I had some concerns after recent reviews and prepared for the worst. I travelled from London with a friend for a week in NYC . We got an Uber from JFK. Reasonable price and really quick.|The hotel is not perfect (such as hand held shower missing so shower cap was needed and bathroom door was half missing). However, it didn't matter to us as we were so impressed with the size of our suite and the comfort of our beds. |There was no maid service but there was a coffee machine a microwave in the room and staff were very responsive to our requests. |We slept well every night without noise disturbance. |The local area is lively, especially around the subway station. There appeared to be alot of homeless people and the corners felt a bit like an episode of the Wire at times but everyone was friendly towards us.|Davids Brisket House round the corner was a great place to get a decent sandwich and absorb the characters from the neighbourhood. |The hotel is situated close to the A and C lines with great links to Manhatten. The room was nice and really good value for money. I would stay here again.|

I’ve stayed at this property years ago and there’s a big downgrade from then to now. Initially walking into the hotel things look ok until u walk further inside. Their little bar area has chairs that look like they will fall apart if you sit on them and the benches look like they’ve had them for centuries with the peeling leather. On the 2nd floor there’s a dip in the hallway floor so be careful. Once in the room first thing you notice is the refrigerator is leaning out from under the counter. In the bathroom the mirror was broken and leaning off the wall and the faucet kept dripping hot water to the point they had someone come turn it off so didn’t have hot water the whole stay. The heater took 5 hours to get a little warm still was freezing in the middle of February. The walls were chipped and paint peeling, tv in the living room area didn’t work, hand prints on the bathroom tiles and water leaking out of an opened pipe in the shower area. Last but not least the pillows on the bed were so small they look like accent pillows for a couch. Will not stay here again.

Do not stay here. Starting with safety issues, the elevator shows no sign of inspection and was so rickety and noisy while riding. Past reviewers mention previous elevator issues. The room had an adjoining door to another room, and both those doors were unlocked. Light was on in the next room - clear safety issues as someone could walk right in. Bulletproof glass in the lobby. Pillows were all stained and even sticky in some spots. Towels also appeared unclean & worn. Phone and other objects in the room dusty and sticky (why?) Damaged walls are concerning. We checked in in the middle of the night and left immediately due to safety concerns.

Absolutely horrendous!!!! The worst experience we ever had. We chose this hotel because it is dog friendly, and it turned out to be a huge mistake. Hotel is terribly rundown, extremely worn or broken down furniture, lobby is just filthy. We knew we made a mistake when we saw a bulletproof glass at the reception. Check in time was at 3 pm, we arrived at 5 pm and were told rooms wasn't ready! Elevator was broken, so we had to drag our suitcases 4 floors up the stairs. Hallways smelled like cigarettes and cleaning ladies were stacking sheets and supplies on dirty rugs. We were late for an event so decided to stay and brave the night. Luckily sheets seemed clean, so that was one saving grace. Funny detail, our window was completely broken, just leaning against the wall :D At that point things wear so bad, it started to be funny. Oh, and yes, walls are paper thin so you will hear everything! And seems that the crowd this hotel attracts doesn't really sleep. Party was on all night long, and we wished we weren't invited! Oh... and can't forget to mention the neighborhood... Scary, comes to mind. Piles of trash, homeless people, and thugs hanging around. All around horrible place to stay.

Positive: The size of our room for 4 people was very nice. I think it was a suite. And the bed was very comfortable. Negative: Some of the furnishings in our room were worn.? the sink tap wasn?t firmly attached, the carpet had worn spots and ragged edges, one of the chairs had worn out material on the arms. It seemed like the room was nice but needed some attention.

The room was beautiful. However it was cold and the heater did not work well. It's positioned between BK and QNS so a nice distance between either one. Right on Atlantic blvd so be prepared to walk to find parking. Staff was friendly, although the kitchen was dirty and the microwave as well. Phone in room did not work. Overall decent experience. Would bring the kids next time. Also they allow per hour late check out which was cool. Even though we ended up not needing it.

