We stayed at The Bellgrove over New Year’s Eve and, unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations—especially given the price point. We are Marriott Bonvoy Gold members and this was, by far, our least favorite Marriott property we’ve stayed at.
The hotel itself is clean and visually nice, but that’s where the positives mostly end. The location is not ideal — it’s not on the water and not within walking distance to downtown, which was disappointing for a resort at this price level.
Our room was fine overall, but the bathroom layout was poorly designed. There is no towel rack or hook near the shower, so you either have to place your towel on the floor or walk across the bathroom dripping wet to reach it. There’s also only one sink and essentially no counter space for toiletries or styling tools, which made getting ready frustrating.
We were required to use valet parking at $50 per night, with no self-parking option and no EV charging available. To make matters worse, we waited over 20 minutes for our car and ended up late to a reservation — something that could have easily been avoided if self-parking were available.
We also had drinks and an appetizer by the pool before a spa appointment. The chips and guacamole were $22 and extremely disappointing. The guacamole tasted pre-packaged and was already browning when it arrived — definitely not what you’d expect at a “luxury” resort.
The spa experience itself was fine, but not memorable. The massage was average and, considering the price, underwhelming. On top of that, there’s an added service charge and gratuity, making it even more expensive. The spa is quite small, and the “eucalyptus steam room” smelled more like chlorine than eucalyptus.
Overall, while the property looks nice, it does not deliver the experience or value that its pricing suggests. For the cost, there are far better resorts in the area that offer more amenities, better service, and a more thoughtful guest experience
