Located in a quiet residential area, this B&B is deceptively close to the action. You are just a few minutes walk to restaurants, bars, the canal, and just a few minutes further to the main square in Bruges. Both a grocery store and a laundromat are really close. Just as all of the old core, it's all cobblestone streets, adding to the ambience.||||Upon entering the building through an unassuming door, the main floor has high ceilings and is quite spacious. The rooms are located on the two floors above and yes, they require stairs to reach. The rooms were clean, comfortable and sufficiently sized for our needs. I think they have a variety of sizes as there was also a family staying in another room. The room had a few books leftover from earlier guests, providing an opportunity to trade out my reading material. Being an older building, the stairs can be creaky and you can hear when others come and go, although the guests seemed to limit their adventures to the daylight hours. Upon arriving, the temperatures were low for summer making it pleasant, but towards the end, we caught the beginning of a heatwave which made the lack of AC noticeable. We were told they will be renovating this coming winter and adding AC to the building which will make be great.||||Our hostess, Amaryllis, does a good job with breakfast, seating everyone around a large table with pastries, fruit, meat, cheeses, chocolates and made-to-order eggs. If you happen to be in Bruges while the market is setup in the main square, you can see, smell and taste the quality products from the local area. Amaryllis was very friendly and helpful, particularly as she had to help customers with last minute changes caused by the transportation strikes occurring that week. Overall, it was a good visit and sad to depart!
