Lunch Tuesday 11.2.25. I love fish and chips, and I’ve never eaten better. Huge portion, crispy light batter, so tasty, perfectly cooked fish, and lovely chips. Amazing value, great staff too, attentive without being overbearing. Cant wait to go again. X

Great cider on tap. Food was very hit and miss. Service was ok, but we had to go and find someone to take our order as they forgot about us once we had been seated. However, staff were very friendly. Most of the items on the menu were unavailable to order at the time, so there was very limited choice. Creamy garlic mushrooms were supposed to be sprinkled with Stilton. The dish lacked attention to detail, there was no garlic or Stilton but a whole bush of thyme left in the bottom. Left feeling a bit disappointed with the food.

Took daughter for a meal at a treat on 20th. Good parts: service was fast and attentive. Young lady who served us.( only been there a short time) was exceptional. Daughters fish and chips was good and she enjoyed it. Opportunity: my mixed grill was OK. Steak was lovely but other meats Inc sausage was way overlooked. Chips were just bland and dry. We ate down in lower bar. It was too cold to be comfortable. For 2 drinks and 2 meals for £55, I did expect better. For a mixed grill, I expected a quality sausage (maybe 2?) gammon and pork not to be over cooked and a juicy grilled tomato. Sorry to go against the general good reviews you get. Maybe an off day. In reply...we were table checked and the waitress was very good and professional. However, it wasn't bad enough to return just not up to what I expected. We will be back.

We booked weeks in advance, but we had to wait 20 minutes for our table. The Sunday roast was missing key elements—no roast potatoes, carrots, or parsnips. When we asked, we were given just 3 boiled potatoes, 1 carrot, and 1 parsnip each. They had also run out of cauliflower cheese and no substitute was offered. The vegetable portions were ridiculous—one tiny tray for five people, and only after complaining did we get another small tray. The service was poor, with no real effort to make up for the issues. I’m sure they could do a great roast, but based on this experience, they don’t seem to care. Wouldn’t recommend.

Went there last night for a meal. The atmosphere was brilliant, the food was incredible and the staff were all very friendly and the service was brilliant. It was our first time visiting, but now that we live pretty close we will definitely be going back.

Absolutely stunning location right next to the river. Lovely service from (some) staff, who were very attentive, engaged and a credit to the establishment. We came in especially for a Sunday roast as they looked really good so it was disappointing that it was mid to below average from a flavour perspective, some bits were cold and other bits had clearly been reheated in the microwave. Overall a cute place to enjoy some scenic drinks. 📗/ 5

Had lunch here today, chicken & chorizo pie with mash and a halloumi burger with chips. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic and huge portions. If I had to be critical then a more interesting beer list would have been nice but Jute on keg was very nice. The building is old and charming in a great location and the enormous Christmas tree was well decorated. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place and we’ll certainly be back.

Lovely evening just chilling by the river with friends and family. Good range of food and drinks. We didn’t eat, the queues were horrendous! Service was pleasant. Live music was great… would have been great if it was on for longer.
