The Bioscope is a gem of an independent cinema in Johannesburg! The atmosphere is warm, creative, and full of character – from the vintage film projector on display to the beautifully curated posters and art on the walls. The space feels welcoming, with café area outside to relax before or after a screening. Staff were friendly. They also offer private screenings and the option to rent the cinema for birthdays or special events, which makes it even more versatile and fun. Worth checking out!

While we didn't get a chance to catch a movie this time around, we did get to indulge in their amazing pizza and drinks menu. The real treat, though, was being able to enjoy our meal outside in the sun. We savored every bite of our delicious pizza, and the atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful. The menu offerings were impressive, with a range of tasty pizzas and drinks to choose from. The quality of the food was top-notch, and the prices were very reasonable. We're already looking forward to our next visit, when we can finally catch a movie in this unique and charming setting.

Very cool experience, the vibe is artsy, there's food options in the theater as well as around. Parking is on the street, however it is not bad. Overall this experience is something you should try at least once

What a lekker experience. Like the old days. A nice small movie house (47 seats) The seats are car seats, albeit not brand new, but with loads of character and made us feel like the old Drive-in days. Big tubs of popcorn and you can even order a meal to take into the movies with you. Latest Movies were only R100.(12 Jan 2025) Staff are really on the ball, friendly, informative. Will definitely be going back there.

We were invited to a private screening of the SISONKE project at the cinema. The cinema is so retro and has the most beautiful memorabilia throughout. It is liking stepping back in time to an era when going to view a movie was a special treat. We were offered light snacks, drinks and popcorn. It was a lovely evening and I am going to return to visit the surrounding stores during the day. This place is a frozen moment in time and I love it!!!

Amazing food in a vibey setting. Service was excellent too. The gluten-free base was tasty and the salads are fresh! Nifty curio shop. Chess boards on the tables if you fancy a game over lunch.

We went to this venue for Bioscope Sundays to see the improvised comedy show that they have on Sundays. It was absolutely brilliant and I haven't laughed like that in ages. The comedians were so funny. It is a beautiful venue, with great pizzas and the small theatre gives it a very personal feel. It was a lovely, memorable night out and I would definitely recommend!

Went for Jozi Palestine festival. Great venue. Quaint and Cody. Descent coffee and pizza at the cafe Decor great, with old movie memorabilia to view. Able to take food into viewing area. Only problem is seats. Need refurbishing and some softness. Definitely will keep a closer eye on the movies they offer. Need to go back
