"You’d be hard-pressed to find a more elegant and well-equipped place to stay by the water than at the 92-room Beach Club , which opened in October 2016. Sat directly across the harbor from downtown Charleston on Patriots Point in historic Mt. Pleasant, the resort is just a free, fifteen-minute trolley shuttle and seasonal water taxi ride from this Southern foodie haven. The Charleston Harbor Marina, adjacent to the USS Yorktown museum along the Cooper River, is the largest in the state, with 24-hour high-speed fuel service, showers, and laundry, and it can accommodate more than 450 boats with 17,000 linear feet of floating dock space for ships of all shapes. Families, staying in cleverly-designed 750-square-foot Parlor Rooms with a spacious balcony and extra twin-bedded room, can enroll kids aged 5 to 12 in the summertime Mini Mariners Children’s Program , with themed activities including lessons on how to tie knots, use a compass, forecast weather, or explore the history of the area’s wicked pirates. Parents, meanwhile, can retreat to a private cabana beside the resort’s 30,000-square-foot pool area or succumb to a Seaweed Body Wrap in the Estuary Spa. Modern Southern meals are served in the Fish House, occupying the same building as the creatively-curated Marina Store, selling everything from scented soaps, to short tomes on local history." - David Jefferys

The property is beautiful, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. However, for the price per night, the hotel feels lacking in amenities. There was no bellhop or room service available, and poolside service was very limited—ending as early as 4 PM. While the setting is stunning, the overall experience would benefit from either enhanced guest services or a more reasonable nightly rate. Additionally, the food quality at the poolside restaurant was disappointing and could use improvement.

We were able to get a last minute reservation for one night. When driving into the resort area, they have 2 hotels together and didn’t know which one to go to, so of course, we went to the wrong one first. They were very nice and directed us to go to the other building. |When we entered the hotel, we did not see any desk to check in, but a room off to the side with 2 desks that looked like where the concierge would sit. The desks did not face the doorway, but faced to the side, not looking out into front door. To our surprise it was the front desk. (The next day, upon checkout, we did notice a very small sign on wall behind a plant saying it was front office). Upon check in, we did have a hard time hearing and understanding the person checking us in as he sat behind a computer monitor and he did not make any eye contact. He did not offer any information about the resort or even a map of the resort. We had to ask about shuttle to go into the city. So we had to figure it out ourselves. After walking around a bit, we found that there was a water taxi that takes you right into the city from the docks in back of hotel.|The room was on the first level, which is not ideal, but for one night and last minute reservations we could not complain. |When we got into the room, it was absolutely beautiful. The furnishings were in great condition and the room was beautifully decorated. It looked just like the pictures they advertise. The place was spotless. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious with a soaker tub, glass shower, water closet and vanity with 2 sinks and a makeup area with chair. We had a sliding door with small fenced in patio with 2 chairs. The view was not great as it looked out over the walkway ramp and railings, beyond that the pool. Other than the issue with the view, the safe in the closet did not work. But the actual room itself was beautiful. The resort is well maintained. We will definitely go back to this resort in the future for a longer stay but on a higher floor.|Because of the confusion at check-in and not able to understand the person checking us in, I give it 4 stars.

Can't overstate how pleasant our stay at Beach Club was. It was amazing, astounding actually, how well run and efficient this Resort is operated. From check in to check out (5 days) everyone we encountered was simply on their game, courteous yet efficient.||Room was very comfortable, nice wide balcony overlooking the marina, the harbor and its varied boating (including commercial ships), just a wonderful Pool area, large and someplace for everyone, the Water Taxi to Charleston was (as said) on time, efficient, and pleasant despite windy wavy conditions, felt safe at all times. ||The Tiki Bar and Reel Bar were good experiences, courteous and efficient, the entire place was remarkably well run, a rarity today, kudos to management.||Would be remiss not to mention the Shem Creek eateries and lounges aka bars. What a neat place and only a short Uber from the Resort. Great seafood and libations and a parade of people walking the boardwalk. ||Yes, we highly recommend Charleston Harbor Resort and Beach Club as an alternative to the clustered homes and narrow streets of staying downtown Charleston.

Google
Great place for a family getaway and a relaxing time by the pool. Plenty of things to do around the property and the central part of town is less than 15 mins away. You take shuttle, water taxi, ride share, or even bike to town, but be careful of the heat 🥵 🔥 ☀️ it is very real. The next time you are in Charleston South Carolina stop by and take a load off, I am sure you'll love it.

The resort was beautiful and the people working there were very friendly and helpful. We will be returning here again soon. The worst thing about the place is we had to leave at the end of our vacation. The room was nice and the front desk people were amazing

Celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very spacious. Room was quiet, didn't hear other guests. Balcony was spacious with a beautiful view. Food was delicious at Fish House. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Resort. It rained the entire time we were there but the view was great. During periods of no rain we used the pools and they were great for kids. Clean and pretty resort. Very comfortable large rooms. No bellman though and no room service. The restaurant next door is horrible. It is understaffed and the wait time for coffee was 30 minutes and food two hours. The marina store does not even carry batteries and only has small bags of chips and snacks.

We just wrapped up a 3-night stay on the Beach Club side of the property and had a great overall experience. The man who checked us in was polite and thorough—he walked us through the property layout, shuttle schedule, and water taxi options. The hotel itself is stunning, and the rooms exceeded our expectations. That said, there were a couple of drawbacks. First, there’s no adults-only pool, which made it difficult to find a peaceful spot to relax. There were children everywhere, running from pool to pool screaming. Second, the on-site dining was disappointing. We found the food underwhelming and ended up going into town or to Sullivan’s Island for all our meals

Yelp
We had a great stay here... good service and bubbles upon arrival. Which was great, since it was difficult for our uber/lyft to find the place (which was the last thing we needed after a long travel day). Our room was lovely and had a great view. Comfy bed and nice fireplace to give a cozy feel at night. Large bathroom with plenty of space for two people to get ready at the same time.

