I wish I had listened to the reviews before booking. I was extremely disappointed with my stay. Despite reserving a room months in advance, I was not given the room I booked. The room I did receive had a cockroach and dirty sheets, which left both of us feeling disgusted for the entirety of our stay. To make matters worse, I was promised my original room would be available at 7 AM the next day, but that promise was broken, and we had to wait until midday—completely throwing off our plans as we had to stick around the hotel. This was supposed to be a very special weekend for us, but the hotel’s mismanagement and lack of care completely ruined it. On top of that, no breakfast is included, which is a huge downside. While they do offer coffee, it comes in a super small container that isn’t refilled—so good luck getting any. The front desk staff also showed no concern for the issues we faced. They were prepared to charge me the full amount until I spoke up, at which point they only offered half off the first night. Why should I have to pay anything when I didn’t receive the room I booked, and the one I got was unsanitary? I’ve stayed in true 4-star hotels before, and this is far from one. This place needs major improvements before it can even be in the discussion of a 4-star hotel. The only reason this is getting two stars instead of one is that the room we originally booked—and eventually got into—was adequate.

Rooms are very nice. Bathroom spacious for city hotel. Location is ideal. Front desk attendant is rude- she doesn't smile and seems annoyed at everything. They need to replace her to be honest as she doesn't seem to enjoy her job. One morning, they had sign on elevator saying we had to take the service elevator- with no signs or directions as to where the service elevator was. Finally used stairs and ended up behind hotel in icy alley way. Restaurant attached is fairy depressing- over priced. Location and the rooms make this place very good choice overall though.

The staff was really nice m, friendly and welcoming. The hotel lobby area was nicely decorated (went during the Christmas season). The room was clean and nice. The shower area was larger and nicer than an average hotel. The location is perfect, and there are many things within walking distance. However, the hotel could offer a little more for the price... the hotel's restaurant was overpriced, and the service was bad.

Location is perfect. Near the center for shopping, cit seeing and the T. Would not be a great idea for parking cars though. Much easier for public transport. The room service was great and free wifi. Heating was good, I was worried reading previous reviews but had no problems with my room. I selected the deluxe option and had a great view of the market outside. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A wonderful hotel in a great spot! Stopped here during a quick overnight layover. It’s near the airport but half a block away from some of Boston’s most historic buildings and pubs - a crab roll at Bell in Hand was the perfect late dinner. Rooms were good and service was tight and professional. Would happily stay here again.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I don’t even know where to start. Upon check-in, I wasn’t greeted because the front desk staff was too busy watching TikTok videos on her phone. The elevator’s inspection had been expired for over a year and sounded like it was on the verge of breaking down. When I finally got to my room, I was shocked to find black mold on the air vents and bathroom ceiling, along with someone else’s hair in the shower. It was clear that the rooms weren’t properly cleaned between guests. When I brought this up to the staff, I received nothing but a half-hearted “We’re sorry” and was given another room—only to find even worse black mold. The walls were so thin that I could hear people snoring, brushing their teeth, talking, and watching TV. For a hotel that claims to be 4 stars, this is beyond unacceptable. And while star ratings are based on amenities, this place seemed more focused on hidden fees than actual service—charging $20 per night for a mini fridge and an unexplained $30 per night “popular destination” fee with no receipt. They’ll state to you that “it’s on our website”, but when it’s booked through a third party, you’d never know until you see the charges a week later on your credit card. I was here on a business trip to visit my company’s new office, and I can confidently say that no one from my company will ever stay here again.

Google
we had the most fantastic visit… from the comfort of the room, easy access to all the tourist attractions. and our view was amazing. we will be back. perfect location. the restaurant had good food & thanksgiving dinner which was a treat after our long flight:

The front desk staff was not approachable. She didn’t greet any of the guests checking in. Our room was big however there was carpet stains all over the room. The shower looked dirty. Our balcony door was jammed and wouldn’t close or lock properly. The room and bathroom walls were stained. Overly priced hotel for the room to be in such bad conditions.

Yelp
Great hotel had fun visiting my friend k in Boston. First hotel I stayed at hadn't seen her in a long time and I still remember. Walking outside and seeing her on that bench waiting for me. I So happy to see her again. Maybe she will want to see me again someday we lost contact. Great memories thank you.

