We were staying at at the Camden Court hotel around the corner and The Bleeding Horse was recommended to us. We ordered the fish & chips with a few draft beers. It was enough for us to split (with the beers) and it was delish. The fish was a tad greasy but hey…..fish n chips, right? The fries were great and it was served with puréed peas which was cool!

Google
Great food and live music. Would recommend the mushroom aranchini! The loaded fries were good but worth noting they are very salty and a large portion, could probably share between 2 people.

Been here a few times already but always forgot to take pictures of the food. I always recommend The Bleeding Horse to people and friends visiting town because I really like it for both food and drinks. My girlfriend got the veggie burger which she said it was very tasty and I went for a nice caesar salad.

Google
Food was enjoyable. They had live music, but some songs were better than others. Since it was a seat yourself situation, it could be easy to be overlooked if you take a table tucked away in a corner. We were seated right at the front and had service very quickly.

Google
Magnificent place, my favourite pub in Ireland, watch the world go by in one of little nooks there, place is so ancient, it feels. Nice sitting inside and out, worth a visit. They serve food too.

Google
Cool little place, passed by on the bus and wanted to check it out based on the name alone. Server was friendly but we did feel forgotten about a few times, food overall was fairly good but the cauliflower bites were warm at best, they definitely weren't fresh (as in they seemed like they were made and then forgotten about under a heating lamp waiting to be expoed). Drinks were great and atmosphere was really cool.

Google
Good service, the team are well organised and efficient. Good selection of beverages. Friendly atmosphere for the rugby. Plenty of screens and places to sit. I would probably go back here next time I'm in Dublin

Google
A cool place but gets really crowded at the weekends despite being a large one. I like the big screens everywhere and the drinks display at the entrance - great! Not a cheap one I must say, but not the most expensive. Service seemed to be okay. The design of the pub is really nice! Well, it’s worth visiting ✌️

Yelp
Great place right around the corner from our hotel! The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The stew was delectable. Our waitress was VERY helpful and the place had a wonderful pub feel to it. Couldn't have asked for more for our first official Irish meal out!

Yelp
This pub is awesome, they play 90s music which was awesome, but the overall vibe of this place is super chill. We were greeted as soon as we went in by the bartender, to get our drinks out of the way and the sat so that we could eat. Super efficient, because it gave us time to look over the menu. They have your typical pub food, but their flavors are amazing. I would definitely suggest the Smoked cheese BBQ burger. Overall I love this place.

Yelp
I'm staying next door at a Camden Court Hotel for a work trip. On a Saturday night, tonight, when my colleagues were inside and told me to join for a drink, I walked up wearing the shirt from work, in the photo I'm listing. An employee was in front of the door and not moving, I asked if there was space inside, he looks me over and says "no there's not, have a good night". I don't want to assume why I was turned away, but I do know my colleagues mentioned it wasn't so full for a Dublin Pub that someone couldn't come in. This left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yelp
It has a history in Dublin. A landmark so to speak. Outside it's unassuming but the interior is wonderfully old, late 1800s, with multiple floors and multiple rooms. It's a live and boisterous atmosphere. Historic and a tourist destination. My recommendation is to go for a beer / whiskey and forget ordering food. Non of our dishes were anyway special, in fact mediocre. Go for beer or whiskey as two of our three cocktails were sub par. My Irish Manhattan made w Powers Rye was exciting to order and what I received was a watered down mess. The Whiskey Sour tasted very weird, as if made with a sour mix. The waiter brought out one persons meal and then we waited 15 minutes for the other orders. The waiter came around and asked us to pay up before any of us had close to finished which is just bizarre for anywhere else. So as for atmosphere I give it 4 stars, food 2stars and service 2 stars.

Yelp
I'm visiting Dublin and walked past this pub, looked interesting , so I went in, it has a long history has been around since the 1600's and had a nice dark wood interior. I ordered a glass of mine and my friend a Guinness, then we ordered food, I had the fish and chips and he had the roast beef sandwich. My fish and chips was good nothing special but not bad at all. My friends sandwich actually looked better than what I ordered and he said it was very good. The staff was attentive and it had a very fun atmosphere, this was at 4:30 pm on a Monday. I went back after Dinner on Tuesday night at 8, wow that place was hopping. Live music and it was very crowded but I managed to get a seat at the bar. I'll definitely go back

Yelp
This place was on our list from a travel blog for being one of the oldest bars in Dublin (1649?). It is a beautiful old pub with lots of beer options (we got a Guinness of course). They also have a large whiskey selection.