Yelp
I was so excited to go to this place. We were going for my daughter's birthday, but from the moment I got there it was all downhill and they pretty much almost ruined My total vacation. We arrived pretty late at almost 11, so we were already exhausted. When we checked in they gave us a room on the first floor, and I specifically asked would it be noisy and was told no it would not. That was totally not true. We were right in front of the pool on the ground floor and we had no view because we had a high fence and we could hear the noise from the pool and noise in the hallway. But we were tired so we were just going to deal with it, but as I was getting ready to retire for the night, I got an email and a text on my phone that this hotel had just charged my credit card $10,413! So I'm freaking out because I had just put a large amount of money down on this card so that I could use it for my entire trip because it was zero interest. I go out to the lobby and soon as I started saying some thing about it they said oh yeah, we know about it. That it was a mistake and they will have the finance managers look into it tomorrow morning, I explain the situation and how I was counting on this card and I really didn't have any other money at this time and they really did not care so because of this I was not able to go to sleep until 2 AM as I was so stressed. The next morning first thing, I go down to the front desk and was told they're still looking into it and they would call me. I tried to go about my day and it was just so sad that it was my daughter's birthday and I had to rely on her and her finances for the next couple of days. The manager called me and said he didn't know what they were gonna do but he would get back in touch with me. He did not, so again in the afternoon I go up to the front desk. The finance manager finally comes down and tells me that there's nothing really they can do except for charge me for my whole stay and hope that that will release the rest of my money onto my card. After that I was not contacted again for my whole stay, no checking on me or nothing. That charge is still pending on my card and I have already returned home. Also, for a five to $600 a night hotel they had no room service, the room was old, it had paint and part of the wall cracked, gouges in the wall in the bathroom, I could hardly get the tub stopper to work, and when housekeeping cleaned, they kept leaving the pillows on the floor when we returned. I was never able to have a good cup of coffee while I was there I had to walk next-door to the sister resort to get a cup of coffee. However, the saddest part of all of this, when I told the front desk about the pillows on the floor , etc., and they knew how upset I was about how they had charged my card. I have no idea how they can make such a big mistake ad charging $10,000 on someone's card, but not once did they offer me any accommodation, they didn't offer me a discount, they didn't offer me a massage at the spa, they didn't offer me a complementary lunch or dinner at the restaurant , nothing at all acknowledging what they had put me through, barely apologized and did not seem to care that they had pretty much messed up my trip . Do not book this place you will be disappointed ,It is not a four star luxury resort, nor good customer service. I will never come here again.

Yelp
Poorly staffed; not well maintained; many things in room not in working order; efforts to have items repaired ignored; outside pool area dirty with mold/mildew in many areas including pool and umbrellas. In desperate need of some pressure washing.

Yelp
I'm so surprised this hotel does not have a higher rating. I found everything about this hotel from check in to check out and everything in between to be absolutely fantastic. Every single staff member we encountered was so kind and helpful and always had a smile on their face. Our room was absolutely beautiful, I am very picky. I am also a clean freak, and I am never fully comfortable away from home, but our room far exceeded my expectations. The decor was so beautiful, the room was huge. The bathroom was amazing and everything was so clean. I also very much appreciated how great the air-conditioning worked! I also really loved that the hotel has a shuttle, the shuttle driver was so funny and kind and it was super convenient to get over to downtown Charleston. I was here for five days, four nights at a work conference, and everything was perfect. Our meeting room was set up perfectly, if we needed anything they were super attentive, and each evening they would come in and re-set up the room, so it appeared very orderly the next morning when we arrived. All of our meals were delicious and everything was set up and looked very inviting. If I were to ever return to South Carolina, I would 100% without hesitation stay here again!

Yelp
Absolutely perfect stay from check-in to checkout. The Beach Club has a tasteful low country decor. Each area of the resort is a pleasure to relax in. The public areas are gorgeous. The pool areas are pristine and the water sparkles like diamonds. Our room was beautiful and tranquil. The view from our patio was unbelievable. Everyone on the staff is friendly and helpful. This means EVERYONE, from the housekeepers, to bartenders, to front desk, and the folks keeping the coffee station. A perfect stay. If there was one less than 5 star aspect, it could be the location. You are not in downtown Charleston area. If that is a problem, the hotel provides a shuttle for part of the day into evening. Don't forget to ask about The Candy Wall!!

Yelp
From check-in to after check-out, this place gets one big F. There's no customer help or service. You're on your own, like a cheap motel. There are staff around, but they all have the same comment: "I can't help you with that." What I want to know is what are they getting paid to do? The pool staff is understaffed, but trying. The housekeepers were kind, but limited in English. (The one star goes to them) There's no where to set your luggage in the room, and if you can find a luggage trolley to transport your own luggage, you're better off than most. The AC puts out a chemical smell. Water still standing in shower. Fish House is just par. And, I believe I left a pair of earrings there. MY BAD! But I did call. A long shot. So I called. They said they'd call me back. Never heard from them. Not surprised. Oh well! It's such a shame that this property is so mismanaged. It could be awesome. No worries. There are so many other beautiful places to stay in the Charleston area.

Krystle B.

Yelp
First time here. Looked at the reviews after the fact prior to arrival and was kind of nervous. I can not wait to come back. Concierge was kind and informative. Mask restrictions were just lifting. I felt completely comfortable. Majority of guest didn't wear masked which was fine by me. The atmosphere and views were gorgeous! Came on a Sunday and stayed several days. Sunday was pretty packed poolside. Early week was pretty thinned out. The only negative I have about the experience was that there was no coffee available in our room only in main lobby...which was probably due to covid restrictions. We will be back for sure! Give this place a shot, despite the reviews!!

