Super cool place !!! 👽💜🌈💘 I was here for a queer event (as you can see on the drink menu). I had a good time !! The place is HUGE !!! Especially the patio area. They had a food truck out back too (I’m not sure if it’s there all the time though). It was mostly mushroom based meals. But I don’t like mushrooms so I had a grilled cheese. Sounds basic but it was good! 😋 My only critiques is that they could use more restrooms, and bartenders for bigger events. Otherwise I like what they have going here and the staff was friendly! If you like beer stop in! 🍺🍻

This brewery is a hidden gem in North Kansas City! The Big Rip Brewing Company has a fantastic selection of craft beers, and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We love the atmosphere and the fact that we can bring our own food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Google
Big Rip is a welcoming and incredibly fun brewery run by lovely people! We had the opportunity to host a special event there and we were taken care of so well throughout the entire evening. The bar staff is patient, attentive, and friendly, and the drink selection was fantastic (try the cherry hard cider!). I cannot recommend Big Rip highly enough for a night out or a private party. Thank you so much, Kathy and staff!

My husband and I went to the Halloween pop up they had. Camp Drinkaway. It's interactive, kind of like an escape room. It was a play on Friday the 13th. It was a lot of fun. We both survived the night lol. We would do it again. Beers were tasty and the staff was really friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Truly enjoyed our evening at The Big Rip. The brews were delicious and having live music just adds a special touch. Thank you Jessica Bloom and Eddie Dorsey for a grand time !!

Google
Great atmosphere and delicious beer. There is so much personality here! Be sure to head to the "cabin in the woods," aka the back room, and check out the decor and paint on the walls which is full of Easter eggs.

Google
Very cute brewery. Beer and mead were delicious. Staff was very friendly.

Came in and had a flight. Sweet brown is something that I would buy again. Others not so much. Unless you're a regular the tenders did not make a point to pick up a conversation. BBQ next door but they were closed on a Saturday afternoon. With so many others to choose from I'd go somewhere else.

Yelp
I check this place out with some friends over the weekend, They had a food truck outside for those that wanted to eat. The head brewer was there and it was very cool to talk with her about the process of brewing and what all goes into it. They had a good mix of beer with a little bit of something for everyone. The main bar is horror movie themed with a large room in the back to host events. The back room has a Cabin in the Woods feeling including the front porch area. Such a fun little bar.

Yelp
Being a sucker for local breweries, I had to take the opportunity to visit Big Rip Brewing while I was across the river. North KC has several craft brewers, so take the time to visit any or all of them. Big Rip is easy to find, just across the Broadway Bridge and your first right. It's also easy to be drawn to, with the smoke smell of Hawg Jaw just next door. Nice west-facing patio, plenty of parking, and a smaller indoor area makes for a great tasting opportunity. It's all beer, so you are welcome to BYO food. I got a flight of five, anchored by their flagship brown ale 'Hathor's Sweet Brown', and for a guy who loves the malty goodness of browns, this was a total winner. Normally I wouldn't be all over the map with samples, but as a Big Rip rookie, I dabbled with a hazy ale (Arachnid) all the way to a juicy, fruited ale (Big, Red, & Shifty). All of Big Rip's offerings were good, if not great in the case of the Drake: Rakau and the Hathor's. At any rate, Big Rip is clearly brewing craft beer, and they are doing it really darn well. Nice place, they don't try to confuse you by being a beer kitchen AND brewery, and that focus allows them to offer up one of North Kansas City's better bier halls.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was dead. Big Rip is a horro themed brewery and is a ton of fun! We ordered a flight and loved all the beers, so we got a second flight to try some more! I'm not an IPA girl, and loved all the beers we tried that were not IPAs. My husband enjoyed the two IPAs he tried. Their vanilla cream ale is the best, and I really enjoyed the porter and the stout we tried.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! First off, the beer is VERY good. I ordered a flight of a good mix and really liked all 5 of them. It was difficult to choose which one I wanted to order a pint of after. Also, the people are super friendly. I'm traveling for work and asked for some dinner recommendations. Several employees chimed in with their favorites. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in town!

