Went for our 12 year together anniversary. The Blacksmith never fails. Started with crab cakes and the cheese plate. I'll post pics, AMAZING. I had the filet with onion bacon jam and the blue cheese butter. Steak was cooked to perfection. I ate maybe a 4th of my dinner, appetizers were filling. Took it home, had it for dinner the next evening, still surprisingly wonderful. My husband had the pork chop special with mustard sauce. I am not a fan of mustard, had a bite and it was the perfect amount of mustard without being overwhelming. We try to go to new places for our dates, but it's hard not to continue to go to the The Blacksmith because you know it will be top notch.

It was my girlfriend’s birthday and we were in Bend for a beautiful and wonderful weekend getaway. I researched steakhouses and I chose the Blacksmith for birthday dinner. When walking into the restaurant you are instantly greeted and it feels like you are in a very classy restaurant but not too classy… The decor is very steakhouse setting, high chairs, white cloths, was perfect. We ordered an appetizer, we both had steaks which grilled to perfection. My girl and I each had drinks that were mixed amazingly. We are both foodies, we love going to steakhouses for special occasions or just whenever we travel, both of us agreed that Blacksmith was one of our top 5 that we have been to. So I (we) definitely would recommend this to anyone traveling or visiting Bend and I for sure would go back when I am in town and have the time… Thank you for an amazing dining experience

The Blacksmith is always wonderful! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Bend, if not THE favorite. I always like to sit at the bar whether I’m having a drink or not, and the filet is always fantastic. Oddly enough, this is the third time that the tuna pokey appetizer wasn’t good. It was more grayish than pink or red, and it had a funky smell. Oh well! I actually got the hamburger this last visit and I'm still thinking about how juicy and delicious it was! And we were there on a Sunday so it's happy hour all day and the burger was only $22. Worth every penny! The atmosphere, the attentive, kind servers and the delicious main courses make this a 5 star rating for sure! Highly recommend, just makes sure the ahi is fresh!

Google
The food here is amazing it comes out stunning and tastes exquisite! Brooke, the bartender makes delicious cocktails while giving great service! We will absolutely be back, the caesar salad is the best I've ever had! My last visit I brought a friend who had never been there and she was also very pleased. We had a couple craft cocktails, I really liked the Thai coconut martini drink. Everything was timed really well by our server and came out hot and fresh. The Mac and cheese is a staple here, definitely try it with crab! So good!

Google
Best comparison I can make is a Texas Roadhouse with steakhouse prices. I looked at a few steakhouses in the area as an out of towner and this popped up and had overwhelmingly great reviews. Unfortunately the chefs nor bartenders make good food or drinks. Also partly my fault, we asked and were told that all the cuts of beef are USDA Choice (something you’d get at an all you can eat place), but charging $60+ per pound. So it’s not a steakhouse but the expectations were in line with the prices. Half the meat was also more medium well/well done (ordered medium rare) and tough. Bartender also does not know how to make a whiskey sour, or I suppose what it should at least look like. Looked to book for Valentine’s Day but I’m glad we couldn’t get a table and ate elsewhere. The place is popular somehow so I guess they can get away with charging these prices for the quality of food and chefs that they have, but I won’t recommend to friends. Staff was friendly though, no complaints there, though service is more in line with bar and grill type restaurant and not steakhouse. Likely it was a mismatch of expectations leading to this review, but regardless of price, the food was not good Tell the chef to add butter and whipping cream to mashed potato’s lol these were god awful

Google
Great place with very good food. The salmon and steaks were top tier. Service was good but took a long time to get our meal.

Google
All the steak knives here match the style of Count Dooku’s lightsaber from Star Wars. I don’t understand why this restaurant would choose to put Count Dooku themed steak knives at all our plates! I think a dark saber steak knife would’ve made sense because this place is called the Blacksmith and they could’ve made a reference to the blacksmith from Mandalorian and more Star Wars fans would understand the reference since Count Dooku is a bit more obscure.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at the Blacksmith. Started out with the crab corn dogs, what a tasty surprise. We followed them with a salmon filet and shrimp pasta, both were excellent. Finished the evening with the bread pudding, highly recommend getting it with the bacon crumbles. Our server Austin was great and the entire staff was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back, next time to try one of the steak options.

