Yelp
After dining here last weekend, I immediately understood two things: 1) the universal appeal of this place; and 2) why Yelp reviews urge people not to eat here, only drink.
We started with Bushwhackers while we waited for a table, since they are known for them. Around $15 each, but a generous size. You have to drink them pretty fast, though, before they turn into a puddle.
We were seated upstairs which was what we had hoped for. No AC anywhere but there's a slight breeze and everything is open air. We were seated on the street side, next to the restrooms, which was fun for people watching.
Service was great at both the bar and the table. They are very attentive as they are trying to turn tables over quickly.
We started with the spicy tuna stuffed avocado, which sounded much better than it looked or tasted. The main problem is that it was served at room temperature, which in a place with no AC was quite warm. There was a little mixed salad with it. Eating warm lettuce and warm tuna dip is beyond unappealing.
My husband got the mahi tacos, which he said were okay. He was really hungry so he ate them all. We also ordered a side of fries for $9. I got the chicken sandwich, $14, which was extremely overcooked and was topped with a weird brown glaze that appeared to be the same glaze on the mahi tacos. It was easily the worst chicken sandwich I have ever had. I did not finish it.
A side note- this place uses only plastic silverware. Which is already terrible enough for the environment, but then between the appetizer and our mains, they took away our plastic silverware and brought us new plastic silverware. All I could think about was how much plastic waste is happening at that place. I implore you, if anyone ever reads this, to please switch to actual silverware.