Yelp
The Apparition Pop Up Bar - What an amazing idea for this time of year! This rather good sized brewery had a large private back room decorated with a bunch of Nightmare Before Christmas type decor. While there wasn't any food on the menu, there were 13 unique drinks to try. Note that while a bit steep at $13 per drink (or $40 for a cauldron), they had a bit of entertainment with songs from the movie, an actor in an Oogie Boogie suit, and some live singing. Overall, it was a great place to grab a pre or post dinner drink and enjoy some amazing entertainment. If the Nightmare Before Christmas is your jam and you're open to trying a new drink or three...give this place a shot.

Yelp
Place is great to hang out. Bathrooms are a 8/10. Beer is not my favorite, but that's okay, my husband loves their Zelda. We go here like every Friday and will continue to do so! Service is epic.

Yelp
Such a fun place. They have a good variety of board games, free pop corn, a gluten free beer, and a nonalcoholic root beer. Literally something for everyone. Staff are friendly, they have food trucks here on the weekends. Loved their root beer, plenty of sasparella, just a kick of sugar--entirely refreshing.
google avatar

Yelp
The customer service at Big Rip is amazing! They will take the time to explain the various beers, give samples, and take time to find out what you like to provide suggestions. The space is smaller than some but gives it a bit more intimate feel and still has a lot of options to have quiet conversations. Big Rip has a nice crowd of regulars but is still welcoming. If is a great spot to try or make yourself a regular!

Yelp
The only thing I'm sad about is not coming to this brewery sooner!!! I had heard about it here and there but finally had a chance to check it out during their horror movie trivia. The brewery is small and kind of hidden but feels just so nice and genuine? The people there are super nice and helpful. The beers are SO good. I feel like in KC everything is some sort of IPA or sour but this brewery actually had a brown ale! My fav! It's pretty cool that they partner with the BBQ place next door and you can just place your order via a little kiosk. Oh yeah. The bar is HORROR THEMED. So cool. I felt truly at home. The next time I need a good beer, Big Rip is where I'll be going.

Yelp
What a funky little gem! Would have never found this on my own but so glad someone led me to it. Tiny, middle of nowhere industrial area, patio that opens to a parking lot ... It's not obvious. But it is friendly and high on service, and stocked with great drinks too. More beers on tap than you might expect, clean restrooms, filtered water, and so many other little touches that are almost invisible but come together to make a good experience great. I like this place.

Yelp
This review will be a little lighter on beer details since I had a business associate with me. People actually expect you to talk to them and not be on your phone all evening. You kids hear that?!? Big Rip is easy to find since as soon as you turn the corner you see the name painted on the building in big letters. I like it when I don't have to search for the brewery! BR is in a big building with kind of an odd tasting room setup due to the layout of the building. There is some seating in the tasting room itself, with another room with tables in the back. They have a patio area but being that it was freaking cold, I passed on that. I did a flight of five, but added two because I don't count very well. Here is the low down: Umbrella Kolsch is a very well done Kolsch. Light bready flavor, no off tastes. This was nicely done! Zeldas Vanilla Cream had a really nice vanilla flavor. I didn't get much on the aroma but it could have been the BBQ I ordered overpowering it. Hathor's Sweet Brown is a little sweet, as you would guess from the name. SWPFTD would love this one. Bacta Imperial Chai Brown Ale, now that's a mouthful! This just didn't work for me. It was a riot of flavors but none of them seemed to play well together. Foggy Haddonfield IPA. Nice solid IPA here. Good hop flavor and aroma. This was a really good IPA. Curse This Well dry stout was decent. It didn't stand out but it was a decent beer. If you like a dry stout this was good but not unforgettable. Velvet Elvis was a mix of the Hathor's and the Zeldas. This was not bad. I'm often not a big fan of mixes but this one was tasty. The flavors complimented each other. BR is right next to Hawk Jaw Que n Brew, and since BR has no food there it works out well. They have a kiosk in the tasting room where you can order from Hawg Jaw and pay be credit card. Very quickly after that someone runs into the tasting room carrying your food and calling your name. I like it! I'll see if I get to doing a review of Hawg Jaw but for the loyal reader of this review...order from Hawg Jaws. I had the Irish Hawg, Smoked corned beef, smoked sausage, swiss cheese, spicy sauerkraut and thousand island on toast marble rye. Uh, yeah! Big Rip Brewing was good. I didn't spend as much time there as I would have liked but I had company. It's kind of pathetic that unless I'm with SWPFTD I prefer going to breweries alone isn't it? Or at least when I'm going to review them I prefer it so I can focus on the beers. Big Rip is definitely worth going in and having a few of their beers. Of the ones I tried only one didn't work for me. And with their close relationship with Hawg Jaw there is no downside! If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand.

