Unfortunately, when I visited, the Big Buddha in Phuket was under maintenance due to a landslide, so I couldn’t go up close — a bit of a regret on the trip, but also a perfect excuse to come back again.
Driving up the mountain involves winding roads, which really put your car’s performance to the test.
Along the way, you’ll pass by a tiger park and several elephant sanctuaries.
The parking area at the top isn’t very big, but there are souvenir shops and places to buy drinks nearby. Looking down from the mountaintop, the view over Phuket feels truly surreal.