Yelp
I was invited to a pre-birthday staycation at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina this weekend. We got to stay in the "Beach Club" hotel, which has a spa, conference rooms, pool, heated pool, and jacuzzi. It's all gated and you need your room pass to access most of the grounds, although it's connected to a pier that brings you to the Yorktown and to the "Harborside" hotel. From start to finish, our experience was top-notch. Jacques checked us in and showed us the ropes - including the coffee station that turns over to a HOT CHOCOLATE station in the afternoon (WHAT.). Our room was gigantic, or at least appeared that way with faux-hardwood floors, huge ceilings, and a gigantic bathroom. Everything was bright, open, and fresh. Our balcony looked over to Charleston and gave us the perfect sunset spot. I was also lucky enough to receive a massage at the in-house spa from Dana. It was one of the most relaxing massages I've ever received, complete with a neck wrap and essential oils. Most massages seem to be someone checking their corporate list and practicing the exact routine they've been taught; with Dana it felt natural and intuitive. The spa was dimly lit and offered amenities from reading material, beverages, and comfy chairs, to a bathroom complete with shower (and toiletries) if you needed to rinse off after your massage. Since I was staying on-site, I went back to my room to shower and get ready for dinner. We ate at the Fish House (see separate review) and then returned to our room. We put on the face masks we had brought from home, grabbed our drinks from the Topsail Lounge, and hunkered down to watch the Avengers. In the morning, we ordered in room service for breakfast before checking out. I didn't realize previously that the spa is open to anyone - you don't have to be a resort guest to utilize it - and they recently linked same-day spa services to being able to access the pool and Tiki Bar. The staff were nothing but friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, and I wanted to steal half of the decorations and furniture from the lobby. This was the best hotel experience I've had in memory, and I plan to return for future special excursions in the future!

K J.

Yelp
The staff is horrible, not helpful at all. When you ask them any questions the just point and mumble. There is no internet service. Don't plan on working at all while you're here. There are few places to eat that are close, and the what's here have poor service. Definitely not worth the price you pay here.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Resort is beautiful and rooms decorated beachy and nice size. Recommendations: needs an onsite coffee shop with lattes and the like and could even incorporate ice cream in one place. The shuttle to downtown should start earlier so can get downtown for breakfast since only on-site is one restaurant. Also wish water taxi was free $30 is a bit much.

Yelp
We chose to spend 1/2 of our honeymoon in Charleston & I found this beautiful hotel on a whim. With COVID-19 affecting much of our wedding planning we had gotten used to choosing things on blind faith. Wow! What a find this was. I can't say enough positive things about this hotel. It is immaculately clean, central to everything, and absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to come back!

Thomas C.

Yelp
Expensive, but not worth it. Wif? - never works. Looking for a pool bar? - closed. Trying to check in? - wait in line. Fish House restaurant? - awful. Sit by the fire pit after 10:00 (on Saturday night!)? - 'nope, we're turning that off.' I could keep going, but point made. Better off at a Days Inn.

Yelp
My husband brought me here during our babymoon. Granted I won't take away from the trip he planned for us because we had a wonderful time but there are a lot of issues with this place. First, the food and beverage program by the pool is very disappointing. This place claims to be a resort but the customer service lacks and their bartender complain more than they serve. I currently know how much your staff hates making frozen drinks thanks to their endless complaining. My husband would take breaks from the pool to read at the bar and it would take him an average of 10/15 minutes for anyone to approach him. He set his empty beer can at the end of the bar texted me and said he was waiting for 10 minutes. I came from the pool and sat there for an additional 5 minutes no one approached me. There were 3 bartenders behind the bar with him as the only customer at the physical bar itself. Second, the food program is poorly done. That's not pool food, it's a weak program put together to cut corners. There is no fresh anything on the menu it's just processed foods that don't match the scenery of lounging around a pool. My husband spent $3,000 to stay here and the "resort" aspect is lacking. The food is bad and so is the customer service. As two people who work in the beverage and food industry this truly isn't acceptable and their is clearly no leadership here. When planning to book here don't let the term resort play into your decision. Also, this place has bedbugs - the photo attached was when we left on our last day. I was bit the first few days and then he was absolutely destroyed through the last few nights we slept there...

Yelp
If you're wanting to get away and spend some alone time, maybe with a group, or special occasion with a significant other. I think this is the best place. We went for our 11th year anniversary and the ultimate goal was not a too crowded pool that has a bar/pool side service and it did just that. The food was not bad at all. It was extremely relaxing, the rooms stayed cleaned and a gorgeous view of the water. The staff was extremely nice and responsive. In the evenings if we wanted to get out it was a 2mile ride into historic downtown Charleston. Roughly 7-13 dollar uber ride (not bad at all) as we did this each night for dinner and bar hopped, but then during the day just played it lazy by the pool. I'd come back again in a heart beat. Could be a once a year thing. I didn't thing the price was too bad at all, but understand everyone's view on "cost" is different.

Jessica P.

Yelp
HIDDEN FEES! Please note that you must pay for parking and there is a resort fee, none of which is well known until you arrive. Be prepared to pay $30/ day extra that you were not expecting. If you stay in the "old" building, note that there isn't room service. You need to walk to their other resort to have the amenities. There is a "bar" in the old building that is not open too late. We arrived early, as our GPS was incorrect about the time, but we asked to check in early, hoping to get lucky. Unfortunately our room was not ready. That's okay, we will explore a bit. When we finally got to our room that "wasn't ready", there was dust on all of the furniture. For a room that was just in use, I really have no words for that. The remote (which is the most germ infested in all hotels) had a gross substance on it and I had to call to get that taken out. The room was okay, not resort quality by any means. The floor in the bathroom was cracked and in the cracks was dirt for days! The toilet barely flushed and you have to hold down the handle to make sure it will flush. The grout is filthy and needs a super power wash! The beds are super uncomfortable and nothing that we expected. The air conditioning did not work in our room... only the heat... geez... There is a shuttle service that is free and takes you downtown and it runs on the hour until 10pm. There are fire pits outside that can be lit on request (not during the hot months). There is a heated pool outside... people do swim in the winter... I am not one of those people There are a lot of summer parties that are offered, however, those too are an additional fee. There is a pantry to purchase last minute items, do yourself a favor and run down the street to get them, yes, I know convenience has a cost, but not 3x! Nice hotel, but not one that will be on the return list.