*****READ THIS******* If you want a luxury hotel and a professional experience, this is not the place for you. If you want a place that is a hop skip away from both manhattan and downtown Brooklyn that is clean, rodent free, pest free, and generally conveniently placed, then it’s not half bad. The neighborhood itself is not too safe at night so I would not venture anywhere past 11pm (especially if you’re a lady alone) however in the day time it’s a really vibrant diverse community. There’s a large Muslim community which was very comforting and overall as mentioned above the proximity to both the Nostrand and Fulton subway stops makes the hotel a convenient location for someone whom is simply tryna put their heads somewhere for a night or two max. Aesthetics: weathered, a couple of broken items in the room, lobby looks pretty shabby, elevator is so scary and rickety-tried to take the stairs because I was afraid it would stop on us. Security: no security guard etc (read above about neighborhood) Safety: Our second night around 2am, the fire alarms went off and we had to “evacuate”, it was a logistical nightmare and the hotel staff went about it in a very unprofessional way that was borderline shady. The lady in the front desk told us the fire alarms went off because “someone was showering and the showers get so hot they trigger the alarms”….im sitting here like “I did not fall on my head” . A few minutes later the fire alarm stopped and the fire department came and they scolded the staff because the fire alarm was supposedly “tampered with” and “turned off” which is very dangerous. Also they were not up to par with inspection and did not follow regulation because the fire department was not immediately notified and instead it was us that forced the staff to call to check because we were scared it might be a gas leak. She(staff at front desk) had a hard time understanding us-due to a language barrier I suppose- and it was truly a nightmare. About 30 min passed we were sitting in the lobby; we were not told by the staff things were safe neither was there a PSA intercom announcement etc, instead we had to ask the fire department before they left. Amenity pros/“little wins” : microwave in rooms, Nespresso machines in room, mini fridge. Check out 12pm check in without additional cost 2pm. Luggage can be stored in a safe locked location prior to check in for early arrival-if you come early and want tot venture in the city. Deposit $100 and allow debit, credit, and cash. Immediately given back at check out.

Came to stay to see family in Brooklyn. This place was convenient and affordable. They do not have parking however, I highly suggest Metropolis. A easy 8 minute walk around the corner and affordable. The staff at Brooklyn was very helpful in suggesting this and checking was easy. As it goes for the rooms, well… they could use some tlc. Our room had a lot of dust, like on the walls. A few cosmetic things that i guess i could let go because the price and location were so convenient. The elevator… it is super sketchy. If you can, use the stairs. Beds are comfy and I felt safe, that’s really all I could ask for.

Yelp
Way too expensive for what you get. The proprietors have no pride in this establishment nor their work. So much in the room was worn or broken. It did have two TVs. I wonder if they worked since I didn't try to cut them on. Was in Brooklyn for a conference and needed to press my shirt but there was no iron. Again, they charge what they do and can't provide an iron. Never again on my part. Don't do this to yourself.

Alexandra J.

Yelp
2nd night and it sounds like a porn shoot The room itself is nice, but the ceiling is apparently made of cardboard. I'm with my kids and it's awkward for sure. Bathroom door is broken. Invest in ear plugs pray for us we have 1 more night. Eww

Laura L.

Yelp
Pictures do not represent the hotel- it's very run down and old. Broken, peeling faux leather chairs, no TV (it turns on to a weather page) and you had to ask for wi-fi password. We had to take the yellowed sheets off the bed, discussing pillows. There's a dining room with no service, and a broken vending machine. Not great neighborhood, on a busy street and not super safe to go out at night. Our Uber driver said the hotel part was on the first floor (welcome desk behind place-glass) and that the rest of the building was a shelter or rooms for housing challenged. There was yelling and lots of people in the lobby most of the night, walking through the halls and banging on the walls!

Russ S.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Hookers come in from work at 4:45am, human waste off the front entryway, homeless everywhere, new flooring put down over plywood in the rooms that feels as if it may give out beneath you, disconnected plumbing fixtures, etc. etc. etc. Trust me: No matter how inexpensive it is, do not. There. Now you owe me your life.

Carly L.

Yelp
The one good aspect is that the room is relatively large for an NYC hotel. However, the other reviews are pretty spot-on. The hotel is run-down, smells awful, and the elevator seemed to be on the verge of breaking (which judging from a review a month ago, it was broken). What angers me the most is that we are literally charged a fee for a service that the hotel does not provide. There is a $19.99 daily resort fee which the confirmation describes as for "a daily breakfast featuring New York bagels and pastries" etc., but the hotel doesn't even serve breakfast. It has been a struggle getting this fee refunded; hotel management has not responded to myself or representatives from the site we booked through. The front desk was unhelpful.

Bernice S.

Yelp
Why keep telling people that this place is a death trap, when yhe owner continues to post pics from when this establishment first opened up.. It's expensive and crappy.. l didn't feel safe sleeping here ..

Jody S.

Yelp
This was the most expensive hotel I've ever stayed in, and it was the most ghetto situation I have ever experienced. The queen size bed that was rolled up in a rickety old couch, was a horrible mattress with no sheets on it. No extra bedding in the room, two towels, and one rag one bar of soap, a coffee maker with no cups, a chair with a broken leg. The toilet handle fell off when we flushed the toilet. The hot water faucet in the sink was stripped and would not turn on. The drain in the shower was clogged. And when I asked to speak with the manager there was no one to speak to. The person behind the counter gave me an email. No manager responded to my request for a partial refund for I paid over $1100 for this shirt room. Don't stay here.

