Great location!!!!! Great service. Rooms are tiny. My grandson and I shared a room with two beds. I had a fairly large suitcase….almost like 3 people were sharing!!! If alone or with my spouse, I would stay again. Parking isn’t the easiest. Comfy beds!!

Went with my son to a Celtics game. The Box is called a resort hotel. It’s not at all. ( so I understand the complaints about paying a resort fee)|The hotel is an old 1800’s building with rich history. The staff was wonderful. All friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. Old but clean. Edges, corners and hard to reach spots were exceptional. If a wrapper was on the floor within minutes it was magically gone. ||Due to it being a slow period. The food at the restaurant was less than good. Service was great but for example the ice cream ( simple offering) was scraped from a cardboard container that was frozen with ice crystals. The ice cream tasted thick and like you were eating the container. We couldn’t do it. Breakfast was decent, except things like the sausage had the taste of freezer burn as well. ||The rooms are small and oddly shaped likely because of the building shape and age but that’s not bad. |Things like the Duvet Covers and sheets and pillows on the bed were well past expiration date . Though I’m confident they were clean, ownership could spend a little of those resort fees on new bedding. ||Overall a pleasant stay and a good location for the Celtics game. Just a short walk to both TD garden and Fanuel Hall.

Google
Fantastic hotel in an a great location! Cute restaurant with a lovely server Lily who took great care of us at breakfast. Rose at the front desk was also kind and helpful. Operations Manager Brooks Kenney is doing a phenomenal job keeping this hotel looking sharp! Thank you again for a great stay!

We had an amazing stay at the Boxer this past weekend! While the rooms are a bit on the smaller side, they have everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The real standout for me was the incredible service at the front desk. Ricky and Moesha went above and beyond to make our visit memorable and give great recommendations. A nice touch was the complimentary hot chocolate and hot apple cider in the afternoon— such a cozy addition after a day of exploring the city! The hotel is in a great location, making it easy to get around. Overall, a wonderful experience and I would definitely return.

This place is perfect, especially when going to a Bruins game, as it is walking distance to TD Garden. The staff are delightful…. we actually had the same waitress, Liliana, two years in a row! I like the longevity of staff too…says something to me about them as employers. Room was cozy and comfortable and food was very good. We will be back!

Google
Excellent service! Perfect location, walking distance to so many things like the north station. We will be back! The staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was small and cozy... perfect to come back to after a long day sight seeing!! Thank you for the restaurant recommendations too!

Went there for a weekend. Staff was really nice and rooms were great. The weather was cold but it was nice coming home late at night to a nice room. Had a great weekend.

Hotel is decently priced. Front desk staff are great. Rooms are great, clean and comfy beds. Hotel is close to TD Garden (2-3 min walk).

Yelp
This was a very cute hotel and convenient to what we were doing in Boston - and it was also relatively cheap compared to a lot of the others I had looked at for our quick trip. (We came up to see Sarah McLachlan at the MGM by Fenway back in October, but she canceled.) We ended up going to a Bruins game so it was really convenient for that. I wasn't really a fan of the amenity fee that kind of forces you to go to the restaurant they have at the hotel, but we did go there for breakfast and it was quite tasty. The bed was plenty comfy and the room and bathroom itself were fine - the room could maybe use some more outlets. The size was fine, I saw people complaining about the size of the rooms, but it was fine for two people - and we had just come back from a trip to Japan, so any traditional American hotel room is pretty gargantuan in comparison.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed a one night stay at The Boxer when visiting Boston for a show at TD Garden. Check in was easy and the women at the front desk were very kind and knowledgeable. Parking is a 5 minute walk away at the Government Center garage (check in first before parking to get a discounted rate of $50). I was surprised that the on-site restaurant was only open until 9pm, but luckily there are many other options in the area. The room was small but the beds were very comfortable, the TV had a good amount of channels, the bathroom was clean, and there were complimentary water bottles. For the price we got through Hotels.com, we were happy with our stay and would return.

Yelp
Cute little hotel close to train easy to get in and out rooms were quite. There is a small restaurant/bar where you can get a drink breakfast or dinner.staff were helpful. Everything was very clean. They provided an umbrella and robes in each room and they had bicycles to use. Overall great spot.

Yelp
I liked the room but there were issues. Sink was very slow to drain. Toilet would only flush if you held the handle down for at least 30 seconds. I was on the ninth floor and still heard all the ground level noise. Parking is nonsense. You literally park two blocks away and the hotel then "validates" you at $40/night. Hire a valet service. Desk staff were super friendly. Housekeeping staff was rude. That's okay. No tip for you!

Yelp
I typically don't like to bash businesses but I feel compelled here. This was a very high priced room and did not deliver at all. The worst hotel in which we have ever stayed. Location is great and it is clean but that's about it. For what they charge, extremely disappointing. Very small, odd shaped room. Poor lighting. Broken outlet in bathroom. Hairdryer that caught my hair and ripped it. Poor quality, tough towels. Cracks in shower. Housekeeping put back towels in the floor and only left one towel for two people. Refrigerator is next up bed ( weird) and noisy all Night. No bell man. No help whatsoever with luggage. Water in room not replaced. Thinnest toilet paper and tissue I have ever seen. For what purports to be a luxury boutique hotel, nothing could be father from the truth. Courtyard by Marriott would have been better. Or any other hotel.