Yelp
Excellent service, food, and ambiance. Very nice wine selection. I'll return the next time I'm in Bend.

Yelp
We visited the Blacksmith for dinner recently, and were given a choice of sitting at a table in the dining room or at the bar. There was no waiting for seating at the bar, so that's what we chose. Tip: The full menu is served both in the dining room and at the bar To kick off the meal, we both ordered vodka martinis. These were made extremely well, with just the right amount of vermouth. We ordered several dishes to share (typical bar food) and enjoyed everything we ordered :-) All the dishes were extremely tasty and very well presented. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, while the service was attentive and efficient. We throughly enjoying our dining experience, and look forward to returning.

Yelp
Great first-night dining experience last night! The Kobe filet was outstanding! Three of us had Kobe filets cooked perfectly. As far as sides, we loved the mashers, mac and cheese, and French fries--all were excellent. Rosemary bread was good and warm, too. The atmosphere was calm, with nice lighting, low music, and a chill vibe. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this spot for a great meal.

Yelp
We made reservations at Blacksmith about a month out for a Saturday at 5pm and unfortunately were wildly disappointed. I will start with the positive, which was our gracious and knowledgeable server who answered all our questions on the menu and was generous with their time. My partner and I each ordered cocktails, caesar salads, and the Blacksmith Kobe burger. The salads and drinks were good with nice plating and presentation respectably. We were impressed with the unique approach to their Caesar salad and their scratch approach to the key items of this staple dinner item. After this however, our visit went downhill as the burgers took well over an hour to come out and after taking our first bites it was clear why it had taken so long as they were probably cooking the meat that entire hour. The burgers were dry as a bone - to the point where the patty itself didn't hold its shape anymore after taking a bite and broke into sections, far from the medium rare and medium well we ordered (just zoom in on the photo of the burger to see how charred it was). We each could only stand to eat half of it and I think it was only that much because we were starving from skipping lunch while being out on Bachelor all day. We never complained about anything and the manager came out on their own volition to apologize while we were waiting and our server offered us bread as we waited. They offered us a free dessert as well at the end but we declined as we had already been there too long and were late for our 7:30 show. This place has good reviews so I imagine your experience won't mirror ours but be wary as they definitely have the off day bad enough to make you not willing to give them a second chance.

Yelp
Excellent service from a very friendly and competent staff. Appetizer (corn dog style crab cake) was quite novel and good, though lacked a strong crab presence. Cocktails and mocktails were really good. Two members of the 10 person group had the ribeye and were both disappointed in the very fatty cuts. I ordered mine Oscar style and am convinced that the crab was an attempt to cover up a slightly lesser cut. Quiet, dark space was a great location for a 10 person, two-family dinner.

Sylvia H.

Yelp
The dim lighting gave my partner and I the most romantic dinner for our early V-day date, The steak was cooked to perfection and the drinks were amazing!

Lara B.

Yelp
Had truly the best meal and experience. Was sat with a lovely and genuine server named Alex! Ordered ahi tuna for appetizer then the bacon wrapped filet for dinner. Both 10/10 fabulous. Two glasses of red wine and it was an awesome experience, well worth the price. Will come back every time!

Donna K.

Yelp
The food, service and quieter atmosphere have never disappointed us. Whenever we are in Bend we always dine here for a special night out!

Yelp
Known primarily as a steak house, which it definitely is, Blacksmith also sports a great bar with solid happy hour deals. I'm not a steak person but I'll be returning to sit at the bar for sure. Top tier service. - The burger is of the old school variety (i.e. not smashed) similar to Pine Tavern and Drake. It's good. - Poke bowl is reportedly good too but I didn't steal a sample.

