The Beach Shack La Cucina + Bar

I was a bit hesitant to go because there were many mixed reviews, but my husband and I decided to try it anyway. This is not in the main area of Port Douglas but a little bit further out and as we had a car for the day decided it would be worth giving it a go. I am so glad we did. It is set in a lovely atmosphere, eating out in the open although under a covered canopy and there were plenty of customers. We started with the Grilled Prawns which were delicious. I then had the mussels, and my husband had a pizza (which we can’t remember which one but was fairly plain as he wanted to add the Italian sausage and spicy salami). Both meals were wonderful. We also had the Ciabatta which came with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic butter. It was good to be able to have all three. Service was great, the food was great, and the atmosphere was great. We will be going back when we are in Port Douglas again.

We had a great experience overall. The calamari was very tender, and the ciabatta was fresh and delicious. The pizza was large and full of flavour. Service was friendly and quick, and the venue itself looked really nice and inviting. Only downside was the music—it was a bit too loud at times, which made conversation a little difficult. Otherwise, definitely worth a visit!

Ordered the Maialino pizza - the best pizza I have ever had 🙌🏼. Solid pan depth, fluffy dough, crunchy crust, the Italian sausage had so much flavour! The salami had good amount of spice. The garlic focaccia had great flavour of garlic, rosemary and oregano! The lamb pappardelle also had great flavours. The restaurant was away from the town but worth the 7 minute drive out. Fast service and food came quickly.

I went to The Beach Shank looking for a quick lunch, and it completely exceeded my expectations! They have a great deal on panini for $18, where you can choose your own ingredients. the bread quality was excellent and the size was just right I also went for happy hour, where Peroni beers were only $10. I tried the oysters and a piña colada too, and both were delicious. Overall, a really great experience!

We enjoyed a really nice meal with very attentive staff. Atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommend!

Delicious, service was outstanding, so friendly from all staff, food was excellent will definitely be recommending and def be back before holiday ends, thankyou for our delicious dinner and your amazing friendly staff.

Visiting from the USA. Stopped in on the way back from Port Douglas. I was truly blown away! The Italian food was authentic! The calamari melted in my mouth, not heavily breaded. Cooked to perfection. The gnocchi!! Was not frozen, freshly made and the sauce tasted like Grandma makes! If you are in the Port Douglas area, do yourself a favor and stop in!! This is now my favorite restaurant ❤️

Beautiful place but very average tasting meals, especially for the price. The lasagna was cold in the middle and piping hot on the edges, indicating it was frozen and then microwaved. Prawn pasta lacked flavour, so salt and pepper were needed and although al dente was attempted for the actual pasta, it was a little undercooked still. Some staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but others were not. For example we asked for the bill and were just given it and then left to our own devices for quite some time before we needed to ask another waiter if they bring the eftpos machine or if we have to go up. Very expensive for average meals