Rob S.

Yelp
Location is great and checking in was easy and friendly. Front desk did a great job giving me info and straightened out quickly. As others have said, the rooms are small but they have all the amenities. My room was fresh and very clean. It was dark but that was fine for me as it was just a place to sleep. For the price and location I'd go back but not just to stay in the room.

Yelp
My lovely bride and I stayed at the Boxer Hotel over the 2024 Labor Day weekend. Here are the positives: (1) excellent location, within easy walking distance to Beacon Hill and the North End, and (2) the junior suites are reasonably priced. The downsides are (1) very slow cleaning of the room, usually late afternoon (apparently the cleaners prioritize cleaning the rooms for newly arriving guests), (2) the towels are rougher than a new loofah, (3) there were no refills of the minibar during our 5-day stay, (4) the furniture is old and shabby (one side of the bed's mattress had a significant dip), (5) the carpet is dirty and worn, (6) the color of the wall paint makes the room look extremely dated, (7) several of the younger receptionists act as if it's their first day on the job, (8) don't expect anyone to assist you with your bags to or from the room, (9) there is only one elevator for the building, so be prepared for a late-arriving elevator to be shared with a room cleaning cart and plenty of other exasperated guests, (10) the room cleaners do not bring clean glassware, so you will be using the same glass for your entire stay, (11) the walls are thin, you can hear people talking in the hallway and closing their doors, and (12) you get the general impression that the people who work there are miserable and exhausted. The worst part is that, with new management and a renovation, this could be a 3 or 4 star hotel.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel and I provided a survey as to some of my concerns and for things done well. The room we had was so small that in the night when my husband tried to navigate around the bed he hit his shoulder on the oversized makeshift desk and closet unit. We also booked through Expedia which afforded a 20% discount on breakfast, however that was not granted either. When I completed the survey the Operations manager reached out and basically gave me a canned response and didn't acknowledge the lack of discount or even a concern for my husband. Very sad that people really don't seem to care about anything but $$$

Yelp
This morning breakfast, it was terrible, waited for coffee, extended time for service of any sort and they weren't busy. Had eggs Benedict, eggs overcooked, hollandaise sauce could scarcely find it. My son and fiancé had dry toast, no spoons on the table, food not hot. Last year was excellent, may go somewhere else next year to stay and do breakfast. For the price I expect good service at minimum with proper food preparation.

Yelp
I wish I'd had a good experience that some others seemed to have, but this place was a disaster. The rooms are small and dark as many have noted. There are no amenities in the room. The bathroom sliding door would not open all the way, creating a narrow space to walk through. The bench in the room poked out beyond a wall, which inhibited comfortable walking between the door or bathroom to the bed. You essentially had to go sideways to avoid a stubbed toe. The bed platform was larger than the mattress, so you also had to be careful walking around that. Upon arrival, the TV was broken, the bathroom door was broken, the shower was broken, and the bathroom sink was broken. There was a large spot on the floor next to the bathroom door that hadn't been cleaned in quite some time and was just a pile of filthy dust. I had a long day of travel and business meetings, so when I came to my room in the evening, I needed to go straight to bed in order to be up for more meetings in the morning. It was at this point that I realized the window curtains in the room would not lower. This meant that I had no privacy as people in other buildings and the street could see me (and I could see them), and all that light would be streaming into my room preventing sleep. I called the front desk and she stated that she would submit a ticket to maintenance and they would be there shortly. A while later, when no one had come, I called back down and she said she'd submit another ticket. I didn't see how this would help anything, but I let her do what she thought was best. An hour later, no one had come, and I desperately needed to be in bed to get up in the morning. I called again, and this time she stated that it was likely the maintenance individual was no longer there, and I'd have to wait until the next day. Why am I just being told this an hour and a half after my initial call? I asked if there were any alternatives to the situation, and she became very callous and obviously irritated. She proceeded to sternly scold me in an extremely rude fashion. I was literally being lectured about how awesome she was and how I just needed to accept what was happening. I sat silent on the phone until she finished her rant. She said there were no other options and I just wouldn't get any sleep. I was stunned. I was here for business in a hotel my employer chose, so had no options to leave at this point. I didn't understand why she couldn't at least switch me to another room. Not only was it horrible that so many issues existed in one room, but the lack of service and cold response was uncalled for and disgusting. I tried ordering room service in the morning and was told there was a problem with the kitchen and I'd have to call back. About 30 minutes later I called back and they said it would be another 10 minutes. I asked if I could just go ahead and place my order for when the kitchen was ready in 10 minutes. That seemed like common sense, but none of the staff appear to possess this trait. The lady begrudgingly accepted my order. My food arrived with zero condiments for the bread that came with the meal - no butter, no jam, no nothing. My colleague also ordered breakfast that morning and reported hair in her eggs. Upon checkout, I was tempted to think that surely such a simple activity would not have any issues, but I knew better. Sure enough, it took them 20 minutes to properly check me out. The staff at the front desk kept fumbling around with the computer and could not get my checkout completed properly. This is a process that most hotels have down efficiently and requires little to no effort on the guest. However, I had to stand there for 20 minutes while they kept saying they couldn't find this or couldn't find that regarding my stay. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
No Valet Parking is a Hassle ! They were unwilling to let me cancel room for no charge because of that. And I previously stayed there 3 times with valet parking. it was not mentioned on the confirmation email or anywhere when booking the room. I was freezing ice cold, with no jacket, walking 1/3 mile in a confusing garage with poor signage not great. Just annoyed about the lack of empathy. Just Awful !