Yelp
Amazing experience! I sat at the bar, staff was very welcoming and helpful. To start I ordered the Cheese Plate.. it was very good and the prosciutto was salty and greasy and porky in a really good way. Was really good paired with the toasty bread and apple-jam. All cheeses were awesome too. I decided to treat myself and get the Blacksmith Signature Tomahawk 115/130 -medium to medium well, with a side of asparagus and a baked potato. Presentation was amazing, meat was extremely soft and tender, had a great grilled taste. The Demi & bearnaise sauce was excellent! Sweet, but also savory. I am normally not a fan of fat, but the fat on this steak melted away. I also enjoyed a few glasses of Hennessy and ended up meeting a friend there who got a Surf & Turf 66... I of course tried and that too was really good. I can't wait to return to this restaurant again. Nice environment, super cozy, dark, but not too dark. It is on the higher end side, so be prepared to spend a good penny! :) I ended up meeting the chef to give him his props and he was super nice and willing to meet with me even though he was busy. Great guy and great Chef!

Yelp
Hostess was kind and friendly, food was good. My waiter not so much. Some reason he skipped coming to my table on all of his rounds. As he was just approaching but decided to turn around rather than take my plate..but went to talk to the guys across from me hmmm

Carl M.

Yelp
It was my first time here at Blacksmith and the ambiance is so cavernous and spooky, it is great for our Oct 1st visit. I love the real candles and stone. The drinks were pretty good. I had the spicy martini, it was a bit too spicy for me though, left my lips with a constant burn.. but in a good way. We got a few nibbles.. asparagus and truffle fries. The asparagus was okay but the fries were so good! Service was great at this place! I'll come back for more of a fine dining experience. Hope they have some vegan options!!

Scott M.

Yelp
My wife and I went for our anniversary and everybody there was very nice. Theyall wished us a happy anniversary and the service was fantastic. My wife and I shared the tomahawk steak and had dessert. Everything was great and cooked well would definitely come back. I would recommend for anybody going out for nice dinner.

Jenn K.

Yelp
Visited last night- not overly impressed for the price. The service was meh- hostess was polite but the waiter was not attentive. Didn't even check to see if we were enjoying the meals or needed anything else. We ordered the tomahawk medium rare and it was too well done and the meat was tough. The other sides were tasty-especially the brussel sprouts. The ambiance was nice. So many good steak houses in town- likely the first and last visit for us.

Kayak Q.

Yelp
This place used to be known for its reasonably priced happy hour menu; clearly that is a thing of the past when the current menu includes a basic burger for $25! All other menu items are only $2 off regular prices, not even worth it. The service was absolutely ABYSMAL, especially for a place that is charging top dollar for their food. I've had much better service at a sports bar! We tried to get help from no less than 4 different servers and we were ignored or apparently forgotten and no apology or acknowledgment was made. I would have given our experience 1 star but the beet salad was really good so it gets a star for yum. Definitely won't be back which is a shame since this has been a long-time favorite place, but when you're paying top dollar for a meal the service should reflect that. Do a better job training your staff!!!!

Yelp
We were visiting the Bend area for a family reunion, and the fellas wanted to have a nice steak meal. Blacksmith was able to accommodate our large party of 16 in a private room. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but after 6pm many business parking spots are usable. The receptionist was friendly and guided our group towards the private room. Our culinary adventure started with the Garlic Truffle Fries, Beet Salad and Poke. All were fantastic, especially the Beet Salad being a surprisingly flavorful selection. After a few drinks, we ordered several entrees including the Tomahawk Steak with Mashed Potatoes. Needless to say we did share it, and it came out cooked to perfection. Our server was extremely friendly and patient as my group was challenging to say the least. Overall a wonderful fine dining experience awaits at Blacksmith!

Anne C.

Yelp
This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Bend. We have had full steak dinners with all the trimmings to a smaller feast made up of the seafood special and yummy appetizers. And the service and ambiance are always top notch!

Cici G.

Yelp
This is my first time here and it did not disappoint. The ambience is a little dark/moody but in a romantic kind of way! Food: overall 8/10 -ribeye 8/10 -bacon wrapped filet 7.5/10 -drinks 10/10 Service 10/10

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Service was excellent for our party of 11 on a Friday night. The place was hopping, and the food was delicious. I've been to the Blacksmith twice now, and each time I ordered a different rendition of Filet Mignon -- and both have been memorable. This time I got the "Steak & Fries", with a perfectly cooked medium-rare filet, topped with chimichurri, and served with demi-glace and a pile of crispy fries. Paired it with a glass of Malbec, and I was in taste bud heaven. Our other courses were outstanding as well. The tuna poke was tender like butter, and the balance of salty soy and wasabi kick was just right. Then the beet salad was also spot-on, with my only wish being a little more texture -- a little more rich goat cheese, and maybe a little more candied walnut crunch. For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse, which was a nice finish to the evening. The chocolate flavor was deep, not too sweet, and the whipped cream on top was just right for lightening it up. We'll definitely be back -- probably my current favorite restaurant in Bend right now.

