Always an excellent choice for breakfast! Lotsa Tots are my go to (with cheese vs sausage gravy). Pancake of the month is usually good, too (June was Pineapple Upside Down Cake). No cost 2 hour parallel street parking is available, but there's a parking ramp across the street, too. Usually busy, so expect a bit of a wait. It goes pretty fast.

Breakfast burger and hash browns 4* Pancakes 4* Bacon, egg and toast 3* Vegetable omelet 2* I was not expecting canned mushrooms. Those were hard to eat. Also I prefer real eggs. Plus I asked for pepper jack cheese and was given American cheese instead. This restaurant has a cool 80's theme. You can also play Ms Pac-Man or Galaga, which is fun.

A Gen Xer’s dream! Loved all the memorabilia and nods to my formative years! The small details are what made me smile - the menu item names, the posters in the restrooms, the music and 90s movie playing on a small screen on DVD no less! Hubs and I enjoyed challenging each other to the 80s trivia left on our table while we waited for our food. (I won!) Service was amazing and food was really good! We shared the “Those aren’t pillows!” biscuits and gravy 😆 and a Western omelette. No complaints - food was hot and delicious. Not to mention inexpensive! Our total bill was $25 with sodas. I smiled ear to ear the entire time and can’t wait to return for a little flash back to my childhood!

Very good breakfast food! Stopped in on Free Bacon Friday's (purchase of Bloody Mary req'd). I had the corned beef with potatoes, onions, and green peppers. The corned beef was so tender! Loved it!

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! This is a true American diner serving up some amazing dishes. The place is decorated with 80s and 90s memorabilia, and videos from those times are playing constantly. The menu provides classic dishes with a twist. Great spot for breakfast and lunch. Staff was attentive, and the food was great! It was extremely affordable! This place was one of the highlights of my visit to La Crosse. Two thumbs up 👍🏾 👍🏾!

Best French toast I have ever had!! My young family of 5 (kids age 6,4,&2) enjoyed not only lunch there this last Saturday but we loved it so much we came back for breakfast on Sunday at 7 am while visiting La Crosse. Wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. They have magic 8 balls, Rubik's cubes, and coloring pages for the littles. My kids loved the waffles, chicken bites, and the fresh fruit off the “little yolks” menu. I enjoyed the French toast the first time and the biscuits and gravy the next morning. My husband had the chicken fried steak the first day and an omelet the second. Everything was delicious! Price was amazing!! Highly recommend! We’ll be back again!!

My boyfriend and I went here for brunch and it has the best atmosphere! The food is really good and reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be coming again.

As someone born in the 1970's this place was great!! What a fun blast from the past. The decor was spot on and brought back so many fun memories! The whole place was very interactive from the 1980's shows they were playing on the tv, the trivia, the cleaver menu names, it was all a great time! Oh AND I enjoyed the food (Reuben omelet?!?....loved it!) and the service was good as well (they even they dressed the part!!) If you are looking for something fun and different, this is a great place to check out!

Yelp
So here I am again two years later and this restaurant has turned the tables on me. We were a party of seven and we ordered an abundance of food. All the dishes came out at the same time. It was delicious from the French toast to the steak and eggs to the burgers, and boneless chicken wings. They have a full bar and we ordered a Bloody Mary and it was accompanied by a beer chaser and it hit the spot. We ordered hot chocolate for the kids and I took a sip surprisingly it was delicious so I ordered one for myself. This small quaint restaurant was setting a new standard for delectable delicious dishes and our wait staff was friendly and attentive. You can forget ambience because the restaurant has no character but what it lacked in character it made up for it 100x over in the service and the food!!! So overall this place was amazing compared to my experience two years ago. The icing on the cake is 4 adults and 3 children ate for under 100.00 bucks! In a world of big companies and corporate greed support this small business your palate will thank you!