Clara O.

Yelp
AVOID THIS HOTEL This was a nightmare. On their website rooms looked nice. Good photographer. A small room with a window facing a junk yard. The only positive thing: They refunded my money. It was a very bad experience Tara from New Jersey

Olga R.

Yelp
Do not be fooled by the photos on their website. It's blatant false advertising! I should have left when I walked in and and saw the bullet proof glass at the front desk. This place is dingy and had a smell that made me sick to my stomach. It's like they sprayed Lysol to cover the smells. The carpet in the room was dirty and all the furniture looks worn and scuffed. The elevator has a sign warning not to have more than 4 people inside. (Wtf??) The hallway smelled like marijuana and we could hear people arguing the room next door. We felt so uncomfortable and unsafe in this place, we ended up leaving. I was told I would get a refund and even emailed the management. I never got a reply. I was basically ripped off by this place. DO NOT stay here.

Kim B.

Yelp
When you look at this hotel online - you only see the front of the building... Because there's nothing to the left or the right or across the street but traffic. If you're walking here at night... *shrug* you might feel unsafe. The front desk area is encased in some type of bullet proof glass/thick plastic... And the security guard sits across from the front desk. So they either have been robbed or own a bodega cause it has that same feel. (IYKYK) front desk guy barely said anything beside "ID and credit card" they make a copy of your ID, you sign a form that you're ok with them charging your card for incidentals, and they send you on your way. He didn't tell me what room I was in. He just wrote it on the key card. O_O. Grade A customer service. Ok. Cool. There are taped up print outs about noise, a smoking fee you'll be charged X amount if they catch you... PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTELY SMOKING IN THIS PLACE. They may rather you not but that fee ain't stoppin nobody. (Someone randomly walked down the hall last night spraying spray to rid the smell -- it didn't.) There are Rules about how many people are allowed in what type of room. Which gives the impression that it probably gets wild during the spring/summer. The room it's self is cool. Everything seems clean. Everything has wear/tear and seems/is worn. The walls are INCREDIBLY thin. (The guy in the room next to me is currently talking on the phone about doing shrooms, bougie b!tches, and his mans needing to get his drivers license) is he in the room next to me or is he sitting in the couch in this room? The volume is about the same, might as well be a 3 way call with all of us. Would I stay here again? Probably not, but I wouldn't throw a fit if someone else booked it for me/us either. It's a bit further down on Atlantic than I'd like to be. It's like 1.5 miles from Barclays. Closest train is the A/C - Nostrand. The 2 train is like a 17 minute walk away. All in all... It's giving... We used to be a motel, but got a PPP loan, did some renovations, and we're a hotel now. Not knocking it. IJS those are the vibes.

John B.

Yelp
Look, I'll start with the PROS - price and location, and that was what made me take a risk on this place. But it was not worth it. The floors were sticky, items in the room visibly broken. The worst thing was the smell. An intense chemical cleaner that permeated the whole hotel. It wasn't bleach, but it had the same kind of acrid quality. I can still smell it on my clothes days after leaving. The management just clearly has no intention of keeping this place up. Broken lights, things literally falling off the walls, the entire bar/dining area stripped bare. The other guests were suspicious and the immediate neighborhood felt more dangerous than my past visits to the area. I will say that I had nothing stolen and no unsafe encounters with other guests, but I was very cautious. Do not stay here.

Sarah R.

Yelp
This is the first time I've ever been compelled to write a review. HORRIBLE. That word is the best way to sum up this hotel and experience. They lied about parking, did not have the room cleaned and prepared (even though we checked in TWO hours after checkin time). The bathrooms are not a room... it's a toilet behind a glass wall that doesn't even touch the ceiling... and the small door they have on that wall WAS BROKEN! The workers were not outwardly rude but they were extremely unhelpful and did nothing to fix the situation due to the hotel being fully booked (however I am not sure where all those people are because I only saw a handful of people any time I was in the lobby). It is over priced, smells bad, feels dirty, and honestly just a really bad business, let alone a hotel where you're supposed to feel comfortable while traveling. My suggestion: Don't bother booking with The Brooklyn.

Rachel L.