Yelp
Didn't know this place existed, I was at Cinderblock brewery, on the map this place was listed down the street, had to check them out,I found the place, walked in and band was playing, it was different but good, check pix with their business card. Bartender was super cool and friendly too, this place was the first brewery in this location, this lady picked up case of 24 pack of the Zelda vanilla creme beer, I had this and it was really good, very popular, Thur they have bands coming in and play, plenty of parking, I really enjoyed stopping in and u need to check this place out

Yelp
Wow this little " round the corner " brewery blew me away! First hats off to Bri, a female co-owner AND Brewmaster! We got a flight to try5 different brews. We were disappointed their fan favorite, Zeldas was out of stock. Guess we will have to come back in 3 weeks to taste the vanilla flavored concoction! Although they don't serve food, Hawg Jaw BBQ is just a kiosk order away! We had some awesome burnt end batches which were a perfect compliment to our tasty beers. My very favorite was the Raspberry Saltine- a wonderful summer beer- cool & refreshing

Yelp
This was the brewery that got me into KC's brewery scene years ago. They have an intimate space and are always a popular spot for Snake Saturday and the 4th. They have a great variety of beers and nail all styles. Ever since partnering with Hawg Jaw BBQ next door to have a food option, this is a great, cozy, and chill hangout place. They also have a large back room that is awesome for private events. If you are in Northtown, be sure to check it out. Personally I'm a big fan of the Umbrella Kolsch, Hefe the Killer, and Hathor's Sweet Brown Ale. And I love the movie style posters that they create for each one.

Yelp
We stopped by Big Rip on July 4th and it was so much fun. They have a great space for entertaining and did it right this year. They throw an annual Independence Day party (this being the fifth year) with live music, great BBQ, and a screening of The Sandlot. The movie was paused when the fireworks show started. You get a great view of the Riverfront fireworks without the crowd and mayhem of actually being there. There is a small entrance fee of $2, but it's well worth it. The beer was delicious; we tried a variety and they all had very different, distinct personalities. The BBQ was good; we went back for seconds but didn't make the cut because the kitchen closed at 8 PM (amateurs), and the live music was on point. When the sun started dropping, the band broke down and up went the inflatable movie screen. So efficient. Bring your own lawn chair and it makes for a perfect (local) 4th. We had a great time and we will definitely come back now that we know it's there.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stop here for a couple of beers and some BBQ even with the covid-19 craziness! I LOVED their vanilla ale. I think between my husband and i we enjoyed all the various beers we tried as we did a taster flight. They also have their root beer that was on tap which was on point and equally delicious. For the food from next door, it's super neat that they have a kiosk to order from...that food was bomb too. So great set up they have being next to each other!

Yelp
Being first doesn't always mean the best but Big is nailing it. 3 years they've been around and rumor has it they were the first micro brewery in KC. I'm hoping it's true because they certainly deserve the title. Our crew rolled in thirsty, but the taps flowed til the parch was quenched. The creativity here is inspiring. I get the feeling they would be willing to try anything if they thought it might be worth a shot. Lots of bullseyes as far as I'm concerned. Lots of space, if I'm rolling solo, I like the bar. All that work here are just great human beings. Sci-fy and horror flick theme is fun. It's pretty amazing when people can take the things they love in life and make it an occupation. Lucky bastards!