Yelp
Came here on a weekday, I've never been before, so I was excited to get some breakfast food for lunch. The atmosphere had a cool retro vibe, a throw-back to the 80s, and had a fun, kitschy decor. We ordered the breakfast curds to share, and I ordered the chicken fried steak as my main (with scrambled eggs, hashbrown, wheat toast, gravy on the side). The curds were pretty tasty, they had bacon in it, and it was served with a side of maple syrup. I'm not a fan of the whole sweet and salty combo, but the curds were still good on their own. I wish I enjoyed the chicken fried steak as much as the curds though. First off, I asked for gravy on the side, but my plate came with gravy already slathered on my steak. I was willing to overlook this mistake because the presentation looked very appetizing, and I was ready to eat. Unfortunately, the steak and gravy were bland, both lacked any seasoning. The breading was way too thick for a chicken fried steak. The steak inside was a bit grisly as well, which in addition to the thick batter made it very hard to cut and eat. The steak was so dense I couldn't even finish it. My scrambled eggs were overcooked and flat, almost crepe-like. It was as if they poured the beaten egg onto a flat top griddle and didn't even bother to scramble the eggs as they were cooking. The hashbrowns and toast were standard, nothing special. The service was casual but very friendly and portion sizes were generous. Because this place is located in downtown, you will need to find street or public parking. Weekends can get crowded, so it is best to come during the week to avoid long wait times. Overall, my experience was okay, ambiance and service were good, but food was mediocre at best.

Micah K.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place has such a mediocre Yelp reputation. Everything I experienced was excellent. The wait was a little long but it was a Saturday morning and that's understandable. But everyone was friendly and once seated, eager to help. The vibe in the place is obviously very 80s-90s Rat Pack themed but it's done well with some cool graphics, posters, movies, and themes. Who doesn't love the nostalgia? The food was excellent. Great portions, piping hot, and unique twists on classic dishes. They take greasy spoon items up a notch and that is a good combo in my opinion. Everything I experienced on this visit was nothing but worthy of five stars. Thank you!

Kaye C.

Yelp
Such a cute place to have breakfast! The French toast was excellent and the chicken and waffles was enormous. Our server was very professional and sweet.

Monica S.

Yelp
Generous portions of delicious food. Attentive service. Fair pricing. Great 80's atmosphere. Great experience. Definitely recommend!

William S.

Yelp
We were looking for a good place to eat that was close to LaCrosse Convention Center. This place was about a block away and who isn't always up for an all day breakfast place? Walking in and you knew you stepped back into the late 80's/90's era!! Very cool decor and clean. Greeted by a kind waitress/hostess that immediately seated us. Our waitress took our drink orders immediately after we were seated. Coke products....so I had my usual, glass of water. I'm very picky about my soft drinks, Pepsi products or Sun Drop are my preference. She took our order promptly. Within 15 minutes we were served our piping hot meal. I ordered the breakfast burger and it was cooked to perfection, including an easy over egg!!! Great flavor and I didn't even use Heinz ketchup. Overall a full place to go, they even have music videos playing.

Bill H.

Yelp
Great service, nice pancakes, but I was not thrilled with my scrambled eggs, which tasted like they'd been scrambled yesterday afternoon. My bacon was far from greasy, tasted almost like pork jerky! The coffee was great!

Bonnie W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere to go along with amazing food. It is my go to place when I am in the area.

Brooke R.

Yelp
Such a fun atmosphere. Great service, 80s trivia at table, delicious food and drinks! Highly recommend.

R. S.

Yelp
Absolutely loved breakfast here. Friendly efficient servers. Wonderful ambiance. Busy local crowd. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Great all around.

Regina J.

Yelp
Well, I had the farmers Ted breakfast and added the pancakes. Everything was perfect. So much that I made sure I ate it all. My bacon was crispy like I asked for. Now, this may not sound like a big deal, but my hashbrowns were nice and hot and perfectly cooked. Pancakes was nice and hot, where it melted my butter!!! Oh, and my eggs cooked just right for fried hard!!! Awesome atmosphere and great service!!!

Geoff P.

Yelp
So, the ambience is kitschy-you'll either love it or hate it. I enjoyed the 80s quotes on the walls and throw back decor, so count me as a fan. We were there right as they opened, so I was a bit surprised our table was... sticky, and not just a little sticky. I'm not sure if that was leftover goop from the previous night or just the residue from their cleaning products, but it was definitely off-putting. Overall, the service was solid and our food was pretty good pub breakfast food. I'm sure there's higher-quality breakfasts in La Crosse, but this is good for a fast, cheap breakfast. I debated a lot between 3 or 4 stars, but the sticky table pushed it down to 3.

