Nice hotel , great location to bars, restaurants & supermarkets. If your room faces the river be prepared for noise as a lot of out door dining and drinking across from the hotel. The rooms are warm. We had windows open as prefer not to use air con if possible. Stayed room only. Stayed for 4 nights. 2 is probably enough . The bed was a bit soft for my liking but the house keeping staff are very good and bar and reception staff very friendly. I would stay again but 2 days is enough .

Fabulous hotel, great staff who actually treat the guests with respect (unlike lots of other hotels) and go out of their way to help. Lovely room with nice touches such as complimentary wter and biscuits and wonderful toiletries. Breakfast was also excellent - lots of choice - hot breakfast, cold selection of meats/cheeses plus pastries and cereal. I recommend the Bircher museli which was amazing!

Fantastic location ( 15 min walk from the train station). Dog friendly ( but you cannot use the bar area or restaurant with your dog). There were a bag of treats, drinking bowl and food bowl ,as well as a big dog bed and two mats. Our dog really felt at home! Breakfast is amazing. So many vegan options, such as sausages, hash browns etc. Staff are very friendly ( especially the breakfast staff). Things to improve on: have complimentary water in the room and ensure the dog bed is fully clean. We had a lovely stay and our dog felt very settled too!

Yet another very good stay in The Bristol. The staff are really good. A massive thank you to Sabrina and Roman on Reception. Their eatery suggestions were spot on, and we were truly grateful for their service on our room upgrades particularly as the hotel was very busy. The bar/restaurant/house cleaning staff are, as always, very nice and so helpful. They really have it right. The hotel position is perfect. Car parking next door with hotel access was easy. £18/day. The only downside is the shower over baths which is more a personal preference thing. This visit, being later in the year, was a lot more noisy if you open the windows at night but that goes with it’s central location really.

Overall a great hotel, the service is very good (extra nod to the bar staff). A one star deduction from me due to 2 factors, the bed, although it looks great, gave me the worst muscle pain I had in a long time. The pillows disappear as soon as you put your head down. Second, it would be great to have some non pork meat at breakfast, I know it’s the UK, but having some chicken or turkey as an option would be great for many.

Outstanding Stay in a Perfect Location We had a wonderful experience at this hotel, which is perfectly located for exploring the area. A special shout-out to Sabrina at the reception, who made our stay even more enjoyable. She was incredibly friendly, professional, and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Her local recommendations for attractions and places to visit were spot-on, and her suggestion to add breakfast to our booking turned out to be a fantastic choice – it was absolutely delicious. Sabrina is a true asset to the hotel, and her warm welcome really set the tone for our stay. Highly recommended!

The Bristol Hotel is superbly located to enjoy the city. The service delivered from all staff was exceptional and you can tell that the Management Team focus heavily on training the guest experience. Parking was easy and whilst not the cheapest, offers security and easy access

Google
Location and service were both fantastic. The communal areas on the ground floor, check in area, bar and restaurant were all very nice, & staff we all great, & the drinks/food consumed on site were great as well. Unfortunately the rooms, although spacious were just a tad dated and in need of some tlc. They were however clean and had plenty of amenities to suit needs. There is secure parking on site at £18/24hr period which is fair for the location. The price we felt for the hotel taking everything into account was very good value.

