Small, cozy music venue with live music every night of the week, a real Northbridge favourite. Entry is very affordable at $10 - $15 on average, dependant on the artist or band. The main downside to this venue is the smoking area out the back, feels outdated and absolutely reeks (as these places do).

Google
Watched my friends play live here. I love the atmosphere display has to offer especially the outdoor section feels very inviting and friendly. You almost forget that you’re in Northbridge.

Google
I would like to give this bar 5 stars because of the staff member on the door around 9PM last night 8/9/2025. They were really approachable and explained the entry fee that night is a pay what you feel for the fund raising initiative the bar was doing for international women’s day. They were super friendly and an additional note, myself and my friend who is trans 🏳️‍⚧️, showing photo ID for entry can always be a tricky situation for them as the photo was quite old, however the person on the door was so friendly and made the situation very comfortable for them. I’ve been going to the bird since i was 18 and seeing the same bar staff around must be a sign it’s a great business and the turnover isn’t high at all. Great job to that person and thankyou so much for being you. Unteachable sensitive people skills 🩷🩷🩷

Really great venue for small, live shows. Outdoor area is amazing to get some air away from the stage. Vibes are just great.

Cannot say enough good things. Fantastic venue with live music most nights of the week. Cool drinks and friendly staff.

Came to see Sharin Attamimi play and were pleasantly surprised by the bar staff, particularly Zara. She was personable, super friendly and welcoming, exactly what you want when you go out to see local, live music. I'll definitely be back

Google
Friend just asked me to come here for a drink. Realised I never reviewed my last. Just an overpriced hole with zero customer service. Best avoided, much better places close by, try them.

Google
Thick smell of smoke, so warning for the sensitive. Tiny cozy indoor with bar and live stage, almost always having live performances. Even cozier outdoor seating under a big tree with cute lights. A lot of candles but the outdoor is not heated. Bring an extra jacket and enjoy.

Yelp
A small bar with live music, a cracking courtyard and lovely staff, what's not to love? From the Hip-Hop Kara"YO!"ke to the Open Mic nights or more famous touring bands performing, there really is something to suit all musical tastes at The Bird. They've started serving food out the back on Wednesdays. Hotdogs hilariously named 'Bird Dogs', which are the bomb. The Jap Dog, a pork sausage topped with Japanese mayo, sesame seeds and seaweed was like a Harajuku Girls party in my mouth.

Yelp
I Love The Bird! I have never had a bad time at this little bar. They have a great drinks menu (try the apple cocktail it is so delicious) There is always good music with local & international acts Every so often they hold really different & fun nights - hip hop karaoke, bare faced stories, check the facebook page to find out when these are all on Reasonably priced & yummy food served in the courtyard on Sundays Really friendly bar staff, very reasonable prices. This place is like a friends house, sometimes it is a full on house party and other times it is just chilled and relaxed. If you every find yourself in Northbridge surrounded by fist pumping douche bags & scantily clad oompa loompas duck in here for an oasis of normality.

Yelp
I love this joint. It's casually hip, the bar tenders are chipper and it's one of the few watering holes around Perth that provides a non-cringe dance floor experience. No top-40 music and no sweaty elbows or shoulders in your jaw. Every second Thursday of the month, The Bird hosts Hip-Hop Kara"YO!"ke where keen ghetto superstar wannabes get behind the mic and lay down lines from their favourtie rap and hip-hop tracks. This isn't spontaneous karaoke though, contenders take it pretty seriously and some rehearse for weeks in advance. It's an awesome vibe and some of the talent is really impressive! Each karaoke night, winners are drawn, and at the end of the year, trophy holders regroup for the title of Hip-Hop Karaoke King or Queen. Get down early for this night though; the place draws a line from around 7:30pm

Yelp
Loved this hole in the wall bar. Loved the art battle concept. It was great to see something like that encouraging local talent that isn't your usual live band or act. Two artists, one theme they have a time frame to paint a canvas each, and punters were each given a bottle cap with which to vote for their fave. Then you could bid on them if you liked them at an auction. Beers were relatively cheap as others have mentioned in their reviews. Feral hop hog and sly fox on tap went down a treat. They were selling $2 snacks in the courtyard, bread and chorizo as well as chicken and avo squares. Sweet deal. Courtyard was pretty cool. Reminded me of Mr. Falcon's in Sydney. Backyard eclectic look. It really was a good, relaxed atmosphere which was a world away from the odd collection of drunks and chicks wearing midriff tops and skirts out on the street. $5 cover charge clearly keeps out the riffraff. Not a joke.