Yelp
At first glance this place seemed wonderful. It was our first anniversary and when we had booked our European honeymoon which was obviously cancelled due to covid. The photos looked amazing and we were excited to stay here. Our room looked gorgeous and we had an amazing view but then we started noticing small things that really took a toll on our experience. 1- we were in a handicapped room, which was fine, but the shower was basically equivalent to that of a gym locker room (which I don't use because they gross me out) so that was a little unsettling. My husband and I never booked, nor agreed to a handicapped room. 2- it was obvious the shower was never cleaned, there were loose hairs stuck to the wall in globs and we needed to ask housekeeping to come clean it again. 3- there were small red dots that resembled blood on the floor near the toilet, again showing it was not cleaned properly. 4- the pillows had long female hairs inside the pillowcase that were very obvious and pretty gross. 5- there were signs all over that stated masks needed to we worn in the lobby. Probably 80% of people I saw in the lobby were not wearing a mask and not a single employee said anything to them. 6- we called the morning of our reservation to request an early check in and told them it was our anniversary/honeymoon and they were so excited telling us we were going to get chocolate truffles. Those never came. They never even acknowledged we were celebrating. On top of everything else, that left a sour taste. 7- we booked massages at the resorts Estuary Spa, due to COVID the robes were in our room and we wore them down. One robe had pink stains all along the collar- gross. Our massages were fantastic though. Joe was my masseur and he was wonderful. We did enjoy the pool. Especially because it is off season and there were not too many people there. Would I come here again? Idk. It's not in downtown so every time we wanted to do something it was a little bit of a hike. We liked the idea of having a pool but honestly the grossness of the room really did me in on saying I would not return.

Yelp
We are staying here for our honeymoon following eloping in Charleston. This hotel is so beautiful! After only one day, I have nothing but positive things to say. We asked if we could check in early and they were very accommodating. Matt at the front desk even upgraded us to a balcony room overlooking the harbor for no extra charge! On the first day, we've already enjoyed both pools and watched the sunset sitting by a fire pit overlooking the harbor. Stay here! Huge rooms and bathroom with a two person bathtub. Our room even has a fireplace. We extended our trip because this hotel is so wonderful.

Yelp
The property is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious and well decorated. The spa and the masseuse are also great. However, service is severely lacking for the money they charge per night. As nice as the room was there were multiple issues we encountered. The bathroom was dirty, the sheets were stained, and we needed to call maintenance multiple times because the blinds and tub were broken. There was also no housekeeping available. You had to pay for the continental breakfast and the marina store ran out of water one day. Continental breakfasts are included in hotels charging half the price. The bridge bar was also closed the entire time. We were charged $75 to rent a cabana for half the day. We received no service with the rental. There was one girl waiting on the entire pool area. It took over an hour to receive our food and drinks. We also had to ask multiple times for an ice bucket. It was not the waitress's fault as she was obviously overwhelmed. When I did complain I was told the $75 was for the "shade". I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Every other resort I've been to there has been a designated server for the cabana. That's pretty standard in all hotels. They also charged a full resort fee daily. The parking was supposedly included in the fee, but the gate was open the entire time we were there. I realize it is still a pandemic and they are having issues getting help but the hotel did not seem understanding to people's frustrations. When you pay $400+ a night you still expect a certain amount of service, Covid or no covid. Everywhere else in Charleston we were met with wonderful service. I know multiple people who are planning trips to Charleston and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to them at this time. There are many other hotels in the area that provide better service and won't nickel and dime you at every corner.

Yelp
The WORST resort ever. Please do not stay here. There are endless problems, and when you try to address it with the staff, they respond with comments like "I'm hearing a lot of 'he said, she said'" instead of taking responsibility. Very expensive for a terrible experience. They also charged me twice for my room and refused to handle it, so I had to dispute the charges with my bank.

Yelp
Been here several times and truly enjoyed our stay. But there have been some significant shortcomings that really shouldn't be happening at a property such as this. First the good - This hotel is very handsomely furnished, with top of the line accessories, furniture, art and other decor. It feels airy and comfortable with tall ceilings and large spaces. We always go during the shoulder seasons for this type of property as that is when certain deals are offered. It is rarely crowded, so it is mostly peaceful and very relaxing. The balconied water front Kings are spacious with great bathrooms - Double sinks plus a vanity area, separate shower and tub, and closeted toilet all decorated in a bright white and grey tile. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are well insulated from noise. The views of the harbor, marina, and the Ravenel bridge are fantastic, especially on the fourth floor. The outdoor pool area is our favorite. If the sun is shining we tend to run a few errands and then relax by their immaculate, jumbo sized pool. The landscaping attracts hundreds of butterflies and the other plantings and trees create a tropical wonderland feel. If you don't want to take the free shuttle into town, you can use the water taxi which is steps away from the property. It is convenient and a nice way to get a mini harbor cruise in while you chug along to get to Charleston. Frequent dolphin sightings are common. The not so good - the newly implemented $30 resort fee seems to cover nothing. This is the first time we have been here since this was implemented. Luckily for us, the charge was waived as we got a special deal from a third party vendor. Even without this needless add on, a guest should at least be guaranteed to have help with luggage upon arrival and departure. That is a resort standard. Our items were loaded on a cart, then left in the lobby unattended. The gentleman later apologized profusely as the hotel sent him off to pick up guests from the neighboring restaurant while we checked in. So after looking for him, we finally gave up and wheeled our own stuff to the room. If a property stops a seasonal service, such as pool side delivery of food and refreshments, why continue charging the full resort fee? Our second day here was lovely and we, along with other guests, enjoyed time at the pool with not a staff person in sight. Upon check-in, no one explained anything about the resort or its services. If this was my first time, I would have been livid to be given absolutely no information. Unfortunately, This place is void of the Southern charm and hospitality often found in other establishments in the low country. This was evident upon check in when the staff person informed me that my name was not in the system. I quickly showed my confirmation. Another staff person was called to assist. I informed them that not only did I book online, I made a personal phone call to the reservation department of their hotel to make sure all was received and was in good standing order. I was assured that it was. This information was barely acknowledged, as the duo continued to stare at the computer screen. I felt they doubted me even as I showed them the confirmation. It made me uncomfortable and I was getting a bit insulted that I was the one put in the hot seat. It was discovered that the hotel had put in the wrong dates for our stay. No apology from the staff just a "well it seems the issue was on our end." Really? The day before departure, we were on a private tour of Charleston when the hotel called asking why we didn't check out. I explained that our reservation was for one more night. The gentleman then called again five minutes later still confused about our reservation asking me to stay on the line so we could 3 way with another department. I politely informed him that this call interrupted our tour and our guide was patiently waiting so I would have to call back. At the end of our tour, I called reservations and they assured me everything was straightened out. After a full day, we arrived to our room only to find our keys inactive. We never were anything but polite and gracious during this ridiculous debacle, yet the staff showed no concern and gave no apology. Very disappointed. We will give this place one more try hoping that this visit was the exception and not the rule.