Sarah E.

Yelp
Great prices & fun throwback to some of my favorite childhood movies. Everything is John Hughes themed, even the menu. Great prices, too. Be prepared for a wait though. They don't take reservations, or call ahead but they will put you on the list & text you once your table is ready. I had the stuffed French toast with a side of sausage, hubby had the ole 96er. Everything was delicious, I couldn't even finish all my French toast. Only downside is because they're so busy, there is a wait for the food. The server apologized to us more than once because of that. It still came out hot & fresh but took almost a half an hour. It was good we didn't have to be anywhere.

Robert W.

Yelp
The Breakfast Club and Pub is quite an interesting establishment in La Crosse, Wisconsin and no doubt, a local favorite. We went in on a Sunday morning and there was about an 40 min wait for a table of 3 despite the restaurant being pretty large. The wait is no problem though, as they set it up so you receive a text when your table is ready. The interior is very unique and a big throwback to mid-late 20th century. There are "retro" posters hanging everywhere including movie posters from Ferris Bueller's Day Off and many others of the sort. The place is a fun atmosphere and "kitschy", I enjoyed the nice throwback. The menu is expansive and offers a huge selection of breakfast and lunch foods from pancakes to chicken wings to poutine, as well as a large selection of drinks including many tap beers and cocktails. I ordered the Eggs Benny for myself and shared some Buffalo wings and Over the Edge Cameron Fries with my friends. The big positive of this restaurant: I've never seen a restaurant this cheap. A brunch for 3 with apps and drinks cost us only about $35. All the prices on the menu even included tax if I recall correctly. The downsides: the food is not the best quality which makes sense considering you paid next to nothing for it. The eggs Benedict was mediocre at best, the Holland sauce tasted very artificial, and the ham was not very good. Hashbrowns were super yummy though. The fries would be pretty good "drunk food" although we weren't drunk, we did they appreciate their take on poutine. The Buffalo wings were bad. They were boneless which we didn't even know when we ordered, and they came drenched in some of the saltiest Buffalo sauce possible. Would not recommend. Overall, a decent breakfast bite and for some of the best prices I've ever seen. This place is a still fun brunch with friends!

Yelp
In town visiting our son at college and saw this spot on Yelp with decent reviews. When we arrived, there was a line out the door so we figured we would wait seeing that it was Sunday and we'd more than likely wait anywhere else. It was nice that we were able to wait in our car since they text when the table was ready. Our wait time was 15 minutes longer than quoted but no biggie as we were hungry and not in a rush. Once seated we waited and waited some more. We watched one of the two servers clean and turn over four tables and the other greet new customers but never were we acknowledged. After 12 minutes, another group noticed how long we were sitting without being greeted nor having been offered a beverage and said something to the hostess. When out waitress finally came by, there was no acknowledgment of the wait, nor smile. We gave her our full order. Then we waited another 5 minutes before she brought back coffee. The coffee tasted like a stale pack of Newports. The cinnamon roll came out right away. Thank God since we were starving. It was decent. Not the best we've had but not bad. Then more waiting. Nearly 40 minutes before our breakfast cane out. My daughter's pancakes tasted "off". Mind you we have a fantastic eater who almost never complains about her food...certainly not pancakes. Hubby tried them and confirmed there was a weird aftertaste. My medium rare steak came out well done but for as long as we waited I was not going to send it back. The rest of the meal was ok. Certainly not great and definitely not worth the wait. Now we are off to find a Starbucks so we can properly caffeinate. Next trip to LaCrosse we will look elsewhere for a weekend breakfast.

Lori M.

Yelp
Food and service were wonderful. The ambience brought back our high school days. My husband and I had a great time watching the old music videos and DVDs playing from our childhood.

Andrew M.

Yelp
Throwback to when I was a kid! Service was good. Food was good. AND the restaurant had some killer ambience...suggestion: check it out!

