Gint's Bachelor Party
The Bearded Ax Social Tavern

We had the best time for our private Christmas party. The owners/staff are excellent and very accommodating. Everyone had a great time, from all the different games to choose from to the remarkable selection of drinks. The selection also includes a non-alcoholic section, which can be rare to find in the area. You can't beat a great time and yummy drinks. This is the second time that we have held a private party here and we plan on doing it again. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

In Summary: Just go here. It's awesome. It's a chill place for "big kids" and there's something for everyone. I was recommended this place from co-workers of mine out in Summerville recently as they've been encouraging me to get out more after a break up 2 years ago (it was my fault). Being a musician, they recommended this place and neighborhood figuring it would have something in my lanes and the like (hell of an insight from the co-workers, right?). Since then it's been absolutely incredible for me. Not only is there the great "big kid" entertainment options to enjoy (ESPECIALLY those Stern pinball machines!), but I personally have been able to make connections with new friends and even other musicians in the area who hang out there. The vibe of the joint feels reminiscent of some of the places I performed in/hung out/got thrown out of back in Philadelphia (Dawson's, Grape Room, Kyhber, North Star, etc), even down to the cheap PBRs and Yuengling "lagah's". Even got a great ginger beer that reminds me of the kava bar in Gulfport FL when I was there for some time. As you can read, this place feels like home. Ian and Jon have put together something really special here and it's rare that you find something like this these days post COVID. Would have been a great date night for my ex and I (I'm the dummy), but we gotta end this on a positive note in that hopefully one day I can get the opportunity to perform on their stage and add my little bit to the mix.

Really fun place. Bar, pinball, pool, foosball, golf, and axe throwing. Would definitely come again if I'm in the area.

Best place for a cold beer I’ve been so far. Great place, staff and beer. I don’t even drink and had to have this sour which was great.

I hosted an engagement party for my daughter and future son-in-law at The Bearded Ax and it couldn’t have been better. John and Ian are fabulous to work with- their staff, the day of the event were so attentive and kind to guests. The space was super clean and Ian spent time with each guest teaching them how to properly throw an axe, which was a huge hit! John had created a special engagement drink for the happy couple, complete with edible glitter which was super tasty! Between the axe throwing, the skee-ball, the pool table and the general superb vibe, the party was a hit! If there were 6 stars to give, I would.

Yelp
This place is one of the most fun and interactive places I've ever been. It has become one of my favorite go to spots in Park Circle, North Charleston. You have amazing local beer, cider, seltzer, wine and mead options to choose from. The bar staff is also very helpful with helping you choose from their wonderful selection to find what's best for you. In terms of activities, you have everything from axe throwing, foosball, pinball, pool tables, and more. I also love that they host fun and creative events like Drink & Draw, D&D and tournaments for a pinball and pool. I love this place so much. It's become my second home.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to The Bearded Ax. I came here with a friend to go Ax Throwing and I really liked their interactive games that you can play on their boards. I had one of their light beers which was delicious! I also played their Jurassic Park pinball which is a lot of fun!

Yelp
I love Bearded Axe! It's a great place to hang out, throw axes, play dungeons and Dragons or sing karaoke! I've been frequenting this place more often and it's always a great experience! The bartenders are awesome and the host of karaoke is hilarious! Remember to donate to his Taco Bell fund! If you're in the Park circle are and you're looking for a fun experience stop by!!!

Yelp
Ian and John always make sure you're having a great time and get genuinely excited to share new games and activities. The beer selection is top-notch and their events are always unique and fun. The whole place has a welcoming vibe and it's one of those spots where you can just be yourself and enjoy the night.

Yelp
My buddy and I stopped in for a beer and next thing you know, we're throwing axes. I've thrown axes a few times before but never like this. They have digital projections on the target so you can play different games like tic-tac-toe, kill some zombies, or throw at a traditional bullseye. You have a computer mouse to select everything and keep score. It added a whole new competition to the game and made me want to play longer. The other difference from other boards I've played on is that it's not vertical pieces of plywood for the target. They use a grid of 4x4 stacked in a square shape making the board more pliable/spongy like a dart board and creates significantly less waste as the target need to be replaced in months instead of days. Is eco-friendly axe throwing a thing? Well it is now! Last but not least, they have an amazing beer selection with like a hundred beers to choose from or something (not exaggerating). There's a handful of taps and then a giant cooler with tons of choices. You could easily come here to hang out and try unique brews like a bottle shop. Whether axe throwing is your thing or not, you definitely want to stop in for a couple beers. Next thing you know, you'll probably be throwing axes though too.