Jessica S.

Yelp
I've been in Bend for almost 3 years now. The Blacksmith is by far, the best restaurant here. Food is extraordinary, service is friendly and perfect and the ambiance feels upscale, but isn't over the top. our family had the BEST dinner out in 3 years. Thank you.

Wendy M.

Yelp
We went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. The service and food was excellent! The steaks were perfection. The staff was very kind. I highly recommend this place?

Brian O.

Yelp
Food is excellent, service is on point, and ambiance is upscale casual. We've been here a few different times in group settings as well as just a couple and had great experiences every time. This isn't my favorite steak restaurant in Bend but definitely on the list of one of the top steak options. If you haven't been here I'd highly recommend them as one of the top few steak style restaurants.

Cassandra M.

Yelp
The best martinis in bend! Try the Thai One On. Ivy is our favorite server and suggested it. I can only order that now when we go. We also loved the fried polenta croutons on their ceaser, the homemade green peppercorn Demi for the steak, and their homemade desserts. You can't go wrong!

Moni M.

Yelp
Loved this place! Fried green tomatoes with chicken salad, poke, salads were all amazing. Better yet was the service; our waitress Isabel was personable and went above and beyond. Super friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Joshua L.

Yelp
If you're willing to spend a little extra, this restaurant is a perfect place for special occasions or just for an amazing meal. The ambience is smooth and classy. Our server, Dawn, was incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to discussing the various menu items. Everything we had was amazing. The herb bread has a crunchy crust with a soft and warm inside. The aroma is amazing and incredibly enticing, so much so I could've eaten it all on its own; however it comes with an amazing balsamic and mustard dipping sauce. We started with their beef carpaccio; which again was amazing. Roasted capers offer an amazing salty acidity that is complemented with the richness of aioli. Texturally complex as well between the softness of the beef and arugula against the crunch of the toast. We were incredibly tempted by the tomahawk, and I think we will get this the next time we visit; but we ended up having 2 separate meals. My wife had the Northwest Ribeye, which was impressively large but was a little more fatty yet still incredibly soft. I had the surf and turf, with a beautiful filet that absolutely melted in my mouth. My only criticism was for the seafood. Although the shrimp was beautifully cooked and still retained its fresh bite to it. However I found the crab and scallops flavorful but lacking? I expected the scallops to be full scallops; however they were more like bay scallops. Similarly I expected it to be chunks of crabs; but it was shredded. My only note was that I had called several weeks earlier to have a surprise for my wife's birthday; however when we got there they had not done anything special like we had discussed.

Tran N.

Yelp
Date night with my partner. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I ordered the prime rib and was disappointed by the lack of seasoning. My partners ribeye was mainly fatty and the Mac and cheese also lacked seasoning. $170 to experience blandness was seems like typical Bend. I guess pepper would have been too spicy for some people here.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Food was amazing and staff was super attentive and engaging. Just one of our favorite special occasion places to dine.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Once again I have had an amazing experience here. Our waitress (I believe her name was Ivy) was extremely personable and attentive. She was happy to chat while keeping things professional. She made great suggestions and conversation. The steak and fries was delicious. The chimichurri was one of the best I've had. Everyone in my party was thrilled and satisfied. I also want to add that they may have had one of the best chocolate mousses that I have ever had. It was rich, chocolatey, and so so yummy. This restaurant holds a special place in my heart.

Kal C.

Yelp
Superrrrrrrb. Had a fancy dinner with vendors while here for a convention. The drinks were great, the food was top-notch, and the service was excellent. The vibe in the restaurant was romantic and broody. Those go together, right?