Yelp
Very classy hotel with cool architecture. Comfy bed, quiet room. Location has a close commute to food and shopping.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I booked this hotel to be able to attend a wedding. We live in Florida. Unfortunately, hurricane Milton came through our state in town that we live in and made it impossible for us to get to our reservation. Watching the news closely and continuously calling our airline, we were informed that our flights would be canceled and Until the devastation was reviewed, there would be no more further flights from any of the nearby airports. Many days prior to our stay we reached out to the hotel, attempting to speak with a few different staff members. We explained our situation and tried to get a refund. At the bare minimum, a credit or a date change. We were informed by either their manager or one of their staff members that they were completely sold out that weekend and we could not have a date change. Kind of funny that they couldn't refund us. Seeing their hotel was sold out and likely they could have put those rooms back up and gotten their money back .Not a single staff was helpful and when speaking to the manager, she was downright nasty. We were hung up on, put on hold, and then our calls stopped being answered. Expedia, the agency we booked through, also called on multiple occasions to fight for us. Expedia was also hung up on, and put on hold so long that they had to hang up. The boxer also stopped answering their calls. What is $900 to a sold out hotel compared to two humans that lost $900 to this hotel and much of their home during the hurricane. It's disgusting

Yelp
Location is the main selling point for this Boston hotel, conveniently situated within walking distance of some of the city's best neighborhoods. But families may find the accommodations a bit snug, especially if you're sharing the room with teenagers. On a recent 4-night stay, we did everything in our power to stay out of tiny 'Deluxe' room, which was clean, comfortable, but extremely cramped. Unfortunately, there aren't many places to escape to in The Boxer -- the hotel has a small lobby, a modest but forgettable restaurant, and a bar that can seat about 8 people. And aside from a basement fitness room, there are no other amenities to speak of. That said, location is THE amenity here. Walk 10 minutes in one direction, and you'll find yourself in the heart of Boston's fabulous North End neighborhood, with its endless collection of Italian eateries and pastry shops. Walk about the same distance the other way, and you'll discover the cobblestone streets and upscale shopping of Beacon Hill, the city's trendiest address. Boston Common and the Freedom Trail sights are also very walkable from the hotel, and TD Garden is literally around the corner. Checking out a ballgame at Fenway? The T's Orange Line is less than a 10-minute walk away. Service was generally good throughout our stay, but it was disappointing to have room service show up at 4 p.m. one afternoon as we we trying to get ready for dinner. I'm not sure we'd cram our family of 4 into a double room at the Boxer on our next trip to Beantown, but for couples looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a fantastic location, this hotel is tough to beat.

Yelp
Location is the only thing recommending this hotel and you have PLENTY of other options. There are no trash cans outside the hotel--a must for any supposedly "dog-friendly" hotel. We were put on the highest floor of the hotel (traveling with a two dogs!) by a surly front desk worker who said next to nothing during the entire process only to find maintenance personnel inside when we entered. We then had to go back down 9 flights (with said dogs) because there is a single elevator for the entire hotel INCLUDING the service staff. The room--when we finally got one well after check in--was shabby. The bathroom fixtures were in various states of disrepair, and everything in the room (bed included) was overused or beaten up. On the day we intended to check out, I received an auto-generated email at 8 a.m. that thanked me for our stay. So despite the presence of the Do Not Disturb sign on our door, I was understanding with the housekeeping staff who barged into our room at 8:30 a.m. while my wife and I were in our birthday suits--they thought the room was empty because the front desk staff screwed up check out. And to top it off, I STILL don't have a receipt/folio from our stay, despite being assured one would be emailed to me. They probably don't want me to doublecheck the charges because they got those wrong too... Oh, and every other review that has said the parking is ridiculous? It is. I'm happy to self-park, and don't mind walking a few blocks, but the front desk staff couldn't give coherent directions (they probably don't drive) and the entry to the facility itself was so poorly marked I thought I was in someone's driveway. Leaving the facility was no easier--again, the staff failed to mention that you need both the pass they furnish you upon check in, as well as the ticket you take upon entering the parking garage. And for the money we spent... I might rather have slept in our car with the two terriers.

