The Blue and White Lodge

Great staff. Very friendly and efficient. We arrived early and our rooms were being prepared. We told the staff not to worry about vacuuming and her response was that she would not feel she had done her job properly if she left it. Impressive! ||Very comfy beds, heating /cooling and ceiling fans in good working order. Clean bathrooms. Older building but clean and comfortable. Value for your money.

Absolutely Appalling Do NOT stay here. This place is a health hazard disguised as accommodation. From the moment I walked in, I was hit with an overpowering smell of stale food that lingered in the air throughout my entire stay. The rooms are desperately outdated - we're talking decades overdue for renovation,worn carpets, the works. The mould situation was alarming. Visible in corners, around windows, and don't even get me started on the bathrooms - they looked like biolabs. I've seen cleaner public toilets. Grout black with mould, fixtures corroded, absolutely revolting. Insects everywhere. I'm not talking about the occasional fly - there were bugs crawling on walls, in the bathroom, near the bed. I barely slept worrying about what was sharing the room with me. For the price they charge, this is completely unacceptable. The place needs to be condemned, not rented out to unsuspecting guests. Save your money and your health - stay literally anywhere else. Avoid at all costs.

Second time we have stayed here. Michael, Irene and Mary are wonderful characters and hosts. Older style but clean and tidy suits us perfectly. We had hoped for another lovely breakfast but they can't currently get a cook. Walking distance to Dickson shops which also have a ridiculous number of restaurants to choose from. We had back room 7. Great value.

Had an overnight stay here recently on a trip through Canberra the lodge was well located, right near a tram stop, helpful service from a very kind family team of staff and wonderful value. Having my own little balcony space was a lovely unexpected bonus as well, I loved being able to sit out there as it wasn't too cold the weekend I went. Budget but really good value. Breakfast didn't personally hit the spot for my taste, but it was prepared with love and care & I definitely appreciated that. Would 100% stay again and recommend it, if you're passing through Canberra. Close to transport and local shops too, 15 mins ish by tram from city

We have stayed at The Blue and White Lodge several times now as our daughter lives in walking distance. Michael and Irene are lovely hosts. Michael cooks the best breakfast. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Be back next weekend. Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice place to stay at in the ACT

I have stayed many times at the Blue and White Lodge as it is also well located . The staff, Irene, Maria and Michael have taken a very personal approach to our needs. The room was spotless clean. Parking in this small area was a bit of a challenge but manageable, provided there are not too many other cars there. ||The breakfast was always a delight. Unfortunately they do not serve any lunch or dinner. But that is not a problem as Dickson is virtually close by in walking distance.||We will be back for sure.

My partner has harboured a desire to stay here since he was a boy living nearby. We were extremely happy, starting with the delightful lady at reception, right through to the absolute cleanliness of the unit and its location. We had a ground floor unit at the rear, which was perfect for us as we had our bikes on the car right outside our door. My pet hate in motels is the stained plastic kettle - no such horror here. We had a stainless steel kettle with pristine insides! We had a lovely stroll into Dickson for dinner, and spent a very peaceful night at this lovely Canberra landmark.

I am sure that most of the time a stay at the Blue and White Lodge is perfectly pleasant. The hosts are warm and obliging, the rooms while old-fashioned and over-heated are clean and comfortable and the hot breakfast is OK, Plus Dickson with all its eateries is a short walk away, wifi reception was good and the tariff is hard to beat. My first two nights of a three-night stay were just fine but on my last night the wind really came up and the high-pitched piercing noise it made as it whistled under the awnings above the upper-level balconies was ear-shattering - I'd liken it to being in (and trying to sleep in) a sawmill. I only got some sleep when the wind eased at 3.00 am. Personally, I won't be staying here again but for anyone else I would strongly advise against the upstairs rooms at the front - 1, 2 and (I think) 4.