Yelp
The place is deceptively large. We went on a Friday night after work. There was a cover charge for a band performance. They have the yummiest apple strudel drink! You've got to try it. Liquid apple strudel. Yummilicious. The band was not too bad but we were catching up with our friends outside in the courtyard so we could have a conversation without screaming. There is another bar out there so we did not have to wander too far to get more drinks. It started pouring - Thank goodness for the cover. We were dry and so were the other patrons outside. The bathroom was pretty clean. There was a line when we left around 2230. (No line around 2030) it was also pretty busy inside but the live band was performing then. Not a bad place to drink and hang out!

Yelp
The bird is one of my favourite bars of all time. Whether I'm looking for somewhere to sit and enjoy the sunshine and have some peace while I read my book of an afternoon, or whether I want to drink my Friday evening away with friends, the Bird always delivers exactly what I want and need. From the days of almost worryingly cheap glasses of wine when they first opened, to the packed evening they offer now, The Bird has been home to many amazing nights. My friends and I spent a long time enjoying Friday nights (Bird Friday's as they were lovingly known). From 5pm, we could be found enjoying bottle after bottle of rose and suddenly, our night would have run away from us. While personally, hip hop karaoke is not my usually thing, the nights I have popped down have been some of my best. An emphasis on live music is something that I hold dear to my heart, and The Bird have their music selection nailed. I don't know where else I've seen such diverse programming. The extension of the garden was a great idea; having the extra space, gives bigger groups, which you often find there, the option to be comfortable without impeding on other people. The recent addition of food to their already plentiful menu has made The Bird one of the most well rounded venues I know. Music, wine, cocktails and beers plus food and the diverse space means that now caters for the whole night. Clever on their part and perfect for people who like to enjoy food as much as they like to drink.

Yelp
This place is relatively brand new but is also drawing a big crowd. I run this risk here of sounding old but it seems to be quite a hipster crowd but nice and casual. I do have an issue here with the lack of pint glasses, they only serve schooners, which isn't a majot issue I suppose, Im just stuck in my ways. I actually really like this place and would much rather find myself here than somewhere else in Northbridge. The music was pretty good here on a Saturday night until the poor DJ got the crowd all rialled up with a good hiphop tune and then he lost power...oops!

Yelp
So I came here with a friend to meet a few other friends :) i was celebrating some good news i had just got and we were meeting some other friends! The bar tender was very helpful and friendly!! Made it very easy to choose what to drink! I was caught taking pictures and he even knew about Yelp! Score!! :) It's a nice quirky little place to chill out with mates!! I will definitely come here again

Yelp
The Bird on William Street is a cute bar a short walk from the train station. There is a real hipster vibe at The Bird - from the decor, which is self-consciously trendy with its exposed brick work and decorative steel bird cages hanging over the counter [get it? hardy hah], to its patrons, who are largely indie kids wearing the latest fashions. As a bar, The Bird is serviceable, although their collection of tap beers is limited. The interior is very dimly lit, for reasons unknown - perhaps it's trendy to be barely able to see your drinks? However, there is a small courtyard in the back containing a jumble of furniture for seating, and usually serviced by a DJ spinning tracks. As a live venue, The Bird has good acoustics. The sound is loud enough for everything to be heard clearly, without preventing people from conversing. There are no extra lights for the stage, so at times, it seems like shadow people are playing for your amusement. This can be either effective or frustrating, depending on the band. The Bird is a staunch supporter of local live music which is fantastic, although they might want to consider investing in some lights.

Yelp
Hop hog on tap, cocktails, dancing, an outdoor area and a good crowd on a Friday evening. You can get toasties out the back for $6. Try the mac and cheese and broccoli one.