Yelp
Went for two days during a work trip up to Boston. I previously lived in the area and knew the location, and surrounding hotels well. We typically suggest visiting employees stay at the Bostonian, and usually I hear nothing good or bad about this particular hotel. This trip was 600/night for a Tuesday and wednesday night. The cost really seemed almost price gouged due to the hype of the celtics even on the tuesday night. What did I get for 600 a night? Nothing but just a room. Which is wild, no mini fridge, kitchenette, microwave or any other incentive. There was a "Destination Fee" per day, bringing it up to 70+ on extra costs. Would never expect to have a 600 dollar room, and feel like a 180-250 dollar room treats their guests better. The room itself was not modern, the view outside the window (on the second floor) was a dumpster in an empty parking lot with a glaring bright light that shown into the room. Check in, was awkward. They sent a longform questionaire to fill out before check in, and then the same questions asked at the front desk. I was told that my "company card" did not work with incidentals and destination fee. Only to go down more confusion, when normally i am just asked, if there is a card i would like to put incidentals down. The size of the room was decent, but majority of the space is unused. Would have preferred better amenities, than a larger room. You should really rethink just providing a mini fridge, especially in an area where you are surrounded by restaurants that provide larger portions (north end) $20 dollars a day for a fridge, ontop of 600 a night just makes your hotel seem greedy.

Yelp
Dirty and outdated. The carpet in the room is so old and nasty you won't want to walk on it with bare feet. The walls are covered in stains and spiiks that aren't cleaned up. Shower is moldy with dirty tiles. You certainly aren't paying for cleanliness or upkeep. The location is great but for this price and with tons of other good hotels around I would definitely skip this one.

Yelp
Brief Summary: - Basic needs are met - Close to the Faneuil Hall - Plush beds - Some amenities are unusable - Noise level - quiet from outside; depends on the guests next door - Complimentary water bottles on the warm season I visited - Destination fee added on each night We arrived in the beginning of June to visit Boston. We have reserved a room at this hotel a month in advance, and at the time the rate was lower than the other offered hotels. The location is at a perfect spot for touring around Boston; it was in the heart of the town. It was easy to access two of the public transportations, some of their iconic historic buildings can be seen a block away. Check in was at 4pm, but we arrived at the hotel in the morning. They informed us that an additional fee is added if we check in early, so we decided to drop off our suitcases at the front and spend some time exploring out in Boston. We checked in after 4pm. During the check in process the staff explained the details and amenities, as well as a letter with other notes and informations. Some were about the window cleaning schedules, and another one was about the nightly destination fee. Fortunately, we saved for our vacation, but the nightly fee would have caused some of the guests to leave early. This building is not shaped like a square; it felt like it was built in the narrow but available space it had. When we were heading to our room, we walked through hallways and some turns. Maybe the good thing about this twisty-turny hallway is that the rooms aren't aligned neatly adjacent to each other. Our room had only one neighbor; the first guest was quiet, but the second one was rowdier and didn't know proper human etiquette (the basic rule of staying quiet after midnight, so my relative complained that these new guests were laughing and shouting in the room next to us. Fortunately, that was only one day). Good night rest was successful. I was practically in deep sleep throughout the nights. My other relative, who is a light sleeper, was the only one who was suddenly woken up one night due to the loud guest neighbors and an alarm that rang out certain times in the night. The air conditioning worked well and adjusted quickly to cool us down for the summer nights. The bed was plush but with the air conditioning it kept the sleep cool. The bathroom looked clean but some wear and tear was seen. The dryer didn't work, but other than that, we had no issues using the bathroom. There was a bar soap, small bottles of shampoo and conditioner to use. The shower had the main showerhead and the handheld next option that could be adjusted with the sliding nob. Our bathroom was a room with the tub/shower, toilet, and the vanity in one, and this is enclosed by a smaller space to store clothes. Two sliding doors in total to get into the bathroom, but none had a lock. There was a instant coffee maker, but from first impression, it looked like it wasn't cleaned thoroughly, so we didn't use during the time there. When the weather was growing warmer, a refrigerator close to the entrance provided complimentary water bottles. This helped a lot during the stay and kept us hydrated for the visiting days. On checkout day, we found a paper slip at the foot of the door, and this was the receipt of the destination fee.