Yelp
Decided to try Fourth of July here. Got there maybe around 6, very empty. We put our camping chairs down to save a spot and headed inside for some food and drinks. There was only one tablet for ordering food, turned into quite the line, but it was a holiday. Not really sure how the bbq place and the brewery are related, but if seems convenient for the drunken munchies. I got the loaded fries and some meat combo. Plenty for two, had leftovers for next day. The drinks were good. They had non-beer options, which is yay. However, their stock was limited. They had an alcoholic arnold palmer, but I got the last one... sad because it was good and I wanted another! I tried their kombucha drink which... different to try, but not for me. The weather was not great that day but they carried on the festivities. The place got packed. People were kinda just crowded each other without too much consideration to their surroundings and others. Like the group right in front of us that just kept adding and expanding their circle until it felt like they were sitting in my lap. That aspect is a bit annoying. They played Sandlot on a big projector later in the night, but only like 30min in the movie at most before they stopped due to rain. The weather was cloudy and the fireworks were getting delayed. Lost our patience and eventually headed home before it started. I enjoyed the experience nevertheless and their brews, but not sure if I would go back for 4th again.
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
Another wrinkle in the universe of great local microbreweries in Kansas City. We had heard about their annual 4th of July celebration that not only allows you to drink good local beer on the patio, but also comes with a front row view of the Riverfest fireworks. Oh and add in The Sandlot showing with a Screenland Armour partnership and you have one hell of a fun 4th of July blast if you're in town. I tried the Kolsch beer which I understand is a bit difficult to make, but this was very crisp and refreshing. Not the best Kolsch I've ever tried but enjoyable nonetheless. The surrounding space is very industrial, but adds to the feel. My wife remarked that the whole thing was very "Brooklyn" sans hipsters. By that she means it's an off the beaten path kind of place where the rent is cheap and the authenticity shines through. When reading about the space we saw that on normal days they offer a dollar off if you bring your dog on the patio! Definitely dog friendly.

Yelp
Quaint and enjoyable. Small tasting room but liked it. Only complaint is the option of a tasting was not on the menu. Did enjoy the beer I selected but would have liked to try more. People around us ordered food, we weren't interested but it seemed to be fast service which is always a plus when going out. Will return.

Yelp
Big Rip was a decent mini brewery in North Kansas City. They had a good selection of beers on tap and are a verified venue on Untappd if that is your kind of thing. You can cater in food from next door, and they've got popcorn for you to enjoy while you drink. The bar is quite small and is not the cleanest tap room that I've ever seen. There are plenty of better options in NKC, but I wouldn't mind giving Big Rip another chance!

Art C.

Yelp
Cool vibe. Very good beer. Cozy. Friendly. BBQ served from Hawgs next door which is really excellent . I strongly urge you to try it. Only better beer in KC is at Torn Label but Big Rip a close 2nd.
google avatar

Ellyn H.

Yelp
The beer here is the best in the city if you ask me. There isn't a beer on their menu that isn't unique, delicious, and it's always consistent. The staff here is always friendly, the beer fest they've had the past few years is a blast, and overall it's our favorite craft brewery in the metro area (believe me, we have tried them all.) Zelda's Vanilla Cream Ale is my standard choice, it's a top notch pour and is a must try! Keep up the great work, Big Rip!

Yelp
Who goes to a brewery at Noon on Easter Sunday? This girl. There's usually no shame in my game but I have to admit I was a bit embarrassed to be the only person in so early on Easter Sunday. It was my last stop in KC and I was determined to hit it up before I rolled out. So it had to be done! Beers I tried at The Big Rip - Blackberry Gluten Free - Cross between beer and wine, semi-dry finish. This had some really interesting flavor and I enjoyed the blackberries! Drinking a gluten free beer also somehow made me feel more healthy than usual. The Priest Mint Milk Chocolate Milk Stout - This wasn't quite as amazing as I had imagined based on the name. Aisle 12 West Coast IPA Hefe the Killer - German wheat Hathor's Sweet Brown - Flagship brown ale 237 Milk Stout Mr Fancy Pants English Pale - Bronze winner in Denver International Beer Festival Umbrella Kolsch - light, crisp and great for parties The Kurgan - Scotch Ale - The barkeep told me this was their best beer in awhile. Of course it's all subjective and I liked it but didn't find it to be my favorite of the tastings I had. I'm not usually into pale ales but my favorite brew at Big Rip was their Groovy Pale Ale. I told the bartender this was my fav and he said they used a different kind of hops in it that gave it its unique flavor. It took me a few sips before I really caught on to this beer. I liked Big Rip even if it was super weird being the only patron the entire time I was there. They have a game room, they have a free parking lot, they have outdoor seating...and most importantly for me - they have tasting sized portions! Also, they played 90s alternative music and I loved hearing Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkin, Weezer and Blink-182 while sipping some suds. Perfection!
google avatar

Roaming E.