Yelp
Service was good , went during busy hour . Had to wait a little , but food and drinks were good and the waitress was working on the floor by herself. She did very well for one person.

Yelp
While the service was great here the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered a steak and Guinness pie and my husband had a burger. The pie was not at all what I expected, which could just be because I'm American. I was hoping for more of a traditional steak pie, rather than this one which just came with a bit of puff pastry sat on top. The mash had barely any flavor. Overall needed a bit of seasoning. My husband said his burger was wonderful.

Yelp
The food was okay, I got a club Sandwhich and the chicken was dry, my friend got the fish and chips and he said it was great. Our waitress was attentive but all other wait staff weren't that nice. My sister ordered fries and they forgot it until she was essentially done eating.

Yelp
Huge spacious typical irish pub, very nice to watch a game with good tap drinks and food..quick efficient service

Yelp
They don't normally do take out but my husband was sick in our hotel room next door. The people at The Bleeding Horse were so nice that they trusted me with real plates and silverware. When I returned with the plates and silverware the bouncer looked at me like I was crazy! Great food, great atmosphere!

Yelp
Great pub and a very nice clientele to mix with, chat with and have a few pints with. Excellent service and very friendly.

Yelp
Back in Dublin again and happy to stop in at one of my favorites (there are many) here in town: the Bleeding Horse. There's something for just about everyone here. First of all, great beverages (like any Pub in Ireland); nice atmosphere with high ceilings; music in the evenings and great food. Service is excellent. The Bleeding Horse runs some good daily specials on the food that are worth checking out and considering. I thoroughly enjoy their basic Irish Stew (see picture) and is favorite The lamb is lean...no fatty pieces; rich sauce that pairs well with the hearty brown bread. My colleague had the daily meat pie. It looked great (see pic). He liked it. I might try it, but will always be tempted by the Irish Stew.

Meabh D.

Yelp
They did let us in late, but no last orders called and when we tried to order at 11.08 they wouldn't let us. Pretty dry :(. If you're stuck it's grand but if you're looking for a good time go to elsewhere :).

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Took a long time to get our food orders in and when our entrees came out they weren't the best, but the wings were very good

Yelp
Had a new server ...I think it was his first day but great service!!! He was so nice and double checked to see if they had Tito's. He recommended the spaghetti bolognese and it's was really good! If you're looking for a great pub to relax in and enjoy a nice dinner pop in here!!

Yelp
What can I say, this is an establishment in its own right. A true pub in every sense, always a good crowed esp at the weekends. Its a great pub to start your night off in...
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious Guinness stew. Very cozy atmosphere in what feels like could be an old castle cellar. The place dates back to the 1640's. They have a kids menu and my 9 year old daughter had the chicken goujons and loved them. All in all a great experience for our first meal in Dublin.

Yelp
I have to admit I was very reluctant to check this place out. I even popped my head in once before actually committing to coming here and honestly was not impressed. This is your typical "drinks after work" place and it excels at this so much that it gets really really busy after work. First time I came here it was a Sunday evening and I snuck in a couple of drinks and downed a plate of wings to wind down a pretty hectic weekend - and I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. Contradicting everything I said above, best time I had here was with a friend after work, and when the place was actually pretty quiet. I got to finally take in the surroundings and the excellent selection of beer and whiskey - the company was fun too! So now I'm definitely a fan :)

Yelp
This is such a cool local pub, right next to the Camden Square hotel. We walked down, had some drinks and had some dinner as well. The food was very tasty, large portions and the staff was super friendly. Great atmosphere, with tons of TVs showing sports, aka SOCCER

Yelp
One of the best pubs in the Candem street area. That place is actually big and intricated - it means you can get lost on the way to the toilet haha It's perfect for big groups, as they have that big long tables. It is always crowded downstairs but the best and cozy tables are upstairs. Not exactly extensive selection of beers but they have Franciscan well red so I was fine. The kitchen is open until 10pm - smth I really appreciate. Chicken wings are good - but too small. The chicken burger is fair in size and comes with tons of chips.