Yelp
The hotel is in a great location and front desk and valet staff, friendly. Cozy sitting area in the front with fireplace. The elevators are fast. The complaints would be, the language barrier with housekeeping and room service. The menu in the room was outdated, so it made it difficult trying to order room service. The food was disappointing and over priced. There were a few spots of what looked like black mold in the corners of the shower. And the day we checked out, as soon as we walked out of our room, there was a roach crawling up the wall. I was also lied to when asking about a balcony room. I was told it's only for the suites, but my friend and I booked our rooms together, same king rooms and they had a balcony and we did not - not a huge deal, but disappointing. The extra fees are a bit much and paying a total of over $1000 per room for a weekend, I expected a lot more.

Yelp
I was in the hotel yesterday for an event, and it has really gone downhill. It is 40 yrs old now, hotels typically have a renovation every 7 years or so but it seems like this one is far beyond that (it has also had a few corporate management changes over the last 12 years as well, and that is often where $$ for large projects is held up). The best part is the location, that is an easy one because that is outside of the control of management. 9am in the lobby on a sunny saturday, two people working at the front desk deep in a conversation with each other... no acknowledgment of guests who may need assistance, or even a "hello" or "good morning". Only one elevator was in service, by the time a lucky rider got on the one working, they had a lot of company! The heat was unbearable in the Seasons Ballroom, May 4th with a lot of people in one room does not equal the need for heat!! Lobby Aesthetics: bring it out of the "dark and drab" look, open it up and give it some color and light. Best part was the clean ladies room on the fourth floor with plenty of custom Bostonian hand towels. Clean bathrooms are a must anywhere, but it's sad when it is the only good thing I have to say about the place!

Yuni F.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location for exploring Boston but it needs updating and I would not stay here again.

Yelp
Location..Location....Location! Right across from Fanuel Hall Market place and a quick walk to the Northend (Italian Restaurants) and TD Bank Garden. Very nice front desk women who checked us... sorry didn't get her name and the valet was super welcoming. Our room was awesome in terms of view with a balcony (see photos). Bed was very comfortable but no controls for the heat and it was hot all night. Slept with no shirt on and it was February 10. They charge a resort fee....LOL! No pool & no other special amenities. Call it a location fee. Breakfast was a disappointment except my wife enjoyed her Avocado Toast. My omelette was ok but the home fries were quite tasteless. Waiteress was very pleasant with a big smile. The other waiteress who sat us looked miserable like she didn't want to be there. FYI.... Even for 2 people they add a 20% gratuity for breakfast. Overall we had a very pleasant experience. 4 stars only because of location. Otherwise this is a 3 star hotel.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Great location, but......WAY OVERPRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!$25 for a glass of wine AND gratuity automatically included, $70 for 1 night parking, left bird poop looking stain on our seat, stole money out of our console, hotel was out dated. Not our best experience

Kenneth T.

Yelp
Overall the food was very good but wish they did a better job at explaining the Bloody Mary. The best toppings are at the end on a separate table which no one tells you about. Overall the food was very good, especially anything with seafood in it. The lobster fritatta was our favorite.

Laura G.

Yelp
The only good thing is the location. At almost $450 a night for this room, I was appalled. Wallpaper was peeling off the wall, the shower was moldy, the furniture is broken. Even the tv didn't face the bed for the room I was in. The pictures online aren't even remotely close to the room I got. What really sent me over the edge was the chair in the room to the desk, it's like I'm at a bbq.

Yelp
Avoid the Bostonian. We had reservations for 3 nights. Upon arrival at the hotel, we approached the reception area to check in. The clerk shouted "Do you know our policies?" What? No. I don't work here. Then told us we couldn't check in until 3. We expected to check in, leave our bags and come back later.. no. Leave your bags. Check in after 3. Ok. Come back after 3. Check in. Go to our room. 4 people staying. Only 3 pillows. Strike one. Balcony door is ajar and will not close or lock. Mascara on the pillows, makeup on the shower curtain We go to call for more pillows... the phone does not work. There is gum in the carpet, a white substance on the nightstand and blood on the curtains. I went down to the front desk. Told them we were leaving. Expect all of our money back. Checked in next door at Hilton Canopy to a spotless room.

Bruce Y.

Yelp
The Bostonian long ago reached its pinnacle. Service, repair and staff suffer from lack of efficiency and professionalism. Rooms tired and over priced Having traveled world wide for decades, this hotel ranks at/near the bottom

Meg N.