Yelp
The Bristol Hotel won't win awards for the most imaginative name, or its architecture - it's firmly in the 1970s concrete family - but it's very comfortable and has a wonderful position between Prince Street and Narrow Quay, with views across the spur of the Floating Harbour which reaches up to Broad Quay. Owned by the Doyle Group, the hotel has been completely modernised inside and the rooms are very spacious and light (lots of biege), albeit many open onto the internal court - if it's important to you, ask for a room overlooking the harbour. The rooms seem well equipped, with free broadband access, trouser press and ironing board, plenty of wardrobe space and a nice range of bathroom toiletries. The only downers are that the bathrooms can be a little small, and I'm not keen on the modern style of bed arrangement, where you end up with loads of pillows and cushions and a bedspread, all of which have to be re-arranged before you can actually get into bed. But it was all spotlessly clean. The location is perfect: far enough from the centre to be quiet, but adjacent to lots of the sights, such as Queen's Square, the Harbour, the Arnolfini Gallery and the Cathedral. It's also a minute from the central ferry-taxi stop, from where you can gate a ferry to the SS Great Britain. (You can walk there in ten minutes). There's an NCP car park next door which guests can use - ask for a voucher at reception. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, although colleagues who ate in the hotel's restaurant seemed to have enjoyed their meal. It has the standard buffet breakfast - perfectly OK, but nothing special. Reception service was exceptionally fast and helpful, including check-out - always a good sign. The rack rate is around £80 per room, or £90 including breakfast for two people. Doubtless you could find cheaper deals, which would provide great value.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to my stay at The Bristol Hotel this was my first trip away from London in a while, the TripAdvisor reviews were really good and I have stayed in good hotels before so I expected my experience at The Bristol Hotel to be top-notch, especially with regards to all the great reviews it has. I wish I had not paid attention to the reviews. Mind you, it is not horrible but it is certainly not an experience as one is led to believe, it failed to deliver on several levels. The reception area is very nice, the check-in was straightforward and I was given a harbour-side room. When I entered the room I was greeted by an unpleasant, musty smell and a carpet that was covered with stains. My 'harbour view' was a bit of water glinting through the trees and the plug in the sink did not work. Altogether, the room was not very inviting and I did not feel at home. The bathroom was small and there was not even a towel rail, the towels were kept under the sink. The desk surface was smudged and one of the glass lamps had a stain (of coffee? Or perhaps blood?) on it, which was nicely reflected on the glossy bedside table top. If I saw it at once the hotel staff should have seen it and cleaned the lamp. The last straw was discovering that I had what seemed to be a hatch leading to attic space in the room and there was a big water stain around it. The door to the hatch was warped and did not fit properly. First impressions: no effort was made to wow first time visitors, the room was quite shabby and I had been expecting a lot more. So I went downstairs and asked for a new room. This was promptly dealt with but when I asked if there were really no other harbour-side rooms the receptionist said no and although she was polite her face said 'not that discussion again!' Off to my new room this one had a much more favourable colour scheme and was altogether much more inviting. The carpet was clean. The smell of room freshener was overpowering. The bathroom had a towel rack! The storage space for clothes was very modest, only one shelf and a rack to hang things on. I preferred to keep my belongings in my suitcase. Once again, there were signs of neglect the drain in the bath was clogged; I was standing in water up to my calves when I showered and part of the desk was damaged. Ideally, things like this should be repaired at once or else a hotel will quickly become run down. From what I saw The Bristol Hotel is on its way to becoming run down very soon if it does not work harder to e.g. keep carpets clean and fix things if they are broken. The breakfast was ok no more and no less, with a selection of food that is standard for any hotel from 2 stars upwards. I was shown to my table in the very nice breakfast area and asked the standard questions, i.e. if I wanted tea or coffee and what kind of toast. By the time I had returned to my table the tea had been served but there was no sign of the toast. Fifteen minutes later and I had to ask a member of staff to get some toast for me, which he promptly did. There was only honey and no jam on my table and when I asked a member of staff for some jam he just went to an empty table and brought me one jar no selection of jams for me! When I went back to my room the door key did not work so I had to go back down to reception. Yes I was checking out that day but check out time is 12 noon and it was just 9am. I was assured that my card would now work and went back upstairs only to discover that the card still refused to unlock my door. Fortunately, a member of the cleaning staff was kind enough to let me in my room and thus spare me a further trip to reception. While checking out, I asked a member of reception about the best way to get a bus to a nearby city. The reply was that I would have to walk down to the bus station (a 15 minute walk) and ask there. Not really the service I would expect from an exceptional hotel and when I replied that my question had not really been answered the receptionist spent a few minutes trying to figure out which bus I could take from a stop that is perhaps not a 15 minute walk away. After a while I realised that it was going nowhere, gave up and walked to the train station, where a member of staff was glad to help me. Now mind you, all of the above are ultimately minor mishaps but I have stayed in many hotels where I had not one of the above issues, i.e. the rooms were in good order, breakfast was excellent, staff was very helpful and there was a concierge to help with any queries. What I am most disappointed about is how The Bristol Hotel failed to live up to the standards set by the many rave reviews on TripAdvisor. I am really disappointed because I was looking forward to a wonderful stay in a lovely hotel. Maybe I just had an isolated bad experience or have been to better hotels than my fellow reviewers. Either way, the reason I am giving this hotel such a poor rating is not because it is

Yelp
I cannot recommend this hotel. I have not stayed there but I just walked past it and somebody managerial called me a pedo. They appear not to be very professional there.

Yelp
I've stayed at The Bristol a couple of times now and for me it's all about location, location, location. a 10 minute walk from Temple meads station and overlooking the Shed and harbourside, it's perfect to get in and out if you're only in town for a couple of nights, while also wanting to stay right in the middle of where all the action is happening. The hotel itself is well decorated in a modern style, with complimentary wifi throughout and satellite tv in all rooms. There's a free gym onsite and they provide free newspapers in the lobby each morning. If you can get a good deal on a night here then make sure stay at the Bristol, the No 1 Harbourside bar across the road on the harbour is where I'd recommend going for food and drinks.

