On the Grid : The Blue Cafe

"Off the beaten path adventures are always better than popular and famous destinations! The Blue Café is a quaint little restaurant, café and bakery that leaves you with a buzz as soon as you come through the door. The smells and sights in and around the small interior captivate the senses and drive you to try new and exciting things. Try an almond shortbread biscuit, fanciful coffees and teas, or go home with some homemade pea soup (they have literal tubs of the stuff and it smells amazing). The Blue Café is snug, as well as being snugly situated in an area surrounded by beautiful Cape Town Victorian architecture all under the magnificent shadow of Lions Head mountain. Honestly just give them a try, you won’t regret it!" - Yellow Door Collective

Rating this 5 stars for location and atmosphere. It is really nice and quiet (I’m used to busy city) which I enjoyed a lot. I had the burger and chips, chips were excellent and the burger was good, but not very tasty. Also had an Amsterdammer for dessert which I really enjoyed - if you like marzipan flavours you will enjoy it too. Service was good, very friendly, and food came quick because it was rather empty.

A great little café nestled in a neighborhood of impressive Victorian houses. The menu offers a variety of organic, healthy products. The staff is super friendly and service-oriented. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed. And they serve the best cappuccino in town.

Very accommodating. I was able to whatsapp my order through and pay on pick up. The babotie was absolutely delicious! They sell cheese, cold meals and much more.

Amazing atmosphere, service and food. Went with a friend to The Blue Cafe for breakfast. It was my first time. I immediately fell in love with the place. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and fully knowledgeable about the menu. Our order was delivered in a reasonable time and was so delicious. I want to go back before I leave Cape Town for home.

Just the best place here in Tamboers — lovely people, beautiful location, incredible food! A place we always return to which never ever disappoints.

A lovely local gem in the heart of Tamboerskloof. Such a lovely little spot. I’ve been here a few times and it’s always a good experience. The food is fresh, the latte is smooth, and the atmosphere is relaxed without trying too hard. Staff are friendly in a quiet, professional way. Just a solid little spot I genuinely enjoy coming back to.

I have been here twice across about 4 years. On both occasions we were handed menu, only to find out after a process of elimination, that pretty much non of it was available. What was available was a selection of pre made sandwiches, which were good, but not what I wanted to order. Maybe it's a locals place with it's unique quirks, if they have prepared what you want that day , it is good.

Roadside Cafe with fairy lights. Food well presented. We had the plant based options. 1x Babototi 1x falafel salad 1x spaghetti and vegetables. The falafel salad was the tastiest meal.