Jessie T.

Yelp
The food here was good, standard diner fare. My friends and I had a large group, and they were kind enough to put tables together so we could all sit together.

Liz M.

Yelp
Great customer service from out waiter! I ordered the chicken fried steak which looked over cooked, was bland and was a complete a complete disappointment. It was bland and greasy. My hash browns were extremely over cooked unedible. My highlight was the appetizer. I ordered the breakfast cheese curds w/ maple syrup and they were heavenly. Tasted like French toast. I would come back and order/try something different because I might've possibly ordered the wrong item. My friend liked her omelette... coffee was weak.

Samantha B.

Yelp
Really unique menu - I tried pancakes stuffed with yogurt and topped with fruit and granola. The restaurant is 80's themed which makes it super fun. They also have daily specials, including $1 off mimosas on Saturday *pro-tip*. It's right downtown La crosse so you should be able to stumble back to your hotel if needed.

Brydie G.

Yelp
Great biscuits and gravy and omelets. The waitress is spectacular for being the only one in there with 10 tables. But the downside is she is literally running to get orders taken and delivered and you feel like you shouldn't ask her for anything for fear she may collapse. I was anxious just watching her. Tip the waitress well-She's very friendly but needs a pair of roller skates and someone to help her out.

Melanie Z.

Yelp
Stopped here while staying in la crosse it's definitely your classic greasy spoon cafe but hey they serve big portions beer and bloody Mary's so I'm in

Shelby D.

Yelp
Very fun place and super nostalgic! The all American food is really good and the owner is a sweetheart

Troy G.

Yelp
Good was so good and the staff was kind and even let me know that there special of the day I could get free toppings on my French toast witch I had to try I like French toast but with these toppings I am blown away

Todd H.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place was the shit. You want to feel as if you are eating among John Hughes and his movies? Come to this place for breakfast. The food was breakfast food. Or as some call it Break-Fast food. It was good and worth the 45 minute wait. Put your name in, shop downtown, and then come back when they text you saying your 80s table is ready. Do yourself a favor and order the Breakfast Cheese Curds. Don't you forget about me.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
La Crosse Wi. Can't wait to go back when we're in Wisconsin. Ordered a cheese omelette with onions. It was the nice thin rolled omelette style that is my favorite. We also ordered the Ruben omelette. Amazing. Will remember to order an extra side of thousand island next time. Mom had the Benedict and said the eggs were cooked perfectly. Waitress remembered our order the second time we went in this week. Didn't catch her name but she's efficient, sharp and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Jen E.

Yelp
Great breakfast food! Super nice wait staff! I would definitely recommend this place for a good breakfast!

Dashaun W.

Yelp
As you approach the restaurant, there a door marked for entry and a separate one for exit. The restaurant is U shaped so that makes sense. The initial side has several booths and some tables and chairs in the middle. It appeared that they could've added some tables and chairs to accommodate more guests but that would negatively impact the service so it's great they haven't. After walking to the rear there's an opening to get to the other side that has more tables and a long bar to sit at. As you walk through the restaurant it's filled with photos and nostalgic memorabilia from the 89s and 90s. Some tvs show videos that correspond with the music playing throughout the restaurant. The music is also of this era. Some tvs show movies from this era. There's a lot going on in here but it was fitting for the era. The menu was cleverly era fitting as well. I sat at the bar and talked with the bartender about bar hopping the night before and later that night (New Years Eve). She assured me that the bars would be packed but neglected to mention they'd be open until 6 am. Getting back in topic, I ordered the chicken & waffle kabob and a side of home fries. Sadly my food was slightly below lukewarm. There's no way it was under a warming lamp. I'm not the type to send it back, and my hangover craved substance over quality, so down it went. The more I ate the colder it got. I did hear a fun fact about a kid that's a regular who gets the chicken and waffle kabob and he eats it like corn on the cob. Wild right? The kabobs come with 8 waffle quarters and a half pound of boneless chicken chunks. Syrup, butter, and honey separate the two kabobs. The only caveat was the temperature of the food. The chicken and waffles were good and would've been better if they were warm. As for the home fries, no one like a cold potato and if you do you're more wild than that kid I mentioned earlier. Overall, I would return because everyone deserves a second chance but I wouldn't recommend.