Yelp
We attended a private party here. The staff are FABULOUS! Super friendly and helpful. We didn't actually do ax throwing, but the kids had a fantastic time throwing (supervised, of course) and they got personal lessons, which was awesome. But the real hidden gem? Ask Jon to make you a Beard Bomb if you like coffee. Even from someone who doesn't love beer, this was delicious.

Yelp
This place is awesome!!! Three reasons to go here: 1) you get to throw axes 2) killer beer selections 3) it's fun AF There were three of us and we booked the 2 hour session. Jessica attended to our every need. To start she made sure she covered the most important part.... beverage selections. After getting our first round we signed the waivers and then got the house rules. After about 5 minutes of instruction on body movement, release techniques and demo we were off to the races. After a few attempts all of us we hitting the target on a consistent basis. About 49 minutes in you really start to get the hang of it. Jessica was by our side to help with pointers and advice as well as distribute beverages when asked to assist. The have an assortment of axes which was pretty cool so you could try out throwing the smaller ones single handed which I found to be easier. I would do this again and highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time and do any activity that may be a little less traditional. That day when you're sitting around asking yourself what should we do today, well...... here's your answer. Go here, have a beer, throw some axes, chill out and have a good time for once.

Yelp
This establishment is a class act ! The coaches are amazing and friendly, the bar has a great selection of beers and meads. It gets super busy on the weekends I would totally suggest making a reservation or calls by before you stop in.

Yelp
This is a great place for birthday parties, bachelorette/bachelor parties or date night! If you've never been before, the employees explain everything perfectly. They have interactive games like axe tik tak toe and targets. The place is very nice and clean, the bathrooms are clean and they also serve alcohol here. They have draft beer, special beers, seltzer's, and water. Super fun and inexpensive!

Yelp
A few of us from the office had the chance to walk over to the Bearded Axe after work last night to give the ol' axe-throwing a whirl...wasn't sure what to expect--well, okay, I honestly was expecting to see a bunch of bearded, Duck Dynasty-loving rednecks, or maybe para-military types, but we got there early enough so it wasn't quite that busy. We actually were set up next to a young couple--he was dark and intense and VERY focused on hitting the target and she was lovely and blonde with a mile-wide smile, intent on having fun. So far so good--not so intimidating. Right out the gate, the staff is great--welcoming and wonderful with drink recommendations (thanks for encouraging me to try the Original Mead--delicious and light!). Once we were situated with drinks, John Peters took us to our "lanes" and proceeded to give a very thorough and easily understood walk-through of the art of axe-throwing. While one would think sheer brute strength would be enough, it seems there is actually an art to it (and luckily my lack of upper body strength was not a hindrance). John's job as coach was to give us one-on-one instruction (and lots of encouragement!) until we at least got one, good "stick". Once we demonstrated our ability to not hurt ourselves (or each other) and were versed in the proper etiquette, he let us loose--and boy, was it fun! Special thanks to Assistant Manager, John Hammond, for setting our group up--and to John Peters, the best throwing coach we could have asked for!

Yelp
Coolest new spot for a unique and killer afternoon. Had such a great time setting up a surprise party for my husband and his friends. Ian got us all set up and we had a last learning the techniques of axe throwing and giving it a shot. The whole shop is fully accessible, which isn't true of most bars in Charleston, so as a wheelchair user I was really pumped that I could join in and have a shot at axe throwing. Greatest axe throwing experience we've had and can't recommend this place enough. Thanks Ian!

Yelp
My husband and two friends visited for an "adults day" last Saturday. This was the most fun we've had in a long time! It's well organized, clean, and the staff is beyond friendly and helpful! They took so much time helping us select beers we would enjoy (there are TONS of options) and it's great that they offer choices other than beer. The wine slushees looked delicious! The ax throwing was addictive ~ we added an additional hour because we didn't want to stop! Our friends had done it before but we hadn't and they were so patient in making sure we had a good understanding of how to handle the axes and the safety precautions. We can't wait to make this a regular stop on the circuit of where we take friends when they're in from out of town!

Ashlyn W.

Yelp
We aren't from the area and have always wanted to try axe throwing so we checked this place out and WE HAD A BLAST! And it waaayy exceeded our expectations! The nicest staff who made our experience unforgettable and who taught us all how to properly throw and be safe and knowledgeable. Also had the coolest bar and setup too. Definitely go here!!! You won't regret it.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
I have to say that I really enjoyed stopping and trying something new. I mean I use a axe in my back yard chopping firewood most weekends in the fall already. But to go somewhere have a good beer and just chill while throwing sharp things at a board at this place is worth every penny.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Awesome place to chill and awesome staff to help you get your axe throwing skill down!