Yelp
We stayed several nights in Boston and we had a different hotel each night because we thought it would be fun to stay in different historic hotels. This was the absolute worst by far. The rooms are tiny and dirty. The elevator is slow and the stairwell doesn't lock to the outside because the lock was broken. So literally anyone off the street could have come into the stairs and up to our floor. There are homeless people all over around this hotel and they are allowed at night so the hotel is very noisy. The parking is far away through a terrible area. We purchased a $40 parking voucher from the hotel and it didn't work on the machine as we left. When we told them about that they said we used the wrong machine and it would have been nice if they had instructed us at the beginning. The employee was absolutely not helpful at all when we checked in and no other employees were helpful. The garbage in the lobby was overflowing on to the floor. My biggest issue with this place is there are no good restaurants nearby to walk to and the walks we did felt completely unsafe because of all the vagrants and addicts wandering around. We had 2 rooms and neither was ready when we arrived and they offered to store our luggage. When we came back we saw our luggage shoved in a corner back by the restaurant where literally anyone could have done anything with it and it wasn't being watched. This place is not safe, not friendly, not clean and not quiet.

Raquel J.

Yelp
A must place to stay. Rooms are very clean and comfy bed. They gave each adult a wine voucher and a $20 voucher towards either breakfast or dinner!!! Breakfast was yummy . The bar tender Zack was great and very friendly and made us his very yummy specialty drink - The Bullfinch breeze!!! Just what we needed on a hot day -Refreshing.

Yelp
Crap hotel. Old, tiny and claustrophobic. Feels like tenement housing. Horrible customer service. Thankfully we only stayed here one night. The hotel is in a sketchy area too. They charged us for using the minibar which we never even touched. We alerted them to this and asked them to reverse the charge and they never did. We had to dispute it with our credit card. With so many hotel options in Boston, I would be baffled if someone chose this place willingly - we certainly learned our lesson on this mistake. This place SUCKS. Read the other one star reviews ... they're all correct.

Courntey B.

Yelp
This is by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I reserved a junior suite a little over 1 month prior to my stay and even paid for it upfront to guarantee I had this room when I checked in. Day of my reservation I walked up to the front desk (this was a little after 4pm on June 25th) when I gave my name and reservation number, I was told I reserved a standard king room. I had to pull up my reservation on the phone and show them I made a reservation for a junior suite, and I had already paid for it. To my utter shock I was told they did not have any type of suites available and only the standard king was available during our stay. They blamed it on a system error and barely given any consolation for my issue. All I asked them was to reimburse the difference for the room type which they said they will do at the end of my stay. Not once did a manager on duty come to try and rectify the situation or check in on us, it was all done by the girl at the front desk who I had to ask repeatedly to speak up. The standard room was ok in size and was fairly clean, but not what we reserved. We wanted the bigger room to have space and actually use the desk, not just for storage. The major issues with the room were the following: 1. Thin walls. When I laid in bed you could hear the other guests in their room talking. The other guests did not need to yell, just talk in a normal voice and you could hear the whole conversation. 2. The bed is old and needs to be tossed out. My bed was so old you could see the indents of where other guests have repeatedly slept. You fall into one of the grooves and you are stuck there. Also, the fitted sheet kept popping off the corners of the bed. 3. The drain issue in the bathtub. The bathroom itself is small, and the toilet and sink flushed and drained just fine. However, the shower/tub would back up, so you were standing in ankle deep water the entire time you were showering. I didn't take a long shower either, 5 minutes max, I would check to see if I had accidentally pulled the stopper on, but I did not. 4. The parking (while not in the room I still feel I should include it). If you have a car avoid this hotel at all costs. They don't have a garage attached (which it does say on their website, and I knew that coming in) but the garage they are partnered with is 2 blocks away and is very expensive. The vouchers that you have to ask for (they will not give to you) only cover $40 a day. While this place is trying to be an upscale boutique hotel, it fails in every way. Nothing ever felt unique or luxurious, and the service was horrible from start to finish. Their "apology" was to send a front desk agent up to my room at 11 pm to give us a very small bottle of wine. This woke my husband and I after a long day, if you were going to do this why not do this at a more reasonable hour? When we checked out the front desk assured us, we will be refunded for the difference, but it will take 3-10 days for the refund to come through. I have yet to see the refund and now will have to deal with my credit card company to try and re-coup my losses. Never again will I stay at this hotel or any of the other hotels run by Independent Collection. Avoid at all costs unless you want to be treated worse than staying at a Motel 6.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible. Although on Google and in front of the hotel, they advertise valet parking. They do not have it. First it's such an easy amenity to have. Second people with disabilities require it as a reasonable measure so why advertise it? The front of house staff is rude and disingenuous. The management team is incompetent to say the least. The hotel itself is so-so at best. I would run over to Indigo which is two seconds away and stay there. They are amazing staff that offer family, friendly environment and all of the amenities you would expect for the price. ...

Yelp
small room for the double beds but then again it's over 100yrs old the bldg . staff very good felt welcomed had breakfast downstairs very good food . if i ever come back to beantown the boxer it is !!!!

Nico Samneil S.

Yelp
Dont have a parking garage within the hotel. They have a partner garage with the goverbment and is a walkable distance from the hotel. The receptionist will guide you if you want to avail one. It is a $40 overnight fee. The bathroom is stylish and wide in our room. We availed our room theu supertravel and i could say it is worth it since it is also a walkable distance from the TD garden. They dont offer breakfast too but has a bar on the gf

Moe B.