Yelp
This review is specifically for the bar, not food. Although the bar was crowded, we were able to order drinks quickly at the bar. The music was spot on for the hour, and we easily had a great time in this lively scene. The bar should supply cocktail napkins at the bar for patrons to use. A bathroom attendant in both men's and women's restrooms would really help to keep things moving, stocked, and clean. Extra staff on busy nights would help keep cups and glasses moving from the tables to the kitchen. Looking at the mounds of dirty glasses on the bar tables was unsightly, unclean, and possibly hazardous. Despite those critiques, it is a gem. Cheers!

Yelp
The Bleeding Horse isn't a pub, it's a landmark. The place has been here since horses were the primary mode of transport, to the effect that nobody who's actually from Dublin knows the name of the street it's on. It's just the left turn at the Bleeding Horse. Expect lots of tourists, which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. Quality smoking area by the by, it's 'wet' proof.

Yelp
I had the questionable pleasure of being at The Bleeding Horse to witness Kerry slaughtering Dublin in last weekend's GAA quarter final. Not a pretty sight for all you Dubs out there (my commiserations). However I have to say I was impressed with how well the locals handled the loss... When I worked in a bar in England I used to have whole pints thrown at me if England lost an important match, but the lads here were a lot more restrained than all that. If the Dubs' performance ever stooped to an excruciating low (and that it did, several times), yer man in the Dubs jersey would simply take himself outside for a 'moment of calm'. Very civilised. Other than the GAA whitewash, The Bleeding Horse is mighty good craic for a pint or two or ten. It's a big hit with the tourists, with its Arthur Guinness 'pour-your-own-pint' tables and the large wall hanging of Arthur himself. There are lots of nooks and crannies in which to ensconce yourself with a pint of the black stuff, and by all reports, the bald bar tender here pours some of the best Guinness in Dublin.

Yelp
The Bleeding Horse is probably my local... I don't really have a local, but this is the bar I have consistently being going to over the last ten years that I've been living in the area. Its a grand place for a quiet drink during the week, before the DJ arrives. Even after that its enjoyable. On Fridays and Saturdays, later on in the night it fills up and the music volume goes up a notch. But its still pleasant and usually it doesn't get too jammers. The music was good tonight, standard mix of new pop music and old pop music. The service was fine and the drink on offer the usual bar / pub fare. It's a good place for sport too, with lots of TVs around the place. So if there are two big sporting events on, they'll be showing both. I've not tried the food in a long time, so cannot comment on it. But if memory serves me, I've told myself not to order food here again. But as I've said, I've not tried the food here in a long time. It serves its purpose and does it fine.

Yelp
Never pay attention to 1-Star ratings from reviewers with 1 review. That's my Yelp motto! This place was great! 2 Beef Stews, Trad Cottage Pie, a burger, and chicken sandwich were all enjoyed by our party. A pint of the good stuff and a couple mixed drinks rounded out the evening.

Yelp
I came here on two separate occasions during my visit to Dublin. Now that I think about it, I had my first and one of the last meals in Dublin here. The very first time I ordered traditional Irish stew and a fancy cocktail. The Bleeding Horse differs from most other pubs because it offers quite an extensive list of fancy cocktails which are relatively inexpensive (RELATIVELY). During my second visit I ordered Indian curry (yes I know, but it was the end of trip and I was homesick - no, I'm not Indian either). The curry was relatively spicy as I had anticipated but I do wish they'd give me more than one small piece of naan with my meal. This time around I also ordered a fancy cocktail, a different one (even had a slice of cucumber in the glass). Both instances I paid around 9 euro for each drink (compared to 12 euro and above at the Temple Bar). There are two floor levels to this pub but keep in mind that there is a reason why the upper level is empty -- it gets extremely hot and stuffy up there (this was a problem for me because I happened to be in Ireland during history-breaking hot temperatures). There is plenty of seating both outside, inside and upstairs so don't worry about securing the perfect nest! The meals were reasonably priced (cheaper than most other pubs) and were tasty. It is located in the middle of "nowhere" so to say, thus the competitive prices make sense. Overall, I had a good experience here and recommend you give this place a try yourself!

Yelp
The Guinness stew was the winner of the lunch break! We had the wings and the steak sandwich. Also an order of potato skins, and the bacon cheeseburger which my son inhaled so we couldn't judge on taste! The stew won hands down. Packed with flavor, the beef so tender and the stew so rich on taste everyone tried it and agreed it was delicious. Great selection of beers on tap and bottled.

