Wow, absolutely delightful. The food and staff were amazing, with everything we tried being outstanding. The Risotto Scoglio (Marinara) was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The kids absolutely loved the pizzas too. Coming from a fussy Italian, I honestly couldn’t fault this place. 10/10 – highly recommend

Been here many times. Food has always been good, it’s not cheap for such a casual place and service is always casual at best. Tonight the place was a quarter full at best and (closing down at 8pm) they still had to consider whether giving us a 3 person table rather than the small 2 person. Other children running circles around our table all night and another couples dog under our table multiple times didn’t make for a relaxing atmosphere. However to top it off they wanted $25 for a standard martini not even half full (see photo) despite ordering cocktails in the past without issue.

This was my first time eating at the Beach shack Italian in port Douglas We visit port Douglas so much and I’m glad I’ve tried them out as this will be my new dining place when I’m up here from Sydney The food was exceptional quality and fresh I had the mushroom risotto and my partner had seafood linguini with a pizza We also tried their dessert selection and I have no words other than WOW and give me more please lol 😊

I went to The Beach Shank looking for a quick lunch, and it completely exceeded my expectations! They have a great deal on panini for $18, where you can choose your own ingredients. the bread quality was excellent and the size was just right I also went for happy hour, where Peroni beers were only $10. I tried the oysters and a piña colada too, and both were delicious. Overall, a really great experience!

I was a bit hesitant to go because there were many mixed reviews, but my husband and I decided to try it anyway. This is not in the main area of Port Douglas but a little bit further out and as we had a car for the day decided it would be worth giving it a go. I am so glad we did. It is set in a lovely atmosphere, eating out in the open although under a covered canopy and there were plenty of customers. We started with the Grilled Prawns which were delicious. I then had the mussels, and my husband had a pizza (which we can’t remember which one but was fairly plain as he wanted to add the Italian sausage and spicy salami). Both meals were wonderful. We also had the Ciabatta which came with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic butter. It was good to be able to have all three. Service was great, the food was great, and the atmosphere was great. We will be going back when we are in Port Douglas again.

I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately it fell short. I’m gluten free and even though they have lots of options what I experienced was subpar. I think their strength lies in their pizzas which I didn’t try. The first time I went I ordered risotto which was more like raw rice soup. The second time I ordered the steak medium and it came out almost raw. The service was pretty average, borderline line rude when i sent the steak back. My partner ordered the pizza and said it was amazing. The atmosphere was great and good to have an option close to our accomodation other than the tavern but would go to the tavern instead of this place. Disappointing experience, so much potential though. I really hope they take more care in the options other than pizza, this place could be really great!

Google
Ordered the Maialino pizza - the best pizza I have ever had 🙌🏼. Solid pan depth, fluffy dough, crunchy crust, the Italian sausage had so much flavour! The salami had good amount of spice. The garlic focaccia had great flavour of garlic, rosemary and oregano! The lamb pappardelle also had great flavours. The restaurant was away from the town but worth the 7 minute drive out. Fast service and food came quickly.

We have been here many time. Every time it has been busy but the service has been great & the meals are fantastic. The staff are very pleasant & willing to help if you need it. This is just one place we tend to go to as we know we will always have a great meal, not wait too long & staff are always friendly. Highly recommended if you are in this area looking for a meal whether breakfast or lunch or dinner. Many thanks to you all at the Beach Shack we will be back again on our next visit.

Yelp
The food here is nothing to write home about. Instead, come here for the atmosphere -- the place has a funky, casual vibe that we all really enjoyed. And, of course, the main attraction is the sand floors -- these guys trucked in a bunch of soft white sand to put underfoot so you feel like you're dining on the beach even though you're actually a few blocks away from it. The Beach Shack is located on Barrier Rd, quite a ways away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. That's actually what drew me to it -- after eating out every night for a week in the tourist trap town centre of Port Douglas, I was ready to get out. A 10-minute drive took us to The Beach Shack, which is nestled in a residential area. This means it attracts more of a local crowd than the in-town restaurants, which I liked. I noticed several diners bump into each other who obviously knew each other from around town. There are three sections at The Beach Shack: the bar (where the bartenders are barefoot in the sand); the pizza and bar food indoor/outdoor area (with smaller tables and a few couches to lounge on, obviously a place designed more for drinking than eating); and then the proper restaurant section, with bigger tables and chairs. I'd probably recommend a reservation if you want to have dinner at the proper restaurant section -- when we went, around 7pm, it was totally full and we were relegated to the pizza and bar food area with its much smaller, flimsier tables. I went with my parents, and they both got different kinds of pizzas. I got the pumpkin and spinach salad with no feta. My salad was fresh and filling but nothing special in terms of flavours. My parents said their pizzas were OK, not bad, but also nothing special. Service was friendly (especially the bartenders) but the pizza orders took forever. I watched one girl getting a takeaway pizza wait over 30 minutes for a single pizza! Probably not a place you want to go to on a busy weekend night if you want food in a hurry. So yeah, go for the drinks and ambience more so than the food. If you like relaxed beachy type places, you'll like it here.