Yelp
Drab hotel in an even drabber part of town. Small darkly painted rooms. Mattress way too small for the platform it sits on. "Free!" soft apples at check in. Its a self described boutique hotel. It ain't a boutique hotel. Boston's ruined for me now.

Ella E.

Yelp
the front desk here is a fucking disaster and it set the tone for my stay in an abysmal place i arrived. the reservation was under my siblings name, they had called ahead to add me to it so i could sign in without them. i explain that to the person at the front desk. they inform me they don't have a record of that. i say that's odd because my sibling had literally just confirmed with me that they had put me on the res right before they got on the plane to fly into boston. i give the front desk person my id. they seemed to either not be comprehending what i was saying or just not paying attention either way it was the foggiest check in of my life. finally they checked me in put a card on file for a hold on the room for incidentals and sent me on my way. i didn't care at this point cuz i just wanted to get to the room set up the food i had brought in the mini fridge for my sibling when they got off the plane and meet my friend out in boston for the concert we were going to. i was on a time crunch. i hear a loud knock on my door. i thought that was odd because my sibling wasn't landing for another two hours and probably wouldn't get to the hotel for 3 . i look through the peephole it's the woman from the front desk breathlessly explaining they checked me into the wrong room and they would take me to my new room. When i say this has never happened to me before at any hotel i have stayed at i mean that THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE EVER. She led me down the hallway to my new room and took the old room key. She told me she'd be right back up with new room keys for me. I waited for 30 mins and felt a little uneasy about being trapped in a room with no way out but also no way back in if i left all my stuff in it. I also had plans to meet up with my friend and the clock was ticking so I went back down to the front desk to check back in and get new keys for the new room. The woman who had checked me into the wrong room was helping out other guests so I waited. The line was growing. While I was waiting a man emerged from a closet adjacent to the front desk to help. He checked me in as if I was brand new and had never been in before he said their was no record of my sibling or I. This is when i got extremely irritated because I had just checked in, provided identification and a credit card, moved my stuff into a room, then moved my stuff out of the room into a new room and just wanted keys to get into my new room. The woman who was adjacent to the man and had originally checked me in glared at me and shook her head. WHEN SHE WAS THE ONE WHO MESSED UP MY CHECK IN IN THE FIRST PLACE. I explained that I just wanted keys and was in a rush because I had plans. She rolled her eyes and checked me in again- took a card from me AGAIN, so now I had two holds for incidentals on the same fucking card. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The people who are running it are imbeciles. You should really consider rehiring people who are capable at doing their jobs.

Yelp
We were very happy we chose the Boxer. The hotel is in a great location and an easy ten minute walk to Boston Common, the North End or TD center. The Boxer is also in a really cool building and the staff was super friendly. We had a slight glitch upon arrival. We booked through the hotel for a room with two double beds as it was my wife, our daughter and myself. The Boxer over booked this type of room and gave us a large room with a king size bed and a sofa bed. Our room was really nice and had several windows giving us excellent city views on the 8th floor. The rooms are beautiful and nicely appointed. The bathroom was large with nice fixtures and an excellent shower. The rooms have a coffee machine and there are nice amenities in the bathroom and robes and slippers. Because of the mix up the Boxer gave us free breakfast vouchers for the two days we were there. I use Yelp and Trip Advisor when searching for hotels for a trip. I was very surprised at how expensive hotels were in Boston. It was really difficult to find anything downtown with good reviews for under $350.00 per night during our time period. I was able to book the Boxer for around $250.00 per night and was happy with rate for the quality of the hotel. It is in a great location as I have mentioned. We used a covered garage about 2 blocks away called the Garden Garage on Lomansey Way. This was $35.00 per 24 hours and worked out well for us as we walked everywhere from the Boxer. The hotel was immaculately clean and they had bikes for patrons use and also apples available in the lobby. There was also water with fruit in the lobby for patrons. Nice touch. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
We had a great stay here at the end of April 2018. Hotel was great, super comfortable and no complaints. The location was perfect, we could walk everywhere or to the subway to fully get around no problem. We had a great stay and would stay again. I didn't take any pic of the hotel. But we got to Fenway no problem a few times, we walked the Freedom Trail and were able to get to the start of the walk easily from this hotel. Area felt safe, there was a Dunkin Donuts nearby. Percent location, great staff and cool hotel.

Yelp
Charged me for a 8.00 bottled water even after the elevator was broke for two days. We were on the 8th floor also we had to switch rooms cause the first one smelled to bad.

Yelp
Excellent service is what I noticed above all else. The room was small but the hotel was centrally located in the city and it was easy to get everywhere. It's also a 5 min walk to the train. They had an umbrella in the room in case we needed it. So thoughtful! Their breakfast was amazing. I had the Pirate's Eye breakfast since and it was so fun and had great flavor because of a slightly sweet rum sauce. Joseph ordered his eggs over medium and was impressed that they actually were cooked perfectly when most places can't do OM eggs well. I highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
Great location, walking distance from a lot. Breakfast menu was smaller but good food and service. The front desk was helpful and they have water, lemonade, and some snacks. Overall, a comfortable stay and I'd go back!