Yelp
I was disappointed. The bartender was a good guy, knowledgeable and helpful in selecting a beer. Helped us get out of our comfort level with a few that typically aren't our style. Enjoyed all the beers we sampled and the two we purchased. Here's the bad though. First, forget popcorn. Probably a Covid no-no. The place wasn't busy, so the loud mouthed regular who had nothing but negatives to spew about the Royals game was grating to say the least. The fact that he couldn't comment without dropping an f bomb made it worse. A you couple with a child came in and sat next to them and within 5 min he dropped yet another f bomb with the kid within earshot. Hell, they'd have heard him in the parking lot. We decided enough and chose to tab out. Now it being Thursday, the lints were supposed to be discounted. They weren't. Insult to injury. Be hard pressed to make this a place I'd want to go back to. The beer is good. The environment not so much.
google avatar

Veronica F.

Yelp
I love this place! The server went above and beyond in making sure we had a great experience. We both enjoyed a flight. The beers are top notch and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Beer was good, great environment. Seemed to be horror themed, Just wish scary movies/scary music would've been playing to continue on the theme. Service was great, most likely will return.

Mindy H.

Yelp
Great brewery! Friendly staff and delicious beers. A bit of a dive atmosphere which I love. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Bryn C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times, the first time being two years ago. The bartenders/brewers are super knowledgeable and are frequently home brewers themselves. Great tasty beers that are a bit out of the ordinary including a root beer with a vanilla vodka. This is probably my favorite brewery in North KC, a hidden gem.
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
I am not a fan of beer, but the folks here at Big Rip were so sweet and kind with helping me to select an option. I would go back just because of the friendliness of everyone here including other patrons who seemed invested in helping me to find a beer that I would enjoy, lol.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Ashy Slashy! That would be a reference to the horror theme that Big Rip uses within its beers and the rest of its brewing processes. My fellow KC Yelpers have helped me discover yet another great craft brewery and tap room in KC. This one is out in North Kansas City. Even though they do not serve food (which is kinda big for me), their selection of finely crafted brews as well as the nice open space in this cool old industrial park makes up for any lack of food (plus you can bring your own food if you are really that hungry)! I was told that by the owners that they were the first micro-brewery on the scene here in Kansas City, save Boulevard. It has been said that Big Rip may have caused the recent explosion of craft micro-breweries here in KC. They must be doing something right! My two favorite things about Big Rip are: 1) their creativity with the beer crafting, i.e. the Vanilla Cream ale that they produce, along with a mango IPA...both quite delicious and bursting with their respective flavors; and 2) how they have so cleverly tied the names of their beers (and brewery equipment) to all things horror and sci-fi. I believe that their main brew kettle is named Ash (the hero from the cult horror movie classic Evil Dead). Clever flavor combinations and horror/sci-fi love aside, the Big Rip Brewery is a must see if you plan on visiting/touring small breweries here in KC & if you need to hold an event, they have a great space (pretty large) in the back of the smaller tap-room for private parties. I cannot wait to get back here for some pints of both the mango IPA and the Vanilla Cream ale. Cheers to the Big Rip Brewery!

Yelp
A quaint and cozy brewery where everyone knows your name. Plenty of brews to choose from...I went with the local stout...4.0 ABV...very smooth rich..it wasn't bitter and not a lot of alcohol...just a solid full bodied beer!!
google avatar