Yelp
I asked about the restaurant at checkin and was told nothing about it closing early, so no dinner. I am very disappointed and will not be back.

Valerie E.

Yelp
Location! The walkability of this hotel is unmatched. The rooms are wonky and a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was okay, never did answer the phone when we had a question. The elevators are slow! We enjoyed breakfast downstairs twice and it was decent. Complimentary water bottles on our way out for the day were a nice touch. Walk to the North End, the T, Faneuil Hall, etc..

Jen K.

Yelp
This hotel has officially become our go-to spot when we come to Boston! We come back a couple times a year to visit family and after staying at the Bostonian the last few times, it has quickly become our favorite. It's well priced, the rooms are super comfortable/clean, and you absolutely cannot beat the location. I'm from this area and it's the best central spot from where you can walk to wherever you want. We were just there the week of Christmas - When we arrived, Shanti at the front desk helped us out and was friendly and accommodating. (She also found our gift basket we had accidentally left in front the hotel, which we thought was gone for good). The holiday decor in the lobby was also extremely cozy and well done - I really appreciated this every time we walked through the hotel. We also met Andy and Nelson, two of the doormen at the hotel, who always went out of their way to open the doors and welcome us back or wish us a good night. We had a great 3 night stay here and the staff at the hotel really made this visit in particular extra special for us. Thank you & we will see you all next time :)

Mark G.

Yelp
The only positive was the location. Went to Massachusetts for a funeral. The first night after we checked in we noticed feces on the outside of the toilet and all the floors were dirty. We asked to send someone up to clean the room while we went to eat. The clerk said he would send housekeeping up. The refrigerator was also broken. My fiance's brother and mother stayed in the adjacent room and their room was just as filthy. The curtains in their room had black mold. When we came back around midnight the room hadn't been touched, we went back down there again and they said they would comp the night and have it cleaned that morning. We left for a funeral, once we got back the same issues were unresolved. We asked for them to bring a vacuum and cleaning supplies and we offered to clean the room ourselves. The clerk said he would send housekeeping up again. Housekeeping never arrived, we went back to the lobby and spoke with Nicholas Ricciardelli, the manager and he informed us that there is no housekeeping at night. We discussed the issues with him and decided to check out the next morning and find another place to stay. They were supposed to refund the 2 days we stayed but they have not. It would not have been a problem if they had cleaned initially like they told us they were going to do.

J M.

Yelp
I can't believe the horrible experience I have had trying to book a room at the Bostonian Hotel. I have stayed there before and have never had this issue. I started trying to book my reservation a week ago direct on the hotel's website. I let them know the dates couldn't be changed so there was no way to book a room on line for anything but the current date which is not when i am going. They emailed saying how sorry they were, they were having technical issues but that the problem was fixed so i tried again to no avail. Their website wouldn't accept my valid credit card info. told me a handicapped room was available but when i had gone all the way thru, i was told the room couldn't be booked. Lousy booking ability on their site. Then i was emailed a customer service number so i called. Imagine my frustration when the person I was speaking to could not understand what I wanted to do. She kept putting me on hold and after an hour i asked if i could talk to her supervisor. She said yes, just call back to the same number and ask for the supervisor. Of course that didn't work and i talked to another customer "service" (LOL) agent who told me i should call back and get to the operator and ask for the supervisor. So I again called back and no one was answering either the operator or the front desk. The saga continues, I still haven't been able to book a room and think I will give up. What a disaster, management should be aware of this debacle. This is the problem with mergers. Hotel management does not care at all about their customers. I miss the old days of much better customer service, really any customer service! And then they charge outrageous rates.

Michael M.

Yelp
I would strongly discourage booking this hotel. While the staff was incredibly kind, the hotel itself is not well maintained. We found multiple bugs in our room (as well as previously killed spiders still on the ceiling), peeling wallpaper, a coffee bar with no coffee and the hotel overall just didn't feel fresh or clean. The hotel was on the higher end of spend, and upon arrival we were handed a letter and told to 'review and ask any questions'. Inside the letter it says that there is an additional charge of $30 dollars per night added automatically because of the 'prime location of the hotel'. I was furious that this wasn't disclosed prior to booking and also the rate is already high because of the location - so this felt like a low-brass cash grab. Lastly, our room was in a ridiculous spot. You needed to take one elevator to the 7th floor, then walk through a maze of hallways to find a second elevator just to go up one more floor to 8. Terrible layout and an incredibly waste of time navigating that journey everyday. Again, the staff was nice and kind - but the hotel isn't maintained, the rooms are no where near up to pay with the hotel rates, and there are hidden fees which feel unwarranted. I would not book this again and would definitely not recommend to others.