Yelp
My team and I were in Boston for a meeting with a client and stayed at The Boxer for one night. Four of our team members checked in earlier than I did since they finished up sooner, and I met them afterwards. When I checked in I told them that I was with a group that recently checked in and that the reservation may have been under one of my co-workers' names. They told me that I needed to get permission in order to get a key into my room so I called my coworker and she gave verbal consent. it turns out that the receptionist thought that I was an additional guest with my coworker, so she sent me up to her room. I thought I was entering an empty room, but I had accidentally walked in on my co-worker. I definitely understand how this could have been confusing for the receptionist and when I went back downstairs they apologize for the confusion. But what I didn't understand was that they told me my room wasn't ready in that they needed to get it prepared for me. but if I had already had a reservation under my own name, then why wasn't my room already ready? Had they cancelled my appointment within the 10-minute span of them sending me to another room and was my room no longer in a "ready" state? Before I could go to my room they also asked that I let them have my credit card in order to charge me a daily amenities fee. I have never encountered a hotel that charged in amenities fee. Why wouldn't this just be baked into the nightly rate? This was not a charge I was made aware of and took me by surprise, especially given that I was going only going to be there to sleep for the night and would not take advantage of the amenities. the room also came with a $10 credit to the mini bar. at first I thought this was to compensate for the confusion of the room mishap, but I realize that this was offered to everyone. This was an interesting perk, not one that I've encountered before, but it does entice you to take something from the minibar and potentially more than the $10 amount, which is probably what they would want. The room itself was not bad. It was nice and quaint. myteen members all had a variety of experiences. One had a bed that was not anywhere close to an outlet, making it difficult for her to charge her phone. She also had no side tables to put anything on. she had to ask for an extension cord and they brought her literally an industrial extension cord. my other colleagues did not have any problems with their rooms or the layout or the size. In general, I also felt that the bathroom sink with extremely small so water got all around the sides of the sink. Overall the service we experience was a little bit confusing, although everyone we encountered was extremely nice and friendly.

Yelp
Great location in the west end. It's space size was fine for 2 people with each a suitcase. We did not have any problems. The rooms and shower were clean. Did not like that you had to park 7 minutes down the road and walk back through the construction. If you're from out of town, the $35 was the cheapest option. They had an umbrella and bikes available to use. The only thing that could have made it better was a cheaper rate and a microwave in the room.

Yelp
If i could give this place negative stars i would. First parking is down the street at a parking garage that is under construction and difficult to get in and out of and no shuttle to help. The hotel precharges for parking at 35.00/night that is never mentioned anywhere on their site. When we left the garage only charged 51.00 but hotel charged me 70 and the clerk was like oh well so its ok for the hotel to pocket the extra money that is not even mentioned before booking. Also i believe this is a apt not hotel because every door on our floor had 13 gal kitchen trash bags outside the door each night. Babies crying dogs barking pretty much the entire time and a constant smell of weed in the hallways. The room itself is about the size of a closet can barely get between the desk at the foot of the bed or the wall on one side of bed. The bed itself was very comfortable and that is the only positive i can say about this property. Taking a shower the body wash was empty and shampoo i would think these should he checked when cleaning the rooms. I will never stay here again nor recommend this property to anyone. Avoid the hassle and book another hotel not this one

Yelp
I stayed at this with my grandson while we explored Boston for the better part of a week. Several points, pro and con. First, the location is pretty great. It's not far from Little Italy, train stations to all points, the waterfront, etc. We walked most everywhere. Second, it is handy to have a restaurant/bar attached to the property. The staff are very friendly, helpful and responsive in both the hotel and the restaurant. Now for cons. The hotel room was quite small and not very nicely furnished. It had a mini-fridge that had not been defrosted and sorely needed to be. The frost was so built up that it made terrible sounds 24/7 which interfered with sleeping. Once I reported it (after two nights) they did come and replace it, which was helpful. The day we departed, we needed to check out early for an early morning flight but no one was on staff when we went to check out. There was a sign that said "hotel staff is helping other guests", which seemed doubtful at 4:00 in the morning. I rang the bell a couple times but no one came to help me. Not a big deal except that I needed to get a cab and was counting on hotel staff to help me with that. So we walked away in the dark in search of transportation to the airport. Overall, I'm not sorry I stayed here, but if we go back, I will likely select another hotel.

Yelp
I'd really like this to be a 5 star recommendation, but it is not. Although we enjoyed our holiday stay and I have nothing but praise for the entire staff there is a simple undeniable lack of functionality that cannot be over looked. A great location within a few blocks walk of Faniuel Hall Marketplace, the North End, North Station and other tourist hot spots this 100+ year old building has been recently renovated and has a stunning interior with detail and high end finishes. The only thing missing is size. It's not that the rooms are too small it's that our room was small, had no closets and a designer felt it was more important to display the "for sale" candy and mugs than it was to provide guest storage space. Also it was nice to find an in room Keurig coffee maker with a good selection of free pods. It was equally disappointing to find that there was only a $4 bottle of water if I wanted coffee or water. It is not uncommon for many lesser hotels to include a few bottles of spring water for the guests. Our visit was during the New Years holiday weekend and a bitter, single digit cold spell. The staff was attentive and helpful. Even with a packed house the restaurant staff was fast and welcoming. Most of all they kept the coffee and cider coming! During a brief elevator outage the front desk offered us a free breakfast to compensate for the inconvenience of using the stairs to walk up 8 floors. Kudos to the staff and the building is in a useful location. If only more thoughtful design was given to the guest rooms and provided adequate storage for our winter coats and sweaters instead of attempting to drive up mini bar sales at the expense of a frozen traveler's comfort.

