The Blue Onion

I go to blue onion frequently but lately their to go orders are horrible. Ordered the trio sampler appetizer with roasted red pepper hummus and two artichoke dips, got red hummus soup with no hummus. Ordered the roasted veggie flatbread wrap with feta cheese, no feta cheese and my flat bread had a hole in it making it harder to enjoy. Really disappointed but didn’t have the drive to take it back.

Wow what a great place to have dinner. The blue onion is definitely worth the drive. I came here purposely to have the pizza and was surprised at the quality of food and service at the blue onion. I had the beef and chicken fajita pizzas with glue onions and cilantro. I must say the included tips of guacamole and housemaid habanero salsa was amazing you don't want to miss this dining opportunity. Great location located right on the corner with ample parking around the building. I found this restaurant was clean including the restrooms. I was greeted with a friendly smile conceited immediately. Extensive drink selection and great menu here. Admiring the great art on the wall throughout the building I was relaxed in this welcoming atmosphere here. I noticed the owner and staff take great pride in making sure people are happy with service and their food. I must say the food was definitely created with the best ingredients hot and fresh. The creativity and passion is apparent at the blue onion. I must give a huge thank you to all the staff and the owner at the blue onion for making this a five-star dining experience. I would highly recommend you bring your family here.

8/10! were seated immediately on a Tuesday @ 7pm, the bar had a few customers but the dining side was pretty empty. ordered 2 artichoke dips ($11 each) one with cauliflower bread & the other with the regular flatbread, which we LOVE! tried to do the soup of the day but they ran out. ordered 2 lunch specials & they still honored it! ordered the black bean soup (offered every day) with a mini Lots of Meat calzone with ranch on the side, another black bean soup with a mini pepperoni calzone, and a regular Lots of Meat calzone. all meals were good, the only cons were the cauliflower bread being super toasted on the ends/had burnt taste & the overall price of the artichoke dip for a small cup of it. Total price: $40 for 1 artichoke dip & 2 lunch specials + a lemonade & water

Yummy pizza and artichoke dip. The cucumber side was so good!! I got the San Franciscan without sausage and added jalapeños. The service was so great, they delivered it to my hotel room. I definitely recommend!

Beef fajita salad was very good for the price. I recommend the dip sampler, especially with the goat cheese and roasted red pepper dip. Gyro was on point and pairs well with garlic hummus dip. Wait staff was super friendly and quick.

Very good, wholesome food - don't let the outside deter you. The inside is brightly colored walls and interesting art on the walls. Our party really enjoyed lunch here

The Blue Onion was within walking from the hotel I was staying in, so why not give it a try! I ordered the pepperoni calzone and added jalapeño and grilled (blue) onions. If I go again, I probably will order differently. Not that the calzone was bad, it was just ok and not very filling. Like I said, I'm sure there is something else I need to try next time.

Four stars. Great value. Tons of keto options. Definitely an option when visiting Weslaco. Closest to a good Greek salad in the area

The pizza was super good!! The drinks were amazing also! Only critique is to get rid of the pulp in the cucumber martini. This is my first time here and I'm definitely coming back tho.

One of my favorite restaurants. Love all of their food! Especially their appetizers and all of the dips. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Great atmosphere. Great drinks.

Everything I've tried here has been really good. My favorite is the grilled chicken salad. You get a nice salad and a good sized portion tasty of chicken. The flat bread is the best I've ever had. Pair it with a triple selection of dips and you will be very pleased and full. The service here is better than I've had at high end restaurants. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. I don't live in the area but The Blue Onion is a regular stop when I'm in town.

We were so disappointed to find out we had smeared avocado and few onions in our Fajita Al Pastor order to go. It's tough to support local business when things like this happen.

We love it here. One of our favorite places in the Valley. The appetizers are superb. We love the goat cheese, hummus, and baba ghanoush with pita wedges. We love the wraps too. The Colorado is my fave. I also like the turkey wrap. I usually take pictures of the food where we eat, but the food is so great we dig in immediately! We have limited options for Mediterranean food in the Valley, so it is really great to have a restaurant that does it well!