Yelp
Every time I head here I have an amazing time. It is filled with some of Perth's coolest indie kids. Dressed head to toe in the latest vintage threads, the vibes in this place match the cool bands that play here. I have seen quite a few shows here, I watched The tumblers with Tim Gordon play the other night, with the support of Patent little sister, it was an amazing night filled with good music and good company. The drinks are priced nicely and the staff are dressed well and really lovely. It has a row of booths if you want to sit down and chill. They have couches and benches in front of the stage as well as some dance space. The outside area is also pretty great, heaps of seating and a great smoking area. All round goodness is had at this cute little venue.

Yelp
Bird is the word. Love this place. It's a decor all vintage and dark yet still has this glowing feel. Love the events they have here I've seen Loop troop play and some various other music gigs which have always been so enjoyable however I've seen movies and so many different gigs set up here. staff are always friendly, drinks always made quickly and Lines Go very fast. Joy food options on various nights ( I have had a delicious amazingly replicated in-and-out burger) and many other drunken evenings have been spent here with friends enjoying the breeze and atmosphere outside and moving on to other bars in northbridge because the location really is perfect and close to the train station aswell! Not to mention waffles for after so close by!!

Yelp
Such a cool little small bar/music venue in the centre of Northbridge. The music varies night to night from live bands to rap karaoke to Northern Soul nights (where I am usually to be found). It's not a big place by any stretch of the imagination so be prepared to get up close and personal on busy nights. $5 Feral Sly Foxes and a courtyard out the back make The Bird a great place to hang out even if you're not there for the music.
google avatar

Chau G.

Yelp
One of the more cozier venues in Northbridge. The only downside, sometimes the bands are a little bit too loud and I find myself hiding in the courtyard at the back to avoid contracting tinnitus. But its definitely a sociable experience to all concerned

Yelp
The Bird is always the go-to for a great night. Favourite place in Perth, easily. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and a brand new food menu during the day makes it even more enticing to pop over after work!

Yelp
The Bird is small pub scene that's great to catch live gigs, its very chilled and the best place to go and meet new people. Drinks are pretty cheap and the bar staff make for a fun, energetic atmosphere. Most of the people that fill it have individual style, so if your hate the mainstream scene this is probably the place for you. The Bird sort of feels like your at a house party with the dimly lit room and snug setting. It stands out from other bars because no other places are as mellow yet as entertaining as this.

Yelp
Small, vibey, hipster bar with a small stage for live music and an outdoor patio area with plush and bench seating. Rustic feel. AMAZING drinks, however pricey - 17$ for a cocktail!!!! Yikes! I recommend the apple crumble cocktail it was delish! The crowd is very hipster, the atmosphere is cool, relaxed. Would go again with a couple friends for a drink or to see a band.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere here. In the back there's also a fantastic outdoor area. I really enjoyed listening to live bands here.

Yelp
I'm writing from a fairly different angle here: as a vendor who joined a group of friends at their pop-up market stall at The Bird on a Sunday afternoon. I've always known this place to be an intimate, hip hangout and am regularly invited to catch live gigs here (to friends reading this, just no poetry readings, okay? I'm not into spoken word). To see the place transform into a mini bazaar on a Sunday is amazing. There were about 10 stalls in total including ours. And the secondhand, one-off goods being sold were as unique, collectible, and often as kitsch as anything you'd find on Guildford Road in Maylands. I hope The Bird continue to hold their occasional markets on a weekend. The days inevitably lead to fun and drinking after dark and we need a decent venue to enjoy a good Sunday session in Northbridge now that larger venues like The Brass Monkey appear to have had their day.

Yelp
I've spent a few nights out at the Bird. Usually having to push myself to the cramped outdoor area since there's no space inside, after having lined up and/or payed an inordinate amount of money/time, only to perch myself on a wall squashed between a friend and a stranger (if i'm lucky). The Bird does however, have it's perks. Consistent live music from near or far, A hip hop karaoke night, which has garnered a lot of attention from my friends, as well as poetry readings (if that's what you're into) and other live performances. Perhaps it'd be a nicer place to go in the day for a quiet drink and a sit down, but if you don't like large crowds in tiny places, don't bother with the Bird on a weekend or a Wednesday night.

