On the Grid : The Blue Door

"Three floors of well curated vintage and modern collections, with new items added daily, this store is a visual delight. They source most of their modern wares from local Santa Barbara companies. This is a great place to come just to window shop or to find a gift for yourself or that friend that likes something a little more unique and off-beat." - Amanda Proudfit

“A fun and beautifully curated store filled with unique vintage furniture, decorative pieces, stylish clothing, and a thoughtfully chosen selection of new items. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Definitely worth a visit!”

Google
Definitely a boutique to stop by! We were travelling through California with my boyfriend and The Blue Door is one of a kind. The team is so nice and welcoming. Totally embodying the good vibes from Santa Barbara ❤️ They even helped me find remotely another beautiful colored scarf after I lost mine back in Paris. Right on time for Mother's Day! Thanks a lot again guys, take care.

Google
Wonderfully curated consignment shop full of treasures. The art, furniture and other goods on offer are generally higher-end and so can be pricey, but not outrageously so. Even if you don't want to buy, this is some great window shipping. Highly recommended.

I accidentally bumped over a small rock (obelisk) that was almost $100 and it broke. It was a bit close to the edge of the table and I agreed to pay for it anyways. I asked for a small discount or a reasonable exchange or something like store credit etc. but the manager insisted on the you break it you buy it policy. I was willing to spend more money at this interesting store, but the attitude of the manager and accusatory tone really turned me off to the entire experience. I paid without complaint and went on my way. Unfortunate experience for a store that I wanted to like.

Fun and eclectic building filled to the brim with antiques and Americana. Worth persuring if you are looking for that home accent or just interested to see a bit American culture and other whatnots.

Google
It’s a three-floor shop for antiques and some pretty accessories! Just located in downtown Santa Barbara, very convenient to visit. My friend and I found some interesting stuff here! And we surprised a lot! However, the environment here is cozy and clean! It’s a nice place for looking around relaxed!

Google
Super cute store with tons of unique finds! I bought an item that comes with an extra piece I didn’t pick up, and when I reached out they offered to ship it to me for free! Excellent service highly recommend!

Yelp
The Blue Door is truly a amazing gem in the Funk Zone, I can't understand how I drive and walk by this treasure chest so many times and did not notice it. This is a huge old wearhouse with three wooden floors filled with lot's of vintage, antique also collective Items from, vinyl records, antique furniture, artwork, lighting, dishes, jewelry, carpert, watches, dolls, toys, vases, shoes, clothing, purses, houseware, dressers, plus all type of nick-nacks, along with some old playboy magazines. The staff here Megan and Erica were very nice and friendly, so next time you're in the The Funk Zone area stop in here for a trip back down memory lane, also be careful going up the other floors because on the low ceiling.

Yelp
Items were a bit on the pricey side. But it was a nice collection & I ended up buying a beautiful, vintage, Santorini patio set. I had seen this same set in Portland, about 4 years ago but thought that was too long a distance to bring it home. So glad I found it again! With cushions too! I hear Oprah shops here! Stop by, you never know what you're gonna see!

Yelp
Definitely more of a high end boutique. It's cute, but more house ware relared. Not really a good place to hunt Antiques for cheap.

Yelp
1. 5 Stars for a great place to saunter in and enjoy an eclectic treasure hunt filled with unusual pieces, some vintage clothes/uniforms, classic pieces, unique new items, and antique turn of century items. 2. Abundance: 3 floors... with new pieces coming in regularly, 3. Some well priced items, though i find the antiques a bit pricey (this is relative though as depends how much you are searching for an item. If you find something you have been looking for, then great. If you love the piece great..get it as it can go if you delay). If you find a certain type of piece from a certain time period and are not in a rush, it may be worth looking online (and nearby) too to understand pricing & availability of said similar pieces. 4. Unique ideas for gifts too...so from big to small purchases.

Yelp
A total treasure of a store in the heart of the funk zone! This building is very nondescript from the front and if the "blue door" wasn't open, it'd be another place you'd just walk by. Totally feels like a speakeasy sort of spot. The Blue Door is so very carefully curated and feels more like a beautiful time capsule of a museum than a consignment shop. The merchandise appears to be hand-picked and is all of utmost quality. The building has three floors (the second floor has a low ceiling and wonderfully creaky wood flooring) with each displaying their own collection of treasures. The merchandise is largely mid century and offers something for even the most discerning of tastes. I came here the other day to redeem a gift card for my birthday and ended up purchasing a beautiful crystal decanter for my home bar. It's almost too nice to fill up with my whiskey, but still functional enough to serve its purpose. I picked up the gift card from the front cash register and found the ladies behind the counter to be friendly and polite. Very cool place to explore. I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
I bought a bronze shoe and a little pony express golden wagon for my vintage bookshelf accessories. There's a lot to look at, and most of it is rather thrilling if you love old things with history to their travels. The old books are severely overpriced. Not even notable authors usually and $48 just because it's old. Kind of not cool. Great spot after morning coffee to peruse for awhile and I always try to support small business.