Went here on a whim when a friend raved about the hummus dip and was looking for something good. The hummus trio dip lived up to expectations. Surprisingly, the best I've ever had. The calzone however was below average. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant had great paintings and decor inside. Some were for sale, and I would have bought some but they were overpriced.

This was a great find. The craft beer was very good, a Mexican lager. Despite the bartender being a Jayhawks fan (LOL) ....She makes an excellent virgin margarita, which is not easy to do! When she noticed we were watching the game she turned on the sound for us... which we appreciated. The pizza was delicious and the shrimp in the shrimp and feta salad was cooked perfectly. Try the onion salad dressing, we loved it.

I went to the one in McAllen. The food was great. I especially like the eggplant and artichoke spreads, and of course the bread! Our waitress was young and could have been rude, but I saw when she decided to be nice. She chose to ignore the naive person I was with and just focused on those of us who knew what we wanted. The place was cute and not overcrowded, as far as not being cluttered. I really enjoyed it! We couldn't eat meat at the time so this place was great!

The food was horrible, the service person knew nothing about their products and the drinks were undrinkable. NEVER AGAIN. It used to be an excellent stop on my birding tours, no more. Sad that a place can go down like that.

Loved the house salad here. The dressing was so good and homemade. Luckily we got there before the lunch rush. It's a very popular place.

This place was good. I got the dip with three choices got hummus, roasted red peppers hummus and the shrimp one. It was really good. The pita they serve with it is really soft and everything has good flavor. I also got a chicken salad which was good.

From their pita bread, to their trio dips to daily meal in a bowls the blue onion is Always consistent. always fresh and delicious! This has been my favorite spot in Weslaco. Try their salads and their gyro they never disappoint!

One of my favorite small businesses. Food is always on point! Grilled Veggie and Feta salad is my favorite. Their pizza is my second favorite.

It was horrible the food was bad and there was a toe in my food and the waitress was trying to bounce that ass on my food and she wanted to hit on me and I was like hell naw and there was poop one the other walls and a hair on my food

The Blue Onion has always been a nice, chill place to dress down while enjoying some amazing food. The wait staff are decent and the owners jump in to help while conversing with their customers. Great ambiance, a decent, not too complicated menu unlike some mediocre restaurants that try to impress with grandiose verbiage while serving horrible food. Don't expect Michelin star level service here, but for the price point this is an excellent place to dine and leave satisfied with great tasting food.

Okay wow, this place is amazing! I was a little skeptical when I heard about it, but I am in love. This is another one of those gems in the valley that serves moderately to very healthy food. I went for a weekend lunch with a friend and got the hummus appetizer and a mushroom and garlic salad. Although the service was a little slow (I think because we went around 2-3PM), I'm giving them a high rating for the food. 1. The hummus: we got the roasted bell pepper and the garlic hummus. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this may be the best hummus I have ever had. I have no idea why a non-Mediterranean restaurant would make such good hummus, but there it is. It's delicious and refreshing and just so good. And it is paired with the most amazing flatbread/pita to dip with. I could eat that bread everyday for the rest of my life. 2. Mushroom and garlic salad: Honestly, by the time my main meal came out I was really full. But I did really love this dish! I am a huge fan of mushrooms, and I think they did such a good job of making these mushrooms flavorful and delicious. The salad was light and refreshing while being very filling. Tl;dr: get the hummus!

The Blue Onion is my fallback suggestion every time I eat lunch with someone new. To my surprise, they've often never heard of it, but unsurprisingly they always enjoy it. Great service, great food, and cold beer. What's not to love? Try ordering the dip sampler, the pecan smoked fajita wrap, or one of their pizzas. You won't be disappointed.