Norma O.

Yelp
If you're visiting Boston and want to be within walking distance of most places/activities common stay at the Bostonian. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and faced the marketplace. It was really cool to look out my hotel room window and watch all the Celtics fans pour out into the city to celebrate the championship. I would definitely stay here again.

Wesley M.

Yelp
(SORT REVIEWS BY RECENT) - and see why you shouldn't stay here - don't make the same mistake others did. No WiFi during stay + very unaccommodating hotel staff. After three days without, the best option was to offer me to check out at midnight and try and find another hotel. Would not let me work in unoccupied conference room (that had lobby WiFi). Technician in room was flustered and borderline mumbling profanity. Unfortunately, this behavior aligns with the rest of my experience of staying here the past two weeks. Generally unfriendly / unhelpful. Beyond that, the hotel is ok because it's in a good location. The rooms are aging, but the bedding is nice. The valet almost ran me and another pedestrian over yesterday. The hotel has very few amenities. I'm staying here because of proximity, but no more - now I understand why the rest of my company no longer stays here.

Dan R.

Yelp
A four star hotel, at room rate of over $350/night (in October) should be much better than this. The rooms are extremely outdated (like from the 1980s) and non-functional. They smell like musk and mold too. The bed is hard as a rock. The bathroom floors were sticky and gross. I'm sure this place has bugs too. The air conditioner/heater is loud as f*ck. There's nothing at all in this hotel that warrants a four star indication. It's not even historical in my mind. Just old. Seriously this is one of the worst hotels I ever stayed in. Plus on some days they don't even answer room service calls. Stay far far away from this dreary dump of a hotel.

Lily S.

Yelp
Loved the interior corridors that felt like walking in a temple thanks to the buildings rounded and curved architecture. Our room was spacious, so was the bathroom. That said, the TV felt a bit smaller. They charge a $25 daily fee so make sure you get all the waters from the front desk! The lobby area is a little too dark in my opinion and receptionists on duty a bit slow. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay here!

Shauntai S.

Yelp
Stayed 9/21/23-9/24/23. Noticed i have cluster of bumps on my left back blade. Next night had them on the right back blade. Before check out had a line of the bumps down my left hand and up my index finger (see photo). Assumed it was a rash and after the itching became so intense the following day. Went to see my doctor where she confirmed they were bed bug bites. Spent almost $2500 for a suite to be eaten alive. Called to report the issue and they refunded my resort fee (that i wasn't supposed to be charged because I'm a VIP member on Expedia). Overall I'm disgusted in pain. NEVER AGAIN. Any the charge for literally charge for every little thing.

Bill S.

Yelp
I am so glad we were able to stay at the hotel, if it was during the summer it would have cost a fortune. Why do you ask? Because it's the center of everything! Quincy Market is literally across the street as well as Boston's North End is walking distance. My in laws came with us from New York to visit my son who lives in Boston. We were able to secure two rooms close to each other. Both rooms had a king bed, my niece came and they ordered a roll out bed to their room. I was told the bed was quite comfortable. My room had a comfy bed as well! The shower was updated with fashionable fixtures and worked well. The shower products the hotel provided wasn't memorable. The staff did greet us with a bottled water when we arrived. Parking? Easy peasy, it's across the street at 40 per night. The Boston Bostonian, it was a pleasure to rest overnight at your establishment. In this part of Boston, I want to scream: the red coats are coming! But we kicked their tea sippin' asses back to the other side of the pond. Because (pinkie to lip) we're Yankees. Merica!

Vladimir S.

Yelp
From the very beginning of my arrival it was a sh*t show. The front desk agent was very unprofessional and not welcoming. I will not get too much into the details of the room, but it was supposed to be a non smoking room. It smelled strongly of cigarettes and some cheap cleaner combined. I also had issues with the toilet but I digress. Please see the photos that clearly demonstrates the poor conditions of the room. After being billed for 2 nights on a 1 night stay, this is where the real nightmare begun. When trying to speak to any personnel to address this, I was unsuccessful for a day and half. There was no response when calling the accounting department. You can leave a message, but will not get a call back. I called 6 times and had a bad experience every time. This meant phone the ringing out, being transferred to voicemail, being "accidentally" hung up on, or getting a person that was unable to assist me. In summation, if you've ever walked past one of those full garbage dumpster on a hot summer day, and it had the liquids dripping with a horrible stench from it that was horribly unpleasant. Well that was my experience!

