I have stayed in the Boat House B&B in Laugharne a few times when I attend the Laugharne Festival and I have already reserved the splendid Purple Room for my next visit. Jane and Keith are excellent hosts and serve up a great Welsh breakfast (we vegetarians are well catered for!) . The Purple Room is spacious with a very comfortable bed. I really appreciate the little extras Jane provides in the bathroom too. The house is well positioned very near the castle and the sea - which adds a sense of adventure when staying there during very high tides.

What an amazing stay we have had at the boathouse inn! Spotlessly clean and well aired room with amazing amenities available. Nothing was too much to ask! |Jane and Keith are splendid hosts and made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. The beds (twin room) were super comfortable, needless to say I had an amazing sleep. Feeling refreshed in the morning we then had breakfast, what a feast! Cereals, fresh juice, watermelon and a full english breakfast with a lovely pot of tea and a few rounds of toast with butter and marmalade. All in all a fabulous stay of which we will definitely be booking to stay again soon.|Thanks Jane and Keith, see you soon! Charlotte.

We have recently returned from a full week stay at this welcoming guest house. Our room was on the first floor (blue room) and was perfect for us. Plenty of space and two easy chairs as well as a good sized modern bathroom. Hosts Jane and Keith were always helpful but not intrusive. Fresh milk was available for tea/coffee trays in the bedrooms and guests helped themselves to this from a small fridge in the breakfast room. An excellent arrangement. Bath towels were large, thick and fluffy which is not always the case in a B&B. Hot breakfast items were cooked to order each morning and eggs could be boiled, poached or fried. A flexibility to suit the guests' preference which again is not always available. All in all a very pleasant experience which we considered good value. Would we stay there again? Definitely.

Wow! The Boat House was the best B&B I have ever stayed in within the UK. The hosts are friendly, warm and kind, and the rooms are simply stunning. ||If you enjoy a quiet, pleasant stay, this is the place to stay! We were even surprised with beautiful fresh melon before our beautifully cooked full English breakfast, orange juice and tea. ||We had a fabulous stay and are already planning to come back next summer!

I have stayed at the Boathouse in both 2024 and 2025 staying in the Scarlet Room and would always chose it as my prefered accomodation in Laugharne. The Boathouse is a centrally located, charming old building, tastefully decorated with a relaxed welcoming ambience. The double room is very comfortable and generously supplied with tea and (real) coffee. The owners are charming and friendly, the breakfast excellent, and there is on site parking (important in the centre of Laugharne). I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Location was central and close to restaurants, pubs, beach and castle. Plentiful parking nearby. Our room had a large comfortable bed and a good sized shower en-suite. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Jane and Keith were great hosts, welcoming and helpful. We had a delicious breakfast freshly cooked to order. Would highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you plan a visit to Laugharne.

We stayed at The Boathouse for 3 nights last week. We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. We have stayed in Laugharne before but would definitely stay here again on our next visit.|You couldn't wish for better hosts in Keith and Jane. The room was perfect for us. Very comfortable, good nights sleep.|Location perfect for the castle and walks, the local pubs and the Dylan Resort Restaurant , where we ate in the evening.|All in all a great stay. Thanks again.|Nick and Kathryn Jones

Think twice before booking The Boat House — especially if you care about your health or how you’re treated as a guest.||||Before you decide, take a moment to read how the hosts respond to 1, 2 and 3-star reviews on TripAdvisor. Their replies are shockingly rude, dismissive and at times personally demeaning. Sadly, this behaviour matches exactly what we experienced during our stay.||||Here’s what happened…||||The moment we arrived, we smelled damp and found the air quality in the Purple and Scarlet rooms to be genuinely concerning. Both rooms had a strong smell of damp and felt poorly ventilated to the point we questioned whether it was safe to sleep in them.||||We raised the damp issue by email and received no response. When we brought it up in person, the hosts were defensive and dismissive, saying we should “be grateful that the Scarlet and Purple rooms have any kind of ventilation at all” and that we should have “requested rooms with windows that open” — a baffling and gaslighting response when the core issue was damp and stagnant air, not window preferences.||||We seriously worried about the impact on our health and asked to be moved to a different room because of it.||||There were other issues too:|| • The road noise is frequent and intrusive in all rooms.|| • The breakfast was extremely poor value for the £120–£140 per night rate: basic, meagre, low-quality ingredients, and truly terrible coffee.|| • The shower door in the Scarlet room was broken.||||The hosts’ behaviour was odd and off-putting — one overbearing and trying too hard to be attentive, so it felt over the top and like an act — the other entirely avoidant, not even saying goodbye as we left. There’s a tense, passive-aggressive energy to the place that made us feel unwelcome and on edge.||||Reading through their responses to negative reviews on TripAdvisor says it all: they are consistently defensive, mean-spirited, and personally insulting. We expect a similar reply to this review, but they only damage their own reputation by responding that way.||||We would never return. If you’re looking for a similar price point but something far more professional, welcoming, and enjoyable, check out Brown’s — the meal we had there was exceptional, and the atmosphere couldn’t have been more different.||||Avoid The Boat House at all costs — especially the Purple and Scarlet rooms. Your health and peace of mind are worth far more.