Yelp
FELL IN LOVE IMMEDIATELY. As soon as I walked past it, I had to back track and go in. Curated vintage finds-- 3 floors of it! A mix of everything, and although it's different vendors, it all flows. It's a bit on the spendy side, but I dare you to try and not find something you want here. For me, it was an awesome shag sweater/coat--there were two of them, lucky for me, the first one I found was a tad less $$ than the second one, which made me feel like I HAD to get it. Be forewarned, you will not leave this place empty handed.
google avatar

Renee K.

Yelp
I LOVE all things vintage and the Blue Door did not disappoint! I love taking a trip down memory lane, along with pieces of history proudly displayed and even ready to purchase if I so choose. The staff was very kind and the store had many unique objects! Make sure to check out the full size wicker motorcycle next time you pass by! Guaranteed to make ya smile in awe and wonder how long THAT took to create!

Yelp
Okay WHAT A HIDDEN GEM this place is gorgeous and I could honestly have spent hours in there. Each section is curated by a different vendor, some of whom truly have an eye for art, furnishings, knick knacks, clothing, and dishes.

Yelp
What a fantastic gem of a shop located in the Funk Zone in Santa Barbara. A stones throw from amazing bars and restaurants. The Blue Door Features 3 levels of vintage furniture, art, lighting, accessories and vintage clothing too! The selection is very impressive and beautifully curated! What's especially comforting is their mask wearing and social distancing guidelines so you can shop with full confidence. And the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the products. I especially loved the Mid Century treasures mixed in with industrial. So many statement pieces you can't find just anywhere. Thanks for being open during this challenging time. And thanks for arranging shipping so effortlessly!
google avatar

Nijole T.

Yelp
This is such a great furniture consignment store! They have stuff from every decade and everything is in great condition! Prices are a bit high but considering that you won't find this stuff elsewhere it's well worth it. Hard to find originals, so many things I would furnish my home with if I lived closer. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Trish R.

Yelp
World of wonders! Fun eclectic mix of treasures here. Staff is easy going. Whenever I'm in the area I have to do a walk through!
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
It's all really nice to look at, but dang, it's all so expensive for what's used, repurposed and vintage stuff. Glad I'm under 6 feet tall on that second floor, and the third floor is worth rhe few more steps. Def not for the frail or elderly. Nice folks at the front counter.

Yelp
I bought a beautiful mid-century floor lamp from The Blue Door last week, but upon getting it home to northern California, found that it didn't work. I originally saw the lamp during a quick after-lunch browse with some work colleagues. I asked a salesperson if the lamp worked. I was told yes, and the salesperson offered to test it. When you're surrounded by colleagues who are ready to get back to the office, it isn't a convenient time to test a lamp, so I declined. When I returned to buy the lamp a couple of days later, the salesperson didn't offer to test it--something that I've since been told is store policy. And I didn't bother to ask, since I'd previously been told the lamp worked. Since last week, my wife and I have corresponded with the store a couple of times, and each time, they tried to shift the blame to me--insinuating, for example, that I didn't secure it in my car. (As it happens, the salesperson loaded it for me.) A simple, "Wow, we're sorry and we'll make sure we test every outgoing lamp from now on" would have earned them another star. But blaming a customer because a product is broken? Not cool. Advice to customers: Test anything electric before buying.

Yelp
I love the name of this new vintage store located in the Funk Zone, Santa Barbara. What is waiting for you behind that blue door? It could be a mystery. You can unlock it by opening the blue door and by checking the store out. It's a big (it takes up 3 floors) store, full of cool vintage, antique items, one of a kind. The place is clean, well organized, not the dusty, cluttered type. They do have cool paintings, furniture, lamps, so if you're looking for unique, interesting things for your house, this place is worth checking. Nothing is cheap here, but the condition of the items they sell is good and a lot of items are more unique. I enjoyed passing behind the Blue Door and discovering what's inside.

Yelp
The Blue Door is paradise for your eyes. So much to see and admire! Mostly everything was way out of my pocket range (for example, a small vintage le Creuset Dutch oven will set you back $150 and a vintage bowl like a salad bowl is $70) but that didn't stop me from oogling and dreaming of the day I can fill my home with these beautiful antiques. There are 3 floors to admire, but the first floor has the most amount of goodies and furniture. There are also unique jewelry finds if you're looking for to gift a friend or yourself. I think the Blue Door is a gathering of different vendors under one room which makes it especially fun to discover something new. This vintage shop is located in the Funk Zone and a must visit if you're in the area!