Kate P.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed here and really loved it. The check in was smooth and the staff were friendly and they even upgraded our standard room to a studio suite which was amazing. The room was classy, spacious and even had a log fireplace. We enjoyed stepping out onto the small balcony and we couldn't hear any of our neighbors (just the sounds of the city). The on-site restaurant is decent too and the hotel is in an amazing location - central to so many things. I hope to be back at some point soon!

Michael F.

Yelp
I don't normally leave reviews and can't remember the last time I did but my wife and I decided to fly out to Boston for a few days to celebrate being newly wed and such. We booked ahead of time and found ourselves somewhat deceived. The hotel costs too much money for what we got. Minutes after arriving my wife and I went to wash our hands in the bathroom and found the sink was clogged, when I jiggled the drain plug beard trimmings and gunk started coming up through the drain which was gag-worthy... So we spent the first hour in our hotel with maintenance coming in and out trying to fix it. Additionally the bathroom had a sliding door that was broken and would not open after it was closed with a significant effort to lift the door... The shower also did not have a sealed door so there ended up being a ton of water on the floor after our showers which was concerning because for awhile we went sure if it was the shower or toilet that was leaking... We informed the front desk in the morning and they said they would send someone up, when we got back in the evening we found nothing different. Finally, it was frustrating to feel like we were nickel and dimed for everything: The small room fridge was only designed to sell their products with no room for our own water/etc. parking was also $40 a night which was pricey. I will say that they do have a fridge near the lobby stocked with complimentary water which was nice and we also had a decent view. Ultimately however, we won't be booking another night there as we didn't find it worth the price.

Steve J.

Yelp
If you really want to stay @ this garbage dump, expect that they will rape you financially @ every possible turn. $95 for parking in their lot for the time you're already paying to stay. I'm not sure if it's just this place or is Boston itself, just "crooked". I'd hate to see what they charge if you sneeze...or God forbid you need an extra roll of toilet paper....probably $1.00 per single piece.....you all SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Sheri H.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying that the staff is wonderful and very accommodating but I strongly would NOT recommend making a reservation at this hotel on a Friday or Saturday night regardless of its central location until it improves its sound proofing. It's a lovely hotel but due to the fact we are here for the marathon and they are booked, we could not change rooms. Starting around 9PM until 2AM you can hear the bass and the screaming from the bars on Union Street. To top it off, you can clearly hear all emergency vehicles as well. If you are a heavy sleeper, maybe you can withstand it. However, soundproof windows and possibly better insulation need to be installed. It is absolutely awful!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
The worst place ever . it was filthy and disgusting. Do not stay here . GenerAl Manager is awful. We checked out after 5 mins and went to another hotel. place smelled and food ground into furniture.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
The hotel is dated, tired and lacks what it use to be. All the social media photos are from 2002 !!! How do I know, because I worked on that photo shoot!

Clarelly L.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS HOTEL! this was my first time staying in this hotel. i loved everything about it and everything around it. I love how the bedroom are really spacious, so much room. If you're staying alone or with a partner/ friend is perfect. For me it was the vanity space, i love hotels that have a mirror and a little desk to do your make up with light and a little chair. felt really personalized. The showers are good, the water comes out strong and really hot. Each room has a different view, i stayed in two different rooms with different views & they were both city views. [just wished i had a balcony] but other than that this is a must stay! i would def return on my upcoming trip.