Yelp
Big Rip is one of those places kind of all by itself that not everybody knows about so you kind of feel like you're in the cool club when you find out about it. One fun about the brewery include the gentleman who opened the place wanted to brew basically enough for them to drink what they wanted every night of the week so they opened a brewery so they and their friends had something to do after work. It ended up becoming busy enough that they quit their jobs and do it full time now. They don't plan on expanding or distributing any beer besides the occasional special release (Christmas Eve is a big day, but please watch the website) because they're about the size they want to be. This is also why the beer list is constantly rotating because depending on the time of year and the popularity of a beer, they will sometimes run out. About that beer... it's pretty solid. I wouldn't say overwhelming, but good. I have a bit of a lighter pallet and some of the beers don't mesh with me, but that's okay because they have a good selection and seem to have something for everybody. The taproom is a bit small, but also kind of feels like a small club with an atmosphere of people just getting off of work and who want to have a quick beer and conversation before heading home. One small drawback is the brewery does not serve food however they do allow you to bring food in as long as you're respectful. There is also a space next to the taproom where restaurants have come and gone so depending when you read this you might be able to call next door for take out.

Yelp
I hate to shit on this place. It gives me no pleasure. I do feel obligated to discuss my experience and it wasn't great. Pros: - friendly bartender who let me try their imperial chai stout (so overpoweringly chai flavored- and I love an aggressive beer) before getting an IPA Cons: - I did not like any of the three beers I had (Aisle 12 West Coast IPA - Mango, Bacta Imperial Chai Brown Ale, Umbrella Kolsch). I'm a beer person- I've been to tons of breweries and beer festivals and this beer... well, neither of us could get through our glasses. We left them half full (or half empty??? Hmmm) - they have popcorn as a snack! Cool! But it was stale AF on a Saturday evening... woof. - Blaring punk music We tried two other breweries during our weekend trip and had much better experiences.

Yelp
Drink brew and order some of the best barbecue in town right next door. Off the beaten path. A must for those that are tired of the same ol thing!

Yelp
Amazing beer and service....owner Kip is awesome! Definitely get the "Mug Club".... totally worth it!

Yelp
Unsuspecting location and great beer! Fun games available and you can order bbq through a computer from the restaurant next door! I will most definitely be trying that next time. Cute little patio for when the weather gets nicer!

Yelp
My favorite brewery in North Kansas City. Always a changing menu of great beers. Bartenders are friendly and fun to be around. Great location.

Yelp
The name isn't actually in reference to a fart joke; it's a cosmological hypothesis that the expansion of the universe will tear apart all matter contained therein. Better drink this beer in the mean time while we wait and see on that one. Their beer is always solid. They brew it in tanks named after horror movie characters and feature those posters on the wall of the taproom, what's not to love? Right now their Mr. Fancy Pants beer is my choice, but Hefe the Killer is a great backup. Sometimes they do sell out, that's the price of being good. Charities get a lot of love from this brewery, they support a new non-profit every quarter. In the last year or so they've added outdoor seating and a ton of arcade games. They seriously feature some of the coolest bar staff too. During a networking event here I got to talking to a guy about sword fighting. I got the wooden swords out of my trunk, and we got a lot of people involved in duels on their patio. Check them out for the 4th of July too! Movies and a good view of the fireworks is just what you need.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but can't just yet. I understand small business can't take the loss of revenue over bad beer, but the off flavors in some of these brews made them barely palatable- not a great first impression for new customers. Hidden away in an industrial area in North KC, the Big Rip seemed like a welcome addition for beer-lovers of KC. Only open Friday-Sunday, we made the trip over to try out their brews a few weeks after their grand opening. It took a little bit to find this place in a rather unassuming warehouse, but the interior was decorated nicely with seating for around 30 people and views of the brewing area. We decided on the sampler, so we could try 5 of their 6 beers on tap for $10. We tried the Boomstick Pale Ale v. 1, Sweet Brown (which they referred to as their flagship), the Wild Ale, Milk Stout, and a gluten free fruit beer (the 6th one we didn't try was a coffee porter). The Milk Stout was pretty good and the Brown was fair, but the others had a VERY ODD flavor - kind of like a mixture of metallic (most prominent), Band-Aids and over chlorinated water. Though not a professional brewer, I have enough experience to recognize that something was NOT RIGHT with most of their brews. The flavor was particularly prominent in the Wild Ale and the gluten free fruit beer. It may have been the new equipment and brew kettle- it sure looked shiny! Maybe it was infusing some off flavors. Or maybe the water source or cleaning process was giving the weird flavor. Whatever it was IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP if this place is going to make it. Pints ranged from $5-6 but I won't be back at least for a couple of months. Maybe by then the flavors will be fixed and the brewers can have another go at it.