Yelp
I don't write reviews too often, but I NEEDED to write one for this place. I'm giving it one star because at least we didn't get robbed! (Unfortunately, due to other reviews of this place, that needs to be said). But that's the only thing this place has going for it...and that the AC works. My husband and I moved back to Brooklyn, and our flight didn't get in until late. When we finally arrived to the hotel the woman behind the desk (dark hair, glasses), and definitely pretty standoffish. Not necessarily rude but didn't give any sort of customer service. We get upstairs (after taking a ride in the elevator that definitely didn't seem up to code), and we were actually surprised by the size of the room! There's a microwave and mini fridge. That's where the niceties about the room end because it is dingy. Not necessarily DIRTY but...there was paint chips, major wear and tare, and even painters tape left on the walls. It just seemed a general feeling of ick...not a single good vibe to be found in this place. But the worst part is the noise...thank god my husband and I had random stuff packed in our bags due to moving, so we had ear plugs and a noise machine, but the hotel is literally right next to the subway, so we heard that go by every 20 minutes all night long, as well as every footstep ever stepped by every resident in this hotel. It was not a good night's sleep by any means. We had late checkout at 12 noon, but ended up leaving at 8 am because we couldn't take being here any longer. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Guests beware, and hopefully go somewhere else.

Esme C.

Yelp
And it's a day this hotel was probably a really nice place to stay but now is completely run down and not taken care of at all. The elevator sounds as if it's going to plummet, which is extremely scary & floor tiles in hallway are cracked. The 1st room they gave me the bathroom fan sounded like a jackhammer. 2nd room wasn't much better - window sills were filled with dust as were the corners in the bathroom. The floors feel as if you are going to fall thru, shower didn't work and neither did the electrical plug in the bathroom. There is no security as anyone can walk into the hotel and go to any floor with no key. Recommendatiin: Don't book here it's not at all clean

Lisa N.

Yelp
can you give ZERO stars??? we showed up late for our reservation, due to flight delays. when we got to the hotel at 6 am, 3 hours after the 3 am deadline , we were told our one week reservation had been cancelled, and in that time frame between 3-6 am they had rented it out to someone else. Which was a blatant LIE. oh but as a consolation, we could rent a room that night, check in 3 pm, for 3 times what our reservation had been. They refused to refund the next 6 nights AVOID THIS HOTEL!

Cia F.

Yelp
I would advise EVERYONE to steer clear of this hotel. Our belongings were STOLEN out of our room while we stepped out for dinner. We came back from dinner to the hotel, our room door was open and the room had been ramshacked; our stuff missing. The hotel had no manager on duty; when we brought it to the attention to the front desk clerk she was very nonchalant, "texted" the manager, and anytime we asked her to call him she would go to the corner wall of the front desk to wisper on the phone to him. Very shady and suspicious ! She didnt let us see the cameras and when we called the cops to file a police report, she told them that she didnt have access to the cameras at all. How are you running a business and have cameras in every hallway but CANT access them ??? Theres also a security desk in the front lobby with no security guard. A drug addict walked straight into the hotel just as we were informing the front desk clerk about what happened and she claimed she didnt know how the addict got in because the doors are "usually locked at that time". Really ?????? The fron desk clerk also called the police on us when we went back to the hotel room to gather our things so that we could leave ! The hotel did absolutely nothing about the situation and we are convinced that they are the ones who stole from our room. This hotel is ran by liars and thieves ! Even "housekeeping" was extremely rude to us ! Ofcourse the cops did nothing but file a report; later on we were told that there was nothing that they could do about the situation. If you value your personal belongings, privacy and safety, I would not patronize this business at all. They will steal from you and there will be nothing that you or the cops can do about it.

Elana L.

Yelp
Horrible. Do yourself a favor and never stay here. Too many safety violations. Place smells like weed and bug killer. Elevator doesn't work.

Eidy B.

