We recently visited The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing and had a great overall experience. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made us feel right at home. One of the best parts of the evening was getting to sit outside on the patio. The view of the James River from there is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a relaxed dinner outdoors.
We started with the fried oysters appetizer, which was hot, crispy, and full of flavor. For our main dishes, we ordered the crab cakes and the seafood sampler. The crab cakes were packed with real crab and had just the right amount of seasoning. The seafood sampler offered a tasty variety and was well-prepared across the board. Everything tasted fresh and was plated with care.
Our only complaint was the portion sizes. For the price, we expected just a bit more food. The flavors and quality were definitely there, but the servings felt a little on the small side.
Parking wasn’t an issue—while there’s limited street parking directly in front of the restaurant, there are two large free parking lots just around the corner, which was super convenient.
Overall, the combination of solid seafood, great outdoor seating, friendly service, and a beautiful riverside setting makes this a place worth visiting again. Whether you’re planning a casual night out or a special dinner, The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing offers a memorable dining experience in one of the prettiest spots in Richmond.