Yelp
Husband and I just had a great stay here this past weekend! This is a beautiful, newer hotel in a great location - across the bridge from downtown Charleston, about a 15 minute drive to the beaches on Sullivan's Island, and less than 10 minutes to Shem Creek, with lots of great bars and restaurants. The hotel is right on the harbor, which makes for great views. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful; I think I got a "hello" from every staff member I walked past, and the guy that checked me in (forget his name) was very accommodating, providing me with a Charleston travel guide and a couple of area maps, and pointed out various points of interest, and also bringing me a bottle of water. Our room was beautiful and clean, and had a balcony with a view of the pool and harbor. The button where you could set a red light outside your door for "do not disturb", or green light for "housekeeping" was a nice touch; the light was changed to white once housekeeping had come, so we knew even before walking through the door that the room had been taken care of. There were a few small things that would have made the stay that much better, like having coffee in the room. The shower in our room also took a long time to warm up. I'd also recommend the hotel figure out a simpler solution for the gate to get on and off the property; multiple times I got stuck in a line of cars, waiting because someone couldn't figure out where they should scan their card or ticket. The actual box has 3 or 4 different places to scan a ticket, credit card, room key, etc. Again, pretty minor things overall, but things to think about for future.

Yelp
Made a reservation with the front desk manager The next day my wife passed away So I had to cancel the reservation and no one ever canceled it on the Charleston Harbor hotel side LindseyIs worst manager ever spoke to tell us 0 compassion at all Lindsey I proceeded to notify them within 2 days in April of 2021 I'm not showing up we're not coming we need to cancel they excepthey accept sequently did not process my cancelation so therefore they charge before $154 for a non show fee pray non Sophie I tried to call in August when I noticed the bill charged I was told that's the company policy we do not honor any request for cancelations it is the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life I will be finally complaint with the BB the Charleston chamber of Commerce and also the mayor's office of Charleston Who we are very closely tied with in family relations I hope this message finds I hope this message finds everybody who wants to go to Charleston Harbor a negative resort with the worst customer service I've ever had in my life I am a culinary institute of America graduate with a master's degree from Cornell and business hotel operations I have never had someone yell at me on the phone from their resort I'm their resort she basically told me I was a loser and should save my money If anybody else has any negative response to Lindsey or Matt they are the worst employees I've ever talked to at a customer service resort remember the hotel businesses for customers customers always right I hope this messaging finds everybody not to make reservation at Charleston When you have a death on the family life changes Lindsey Matt you'll realize that 1 day

Yelp
My fiancé and I had booked the harbor side for our baby moon and were extremely disappointed during our stay. When we first got to the room it was severely outdated, cracks in the paint and molding, doors didn't close right and overall dirty. We paid to switch rooms to the only other room left at the beach club side and the room appeared somewhat better but the light didn't work in the bathroom, there were bugs in the ceiling and walls and no housekeeping ever came during the 4 days we were there. We also found half the dining options to not be open multiple days making it hard to find somewhere open to grab lunch or dinner and multiple roaches throughout the resort inside. You'd think an employee walking past a dead roach on the floor would tell someone or pick it up but the same 2 remained in the same spots throughout the 4 days we were there. Extremely unacceptable and disappointing especially being from Charleston originally and I will definitely be spreading the news about this resort on my social media platforms and with friends and family.

Yelp
This may be the worst hotel I've ever stayed. It's completely isolated from anything you might want to do and has the most inefficient parking system I've ever seen. I'm not sure if it's poor management or the staff doesn't care but we waited for 2 hours for our room at check in (this after the posted checkin time of 4 PM, which what hotel has a check in that late?!). The staff couldn't have cared less and were totally aloof about it. During the course of our 3 night stay our room was serviced exactly ZERO times. The last night we were there we came back to find that despite calling the front desk 8 hours before and assuring that our do not disturb was off we found the room to be completely untouched. It took no less than 2 phone calls, a walk down to the lobby to talk to the manager and two people coming to the room bringing the wrong items. We ended up having to make our own bed, definitely not above it, but we're we're so excited to get into bed after a long day. I don't really fault the employees for this one. I think the vast majority of the issues stem from extremely poor management. I hope they get their act together soon for the sake of their employees. We will not ever stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
I came to Charleston for the first time, with a few friends Friday-Monday. Geoffrey, Taylor, Miranda and Chin, at the tiki bar made the vacation a memorable one. We literally only left the resort one night for dinner, and that's because they got us reservations at a place that was booked. They went out of their way to make our group feel like we were just on a beach, hanging out with friends. They are the reason that we will return to Charleston. Y'all have a great team there!

Maya L.

Yelp
Want to give 3.5 stars. Staying in newer club. Quiet. Lovely decor, on a marina, not a beach. Housekeeping, bellhop, and other attendants are friendly, attentive, and professional. Other staff are unprofessional. Older building has an unusual smell. Hotel amenities and equipment is out of date and sometimes damaged. Overall, hotel and spa are too expensive for what they are...should be about 1/2 the price. Wouldn't want to have an event or group trip here.

Laraine O.

Yelp
We received a free upgrade to a harbor view room that we thought was absolutely adorable. The room felt more like a condo than a hotel room. We only stayed for one night, so I can't speak on behalf of room service. Check in was a bit rough... we had to track down someone who worked there to check us in, and there were thirty plus dollars of hidden fees that we didn't learn about until check in for the resort fee and parking. The room was beautiful though so I'll keep it at 4 stars.

Micki H.

Yelp
The service is amazing, everyone who works here is so wonderful and I literally wish I could LIVE here! They have just succeeded with top notch service. And I've only been here for a few hours. Phenomenal.

Yelp
To start, I agree with the previous low marks reviews! I am currently staying at the resort, and to call it a resort is a stretch. No communication or explanation of amenities or services. Gravely over priced for what is offered. The rooms are beautiful but that is where it ends. I travel the world for work. This hotel is very subpar on service.