Yelp
Hi I've bee shopping the Blue Door for years and like the wide variety of styles and the good ratio of large items to small. It 's a good size and can breath with the large open doors a lot on natural light in the bottom floor. Upstairs 3rd floor is a large Danish modern section my favorite and it has vintage pieces in pristine condition. They art on the walls is a like being in a gallery and they always have a few conversational pieces you would never buy but enjoy seeing something different and unusual.

Yelp
I went to The Blue Door for the first time a few weeks ago. It's a really beautifully curated shop, with a wide range of small and big items, accordingly with some being on the expensive end (rightfully so for large, classic furniture pieces) but also a lot of very reasonably priced smaller items. I got a set of 4 vintage green tinted glasses for $30, and it was a hard choice among a lot of other beautiful glass sets with similar pricing. Later I ended up calling and buying a vintage sauce pot that we had seen. Spenser was so sweet and helpful with emailing me pictures to make sure it was the right one, and shipping it to me. Packaging was solid and it arrived in solid shape! Definitely a cute shop to at least pop into and look around!

Yelp
Very cool place! Literally has a gaint blue door. The building is three stories. Prices are a bit steep but have some unique items. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Located right off state street would definitely recommend. Walking thru and checking it out!

Yelp
Just came in today, bought a ceramic pot and had the best experience with Carly! Would definitely recommend buying your home decor here.

Yelp
clothes are old and a dress I got there ripped. called the place and they said they wouldn't do a refund. very cheap and over priced.

Yelp
We were looking for a Buffet to put it in our living room. We like much vintage and mid century furniture style. And found this amazing buffet at the blue door. The only place at SB for these offer. You feel like to be in an antic store such as "Les puces" of Paris. The owners are very nice and professional. Delivery on time and fast. Highly recommended ! Pierre and Nelly

Yelp
Cute vintage shop with okay customer service. Upon walking in your eyes are overwhelmed by the amount of options, funky items and vintage selection. There is 3 stories of hidden gems- something for everyone! Be sure to go with plenty of time to look at everything.

Yelp
I love this antique store. I make it a point to visit every time I come to Santa Barbara. Amazing selection and great place to wonder and discover.
google avatar

Koszeghy A.

Yelp
The best vintage store in Santa Barbara. A fantastic selection with reasonable prices. Pay no attention tho those reviews from Yelpers that think this is shop is expensive. They're just mad they can't afford nice stuff...
google avatar

Yelp
This place is LEGIT!!!! So many cool treasures - unique and in great condition! I wish we had a place like this in Arizona!
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
Stars are for the store itself and the people that work there. 4 instead of 5 because the prices are high for some things. That being said, I still highly recommend this cool shop. It is very well set up and easy to navigate/browse. More often than not, I find something I want when I go here. Unique items of all kinds from various eras (including some new things from local artists).
google avatar

Yelp
On a walk through the Funk Zone I couldn't help but take a peek inside. This place is filled with some very neat antiques. They have bowls and cookware, vintage clothing, furniture, art, picture frames, housewares, jewelry, etc. Make sure to check out the whole place because there is more than one floor. This is definitely a well-curated antique store. Don't expect shelves overflowing with trinkets, bargain finds, items you can buy cheap and bring back to life, or racks of vintage clothing to sort through before you find a gem. They already did the work finding the good stuff for you, so to me this shop is more a place to browse and find a unique item in great condition. Note for pet owners: I was here with a group and our dog, and while we didn't try to go inside with our pet they didn't mention anything like "come on in!" so I think given the breakable nature of lots of their items dogs may not be allowed.

Yelp
Really cute vintage shop with everything from jewelry to furniture to whiskey decanters. The space and placement of everything was obviously well-thought out. Check in and get a free Hershey's kiss and a pen. Very random, but thoughtful :)

Yelp
Super clean and amazing service!! It is filled with unique treasures and amazing unique finds. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in antiques and collector items!! The staff were so kind and helpful!!

Yelp
An absolute GEM in Santa Barbara. I love the way it's decorated and the owners are REALLY nice. They are almost always there, very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing three stories, each with a totally different vibe. They must be really picky because I've been some other collectives recently and none even compare. Their prices are a little up there, but because the items are hard to find, rare, or just plain coo sol they can ask more. Every time I go in there are lots of shoppers making purchases so they aren't asking outrageous prices or anything like that. I've seen things that were way under priced for what they were. Speaking as an antique dealer and an owner of an antique shop this place really owns the central coast as far as cool shops.