Yelp
Really quant place with sand floor on the bar side. Food was solid quality. Good variety of pizza toppings. It was really good. Nice drink menu and Lychee mohito was awesome. This is nice change of pace to downtown Port Douglas

Yelp
A close walk from our Airbnb. We ordered salad (delicious!) and pepperoni pizza (hard for a diehard pepperoni fan from the U.S. to find in Australia). The pizza was dismal but the convenient location and fun atmosphere made up for it.

Yelp
We came here three times on two of which the restaurant was closed. Locals recommended the food. Once we finally got in on our third attempt the food was great, the service was cordial and acted with real concern for their customers. At that price level the food and experience are just GREAT

Yelp
Food was good. Nothing over the top Pizza had good flavor ( the devil with chorizo jalapeño and chile). Crust was thin Portion size was very good. Ok only.

Yelp
Great setup!!! Little bit out of town but worth the walk/drive. Pizza was delicious. Would come back again if I return to Port Douglas

Yelp
Guys thanks for delicious pizza delivered tonight. Wish our local place was of your quality.

Yelp
Had a nice dinner here with the family. There were some decent vegetarian options. All dishes were good- we had the stack, salad, arancini, and gnocchi. I like the sand on the floor- fun ambiance.

Yelp
There's a good reason this place gets such lousy reviews, and I wish I had more conviction in heeding them. My girlfriend and I had pizza delivered (with salad) and honestly, it was terrible, amongst the worst I have ever had anywhere in the world. Save your money, go to Chilly's, much, much better.

Yelp
very friendly service, very casual atmosphere. Scallops for entrée barely enough to whet the appetite. but tasty. pizza was ok, coral trout nice, but prices exorbitant for what you get.

Yelp
Worst restaurant I've had the misfortune of eating at. Horrible customer service with rude, patronising staff. Pizza tastes on par with dominos quality pizza but twice the price. And so slow!! We waited one hour twenty minutes for our food and every time we enquired, were treated with contempt. Will never dine here again and hope you learn from our mistake!

Yelp
truly excellent pizza. thin crust, tasty and well put together. could do with an extra vegetarian option on the menu but ate the special which happened to be veg. great fun vibe, though we actually got cold under the vigorous ceiling fans!

Yelp
We ordered three pizzas, it was going to be 30 minutes. So we went for a walk along the beach. When we got back we collected our food and went back to the hotel to eat. When we got back and opened the box we found one pizza was wrong. My partner took it back and was told it was going to be another 40 minutes before we can get the one we ordered. I have worked in a pizza restaurant for 13 years and it doesn't take that long for the pizzas to come out even when you have too. Amazingly enough the server walked over to the pizza maker and it was made instantly and in the oven within minutes. The pizzas were good, the attempt to rectify the issue was terrible.

Yelp
This place was within walking distance of our hotel so we decided to give it a shot. The bar area had a fun atmosphere (sand on the patio!) but I was unimpressed with the food, especially for the price. My husband and I each got our own pizza and while he liked his (he'll eat anything) I felt like mine could have been a lot better. With all the cute restaurants in the main part of Port Douglas, I would rather spend my time/money there instead.

Yelp
3 of us had individual pizzas. All were great. Had the meat lovers and it was done with a smokey BBQ sauce, and cooked perfectly. Thin crust dough, which I liked. Size was plenty for 1 person. Like the open atmosphere , ambiance, and sandy floor. Staff was friendly. Beer was cold. Great meal.