Janet N.

Yelp
This is a lovely place but if you check in on a weekend, be prepared to wait in the lobby to check in even after their published check in time.

Joyce S.

Yelp
5 stars! Absolutely beautiful resort and amenities! Staff very helpful and professional! Clean, cheerful decor. Recommended!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for out first wedding anniversary. It is located in a great location in Mt. Pleasant and is waterfront. You could see downtown Charleston from our hotel room. It is a short drive to Shem Creek which has great restaurants and night life. Our room was large and very well kept, however, the safe in the room was not working upon arrival. We mentioned it to the front desk and they had it fixed within 30 minutes. Our room was not ready when we arrived and we had to wait at an on site bar for about an hour before it was ready. The food at the Fish Grill located on site is just ok. I would suggest avoiding the breakfast buffet. The bar service at the Fish Grill was great and the bartender was very knowledgeable of the city and surrounding areas. The pool is fantastic and the waiters are extremely nice and friendly. They will definitely show you a good time while at the pool. There are many areas to sit, shaded and non-shaded. The pool can get quite crowded on the weekends, but during the week, was almost dead. This is a very kid friendly atmosphere! I would suggest taking the water taxi from the resort to downtown Charleston. The driver and assistant are great and enjoy conversation with the travelers. There is also a shuttle from the hotel that will drop you right in the middle of downtown. The shuttle driver will give you many suggestions on where to go and what to do. I would suggest going, but you may need to wait a while before your room is actually ready.

Yelp
The images of the resort are stunning! It grabbed our attention immediately. Upon arrival, those views, in real life, were even more pleasing to the eye! Check in was slow as the attendant didn't know if our room was ready. It was 6pm. Checked in and our room had the perfect waterside view. Then I saw a gnat. And another. And more! Housekeeping came. Told us to call Guest Svcs. I did. No answer. After dinner, i was disappointed there was no in-room coffee. I walked to the lounge (because guest svcs nor the kitchen answered) to get hot water. None. I knocked on the Employee Only door where a maintenance guy (?) was chatting on his phone and told me I could find ice on Floor 2 (our room was Floor 1) and I could go to the kitchen for hot water. I walked around the first floor unable to locate assistance and retreated to the elevator where front staff was back and told me ice was on the 1st floor also. He also went to the kitchen and brought me a kettle of hot water. All of this transpired around 10pm. We went to bed, with gnats in our room. On our second day, we were ready for the pool. We asked several staff for towels. None. We walked to the pool and sat waiting for towels to come out. 20min later I went back in and asked for towels from housekeeping and informed the front desk that there were at least 30 towels laying around waiting to be laundered. They said housekeeping was slow. Pools were clean. Hot tub felt good. Everyone kept asking each other where to find towels. While the staff are hospitable, some seemed to have a "it's not my job" mentality.

Yelp
Wow I have traveled to hundreds of hotels and this has been the worst of any. Very average hotel with poor amenities. Not only do they have a surprise hidden fees for resort charges without any real amenities to back it up, I also was double charged by the hotel for my regular stay. They claim to not know anything about it and yet it sits there on my credit card. Will be taking serious action against them for such theft.

Yelp
Beautiful property, and gorgeous views. That's about it. Not an ideal place to stay if you are after a Charleston story. We came out for a conference with my company and not exactly where I would have chosen to stay in Charleston personally or for a conference. Now, food and service are absolutely terrible in this place. For the money you spend here, you would expect a 4-5 start food and service, instead you get 3 stars for the food and maybe 2 stars for the service. Front desk people had to consult each other to call us a cab to the airport and how you do that. I asked for 30 minutes extension for us to check out and couldn't even say yes with a smiling face. Can't even get a cup of coffee that's tasty. Coffee is burner and nasty in lobby, no coffee in the room - you have to order a $14 French press which is actually decent. Don't recommend, far more superior spots in an amazing city like Charleston to stay - don't do it!!

Yelp
It's just not a good hotel. If your expectations are low and you don't usually stay in places better than the Best Western, your expectations will be met here (but not exceeded). Where to begin... the water pressure on the showers is a disaster. I don't know how they even offer something this bad, I'm not sure I've ever seen it this bad before. Water pressure is horrific. No food service, no offerings to compensate for that in any way. Coffee in the morning in lobby is usually empty or close to empty by 8am. Staff in hotel isn't friendly and doesn't even say hello or good morning. Nobody is actually trying to make peoples stay easier or enjoyable. Room cleaning is BAD. The food was left out, tub wasn't cleaned, just everything still filthy. Would never stay here again under any circumstances.

Yelp
This is aesthetically an A+ hotel, from the spacious rooms with high ceilings, foot high crown moldings to the impressive swimming pools that lie right on the picturesque Charleston Harbor front (can't beat the view). A great spot for a couples weekend away or a family trip with young children. We had a blast resulting in the 4 stars. This is also a pricey hotel and touts being regarded as a "leading hotel of the world"- customer service wise they just haven't quite hit the mark yet. It's also a newer hotel so maybe it's just that they haven't found their sea legs, but once they do this hotel has the potential to really stand out. What they got right... 1. Location, location location- you are literally 5 minutes by car from historic downtown Charleston. Every morning waking up to the view of the marina, the harbor and the gorgeous grounds and pools, it's simply beautiful for a lazy day at the pool or spa or a trip to experience the history, museums and restaurants in the city. Also a quick walk to the aircraft carriers at patriots point via the boardwalk at the marina. 2. Interior design- the exterior, interiors are all tremendously well done. Pictures attached. 3. Pools- huge main pool with 1 ft and 3 foot areas perfect for young children wearing their puddle jumpers. Second heated pool and outdoor jacuzzi on the harbor were not crowded at all and so beautiful and relaxing. 4. Spa- small but more than equipped and this is the one place where staff specializing in customer service shine. For facials book Dori, outstanding. My skin literally still glowing from my collagen facial. She was also just charming, what the South is known for. 5. Taffy every night from turndown service. A fun local treat on your bed as a surprise is always fun. There were also little bags of cookies in the room on arrival, only issue here was that the wafers were the only ones that tasted good. Needed areas of improvement 1. No breakfast, no snacks no cookies. Downstairs there is what would seem like a breakfast room for all guests to read a daily newspaper and sample a flavored water or tea or coffee, but that's about it. Come on guys, for the price of this hotel throw guests a bone, or a biscotti or something! Holiday inn express is beating you by a long shot here. 2. No coffee in room. My husband found this annoying after the third day. Keurig in room is standard for a reason. 3. No front desk. There are two sitting desks where you check in but limited staff (2 max) so if you enter with more than 1 other family you will be waiting. 4. No extras at all- at a top tier hotel there should be a "surprise" for every guest (room) at some point during their stay. Be it a complimentary dessert or bottle of wine, this stuff goes a very long way and details are what your customer is paying for. 5. Poolside menu lacking and drinks unavailable- very basic and all accompanied by tasteless kettle chips. Although this is easy, you might want to upgrade to sides of fries or salad. Also might want to refresh the menu. Not asking for anything fancy but the quesadillas were served with ketchup, might want to add salsa or guacamole? Most beers were out of stock along with Frozen Rose and we arrived mid week. 6. In room dining wasn't working- there's an order button on the room remote but it was broken on both TVs so I asked the front desks for a menu. This took quite a few minutes for the staff (albeit very sweet) to find it on the H drive and print. The menu should be laminated and sitting somewhere in every guest room.