Yelp
Usually here for an afternoon drink or for the start to my night out. I really got to know this pub with I was refurbishing the hotel behind it "The Camden Court". I like it. Plan and simple. Not pretentious and just does what it does best. Serve food and drink. Windows are usually painted up with what's going on at the moment ie Rugby Match, Soccer, GAA etc. which is a nice touch and always eye catching. Big bar and seating on multi-levels. Always somebody in it and bar staff very friendly. Smoking area outside but screened off from passers by and you'd happily spend your evening out there if the weather suited. Great pint of Guinness and the last time I was in they had "Pour your own Pint" stations set up around the main bar where Guinness has taps fitted to the centre of cocktail tables (the tall round tables you stand up beside). Not just Guinness but some of their other brand too, Carlsberg etc. Must try this out the next time I see them.

Yelp
This is one of my favorites! It's near the action but doesn't share the crowded mania of being directly part of the action. Still a good spot for weekends when clubs aren't the main option. With two floors and a few different rooms, there are plenty of places to sit. It's easy to find your own spot. A friend and I spent an hour or so on the balcony area above the main room and bar. While they don't have the widest variety of beer, they do offer fairly affordable mixed drinks and cocktails. The staff is patient and friendly. Music is not too bad either. Good for groups or to bring visitors who are tired of Temple Bar.

Yelp
I'm a strong fan of this pub. It's an historic pub. There was a brief name change, we won't mention that. Good spot in a good location and has some dark spots to chill in. There's typical good music and again is a great date bar! I'd recommend this pub as your ancestors have very likely drank in it. Again I would give 3.5 stars, but Emily doesn't allow that. Why not 4/5 stars. Crazy reason. They have removed most of upstairs It's now a barbers! You can have a pint as you get a haircut. Day time only, sorry! I think they couldn't fill it in the bust period, but they need to put the bar back upstairs as I had many good nights in it. The limited upstairs bar isn't big enough, so kick out the barbers and I'll update my review!!
google avatar

Ciara S.

Yelp
Well we surprised them by having a group of ten show up on a random Sunday! To be fair, we were guided to a table and then given great service. We ordered at the same time but they were cool enough to let us pay separately! Also, I got the full Irish and they let me sub out the pudding (I loathe pudding) so that's an automatic win!

Yelp
On vacation, staying at the hotel next door. Great bar for a beer and apps. Great service, Johnny is super!

Yelp
The BH was my go-to pub during my time in the Green Isle. Always friendly mates to find at the bar who are interested in Americans and never reveal whether they are mocking you with that dry Irish wit. Good drinks, good conversation, good pub. If you are in Dublin check out the B Horse and you will glad you climbed into the saddle!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
A solid 4/5 stars. Great atmosphere, "traditional feel," good menu and quality, great location, good customer service...good for tourists and locals. Some Yelp reviews bash this place and some rave about it. Do yourself a favor and try it for yourself.
google avatar

Yelp
The Bleeding Horse is on my route to and from home when I head into the city, and I've been intrigued by the name of the pub. Assuming the bartender knew the correct story, it's so named because this was the location where people would bring their horses to be "bled" the same way that people used to get that treatment medicinally. Luckily, I received much nicer attention when I was there on a Sunday night. Surely because of the day of the week, it was rather quite, but I was warmly welcomed by the barkeep, and I thoroughly enjoyed the old wood and general character of the place. I'll definitely return.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
His pub has a nice atmosphere, an outside smoking area, and a good typical selection of draught beers. We were in a small group of about 7 and the staff was very accommodating. The food was nice, perfect pub food, although the beer was a bit on the pricier side - €6 for a pint. Still, it's in a good location, it's rather quiet and wasn't too full (albeit it being a weekday)
google avatar

Sebastian F.

Yelp
I always have a good time here - actually as I'm writing this it reminds me to come here more often! What I like about the Bleeding Horse is that there's enough space to sit, chat, smoke, drink, make out etc. They have an upstairs and an outdoor area, so if it gets too steamy inside, there's no need to yell at each other or smell the tasty sweat of the drunken guy next to you. As my fellow Yelpers said before, this is also a pretty good sports bar with loads of TV screens. When I went inside for a pint the other night, the pub was crowded but almost silent, as everybody was staring at the screens. There was some rugby match going on, well, what do I know. Big plus for the bartenders who know how to do the Jäger Bomb without charging you for Red Bull and Wodka separately.

Zeo M.

