Many furnishings were custom-designed by the Scott family and exude the feeling of a boat cabin, especially when placed among the built-in shelves and cabinetry of the bachs —the local word for an authentic New Zealand beach shack. Accommodations range from old boat sheds to a three-story tower that feels like a lighthouse, and outdoor decks provide many opportunities to enjoy the sea breeze. Wonderful hotel starting with a lovely personal welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We’ve been lucky to stay in hotels around the world but this is by far the best experience. Would highly recommend staying for the ‘in house dining’ experience rather than going out in the evening - chef is superb and it was so relaxing.

We celebrated a weekend of our honeymoon at the Boatshed Hotel and we fell in love. Jonathon and his team made us feel like we were the only guests at the hotel. From picking us up at the ferry, giving us charcuterie and wine upon welcoming us into the lobby, and spending every meal overlooking the ocean. We will be back and cannot talk higher about our experience at the Boatshed it was heaven on earth.

This beautiful, quaint property is a gem on the island. We stayed in one of the bungalows and had everything we needed. They were so comfortable, convienant and relaxing. The food at the Boatshed was elegant and delicate - some of the best meals we had on our trip. The staff are a 10! All of them. So kind and attentive and go out of their way to make your trip exceptional.

The Boatshed is AMAZING. We came here to finish our honeymoon and were blown away. The food is fantastic, the accommodations were first class and cozy, and the service is above and beyond. The staff is kind and truly takes care of you. 10/10 recommendation to stay here!!

This is a lovely boutique hotel with fabulous views over the bay at breakfast and dinner. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The food (with much produce from their garden) is tasty and plentiful and it is delightful to eat on separate tables which offer privacy, but share the stunning views. Jeeps are available to hire by the day for touring the island. The wine list is short, but allows some sampling of local wines. Who could ask for anything more.

The boatshed was our favorite hotel that we stayed at during our recent NZ trip. The accommodations are comfortable and well thought out, staff is lovely and food is incredible. If we were to go again we would plan to dine in every night for dinner. We will be back!!

The Boatshed makes for a dream getaway! We stayed leading up to Christmas for three days to start our trip to NZ and it was lovely. The meals (breakfast and dinner) are delicious, the staff is charming and helpful, the views are stunning, and the decor is the perfect beach chic. We also rented one of their picnic trucks for the day to explore the island and that was very easy and fun. The resident pup, Harry, is a delightful character to only adds to the charm. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Everything about The Boatshed is pure magic. The staff is absolutely outstanding. Jonathan and his whole team were the calmest most relaxing people who helped us with any and everything we needed, most of the time without us even asking! From the moment we were picked up at the ferry, we had the most incredible time. The food is outrageously good- both breakfast and dinner were our best meals on the entire island during our 3 days. The room was so lovely, clean, spacious, and the housekeeping staff was so wonderful. The views are amazing, the location is perfect as you are removed from town but it’s so close to walk into town or to the beach. If we didn’t live so far we’d be back multiple times a year!

Welcome home to paradise! From the instant you arrive, you are met with warmth, comfort, attention, a gorgeous view and delicious food. Rooms are beautifully appointed and probably the most comfortable bed EVER. The staff all go all out to make your experience the best. Be sure to also ask to be connected with Chris for driving, wine touring, etc and you'll have an experience you'll smile about for the rest of your life. Can't wait to come back!