Sally S.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and ordered some tasty drinks. The two female bartenders working were not overly friendly. Food was good but overpriced. Better options.

Kat - Russ G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Highly recommend for date night or a special occasion. The location is great and the service was wonderful.

Donna S.

Yelp
Went to Blacksmith for the 1st time based on the interior photos and menu...but: - were sat in a side room next to the bathrooms [not actually in the "restaurant"]. - that would almost be tolerable but the Halibut cheeks special were overcooked and the Osso Buco I ordered [was plated beautifully] but must have been precooked and re-microwaved too long...dry and tasteless - only saving grace was a good bottle of wine and our server, Ivy, was very personable. Sadly, we will not be going back to waste another $300.

Stephen C H.

Yelp
We are locals. This restaurant was recommended to us by others as their favorite place. We liked the food and service and will return. It has the old school ambience and is a converted blacksmith building from days of old. A little pricey but not bad because everything is excellent. We will return.

Melissa B.

Yelp
First time here and while the food and service were amazing prepare to spend a grip enjoying it. We kind of fell in that thought of, "well, if we're going to do it, we might as well get what sounds good regardless of price". We had a tomahawk steak (92$) and filet (50$) and drinks. Food was tasty but left me underwhelmed for that price. Maybe I expected it to dance in my mouth, leave me never wanting anything else, ever for 100 bucks a plate. It's was, just, good. Ambiance is wonderful; can be fancy for an occasion or just a nice meal out. We saw both while there. Even a family with young kids! Seriously, what do you people do for work cause McDonald's was a night out when I was under 10!? The bar looks inviting and probably more our speed and might give that a try if we ever go back. During happy hour. With specials.

Robyn G.

Yelp
It's not too often that I give five stars. But I could find no fault here. Ambiance was lovely, waitstaff attentive, happy hour wine was good with generous pours! Hubs liked his old fashioned too. My steak made me moan out loud ( oops). I also ordered fried brussel sprouts which were more like fried brussel sprout leaves- so not quite what I was expecting, but delicious nonetheless. Will totally come back. Great spot for a fancy/romantic meal.

Anne C.

Yelp
I went here with two cousins after we went on a hike because we were on vacation in Oregon. We were under dressed, young, and just looked generally out of place. The wait staff never looked at us funny or made weird comments. The food was probably the best I've ever had in my life (I got the salmon and rice cooked medium) and my cousins also said the food was amazing. (They got a prime rib and a bacon wrapped filet, both cooked medium rare) It was overall a great experience and worth the money.

Deborah H.

Yelp
This is our no- longer-favorite special event restaurant. The menu has changed as have the prices! The decor has not been upgraded, and the drinks are overpriced. A few items are still tasty, especially the beef. But the built-in 'tip' on the invoice is disturbing. The service was not great, but we had to tip big for it anyway.

Lisa B.

Yelp
The best steelhead I have had in a long time! It was perfectly medium rare with crispy skin. The service was outstanding with a surprise amuse-bouche. Looking forward to coming back. Thank you!

Skylar C.

Yelp
Went last night for my birthday and everything was delicious! Started with the cheese plate and we loved the variety and freshness. Chef sent out complimentary amuse-bouche which was delicious and so kind! My boyfriend got the 32 ounce tomahawk and I had the pork chop. Everything was cooked exactly to our specifications and was so delicious, down to the sauce, sides, and seasonings. Our server was also so kind and knowledgeable. If you're looking for burnt meat go to Applebee's! Customer isn't always right and I'm living for the business owners response to some of these ill-meaning reviews. Everything was delicious and easily this was one of the top three meals I've ever had! Highly recommend and hats off to the owners and amazing staff here providing excellent service and food.

Julio A.

Yelp
I just recently move from LA and have eaten at 7 of the "top 10" steak houses during my time living there. This EASILY competes. My spouse and I shared a 35 ounce tomahawk steak, with fried Brussel sprouts with bacon, Mushrooms, potatoes and my personal favorite, the crab Mac and cheese. On top of the absolutely delicious food, the service was also immaculate. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Abby S.

Yelp
Hands down fabulous food. We stopped on a whim, and will be back. The waitress, the food, - we loved it all, kids enjoyed their food, the tables were beautifully treated & would have loved to have brought one home.