Yelp
We found the service to be of a very high standard. Mark, Luckas, Bryon and Darsalle were all great and made us feel that the Boxer was our home. Very personable and attentive service. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Great location near the north end. Walk to great restaurants, Science Museum and transit. Our only problem was with the room. The bed was very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows. However, there is no place to unpack a suitcase. Only one small drawer in the bedside table and a huge drawer across the room (meant for blankets and pillows?). There are a few hangers, but the bottles and other goods for sale below, that can't be moved, make it difficult to hang things. There are no luggage racks so you have to unpack on the floor. The bumper on the bottom of the bed is impossible to avoid at night. Had an issue with the TV, but management addressed the problem.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst hotel, management and customer service I personally have ever received. No soft drinks, food, service or friendly staff. I had a staff member try to assault me for being unhappy and left this place after a one night stay due to being accused of being "racist" for being unhappy by the same a hole that wanted to fight. Mind you I am paying for this none-sense. The manager rather than apologizing treated me as if they were the only game in town and could care less. Her name is Kathleen. Believe me. She could care less about customer satisfaction or you staying there. Not to mention the room was very terrible as well. DO NOT STAY HERE. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. STAY AT THE OMNI OR THE HILTON. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT NEAR THIS PLACE AGAIN. NOR ANY OF THEIR OTHER SUBSIDIARIES. THANKS KATHLEEN FOR THE SERVICE.

Yelp
The room that we got was really not in good shape. There were scratches and markings on the walls, and there was not much space to put our things and move around. We arrived during a snow storm, but the heating system only blasted cold air until someone came to fix it. The shower, too, took a long time to warm up. For the price, this was far from worth it.

Yelp
We came to Boston for our honeymoon! Our first hotel stay was a disaster and we ended up checking out earlier to check into the Boxer for the rest of our trip. ( best decision ever ) From the minute we walked in I knew this hotel would be a game changer, I loved the fragrance smell they had throughout the hotel it was a nice touch. We were greeted by the most sweetest hotel staff, aswell as meeting the manager who took his time and talked to us as we were in the lounge having a cocktail. As we finally arrived to our room, we we walked in to be surprised we were upgraded to there suite. Taking it all in we turned to the desk to see champagne and a red velvet cake with a sweet card from the boxer staff. The room- the bed was beyond comfortable, loved the retractable tv , the body wash+ shamp/cond. weren't in those annoying travel containers, Kuireg coffee maker, plush robes and turn down service was perfect! Front desk staff.. where do I even start, I've never met such kind people who truly cared about there costumers. They were so beyond helpful with explaining where everything was at and what top things we should do and restaurants we should eat. It was so refreshing to see that from a hotel staff, we already miss y'all!! One of our days we were out roaming Boston and came back to get ready for our night out for my birthday, as we were surprised by a knock on our door from the hotel staff with a envelope. As we opened it we were shocked to see two tickets to go whale watching! Best birthday present ever and couldn't thank the Boxer team enough!! All in all if your looking for a place with a boutique feel, amazing staff, great rooms and the perfect spot in town that's walking distance from everything here is your hotel!! Thanks again Boxer Team You truly made our honeymoon!! The McClean's

Yelp
Within walking distance of Fanueil Hall, TD Garden and North End. Super convenient if you are going to an event at the Garden. Room was on the smaller size, but super clean. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating as they were able to let me check in early so I didn't have to worry about my bag all day.

Yelp
I stayed here for one night and overall a good experience. The staff was friendly upon check-in and it's really close to Boston Logan airport and walking distance to the Museum of Science. The in-room amenities were ample. I really enjoyed the Pharmacopia body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and location. It was a good choice for an old/vintage hotel. Downside: - Wish there was more to do. The biggest touristy attraction is Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. - No complimentary continental breakfast. (Dunkin Donuts is around the corner though.) - 1 elevator - Rooms are on the small side.

Yelp
the hotel is great, I'm writing this review because the bartender George is the best bartender of all time. he gave us great recommendations, very hospitable, great service overall. We will come back because we enjoyed our time so much

Yelp
The staff was great and my rating does not reflect on the wonderful concierge service, but the quality of my room. First things I noticed were stains on the comforter. Then I saw wrinkles in the bedsheets and a sloppy hotel fold--which made me feel as if they weren't cleaned/changed since the previous stay. Added to that, the shower control panel was partially detached, and the gauge at the underside (not sure what it does) swung limply--which I assume means it was broken. Looking in the drain, I saw noticeable orange, rust-like stains. The outlets on the drawer to the right side of the bed didn't work. Not cool for a $300+ per night stay though I did get it on a special. Onto the good parts: the staff are friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. They did offer to swap my room, but it wasn't worth it for my short stay. They stock L'Occitane products in the bathroom (though none of the skincare kit). The aesthetics are a fusion of classic and modern, industrial. As my first stay in a boutique hotel, I'm underwhelmed and disappointed.