Yelp
Pretty great little place. The atmosphere has got a bohemian vibe, for a relaxing experience. The staff are great, and there is a great little outdoor seating area. A true diamond in the ruff!

Yelp
Depending on your slang, "Bird" might evoke images of lasses, most likely of the sexy variety. I'm unfamiliar with this term, unless it is a broad stroke of "chick". Rather I drum up images of robins chipper and free, swooping in and out trees. And, this is how I view The Bird. Bare bones and functional equipped with a stage, small outdoor space and (gasp!) clean bathrooms. Simply put this place is modest and homey. Not flashy and definitely not pompous, The Bird and their clientele won't remind you of the standard "Hotel" around here. What you'll find is beer, mustaches, suspenders and scuffed oxfords. Here's to me hoping what Heaven looks like!

Yelp
Love getting down to the bird. Brilliant staff who are friendly and know their stuff when it comes to drinks. On Sundays they have a little kitchen which operates and provides really decent food for under $10 a serve! Music is always good, and I really like their outdoor decking.

Yelp
Everything you could possibly want in a small bar; live music, tasty beverages, an intimate courtyard, as well as great street style food. Very easy to spend an entire afternoon there (and accidentally end up staying until closing time).

Yelp
Perfect atmosphere with interesting cocktails, try an "apple crumble" from "mudsy" the cocktail guru. The deco is vintage/casual with a trendy, hip crowd i discovered soaking up the sun in the rear courtyard. I'm looking forward to trying some food soon, only my first visit with many more to come.

Yelp
Although a relatively new joint in the Perth bar scene, the Bird has fast become a real favourite amongst Northbridge's trendy, alternative and hipster types. The place has this cool homely kind of vibe and a beer garden which feels just like your relaxing at a mate's place on a lazy afternoon, making it perfect for after work drinks. But The Bird is one of those bars that goes beyond just looking like a cool place to hang, something I find too many of Perth's bars fall into the trap of. I've been to spoken word performances and seen live music there too, which in a place like The Bird, makes for a very intimate and cozy experience. One of the bar staff is also the creator of local Independent art mag Relative - very cool mag! Drinks were kind of expensive, and I do find the cover charge to be a real deterrent. It's usually around $15, which for such a tiny place with an artsy kind of vibe, I feel is waaaay too steep. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Ezra Pound (which is only a few doors up), the Moon Cafe, or bar 399.

Yelp
Yes I am a fan, if my check-ins here are anything to go by. I love the Bird for its courtyard on a sunny day. I feel like I am sitting around someone's backyard (a communal, university share-house type backyard). The other enjoyable aspect to this quirky little place is its eclectic mix of people, clearly also like-minded folk who enjoy hanging out at other peoples' houses too.

Yelp
Really great atmosphere with a good crowd. Bar tenders are nice and very helpful. My Favourite spot in Northbridge.

Yelp
Any place that sells decently priced pints of tasty local craft beers is a winner in my books. Worth checking out some of the artists they have playing there too.

Yelp
Some unique events complemented by a venue with a wonderful vibe, cool interior and laid back courtyard.

Yelp
In this dark little pocket on William Street, DJs, storytellers, bands and poets come alive each night of the week under a single spotlight. The Bird is THE place to go for live performances of the alternative and burgeoning variety. It's a compact venue that doesn't try to be anything other than a good bar with a modest stage where people can catch up over a drink and enjoy some light entertainment. The great thing about The Bird is if you don't like what's going on inside, you can head out back where the air is open and the vibe is intimate, and engage in some uninterrupted conversation. On a Friday and Saturday night, it can be difficult to find a seat, but through the week the space is ideal. The bar staff are so friendly, I actually just wanted to stay and keep talking to one of them the last time I was there, and the drinks are reasonably priced compared to some of the more hoity-toity joints of Perth. I hate to pigeonhole here, but I don't think my commercial music-loving friends would enjoy this place, so if you have a penchant for contemporary style and all things mainstream, you might not appreciate this place as much as me.