Angela M.

Yelp
Firstly, we came upon this GEM accidental like as we got lost! LOL! No reservations, they had a cancellation and worked us in and let's just say it was Kizmet!! I'm going to start with the two best parts of our visit first! 1. Kira, our beautiful and talented waitstaff was AMAZING! So attentive, fast yet completely able to explain the menu and answer our all our questions with great accuracy. 2. I'm a self proclaimed seafood snob (born and raised in SE Alaska)...Kira convinced me to try the halibut...hands down the best halibut I've EVER had. I asked her to relay my enthusiam to the Chef. Chef Haller (Jeremy), came out to our table to visit with us and just made our evening. We also had chicken marsala and the Kobe beef appetizer...PERFECTION this guy is amazing! If my family was still in Food & Beverage I'd steal these two to work for me! :-) 3. Loved the layout and the whole vibe of this place! The decor, lighting and seating it really was such a treat after a crappy drive from Portland. 4. Entire staff, Hostpersons, Bartender like everyone was friendly and FAST! When we left and I got a better look at how big the place was and realized a few of our drinks were delivered by the Bartender (we thought maybe they had a runner) I was even more impressed, the place was packed. We are going to be back in town next month and will be making our reservations this week to return to the Blacksmith. Don't think, just make your reservation, you will NOT be disappointed folks!

Shaun M.

Yelp
I'm pretty excited to write this review. We called a little last minute to make reservations here, probably around 4pm for a 8pm reservation on a Saturday night, so it was cool to be able to get in. They ended up calling us around 7 and saying we could come in anytime we wanted, which was even better. Our table was ready when we got there, and the service was excellent. The restaurant has a really nice "fancy restaurant" vibe and was very clean. All around, absolutely no complaints or knocks there...but...when you're charging $25 for a burger, the food better match the ambiance, etc. Well, it totally did. First off, the soup of the day was a salmon chowder, which was really good. The base was thinner than I anticipated, but the chowder had great flavor and they didn't skimp on the salmon. The meal I ordered, along with a few others in my group, was the Northwest Ribeye with a side of truffle fries. Just typing this out is making me drool. The steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and had a ton of flavor. It was amazing for the first bite to the last. The mushroom sauce they spread over the steak had so much flavor, I ended up using every last drop for my fries. The horseradish mashed potatoes were excellent, I couldn't have thought they would be so good. The truffle fries were solid, but I think I'd probably just go with the regular fries next time, especially considering that most of them ended up being dipped in that mushroom sauce. We ate a lot of good meals on this trip, but this is the one I'll remember, and we'll absolutely come back here when we return to Bend.

Karisa P.

Yelp
Food is good... portions should be bigger for what you pay. Never my "go to" place. I did get to watch the server set the curtains on fire when making bananas foster!! I remember that show more than the food!!

Kurt B.

Yelp
Awesome ambience in this historic building. The food was off the chain. If you love, surf and turf, I've got to say this is the best I've ever had in my entire life. The fillet was cooked to perfection; medium rare plus. The fresh baked herb bread and balsalmic oil that accompanied our meal was amazing. An amazing value! Highly recommended!

Nunya B.

Yelp
The waitress talked me into trying the ribeye steak which was almost $70, it turned out to be one of the worst steaks I've ever had. It was a 14oz but I'll bet only 4oz was meat and the rest was fat, I only got 2 good bites out of it. The table was so dark I could hardly see my food, the bathroom had no soap, the potatoes tasted like they were out of a box. Very disappointed with this restaurant!

Y A.

Yelp
Hit or miss. Four of us went there for my friends birthday. We both had steaks the filet mignon and the other two guys had chicken marsala and a pasta. Their meals were good. Ours were terrible. The steaks were dry and no flavor the broccolini they were super thick and we're not cooked through very hard. The potatoes were grainy, and the texture was odd.

Sara R.

Yelp
Fantastic: food Wonderful: service Amazing: tomahawk steak Fun: ambiance Crafty: cocktails, super spicy hot and heavy margarita. Hubby liked his Bend Sunset cocktail.