This place was really promising, but unfortunately I had a pretty bad experience with them. I went over my lunch break, hoping that 40 minutes was enough time to place a to-go order and get it. It was a salad so nothing super crazy. I walked in, placed my order with the host, and sat down by the door to wait. After about 25 minutes, another guy comes out from the kitchen and asked if I was waiting on an order, whether it was to go, if I ordered over the phone or online, etc. I told him I ordered with the host and he rolled his eyes and went back to the kitchen. Shortly after the kitchen brought out my salad, I paid, and left. The guy apologized for the wait and said the host was just a little incompetent. Okay?? The salad was just ok. They were obviously in a rush and forgot the flatbread, which I was excited for. The salad was made with fresh ingredients but I hope they put a little bit more care into the dine-in orders. Mine had a whole green onion and one single slice of pepper. Seemed weird, but they were obviously in a rush so I get it. Maybe you'll have a better experience dining in than I did with takeout!

We took a chance and came based on Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. They had a great selection of beers and my Gyro and my wife's "Shroom flatbread" were wonderful. The side coleslaw and potato salad were clean and fresh. We will be back!

Awesome food and the place has such a "chill vibe". My husband loves their beer selection--if you're into craft beers. My Recommendations: Flatbread with artichoke dip Salads Pizzas Flatbread Wraps-(my fave: shrimp pesto) Sides:Cucumbers Macaroni Must try!

Love these small restaurant in these small towns- it's great ! Food was amazing! On top of that the bathroom was super clean. Not joking. The sandwiches were very tasty. The portion were good sized. Lots of choices and wide variety and nice and quiet in here. Nice seasoned food.

Food and service were great. Had the lunch special, 1/2 garlic Po Boy with salad and 1/2 Gyro with salad. Po Boy may be the best I've ever had. Salad large and not your run of the meal dinner salad. Was told the Gyro was one of the best she has had. Owner should know we've passed by this place for 8 years and didn't realize it was even here. They need a flashier sign.

Huge Craft Beer selection. Great food most of it is made in house or locally. (I.e. Breads, dressing, beer, etc.) Made me feel like I was back in Austin.

Whenever I am in town I visit this place because of the good customer service, great food, ambient atmosphere, and the beer! This bar is unlike anything you find back in California which makes it standout. Every time I've come here I've ordered different things and everything is amazing and well portioned. I am not from this part of Texas and I was not aware of how early it closed but beside this, I think this place is exceptional. The people here are great/easy to talk too. I definitely recommend this place!!

Of all the thousands of restaurants in the Valley, the Blue Onion is a standout. They specialize in flatbreads: pizza, sandwiches and wraps. It's not typical of the Valley where Tex/Mex prevails in abundance. Here, You can get a wide variety, including Mexican food. I stopped in for lunch and had the roast Turkey wrap and I thought it was pretty tasty. The gyro wrap looked delicious. There's also a wide and creative offering of salads.

Delicious food at great prices. Had the flat bread w artichoke dip as an app. Calzone, flatbread sandwiches, and pizza are delicious. Owner is a great guy. Service was great! Will be back!

Not a fan...except for the ritas. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express next door and I did not want to drive for dinner. The hotel desk clerk recommended this place, and so we went. Food was bad. Really bad. Had the nachos El Pastor...bad. The menu very basic and I had the El Pastor Calzone. Bad. To many cold sautéed onions. The salsa that was served with it. Yuck. My business associate order a medium peperoni pizza, and he described it as CiCi's quality. Not good. Our server was so in our face from the beginning, that I had to tell him to settle down. They also did not have pickled jalapeños. Really? If not for the $5.00 ritas, easy 1 star. Next night I did not want to drive for dinner. Choice: Burger King or the Blue Onion. The Whopper won!

My wife and I had a list of places we wanted eat at in the Valley and The Blue Onion was at the top of the list. We ate there yesterday at lunch and it was as good as we remembered. She had the fajita salad (which was huge!) and I had the pork tenderloin poor boy with my favorite side, black bean salad. I can't wait to go back and try the fajita poor boy. Other reviewers have mentioned it too but they have some very unusual art for sale in the bar. Check it out.

The food is always delish! Customer service has always been great for us! I recommend any salad or calzone. Their cucumber dressing is to die for. Their gyros are also fantastic.

This is my go-to place when I'm in town for a work trip. I love trying the locally brewed beers they always have rotating on tap paired with a pizza. I've had the Blue Onion and classic and both were fantastic. One pizza is plenty for one person.