Cheeto M.

Yelp
If your into the 80s/90s era this is the place for you. The food and drinks are great here. While you enjoy your meal also enjoy a blast in the past listening to 80s/90s music or films. This great pub also looks out for its customers by having gluten free items as well.

Dominic T.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Great vibe with the 80's theme and John Hughes movies atmosphere. The food is amazing! Seated right away and orders taken promptly. I love biscuits and gravy, and these were some of the best I've ever had. Breakfast sandwich was delicious and filling. Our server was friendly and attentive, but also gave us our space.

Bea K.

Yelp
This is a very fun place. Our waitress was wonderful. The pancake of the month was pineapple upside down. When I wanted to try it but also knew I should get a more sensible veggie choice, she told us I could swap toast for a pancake for $2... Sold!! The pancake was interesting and I did like it, but certainly much sweeter than I wanted for my whole breakfast. I enjoyed the Florentine Omelette with tater tots that were hot and crispy, while my friend got the Florentine Benedict... hers surprisingly had raw spinach while mine had been sautéed. I would have liked a few more veggies but it was a great breakfast!

Lance M.

Yelp
We ate at The Breakfast Club last weekend. It was very good and highly recommend. Get the donut holes as an appetizer. I think they do them in 6 or 15. Do yourself a favor and go with the higher quantity. You will be disappointed if you don't. All 4 of us got something different for the main course and everyone was very satisfied. I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again when we go back to the area.

Keith W.

Yelp
This place was great! It has a table dining side and a bar side, I sat on the bar side where Groundhog Day was playing. The place was littered with pics and posters of movies from my childhood like the breakfast club, home alone, and spaceballs. It has an old diner feel to it, I loved how they were also playing old school 80's music of all genres as well. I don't remember the hostesses name but she was great too, kept my coffee full and didn't bother me in a way that was annoying. I ordered the corned beef hash and man was it hot, fresh and delicious. I wish this could lace was here in California, I'd make it a staple for me! Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did!

Brandon W.

Yelp
This was the only place I could find close to my hotel that served breakfast. The decor was very fun and the restaurant was very clean. I was sat very fast and my order came out just as fast. They have a great menu and friendly staff to match the environment.

Patty w.

Yelp
I thought the steak was chewy , couldn't even eat it, hashbrown were over cook, waste of money

Joanna T.

Yelp
If you enjoy breakfast, John Hughes movies (who doesn't TBH?) and 80's videos playing, the Breakfast Club is your place. They serve breakfast/lunch/brunch only but also have a giant bar with a rotating list of interesting beers. The menu offers cleverly named plates (The Farmer Ted), burgers (The Bender Burger) and "What's Happening Tot Stuff" poutines. I opted for a Farmer Ted because I love Sixteen Candles (Jake Ryan....) and I also enjoy a classic American breakfast. For less than $9, you'll get 2 eggs, a breakfast meat, a potato option and toast. I opted for over medium eggs which were cooked very well, along with tater tots because duh, tots, along with sausage patties. My sausage and toast both arrived fairly burnt but my dining partner had to suffer undercooked flabby bacon and mealy hash browns. Definitely a-ok, not great - but a fun place to relive the glory days of puffy hair, pleated pants and other delightful fashion choices.

Rich Y.

Yelp
Great food, great service, and how can you not like watching ACDC Thunderstruck while eating breakfast...Seriously! I The corned beef hash and eggs were made to order.

Matthew M.

Yelp
We ate here over Oktoberfest weekend. The food and service was excellent. When we left my daughter accidentally left behind her favorite stuffed animal. When I called the restaurant the manager was incredibly kind in sending it back to us in Chicago with a funny note too. It was a wonderfully generous thing for him to do and shows how nice these folks are!

Deb B.

Yelp
The service was very slow. The food was subpar especially considering the wait time from the order. Ambiance was fun- but the place needs a refresh.

Ed C.