Yelp
We stayed on Friday and Saturday nights. When we arrived, the red message light on the room telephone was blinking, but we could not access a message. The desk sent someone to our room, but he could not fix it and said he would send someone else up in the morning. I covered it with paper so the blinking did not bother us all night. We had to ask the desk again the next day (around noon) to send someone up. When he came, he did turn it off. I think that when the maid prepared the room, she should have noticed this and had it fixed before we arrived. On Saturday night at 10:00, very loud live music began playing above us, along with voices. The room absolutely vibrated with it. This was inconvenient for our sleep and devastating to our daughter, who was in the room next door with her infant. It woke the baby and kept the baby awake. I called the desk 3 times and asked when the music would stop. I was told that it was on the floor above us (4) and would stop at 10:30 or 11:00 pm. It stopped at 11:08. After the people left, they began moving furniture around, so there were continued thumps and bangs. I heard the last one at 12:40 AM. They should let people know that there will be noise and offer to put us in whatever part of the hotel is the quietest. They knew we were traveling with a baby, as I had requested a crib for one room. They even asked the baby's age when I reserved the crib. For a hotel that aims to be 4 star, they are failing to reach that level of service and accommodation. The staff didn't show any particular concern about our problems. I would avoid this hotel on Saturday nights unless you will be out late.

Yelp
We are so disappointed the minute we checked into our room. Everything looks old and dirty. The phone didn't work, the safe box didn't work, the TV remote control sometimes worked sometimes not. There was no pen, no paper, the toilet paper is of the cheapest kind, the chair has a big ugly stain, and all the furniture is old and dirty. The AC is so loud. The lobby is depressing looking. The room should only cost $100/night. The one-star is for the location. We'll never stay at this hotel again. It's worse than Motel 6.

Yelp
The location is awesome. Older hotel, that's ok. Communication needs to be better with staff and guests. Construction could be heard from outside our room on the seventh floor from 10 pm on. The restaurant below was having a private party it was thumping. The Base could be heard in our room. The refrigerator in the room could not be used because of items being sold. To my knowledge, there was only 1 ice machine and 1 microwave on the third floor. The 1 microwave is dirty and needs a deep cleaning. There is a bad smell in this location .Management has a fan trying to blow the smell away. The housekeeping staff is awesome. Always staying on top of things. They Always made sure my room was clean before my return. I hope Management responds.

Yelp
This hotel has gone downhill from the last time I was here a few years ago. My husband and I used to come every year. This will be our last time at the Bostonian. Corporate needs to do a complete overhaul. Ripped seats in the dining area. Rooms have stained carpet and torn wallpaper. The ceiling in the bathroom is peeling paint. So disgusting and disappointed. Get your act together Bostonian! This is no 4 star hotel anymore.

Yelp
Cons: This is what I found as soon as I checked in. Hair everywhere, an old stain on the sheets and something smeared on the chair. For the price of the room, the nightly extra fees of 25.00 no one told us about and 40.00 for parking A NIGHT, I'll probably stay elsewhere . Thankfully they did totally re-clean the room. Pros: Amazing location. Next to tons of bars and restaurants, the North End, docks etc. I'd probably stay again simply for location and convenience but it's not my first choice.

Yelp
My partner and I are currently staying at this hotel. This is our first trip to Boston together (and his first time here), which I explained to the hotel's front desk when I made the reservation weeks ago. I also explained that I planned to propose during this trip and if a room with a fireplace was available for upgrade, it would be greatly appreciated. We arrived yesterday at 1pm. The hotel's stated check-in time is 3pm. They explained that a room with a fireplace was indeed available for an additional charge, and that it was ready. I accepted the charge, but then was told that because we are checking in early I needed to pay an additional $50 "early check-in fee." I have never been to a hotel where they charge you for being 2 hours early when they room is already ready. I found it petty, to be honest, especially considering the background (our first time here, a planned proposal, etc.). I was extremely friendly and kind to the lady at the front desk, and accepted the early check-in fee after debating it briefly with my partner. When we got to the room we were slightly disappointed. The balcony has what one local referred to as "the dumpster view" (there is construction across the street - the balcony doesn't face the market / square as I had hoped, and is on a lower lever (3rd floor). However, it does have big windows along the other wall that face the market / square, which is nice. That evening upon returning to the hotel around 8:45pm I asked the gentleman at the front desk for a log to be brought to the hotel room for the fireplace (hoping to have a romantic atmosphere). He said no problem. Well, an hour later and 2 additional trips in person to the front desk to ask, I was still waiting... There were 2 different staff members working the front desk when I went down those 2 additional times to ask for a status... the man seemed to be patronizing me, and the woman chuckled when I said I was planning to propose, and that I didn't understand the point of paying for a room with a fireplace if I can't get a log to use in it (the hotel requires that a staff member bring a Duraflame-type log to the room and light it for you, which I understand). I then told them to cancel it, by this point I was agitated and disappointed. Finally, more than an hour after I requested it, and after I canceled the request - a staff member arrived at our door with a log. I let him in to light it, but it was too little too late. The mood was completely ruined and the moment had passed. Maybe tonight... At this point, I do not plan to return to this hotel. I will update this post if my opinion changes though.

