just okay. I had to add bbq sauce and a bun to be able to eat it. The collards were HORRIBLE - all I could taste was straight vinegar. The mac and cheese wasn't good either. It tasted like something that had been microwaved. I really felt like I wasted my money being that almost all of thd food on my plate went into the garbage. I also purchased a salad which was over $9 but was the size of a small side salad. This doesn't compare at all to North Carolina BBQ - very disappointed. However, the staff was VERY friendly and nice!!

Heard this place had some good BBQ so I was excited to check it out, man was I misled. This place is the McDonald's of BBQ and I was not mclovin it.

Very saddened by the brisket. It's as thin as deli meat and not real BBQ. It's Arby's style brisket, and I felt cheated. No smoke ring, no bark, very chewy. The Brunswick stew is solid, but the beefy beans...have no meat. Please respect the art of BBQ and do right by the brisket.

The service was good and the bbq was very tasty. They have a few different sauces for your taste as well. The pulled pork and the brisket were great and their hush puppies have a great flavor too. Definitely try it to scratch the bbq itch.

I was extremely disappointed in the beef brisket. I had to throw it out. it was terrible. I usually have nothing but raves for the food, but tonight was a BIG fail. My money was wasted and I got nothing to eat, I was looking forward to having some well-seasoned, good tasting brisket and I won't do that again. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Single handle the best barbecue I've had ever. Juicy savory meats, tangy addictive sauces and it's worth the money . This platter stuffed my husband and I .

I'm pretty sure everyone knows The Beach Bully has good, NC Style BBQ. It's well documented. It's the bomb. But, how many of you know their chili is legit. It's a tad on the sweeter side, making it a bit different than other chili out there, most of which I avoid like the plague. But, I'd go here just for the chili. Chili also happens to be a great to-go item. It's built to be reheated. So, there ya go.

What a fantastic meal! Everyone that worked here was very nice and we received our food pretty quickly. I had the Mac and cheese bowl with Carolina bbq and it was incredible. My husband had the bbq and brisket and really loved them as well. I wish we lived closer, we'd be here all the time!

This was the first restaurant I tried when we moved down here from Maine, and was NOT disappointed. Their brisket and baked beans are flavorful and amazing. I have only lived here two months now and I've ordered this place at least 10 times and has been equally as good each time. Drooling over here just thinking about it.

This place knows BBQ! If you ever have a hankering for delicious sweet tangy smoked deliciousness, then this is the place for you. Best beef ribs hands down! Listen to me! Do not leave VB until you eat here.

The husband and I had dinner here on a stop over during our road trip. This is our first time eating here and some of our dishes were memorable. Good: The ribs were fall off the bone perfect and the fried chicken was great. We also had Mac n cheese and it was ok. Bad: The two things I didn't like on our plate was the greens because it was too vinegary and the pulled pork was dry. Would I go back? differently. We now know what to order to make it a perfect meal.