Yelp
I went to this pub for the fist time yesterday for some food. My friend ordered the Dublin Coddle and I got the mushroom soup. We weren't too impressed to be honest, the coddle was lukewarm and way too salty and my soup was ok but I was very disappointed with the bread which was a bit bland. The waitress was really friendly though and overall it was a fun night but I wouldn't go back for the food.
google avatar

Maire B.

Yelp
would you believe I'd never been in the Bleeding Horse until last night? I think it was en vogue with my mates over 10 years ago, which coincided with me not living in Dublin. Anyway it was decided on as the place to meet some students I had shared an office with - a bit of a reunion. The Bleeding Horse lives up to its reputation as a really nice bar. There are lots of alcove and tables. There was quite attentive lounge service and food served until 9.30pm. We even had one of those tables with the beer taps on it, but none of us were adventurous enough to pull our own pints. The music was present but not intrusive, so it was a good place to meet for a chat, and yet it still had a busy enough atmosphere for mid-week. The only thing that bugged me was that I didn't understand why the locks on the toilet doors were so high up - what's that about. Now I didn't have trouble reaching them, but then I have friends who've had to ask me to reach things for them, so I can't help but think this might be problematic for littler girls - or maybe I'm just overthinking this!!
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Last night was the first time in ages that I went to this pub. I forgot how big it is. Excellent spot to watch the soccer - loads of TV screens. There also was a scattering of gas fires which really helped with the atmosphere and was so relaxing against the dark wood. The Guinness was fantastic as was the service, exceptionally friendly and down to earth. Where it was lacking was the fact that I was treated to a free porn show from a drunken couple - that is not the fault of the pub but the chart music playing on the speakers makes me think that it's popular with the young wans with their raging hormones! Ah I'm just jealous in truth ;)

Yelp
I love the bleeding horse, possibly because its one of the first places I went to in Dublin when I started coming over. Its a sports bar / local / trendy bar depending on what day of the week and what sports on at the time. If you want to watch GAA, football or even cricket ( you might have to request that one ) then they will put it on for you. Its quite a big place and later on at the weekends a DJ does start banging out the tunes, so if you are not after that you maybe disappointed. Even though its big it has a lot of different rooms and corners and an upstairs with more rooms and corners. So its quite quirky in its design as well. Never tried the food so wont comment. Never actually seen anyone eating there either! One last tip if you have visitors, you can book a table and pour your own Guinness from selective tables.
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
I only see tombstones in the eyes of the staff here... They're all anticipating the day when they're replaced by a kraft beer bar with homemade furniture, tattooed staff and a soundtrack of only Queens of the stone age, Arctic monkeys, black keys and Fleetwood Mac. Maaaayyybe stone roses too but I'm not sure if hipsters even sincerely like them anymore.. Do they?
google avatar

Steinunn J.

Yelp
Did you know that the smoking area has a TV? I didn't. Not until this weekend, and have to say that with this new discovery, Bleeding Horse scores big points in my books. Now I'll never have to miss a second of football action when I crave for a smoke. phewwwh! Don't know if I love or hate the pour your own pint idea. Guess I need to pour myself a couple to decide. Or not. The staff here actually pour the perfect pint, something that would take me to months of drunkness to master.
google avatar

Yelp
Worst fish and chips I've ever had in my life. Bangers and mash used instant potatoes. Chips were clearly frozen. Fish was tough and breaded within an inch of its life. This is a bar for drinking, not eating.
google avatar

Gigi L.

Yelp
I love the large space - loads of tables and nooks and crannies. It's a good neighborhood spot for a beer, to watch a game, or to listen to some music. It's not your standard pub by any means. It's a bar with decent chips I might add. I'm giving it a three as the only downside is it could use a good spring cleaning to get the damp scent out of the air. However, I'll meet for a pint there and especially enjoy the weeknights when it's quieter and less jammed. Cheers!

Yelp
I was in the area and waiting for my wife so popped into this very smart looking pub. Great atmosphere and range of beers. Had a coffee and soaked in the atmosphere!!

Yelp
One of Dublin's oldest pubs, its on every tourist map so do expect hoards of them. I was excited that they served Kilkenny (subsequently slagged by all my work mates for drinking it but no bother). Good ol pub atmosphere, there is a great room upstairs if you are looking to host a a party (just don't dance on the tables, learned the hard way with my colleague that will get you tossed. Also noted - decent cover smoking area! This place is a gem.

Yelp
all the different levels and niches this place has gives it a great identity; it provides all kinds of possibilities! Staff are friendly, and superb! In my eyes one of the better pubs in Dublin!