Yelp
Beautiful facility. At least at Harborside. There are 2 hotel buildings. Housekeeping keeps it tight. Free shuttle into downtown runs hourly from 2-10pm. Pretty view across the harbor. But that's where the positives end. Do not expect a resort style experience here. I've had better service at Holiday Inn, quite frankly. At least there, if you need a fork, they're happy to run right out and get it. At $700 a night, that was too much trouble here. No bellhop upon arrival. Concierge is completely checked out. They don't greet, they don't even ask how your stay was. And that's after we talked to them twice about our disappointment in the lack of service. We requested a room refresh while we were out, but they never alerted housekeeping. We were told management would be alerted and follow up with us. No contact from anyone. Either no note was made in our reservation, or management just didn't care. They don't really offer anything beyond check/check out. No poolside service for drinks or food. And if you plan to eat anything while you're here, ask for the schedule. There are times when no dining is available. We saw a family in the cabana who had to bring Tostitos themselves so their kids would have a snack. The Fish House Restaurant was very mediocre. No room service available, even though the room phone has a call button. At check out, there actually was a bellhop. But he ignored us lugging our things to the car in the rain, and instead offered his help to a man checking in, who was under the covered awning with all his bags on a luggage rack. He was fine. We were not. Unless you like paying resort prices for a family budget hotel experience, don't stay here. UPDATE: After leaving a negative comment on Instagram, management finally got in touch with me. I got the impression that they were never informed of our concerns while we were at the hotel. But Matt was very apologetic and made amends. I'm very satisfied with the resolution. But I hope the hotel looks carefully at inaccuracies in marketing and staff training. The facility is so beautiful, this could really be an incredible resort if steps are taken.

Yelp
So sad I have to give this rating because so much of the staff is so wonderful and hotel was actually one of our preferred in chs. I was Harassed by Jon, the beverage manager. The staff their witnessed some of it happens and were super supportive and showed a lot on compassion. The district head manager who operates it all wouldn't allow them to do Anything for me. I was intensely crying and so uncomfortable. The most they were willing to do is offer me a cabana for a day. Let me mention that I have stayed here already for almost two weeks in the last few weeks during our stay opening our new local business. We were planning on booked here every 2-4 weeks till we found a new house to buy. Forget that now. I was Consoled my random guests who witnessed the way I was treated. This man is going to ruin this potentially great business, and I'm disgusted that head of operations would rather support their scum of a manager than take care of their guests. Maybe they are short staffed. Who knows. Let me back track and explain what happened... see photos for the rest ... we could find with shade... she was so sleepy. The man Jon saw me struggling to carry her stuff and mine and didn't even ask for help, so I asked the young girl for help instead. She was lovely and super apologetic. I told her I would just make her a bed on a chair with chair pillows. So I walk over to the hotel deck next to pool where no body is.. it's was around 8 am or so... the entire Pool was empty. And no one ever sits on that deck. People prefer the rocking chairs... I go to grab two pillows For her to nap, and Jon charges over to me pointing his finger at me and says mam, I'm gonna have to ask you put those back, those are not to be used ! He yelled this very aggressively. He charged so fast I thought he was gonna trip down the stairs. I felt so humiliated and overwhelmed. I was just trying to get my baby comfortable and he showed no compassion. My mother showed up at this point and asked her to stay with my daughter so I could go inside to inform another manager how horrible I was being treated. As I walk in little Jon starts following me and jabbering in my ear and I told him about 10 times to get away from me(I was historically crying and shaking because I was so upset) he would not listen! I told him I told the front desk people I wanted to speak to another manager because he would stop following me, they even asked him to go away and he still wouldn't! He crossed his arms and said I wanna stay and hear what she has to say! They were very kind and kept asking me if I wanted water and told me they would gladly make her bed with whatever I wanted to make it with or even stay under the cabana, he kept standing there and o felt so harassed and felt like my territory was completely invaded. I called my husband to tel him what happened and after two days spent trying to reach someone higher up, the other onsite management said all they were able to do was give us a cabana for Sunday. They agreed that this wasn't handed properly. The valet people who heard this happen said they were horrified and the guest came up to me saying that they also couldn't believe how he spoke to me. Some sweet man on the sofa approached me and said he didn't work for the hotel but was about to have a meeting with management and just wanted me to know he would do his best to mention what he witnessed and was just so caring and helped me calm down. In situations like this is really heartfelt to see people come together to help you feel special. That's the the guests job tho, that's the establishments duty. If you want an amazing time in Charleston, it's a magical place to visit. Message me for restaurant and hotel recommendations! Do not support this Hotel. Update: I got a call from Nick apologizing for the situation, was invited back to stay. I will edit my Review after my next stay.. Not going back. After saying they would accommodate us for a better experience they offered us about a 5% discount. And they couldn't even tel us if John was still going to be working there. No thanks.