Yelp
I visited this store a few weeks ago. When I decided to purchase something from this store, I was not sure if I have time to drive back there. I called the store and asked several questions. Sara was so friendly and professional. She gave me the all answers with the best way. The price is very reasonable. I definitely go back to visit this store whenever I have a chance to go to Santa Barabara.

Caroline B.

Yelp
Eclectic mix with wide range of goodies and pricing. Local candles and little gifts too. Assortment of items changes often. Especially nice because Brian and Carly were so gracious. Can't wait to stop in again!

Yelp
Antique places seem to come and go, so I hope this one stays for a long time. Very well laid out, mostly in the semi modernist vibe...but with some older/exotics as well. Good price points, we came to get Christmas presents and found several perfect items. Three floors (bottom one's the best, but the second is quite good also), parking in the back - the neighborhood's quite popular, so you could do wine tasting afterwards.
google avatar

Lara C.

Yelp
The Blue Door is a treat for the eyes. Wandered in here on a Sunday and had fun exploring each of the three levels, meandering through each corner that was packed with treasures. The owners obviously know their stuff and have found some one of a kind pieces. The space right now has a large selection of interesting lamps and pendant lights and beautiful rugs. Thanks for creating a space that is a delight to peruse.

Lou F.

Yelp
The lady and I love coming to this amazing vintage wonderland. The ground level is amazing and then you go up to the 2nd and 3rd level and it's just filled With more greatness. Best store in Santa Barbara hands down. What's nice as well is the fact that it's close to wine and beer bars, get a little buzzed and stroll around this cool and beautifully curated shop.
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Such a great shop! 3 levels, and very well curated with great prices. I found some wonderful treasures here and would have bought more if I didn't have to worry about bringing it home on the train.

Allison S.

Yelp
This splendid shop with beautiful mid-century treasures is a must visit! Pricing is fair, service is excellent and the pieces they are are beautiful! We found an amazing piece of art we adore.

Kelly T.

Yelp
Just got an amazing original painting from this store, and I'm beyond excited! This store is the real deal: incredible antique and vintage pieces that look amazing in any modern home. I really loved so many pieces here, from furniture and old books to paintings and cool vintage CA flags! The ladies at the front were so incredibly helpful, negotiated a great deal for me and were super kind to wrap up the painting perfectly for transport. I wish I could get everything in this store!

Lauren B.

Yelp
3 stars because it is a interesting store! Lots to look at and some of it is really nice. But I rarely buy anything because their prices are so high! That is why I can't give it 5 star review. Maybe the rent is so high there? I probably will just quit going since I really just look. Parking is tough too.
google avatar

Kyle R.

Yelp
super over-priced. it claims to be three levels, but the 2nd and 3rd levels are rather small. we were in and out rather quick, seeing not a thing worth the high prices presented. i may be spoiled having shopped many similar shops in Portland, but if this is all Santa Barbara has to offer...pretty pretty sad.

Steve And Laurie C.

Yelp
It's always a treat to visit this store. It's like an Aladdin's cave - full of all sorts of cool stuff! I love antiques and vintage bric-a-brac, so this is my kinda store. Every time I go in there I find something I want. Compared to other similar stores, I don't find the prices too expensive, even though it is located in Santa Barbara!

Michele M.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about what a beautiful experience that this store offers which does not even compare to the owners! Upon entering the store you are immediately welcomed! There is no pressure and you are encouraged to browse and explore. It is like a gallery/vintage store/furniture store/boutique all in one, with impeccable service. Carolyn and Brian are the most hospitable, accommodating and knowledgeable team I have found. They are dedicated to service excellence and enhancing the client/customer experience. The selection changes daily and offers treasures that you will not find elsewhere. It is a must see destination in Santa Barbara.

Tommy H.

Yelp
Came here purely by chance and found an awesome inventory of interesting goods. Excellent place to find gifts for that friend that likes something more unique and functional. Apparently you can also order by phone. The staff was friendly and helpful, not to mention vey familiar with the goods available. Highly recommend a visit.

M J.

Yelp
Adorable addition to the Funk Zone! I've gotten a perfectly fitting dress, a few pieces of furniture, as well as jewelry- all reasonably priced and unique. Multi-leveled, so be sure to check it all out. I'll go here when I have 10-30 minutes to spare and always find a treasure!

vaishnavi s.

Yelp
This store is great! It has really amazing vintage items which are all beautifully curated. It's definitely worth a visit. I know one reviewer said they didn't let dogs in but we went with our two dogs and they were wonderful and friendly. Its a store I will visit every time I am in town.
