Cool casual eatery/bar in Ybor City that claims to make all their items in house except for the bread.
Visited on 1-11-19 at 6PM. Finding a parking spot was difficult as there is street parking only and about 8 coveted spots within a 25 foot radius of the place. $39.76 got us one adult entree, two appetizers, and two sides. Service was fast and friendly. The ambiance is what I would call "broken-in-hipster" because the brick walls and industrial features probably looked very cool 10 years ago but now it just feels comfortable.
I had the $8 bricklayer nachos which came with corn tortilla chips, pickled jalapenos, queso, salsa, and a black bean/corn relish. If they're gonna claim they make everything in house I'll go ahead and pick em' apart and say these chips were from a bag. The salsa was watery and made the middle section of chips soggy and cold. Not something I would order again but it wasn't horrible. It's really hard to f*ck up nachos.
My dear sweet beloved husband had the $15 "tuna BLT" sandwich which came with lightly seared raw tuna, bacon, swiss, tomato, mixed greens, honey mustard, and toasted hawaiian bread. He got to choose one side and he chose the quinoa which is cold and under seasoned. He said the tuna was room temperature, had no seasoning, thick cut, and pretty much the same texture as all the other ingredients in the sandwich so it was like eating a raw mushy fishy meatball. He started gagging about halfway through the sandwich but we are not the type of people to complain. He choked it down.
For the kiddo we ordered a side of mac n' cheese and a side of fruit since this place ostentatiously doesn't have a kid's menu. The macaroni was under cooked and very dry. If there was any cheese sauce to begin with I don't know where it went. But the pineapples and blueberries were fresh and delicious.
If you're a burgeoning 20-something who just happens to be walking down the street and you get a hankering for a craft cocktail and some hummus you're gonna love this place. I, however, am a skeptical suburban mom and while I can appreciate what they're doing here, I did not enjoy the food and would not go back. I'm too old for this shit.