Yelp
I chose the resort to host my team meeting last month and everyone really enjoyed the location and venue. The event team was very helpful in organizing meeting rooms, catering, room block, and even our team building event downtown. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and food was much better than you get at most hotels. My only complaint was the check-in process. We had ~20 rooms reserved and many of us arrived early in the day. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to how they assigned rooms that were ready. I arrived around lunch time and was told there were none ready and that they aren't guaranteed until 4 (as were many on my team, although some got theirs right away). No problem, we stashed our luggage and went to have drinks and food nearby. I didn't get a call that my room was ready until 5:23pm, so apparently the 4pm guarantee means nothing. Some in our group didn't get their rooms until close to 6pm, which was when our dinner reservation was. Yet some on the team arrived after us and were given rooms right away. I would have thought first come, first serve in the room block?! I also double checked that the rooms had a fridge with freezer since I am still nursing and needed to freeze milk for home. Found out when I got to the room there was actually no freezer in the fridge, contrary to what the staff told me. I also asked if they had a place I could pump while waiting for my room to be ready and was directed to the bathroom. I was a bit surprised they seemed unaccustomed to dealing with my situation. Most hotels go above and beyond and even bring in a fridge/freezer to my room when requested. I would definitely come back if staying in the area again, but probably not while nursing.

Yelp
This review is for the Estuary Spa within the resort. Thumbs up for massage therapists Amy and Mike. My husband and I both had excellent massages. The spa is immaculate and peaceful. I wanted to buy the sheets they were so soft!

Yelp
We were very impressed with our suite and view overlooking the pools and Harbor. The facility in general was extremely clean and had a modern flavor to it. We enjoyed the pool area as well - what a great place to relax and melt stress... We were initially not as impressed with product knowledge and communication in reference to trying to order room service - When we called, we ended up getting transferred 3 before we walked down to the front desk to straighten it out... Not opposed to visiting again - just not sure if it'll be our first choice...

Yelp
I booked a room at this hotel three weeks prior to my trip. The check in time was at 4pm. My wife and I did not show up till 4:20pm due to traffic. They advised me that are room is not ready yet and that we need to wait in the lobby. Also in the lobby is three more family's waiting on their rooms. One family has been waiting since 3:30pm. It is currently 5:06pm and everyone in the lobby is still waiting. Well we finally got in are room at 6:55pm.

Yelp
We visited for Valentines Day weekend and had a great stay. It started off rocky because housekeeping left dirty robes hanging in the closet and did not change the comforter. We found hair and stuff in the pockets of the robes clearly showing it wasn't clean. The front desk sent someone to service room and said they would do something for our inconvenience (not sure yet what that is). The Fish House food is mediocre don't go for breakfast. The bars are just ok on the property not much variety and not great drinks unless you like basics like vodka tonic or rum and coke. Staff is the best part! They are great, attentive and friendly! We enjoyed everyone we met. The spa treatments were amazing. The espresso mud wrap and blue eucalyptus were awesome! Ebeny and Sabrina are the best- you must request them!! I was so relax and smelled amazing. They don't rush you at all. Good place to stay! Will definitely return. Heated pools on site. Amazing view of the harbor and boats

Yelp
The Beach Club is by far the best place to stay in the Charleston area. Although it is not located in downtown Charleston, it is about a 3 minute drive from the city across the Arthur Ravenal Jr. bridge in a great town called Mt. Pleasent. This hotel is very new, very easy to navigate around, and really close to everything! We had a first class experience in our room which was very nice and spacious overlooking the beautiful Charleston harbor. TIP: (When booking your room here make sure you ask the hotel for a room overlooking the harbor, or you will be looking at the parking lot.) The staff at the beach club is the most friendly staff I have ever come in contact with at any hotel! They helped us the whole trip and were very nice. This hotel has 2 fantastic pools and a beach right on the Charleston harbor. You can also get a cabana around the pool deck if you want! There is a tiki bar on the resort, as well as a full restaurant called the fish house with great views of the ship the USS Yorktown permenantly docked outside the restaurant! This hotel has valet as well as a water taxi to take you from the hotel to Charleston. In the end, The Beach Club At Charleston Harbor Resort And Marina is a perfect spot for views of the harbor and Charleston as well as lots of fun!

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful!!! My wife and I are visiting from out of state and almost everything about this place was beyond expectation. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff was very helpful and handled an issue very well. The manager Colleen was extremely kind and took great care of us. The only negative was in the pool area. Let me say this, the pool area is absolutely gorgeous BUT multiple times my wife and I nearly stepped on small crabs that got into the pool and the hot tub. Other guests we talked to that were around us also were very nervous. I have no clue how or why this was happening so I hope the resort figures this problem out. Overall though we were very impressed with this place and hope to be back.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay there - spacious rooms, lovely decor, helpful staff. We didn't use the resort facilities but got an excellent off season rate, great value for the money.

Yelp
VERY disappointing! FIRST day at the pool enjoying the moment my husband went back to our room for more tip money, opened the safe and forgot to place his Surface Pro back in the safe. (unsure if left on the bed or the top of the safe). While at the room both the morning breakfast cart was still there along with the room not being made up. Less than an hour we head back to our room to clean up and noticed instantly, the Surface Pro is gone! After searching all area's I called the Front desk for help. THREE staff members later (ALL Manager's/Director's of there department) who shall remain name less. Starts with A, D & C (front desk, hotel & house keeping)..ALL members said there is nothing they can do, the staff members said they did not take it. I asked for partial help in replacing this item and was denied. Was told, "this has never happened before and we do not have a policy for this, you're welcome to file a police report" UGH!! Needless to say I feel violated! Both my husband and I agreed - we can no longer stay in this hotel. We checked out immediately after being denied any assistance, apologies or kindness for that matter. While waiting for transportation to our new Hotel a staff member said "Sounds about right, Sh.. in sheep's clothing" WOW once again VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Yelp
I would give this place five stars if it were more adequately staffed. The bar and pool areas are lacking enough employees to keep up with the customers. However, the rooms, the front desk service, the shuttle, beach, and pool areas, are all amazing and great for the price. I would definitely go back. The location is perfect, right over the bridge from the city. It has a beautiful Bridge bar that overlooks the harbor and has many options for things to do right there at the resort.
