The Broadway Hideaway, Broadway, Cotswolds - Explore & Book

"Imagine this: it’s 1651 and the final battle of the English Civil War is about to commence. Oliver Cromwell and his army stay the night in Broadway – a vital Cotswold stop along the trade artery connecting Wales to London. Standing at a window across the street from the coaching inn, someone engraves the symbol of a chalice into the deep honey stone frame of a window. A defiant Royalist gesture against the puritan Parliamentarians before the Battle of Worcester, perhaps?Fast forward to today, and the very same window still bears that mysterious 17th-century graffiti, now in the living room of this first-floor, two-bedroom apartment. Owners Julia and Tarkan (who also run a smart collection of apartments in Istanbul) have painstakingly removed thick layers of paint, which concealed precious historical features, by hand. This eco-restoration respects the balance between contemporary and antique, while the palette reflects the high street's grey cobbles and ochre stone. Though the streets of Broadway are awash with boutiques, foodie magnets and cottages cute enough to make your eyes water, pockets of its past remain. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway for two, or a break for four exploring the ‘jewel of the Cotswolds’, this place has it all: oak beams, wonky walls, carefully selected designer-meets-retro furniture, a luxurious roll-top bath, modern kitchen, smart heating, remote-control mood lighting and even its own private garden with seating. Highs The opportunity to feel like a resident of a historic building into which others could only dream of having a glimpseJulia and Tarkan have delicately revealed the original wooden beams and deep sandstone window frames which were previously covered with thick layers of paintExtremely comfy beds: we enjoyed a sound night's sleepYou could easily fill a couple of days simply exploring Broadway's museums, galleries, boutiques, eateries and short scenic walks without leaving the locale The clever blend of modernity and antiquity Lows Those gorgeous beams and low ceilings may be troublesome for vertically-gifted guests Garden access is via a private alleyway on the high street and across a neighbour's courtyard, plus it's overlooked by windows. But it's a lovely, sunny spot once you get thereHead room in the bathroom means the spoiling roll-top bathtub is to be enjoyed sitting down - no standing showers allowedThe estate agent's windows below the apartment are a popular attraction in themselves. Keep the front door locked to avoid people wandering in by accident" - Rosanna Spence

Having been guests here for numerous years, we have had the pleasure of experiencing several different rooms. On this occasion, we were accommodated in Bumblebee Cottage, which proved to be a delightful choice, boasting wonderful decor and excellent facilities. Our dog particularly enjoyed the garden! We opted to dine at the hotel on most evenings and, as always, found the food to be exceptional, with the steaks being a particular highlight. The staff were, as always, friendly, helpful, and provided outstanding service. We also had the opportunity to view two of their new cottages, which we found to be of a very high standard. We are certainly considering them for our next visit.

Overnight stay worked perfectly; easy parking; quick check in, comfortable room with all the necessary facilities. The only downside was dinner, sitting outside on a beautiful evening. The Sea Bream was superb. But the service was not great. It was necessary to order drinks and food at the bar .No problem with that even if the person who took the order was unsmiling and perfunctory. The strange part was that at no stage anyone asked how the meal was. I was ready for another drink and sweet. No one bothered to check. The answer seemed to be a return inside to the bar to order - just like Pret A Manger or Costa. This was disappointing for a hotel with upmarket prices. As a result, went across the road to the Swan Inn and was made most welcome there.

Just arrived home after our short break The Broadway Hotel was everything we’d hoped , located in a stunning setting, our room (Desert Orchid) was perfect overlooking the beautiful gardens the hotel is well laid out with rooms away from bar and restaurant areas, our meal was fantastic as were the staff that looked after us especially Danielle (attentive professional) a real asset , our breakfast equally as nice freshly prepared and piping hot. Ladies on reception warm and friendly and nothing is a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely be back . Good work guys 👏🏻

Just had lunch there. We had fish and chips and the ploughman lunch plus drinks for just over £50. Food was good and enough to eat. The fish was very crispy as were the thick chips with peas and curry. A delight to eat. My ploughman lunch could have done with another half of a baguette and slice of ham.

Visited on a number of occasions, just for drinks, during our week in Broadway. We sat inside and outside. The bar area, outside seating, the lounge and the toilets were all lovely.|One of the main reasons that I’m leaving this review is because of how friendly and accommodating all of the staff are. We came with our dog and another couple and their dog and we all commented and said the same. They made us feel very welcome and we all thought that they deserved a massive shout out. Keep up the good work. See you next time.

Stylish comfortable accommodation in the heart of a beautiful little cotswoldian town and on many walking trails . The rooms are tasteful and fresh. The cosmetics supplied were molten brown. The breakfast delicious! The staff welcoming and professional. Overall a great experience! Highly recommended!

We highly recommend this hotel! We had a bad experience with another hotel and the kind desk worker ( I wish I recalled her name!) was able to accommodate us with a last minute booking. Every staff member we encountered was so kind and helpful. We really appreciate our whole experience at this wonderful hotel! The room was clean ( the shower was amazing) and the beds were so comfortable!! We had dinner and the Cotswold chicken was terrific and one of our best meals on our trip!

We have just returned home from a 4 night stay in one of the hotel’s cottages and cannot recommend it highly enough. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom modern and spacious. Our only problem was that we couldn't get the bedroom tv to work but a call to reception and this was sorted straight away. We thought that the cottage was very good value for money taking everything into account and look forward to returning in the future.