Yelp
Although not a beer drinker, I like Big Rip. I was a little disappointed they did not actually have a root "beer" as was talked about in a conversation with them. They do have a homemade root beer that they make alcoholic with vodka. I'm not a vodka drinker either. Hmmm maybe root beer and whiskey? Anyhow, I did try a beer and it was enjoyable. I don't drink carbonated beverages so couldn't make it through the entire beer, but I would recommend it to the beer drinkers out there! This is a small batch brewery that does not distribute. They have about ten beer selections with a good variety to satisfy every beer drinkers fancy. They have a window where you can check out the brewing and some video games off the brewing area. The music may be the best in town! If you grew up in the nineties and didn't wear full denim (I'm talking to you Brittney and Justin fans) you will love the music also. Of course I had to ask and it is generally the Weezer station on Pandora. Guess who is bringing back their Pandora! Sorry Spotify, we aren't breaking up, I just need some space. Location is great and service is fantastic! If you have not checked out this gem do so! And eat before you go unless you are on a pretzel diet. Some food truck partnerships would be a total win!!! Finally, if you are scared of clowns don't look through the window to the brewery area. They have a little horror theme going throughout and some evil clowns back there.

Yelp
SUCH. A. FUN. PLACE. Family comes here for a nice drink and a fun game night. Great bartenders and fun environment - always telling us about the brews and options available. Love these little hole in the wall places available.

Yelp
Great beer! Really liked the variety, there was something for everyone. Good prices too. The atmosphere was a little bland, but we really liked it for a quick stop. They have a TV for watching the games. Only one person staffed when we went on a Friday night and you had to stop at the bar to get a drink. I would plan on stopping here for a few drinks, but not really an all-night stop.

Yelp
Absolutely pathetic. They're putting on a Halloween event and we thought it sounded fun. When we got there, we sat down to a menu of drinks that read "everything $13". Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, on that menu is worth anywhere in the ballpark of $13. The drink my girlfriend ordered was the most disgusting god awful thing either of us has ever tasted. It was one ounce of some gross mixture of liquor with whipped cream on top to fill the glass. We took one sip each, paid and left. They're blatantly ripping people off here and should be ashamed. I will never return to this place ever again.

Yelp
Pretty cool place. They have are attached to a bbq place so you can order and enjoy beer at the same time. We went a little later in the evening and it was a good crowd. Lots of board games, high top tables and good beer. Overall impressed. I feel like it's not a super well known place but it should be!

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this brewery. A gluten free person like me normally does not have options at places like this. Well guess what!! The owner, Josh, his wife has Celiacs, so guess what he makes? You guessed correctly-they always have a gluten free beer on tap. The GF beer is a combo flavor of: wine, cider and beer. The one they had last night was a blackberry, they were brewing up the raspberry. The owner is a great person, doesn't want to go big. They want to keep it a small business. They have a back room, which you can rent out it has a projector, small bar and another TV. They do have bar snacks, its a self serve area, sounds like this is open on the weekends. They have many beer options, which I was not able to try since I am gluten free but everyone else seemed to enjoy their beer. Prices are good, I think I saw $5 for a 12oz. It's out of our way but I have a feeling we will be back, since they carry gluten free. They are the only brewery that makes their own GF beer in the metro. You can bring your own food in! So go ahead, order that pizza and go have yourself a beer :)

Yelp
Big Rip is another gem of the Northland and they have lots of spunky beer flavors. The popcorn and nacho machines are clutch when you plan to stick around for a bit! This place is pretty popular for filling growlers/beer to go. The tasting room is on the small side and you order at the bar!

Yelp
Chai milk stout - feeling my zen and then some. This brewery gets high points for creativity - the Mango IPA and the Sweet Tater Ale are originals. The Sweet Tater Ale is smooth with a hint of sweetness, worth a trip before your family Thanksgiving visit. I recommend a visit.

Yelp
This brewery has some of the best beer in KC. On a nice day I recommend getting a beer and sitting outside. You can also order Hawg Jaw from inside Big RIP.