Yelp
Just reviewed in the Daily Telegraph. True, it is a dreadful looking building. OUR LAST VISIT. Good room, comfy bed, with great views of the floaty harbour. Poor weather during our stay, but still impressive aspect. Shower room only, but, increasingly, baths are seen as redundant by hoteliers. Breakfast is relaxed and the pleasant staff skillfully ask if you would like tea or coffee and serve hot toast to your preference. Room service is the same as the restaurant menu and price. No rip-off tray rate or separate "choice". Excellent service. TV is the full digital freeview choice and more. Free WiFi. We used the gym facility! FIRST VISIT. Efficient check-in, but on inspection we were disappointed with the allocated room. We were given a "double" room with a very small bathroom. Heating was off and there was no available control. Room should have been prepared for new guests at this rating. After complaining we were offered, eventually, and accepted another room. Management should have checked the lack of heating in all rooms. It snowed today! Had arrived early evening after train journey from London. Room was inspected (!) following our complaint and, because heating deemed inadequate, now have a suitable bathroom and king bed. Heating is controllable and room is satisfactory. Espresso coffee machine too. Restaurant meals and breakfasts were all of a high standard to match the price. Splendid harbour views on 2 sides. Seems many guests were using room service. Business guests need to unwind and then work and cannot enjoy the excellent dining room Service staff exceeded our expectation. OVERALL SUMMARY. This hotel is recommended and is under-rated. Staff are better than the ineffective and poor management. Some good rooms. Dining is first class in the Grill and one of Bristol's finest at present.

Yelp
Rooms are nice , hotel is nice inside. Has a conference Centre which seems to be the primary business clientele. Staff all friendly and helpful. Hotel us clean. Bar area and receptions are modern and well appointed. Bathroom was tiny and they have a ceiling fan that runs all the time. Parking is in the multi storey ncr building next door with floor to floor connections. Small vehicle access ramps . Bar area is decent, restaurant on premises. Looks good with nice views by the river. Very popular area and lots of restaurants close by

Yelp
For years this hotel was known as the Jury's Inn Hotel in Bristol. Part of the Jury's Inn chain it was pretty standard and hard to tell apart from some of the others (the one in Southampton springs to mind, though that's on a roundabout in the red light district, this one's right by the harbour). However, last year in a genius bit of marketing and PR, the name was changed to the Bristol Hotel. Basically, until now Bristol has never had a Bristol Hotel. Sydney, Vienna and Los Angeles have all got Bristol Hotels but the place which spawned the name never did. The Bristol hotel is well placed in the centre of town pretty much next to the Arnolfini, which means in the recent 2010 General Election campaign Leaders' Debate it was full of Sky News teams who were preparing the stage for the much-awaited event. I spoke to a couple of Sky News folk I know and they all enjoyed their experience at the Bristol Hotel. It looks a little posh but it's not pretentious with it. Which is good.

Yelp
I have stayed here on business a couple of times recently and been impressed by the comfortable beds and space in the room. It's difficult not to fall asleep easily here. However a bit less impressed that the bathroom was so small compared to the rest of the room. Having said that, there were toiletries provided (and nice quality too). Sadly the rooms facing outward onto the main road can be a little noisy at night but not too deafening. A little price to pay for a very central location - you could always ask to change room. Breakfast selection was good - although the sausages were a little under-done and there wasn't much for a vegetarian to eat. Views are good though - it's nice to take breakfast overlooking the floating harbour and watch people go about their morning business!

Yelp
From the outside it looks old and tired, it has a NCP attached and you can't tell where the carpark stops and the hotel begins. Booking was easy and the staff very polite, we only booked in here as the Hotel Du Vin was full and were not expecting much for their advertised rate of £149 bed and breakfast. When I called I was offered a special, £119 with a bottle of bubbly and marshmallows with chocolate on check-in and an upgrade to a Superior room. Check-in was very professional and the inside of the hotel was very modern and clean. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean, the bed was one of the few hotel beds that has not given me backache. Room Service was quick and good quality, although it was just a few sandwiches that we ordered. Breakfast was to a very high standard and check-out was smooth and professional. we did not eat (apart from the sandwich in the room and breakfast) or drink in the hotel so cannot comment on their restaurant. My one complaint is that there is not Wi-fi available in the rooms although there was a network point should you have a laptop. Not much use for an iPad or smart phone though. Overall a most enjoyable hotel and excellent value for money.

Yelp
Stayed here recently for one night. A very nice hotel with really friendly staff. The room was cosy and the bed was very comfortable. We went out for the night with a group of friends, so this hotel is ideal if you want to be right on Bristol's vibrant harbour side and city centre for the night life. We had breakfast which was delicious and loads to chose from. Reasonable rates considering it's location plus the added bonus of ample free parking for guests.