Yelp
Valet was nice and convinent! Rooms were clean and comftorable! Another great thing is the location, within walking distance to the td garden and many great spots to eat/drink! Also within walking distance from the boston public market which is a unique and amazing experience in its own! Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful! Will defftinely stay there again!

Yelp
What a first rate staff at this cute hotel. The management goes out of their way to meet and greet the guests and to meet their every need. The engineer fixed an out of commission bike ASAP for us to use. The ladies at the desk were so accommodating and have gone above and beyond to make recommendations and connect us with what we wanted to do and see. The location is perfect for walking or biking to everything. We rode bikes to the gardens and The Cheers bar, then walked to the Green Dragon, the Market and to Little Italy. Today a ten min walk to the Science Museum. Additionally, the bar was open today (Thurs-Sat, due to Covid) and the drinks as well as the bartenders were excellent. I recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Boston for a short or extended stay.

Yelp
This is a great place. The rooms are very clean and well-appointed. The staff goes over-and-above to be friendly and helpful. The manager, Mitch, is a kind person who is interested in the comfort of his guests and takes good care of his staff. I also love the bar/restaurant! It's a perfect place to stay in Boston (close to tourist attractions and and an easy walk to 5 T stations).

Yelp
Great old building, great location, nice amenities, but a few drawbacks. I loved my junior suite and all the windows, and the bathroom had L'Occitane products which is always a win in my book. The mattress was comfortable and the desk was a nice size. Pretty good value for the money since I had booked a regular room but was upgraded for free. I signed up for IC Local and got a free gift of two bottles of water and a box of local artisan chocolates which was an excellent surprise in my room! A couple of things: the linens were subpar, especially for a boutique hotel. More like hospital linens, they were so rough! I also opened the fridge to grab a drink from the minibar and was met with the WORST smell, like something had died in there. I didn't see any mould but the smell was overpowering and totally put me off eating anything (I went out to grab food and drinks instead). I let the staff know as I checked out (I was just there for one night) and they seemed very surprised, though I wasn't offered any kind of compensation. The latte I ordered at Finch was also overpriced, especially since the cup was barely two-thirds full with way too much foam. Overall, I would go back, though wouldn't pay full price for the junior suite. It is a charming place and has nice perks, but I'll be eating out again for sure!

Yelp
GREAT STAY! My family was very happy with everything about the hotel. The front desk staff greeted us and all looked happy to be there. Talked with one of the kitchen chefs and the bar tender. Both gave great advice on where to go and what to look for. The location was perfect. It was close to everything. We got lucky, showing up on the weekend of the St Anthony's feast. Also, buy the coffee in the hotel restaurant. It is better than the coffee down the street @ Cuppajoes or Dunken Donuts.

Yelp
Although I didn't personally stay at The Boxer, I did make the reservation for my boss to stay here last week and he thought it was fantastic. This is a HUGE compliment from him as he travels quite often and has stayed at many 5 Star Hotels all over the world. Since I've never been to Boston, I didn't know the are very well. So when in doubt, YELP! I did my due diligent research and I kept circling back to The Boxer. I loved the quirky style that the pictures showed. I loved that it didn't look stuffy or outdated as many of the higher end hotels seem to feel. The package I chose included breakfast which as we all know is the most important meal of the day. I did notice that the rooms looked a bit small which my boss confirmed however he said the funky style and location made up for that. Although he didn't get use them, he mentioned that they have bikes you can borrow to cruise the city. The customer service at reservation, to check in and check out was seamless. I even knoticed a small mistake on the bill that they quickly took care of without question and emailed it out to me within minutes. LOVE that! Thanks Jenna!! So although I didn't get the luxury of staying here myself, I still give The Boxer 4 solid stars for excellent customer service and a very happy boss. I know he'll be back and has already recommended this hotel to his wife who travels even more than he does. And if I ever get asked about hotels in Boston, the first one that will come to mind will of course be The Boxer Boston Hotel.

Yelp
1st time trying The Boxer Hotel. Friendly, welcoming staff. Knowledgeable & professional. There's a lounge & restaurant (Bullfinch Social) inside the hotel. Both are small but have good selections & very friendly staff's. There are traditional table & chairs, hightops & a couple of very comfortable couches. The rooms are small but clean, comfortable & have everything you need. Refrigerator, tv, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, hair dryer & L'occutaine amenities. Our king bed was clean & very comfortable. Fair price. Good location & close to The Boston Garden, Quincy Market, restaurants, stores, The Freedom Trail, The North End (great Italian eateries), & and bars, including The Greatest Bar. There's no parking garage in the hotel, but there's plenty all around the area that are close. We used the Spot Hero app & got an overnight rate of $48. That's a great price, especially on a night the Bruins NHL team is playing. The hotel building reminds me of the Flat Iron building in NY city. Well worth the price. We'll be back !