Yelp
Great vibe. Great food. Love the atmosphere and the service is excellent. Hard to pay attention to on to the food when there is so much fun entertainment history.

John F.

Yelp
What a great 80's Flashback! Huey Lewis and the News playing in the background while The Breakfast Club is playing on the TV! Mathew Broderick (Save Ferris) and Molly Ringwald (among others) memorabilia all over the walls. Place wants me to ask Mr. Vernon "will milk be made available to us?" Or if he knows that Barry Manilow raids his wardrobe! (Sorry... huge Breakfast Club nerd)! Lots of clever names to the food, like the "Kevin Bacon Bones". Or the "Those aren't pillows" biscuits and gravy! And the food is good! Corned Beef Hash was great and I really loved the sourdough toast. College kids: if you don't get this place, at least take your parents here when they visit! They will love it!

Amantha F.

Yelp
Haven't tried this place in a few years because the food just isn't good. We went in yesterday for the first time in a LONG time. Had tough chewy pancakes. How do you even make pancakes dry and chewy... like a pancake jerky?!? Also had really bad waffles. Then the bacon cheesecurds were overcooked outside and almost like an undercooked batter on the inside. Bloody Mary's not bad. Husband's Rueben Omlet was fine. Chicken on the Chicken and Waffles was tasty. Just cannot figure out how you mess up pancakes and waffles??? Once again the food here is just not good. Service was fine, though.

Mark P.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because it has great atmosphere. The food here is all kind of awful; I mean bad even by diner standards. I love diners because some of the best food can be found at diners. However, this place doesn't have anyone that can cook - not even basic breakfast things! OMG, if you are going open a breakfast place, at least learn basic cooking skills. EVERYTHING from eggs, hash browns to pancakes are awful; and that's strange because a lot of food is "Sysco" prefab food. I had their eggs Benedict and I've never had hollandaise so awful. It had the constancy of jello, and weird rank smell and taste like dirty dish water. I didn't finish it, and still 25 minutes later I ended up throwing up. Everything, that came out was cooked wrong and had no seasoning. Here's a tip if you own a restaurant, get a cook or learn to cook.

Duane B.

Yelp
Totally Tubular! Pure nostalagia! Burghertime in a cabinet! Album covers, Movie posters! Great food and service. Ask about the special on pancakes. It was lemon poppyseed for us. Bring back the big hair bands! In the area and want breakfast? Rock on down to The Breakfast Club!

Layla s.

Yelp
Ate here with some friends after staying in the Radisson hotel nearby. We put our name down and went to shop downtown for the exactly 30 minute wait to be seated. We ordered our food and got our drinks right away. We waited 40-45 minutes for our food. When it came out it was lukewarm and my order was incorrect. It was fixed quickly but still a bummer after a 40 minute wait. Our waitress was nice enough but not terribly attentive. We had empty cups for most of our time there. We aren't a fussy group but none of us were terribly impressed. The vibe of the restaurant was neat if you're into old 80s kitsch and our bloody Mary's were delicious! I do caution ordering the bloodys if you don't like spicy! Prices were generally fair. Overall it was just ok. I would not feel the need to come back after this experience.

barry k.

Yelp
Not bad, not great, yet satisfying. A week staying in LaCrosse and they had the best breakfast in that timeframe of places we tried.

Regg P.

Yelp
I love this place! Best breakfast food I have ever had!!! Waitresses Cheyenne and Alycia was awesome! Best time I've had in a long time!

Kathy J.

Yelp
Food was good, no chaser with the Bloody Mary (come on, it's Wisconsin! Where's the Miller shorty or 7 oz Spotted Cow?!) and the ambiance disappointing after the hype on the website. But the service was friendly and we got to watch Ferris Bueller while we ate.

Gary S.

Yelp
Very nice! I was at this place a little while ago, probably a couple of months now. I couldn't sleep and I needed coffee. This place was down the road from my hotel, so I made the trek in the snow. The whole place is decorated out of the 80's'. It was like totally awesome!! I ordered some coffee and got steak and eggs for breakfast. The coffee was hot and fresh, and so was the food! The staff was very friendly and they kept the coffee refilled!
