I stopped in the Holly Hut (See images).
Firstly, the room (hut) was very reasonably priced.
As a business traveller I needed to arrive potentially quite late in the evening. I booked the room through a online provider and then contacted the hotel directly regarding this late arrival. They instructions provided were incredibly helpful and clear, with the key in a coded box at the hut.
The hut looked lovely as I arrived on a December evening, all illuminated and ready for me and on entering the heating had been running (with its own thermostat so you can set your preference) and was dry, warm and cosy. There was a personalised note welcoming me and some complimentary items, including some delicious cordial.
The hut was very clean and had everything I needed (I say hut, it has a fantastic shower and toilet in the bathroom and a incredibly comfy bed with some great seating spread around the place, hut doesn't really do it justice). It was refreshing to see that there was not a TV, which people tend to just turn on for background noise - you are left to enjoy the sounds and views of nature along with time to think and enjoy the traquility (-there is free WIFI if you really need it, but hey, take a book!).
The grounds of the hotel, and where the hut was situated look like they were scrupulously maintained, and a pleasure to walk through and look at, the gardener here sure works hard.
I had a great nights sleep on the very comfortable raised bed and in the morning a lovely hot shower. I then had a Nespresso from the machine in the hut (which had plenty of pods provided) and opened the top half of the door to let in the morning air and enjoy the views (including sunrise) over the gardens and the lake.
The hut had a mini-bar, a hob, a great sink and a radio, everything you could want.
On leaving in the morning I walked up and handed my keys over to a polite gentleman and left feeling refreshed and relaxed (I didn't book breakfast, so cant comment on that). I went out of the way to call my wife and tell her that I would like to return one day with her as I know she would have loved it.
My advice is don't go with a chain hotel, if you are in the area, try this place - it felt like a mini holiday. For any EV drivers out there, there is a garden centre within a mile or two that has a large number of fast chargers and seemingly low demand as they were all free, so no problems there, i just called off in the morning and topped up before my next meeting.
Brilliant and a first class place if only i had tried the food - next time !!!.