Yelp
We stayed 1 night at the Bostonian and gave our car to Valet. we noticed that BOTH seats were moved. We checked the app we have for the car and it was taken for a 20 minute joy ride. not only that but later in the day it was taken out again for another joy ride. We paid 65 dollars for valet only to have our car taken out by valet. Also the app show speed it showed excessive speed and cornering.

Yelp
Pretty nice hotel with a great location. It's near several prominent places of interest near the highway. Also, there is a public parking lot across the street. The staff is very pleasant and room is cozy. I would recommend. The only thing that I was bummed out about was that the TV and phone didn't work.

Yelp
Awesome location. Convenient Uber to the airport and quick walk to food and tourist stuff. Easy check in and out, friendly staff, clean, 12 noon check out and they will hold your luggage if you have a later flight ..

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel this past weekend on Saturday night. I will admit, I was very impressed when I went to go check in and they had my key ready for me because I did the pre-check in process. They had complementary water, and a very nice lobby. We made our way up to the room, opened the door to our suite, and we were welcomed with an unpleasant odor. We shook it off, and basically said this is the Bostonian, it's one of the best hotels in Boston, no big deal. We went out, utilized the valet service which cost $62 per night, which didn't seem like a bad price. When we went back to our room, we got ready for bed, and as I was brushing my teeth I looked up and saw a bug on the wall. This wasn't any ordinary bug, it was a very large COCKROACH. I was horrified. I will never stay in this hotel ever again, and I would strongly advise you to never stay here either. I'm sure the motel 6 or Super 8 would've had nicer rooms than this, and sure would be cockroach free. Do better.

Yelp
This hotel was average, nothing special about it except for the valet people, Nelson went above and beyond and is amazing !

Yelp
So, this place is really nice with friendly staff. All is well except no heat in the restaurant or bar. Talked with staff and food manager and they seem to be not getting support. Talked with front desk, no help. It is literally freezing in there and maintenance won't fix it. After some digging it appears the upper management does not care to do the right thing and fix it correctly. Also hot water only gets so hot, weird. Too bad as it is not cheap and you need to eat with a jacket and hat on... I hope they step up and fix as it is nice facility near many things...

Yelp
Booked one night here before my trip to Provincetown through hotels.com. Check in was easy but I had several issues with the room. First, there was no remote for the TV. I called twice and after 40 min finally got one. At the same time I called about the remote I informed them the paper coffee cup had some kind of mold or dirt on the plastic covering and a hole in the plastic with something sliding in the bottom of the cup. Also the phone Hand held receiver would not work and I could only communicate using the speaker phone. Lastly, when i opened the mini fridge 2 cans fell out. I put them back so we will see if they try to charge me. For a $300+ per night room, this did not come close to expectations. It's a nice location, close to downtown sites but I will look elsewhere in the future. I wonder if using Hotels.com causes some issues, considering user a lower class. The view from my room was bricks and air conditioners.

Yelp
We stayed here for a night in December. The staff was friendly, however both elevators were broken. There's also a $25 destination fee because of the location which I thought was odd. It's a nice hotel but up for debate if it's worth the price.

Yelp
Pros: - Superb location. Seriously, we were walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do in Boston and we were able to make stops back at the hotel during the day because it was on the way to so many of our destinations. - Friendly staff - Complimentary water bottles - Large bathrooms - Fast elevators Cons: - No mini fridge for personal items -- it's only stocked with mini bar items that you'll be charged for if you move anything. If you have anything that needs refrigeration, you won't be able to keep it in your room. - Our room overlooked a storage yard that looked like a junkyard. It held items used at a farmers market but it was very unpleasant to look at and was basically the entire view from our room. - Bedding was old. Pillows felt completely different from each other and were completely flat. Super uncomfortable. - Facility fee is charged separately from the rooms, so watch out! We booked our stay through a third party but we were charged another fee upon checking out by the hotel as their "facility fee."

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Nasty desk service. 2 nights, $750.00. Canceled well early enough due to family circumstances. No refund, no change of dates allowed, and no compensation whatsoever. Do not waste your money here. Total thieves.
