These lodgings were only built a few years ago and still have that 'new car' smell and feel. The suite I rented was roomy and clean. All of the furnisings were made of solid pine and most importantly the bed was comfy.
The resort is set up so that all of the rooms to the doors are accessed from the great outdoors so you can pull up and park right in front of your room. Since I travel a lot and hate carrying luggage down long hallways, drive up rooms always apeal to me. The front desk is located in a small building in the parking lot and beside this is a covered area with a few bbq's for guests to use. An indoor pool, hot tub and sauna is located in the building across from the office for guests use.
The price of the room includes breakfast. Normally I wouldn't mention this, but I was pretty impressed with what they offered. Which included fruit salad, boiled eggs, various types of bread for toast, instant oatmeal, cold cereal, orange juice, yogurt, cottage cheese, a variety of teas and coffee, and for a little wow factor, waffles that you make fresh yourself.
The resort has free wireless internet, but it doesn't reach all the rooms. If you can't get a signal they have internet cables at the front desk. The free toiletries (i.e. soaps, conditioner, shampoo etc.) are nothing to write home about so I won't discuss these any further. My room came with a microwave, a small bar fridge, and coffee maker. I think one of the best features of the Black Bear Resort is the view.
