Why Eating Lionfish Helps the Cayman Islands' Ecosystem - AFAR

"While helming regional restaurants, the chef added lionfish dishes to this Grand Cayman brasserie’s offerings, using the invasive species in prepared dishes that contributed to its growing acceptance as a local, sustainable ingredient." - India-Jayne Trainor

"Eat Top-Notch Seafood at the Brasserie One way to spot the best seafood restaurants on the Cayman Islands is to see how often their menus change. When one is out of tuna but has a killer wahoo crudo, it’s because that’s the freshest catch. The Brasserie is a popular spot for its simple, fresh-off-the-boat preparations. Sample the "Brasserie Catch" tartare, crudo, or fish cakes—all made with whatever's freshest that day. By Jordyn Kraemer"

You need this in your life. We started off our evening with a complimentary champagne toast (celebrating our honeymoon). We chose to do the 5 course tasting menu. Ryan was our server. He began the journey with a tour of their incredible backyard garden with fresh herbs and vegetables. We had several different courses including a delcious tuna & delicate beef tenderloin. Everything was cooked to perfection and layered with homeade sauces and freshly picked vegetables. We were absolutely in heaven. The final course was a mouthwatering coconut dessert with an espresso martini pairing! Everything local and a true farm to table experience. Ryan was an incredible server and detailed each course as we ate. We will be back. We feel so lucky to have experienced this hidden gem!

Nice people. Don't make the mistake of coming here at lunch and expecting seating. It's a very small establishment and seat 16 people with a salad bar, a hot table with sandwiches and a coffee station. There are grab and go stations which is good but the hurried nature of the place is present. A lot of working professionals from the adjacent buildings swarm the place and probably provide a steady stream of customers. I ordered a chicken Cesar wrap. Not bad, very parmesaney in taste. The latte was good.

Very fresh, lots of local ingredients. Not a large selection for vegetarians but seafood seems to be the focus. Wonderful atmosphere and great service.

This restaurant is simply outstanding. The service, the food and wine was all top-notch. It was a short 15 minute walk from the cruise ship drop off. It offers a relaxed, casual environment that is yet very professional. Dress code is business casual including golf shirts and golf shorts. The Caribbean chicken special was simply top-notch. The Chinese vegetable soup was very tasty, full of flavor, and a bit of spice to make it very evenly balanced. The prices are moderate however it is an upscale restaurant that offers quality food, and a quality atmosphere.

This place was arguably one of the best dinners we have ever had. Everything tasted incredible and the service was top notch. I can’t even explain with words or pictures how good it was. We don’t like seafood but got chicken and steak. It was everything! We will have to go back during our trip.

Allow me to start this review off by saying this place is absolutely spectacular. The staff is so friendly, they made sure my family and I had a wonderful experience with them and never settled for anything less than perfection. I personally felt as though the best part being everything is fresh to table. They share the details behind the operation such on how they have their own garden for fresh vegetables, they own multiple bee hives across the island, they catch their own fish daily, ect. As a paying customer, I appreciate the hard work that goes into making the food as best as possible. For appetizers, we ordered the tomato and burrata salads along with the grilled cheeses which were made beautifully. For dinner, I ordered the 8 oz beef tenderloin and it was delicious. Not only is the food great, the drinks are too. I ordered a coconut mojito and for dessert I had an espresso martini paired with the gelato sundae (which is also amazing, highly recommend!!) In conclusion, I had a great experience dining with them and hope to again before I leave Grand Cayman!!

Favorite place while on Grand Cayman! They nailed 5 out of 5 plates. Good balance, fresh, and flavorful. Apps: Papaya salad had so many good veggies and wasn’t overdressed. Fish Cakes were nice and crispy, dipping aioli was a nice complement Entrees: Seafood pasta was the best I’ve had in a while. Homemade pasta, high quality chunks of seafood, and proper amount of lobster cream sauce. Seared tuna was Asian flavors and really enjoyable. Dessert: bread pudding was the name but it was similar to a lava cake and sticky toffee pudding. LOVED IT. *Wine list had some great stuff on it but we didn’t order from it.

Outstanding experience. Food was incredible, service was excellent. They have a garden in the back where they grow ingredients that make their way into the dishes. Doesn't get any more fresh than that.