Yelp
PLEASE READ OUR EXPERIENCE BEFORE BOOKING, THE WORST ACCOMMODATION EXPERIENCE EVER (TLDR desk clerk provided us a king room we booked with a broken bathroom door and were very reluctant, rude, and unhelpful in resolving the issue. I have never felt more obligated in my life to leave a review until now.) I booked this hotel through Chase thinking that it was a great option as many reviews were saying it was good or at the very least okay to stay in. We first got a really good impression by the hotel allowing us to store our luggage as we were checking out from airbnb and had nowhere to store them (that or roam around nyc with two big carry ons). However, when we checked in later that day it was the complete opposite experience. The front desk didn't feel very welcoming to begin with (okay sure whatever). We were then given a king sized room that we had booked through chase and found out that the bathroom door was completely broken and couldn't close the door one bit. My friend wanted to use the bathroom but was uncomfortable with no privacy (as was I) so we asked the front desk if there were any other available rooms to switch over to. They said that the bathroom doors are currently under repair & getting fixed and that the hotel was fully booked that night. I felt awkward that nothing was being done by the front desk about this issue and I said okay and back to our room. We were NOT informed of the bathroom door condition before checking in. Seeing as how we weren't informed of being provided a king size bedroom with a broken bathroom door. I called Chase to see what our options were and to resolve this issue (because the hotel desk clerk did not do anything about it). Chase was very good at being the middleman and contacted the hotel. The hotel lady desk clerk came up to our room and we told of our situation with the broken bathroom. We then got a scoff "what's wrong" and that baffled us that we had to explain that the door was visibly broken and there was no privacy in the bathroom. She went back and talked on the phone some more (to the chase travel agency line I assume) and a few minutes after came to our room and provided us with another room (Great! Finally!!). She said to check the room and we did which was to our satisfaction, however; this room that we were provided with was a full sized bed. We asked the lady desk clerk if it was possible to get compensated for the appropriate size room as I was charged with king size and she gave us a very reluctant look and said "I've already done too much for you." To our disbelief, we were given the option if either canceling and keeping the full size bed room for the price of king that I had originally booked with. Note that we felt the lady desk clerk was impatient and rude to us for asking minimum working room and compensated for a smaller booked room. We were getting overall bad vibes and no longer wanted to stay at the hotel. We asked if we did cancel and if there would be any refund and they said no. We tried calling Chase again to resolve the issue but had no luck. We reaaaally did try to like it with as much professionalism as we can. We gave it a chance but the clerk really blew it. Non apologetic whatsoever. She only considered helping with our issue when Chase had called them. In the end, we left the hotel for the best western plus just across the street (WELL WORTH SPENDING THAT EXTRA AMOUNT THAN THIS HOTEL. IT WAS NIGHT AND DAY IN SERVICE AND LIVING SPACE). Never again, and it's taught us a valuable lesson of deep diving into the reviews further through "most recent" rather than as a whole "4/5 stars"

Christina P.

Yelp
I stayed here two nights for my wedding and this hotel needs some TLC. It is not well kept. The front desk is very very slow and not attentive. The rooms, are spacious which is why I went with this hotel but the cleaning staff took the dirty towels and never replaced them...next day we had no towels. Overall the hotel is ok, rooms were clean. If you want an affordable hotel in Brooklyn, near everything this is ok.

Frank A.

Yelp
I would give 0 stars if I could. I booked a reservation and called to see if it was okay that I had to check in late. They assured me that it was okay, then when I go to check in, they already booked my room, and denied me a refund. I do not recommend this hotel to ANYONE!

Claire S.

Yelp
I thought the 3-star rating meant this place would be good enough but whew, was I wrong. I mostly echo what others have said. This place REEKED of cigarettes and weed. My bath towels were covered in stains and another person's hair. On a super sketchy block. When I first got to my room on the 4th floor, I thought the window was open because of how much street noise was coming in. The room was literally falling apart - everything was either broken, dirty, chipped, wobbly, or in some other state of disrepair. It's like they built it and decided not to invest ever again in maintenance or upkeep. When I first got in the elevator, there was a woman coming out holding a hamster cage, just to give you an idea of the kind of sketchiness that happens here. The signage and disclaimer about smoking and partying clearly means they have a problem with it at the hotel, but unfortunately it isn't actually being managed. Oh, and they charge a $50 early check-in fee, even though the room was already ready and they didn't have to do anything different for my "early" check-in. I tried to get a refund but they said they couldn't do it and I'd have to call back for a manager. I've been trying to call for the past 3 days at different times of the day and can't get ahold of a manager. One front desk person said he only comes in at 4; another said he's only there between 1 and 4.

Yelp
4th of July weekend. The crappy outside gives you a shocker when you walk inside and see how nice everything is (check in area, bar, lounge area.) There's parking in front of the hotel, it's a busy road. Do NOT park in the back, there is a whole Crack City back there. People are bent backwards, laying unconsciously on the ground, probably shooting/smoking up. Who knows, didn't want to drive by it any slower than the speed limit. Don't park or walk back there. Check in was smooth and fast, they didn't really say much about anything. no promos on bar/room service/lounge/turn down. They do charge upon arrival. We got the room we rsvp for, even though OTHER REVIEWS say they were forced to choose a different room size. Thankfully because we had an infant with us. Walked passed the dead bar and lounge area to the small ass elevator. My mans the stroller and i fit snug but everything looks so classy and high-end. Our room was pretty nice. The front door slams really loud. It was loft-like, very big and comfy. we got the Double Queen bed Junior Suite. We noticed one of the bathroom doors were missing just like the OTHER REVIEWS SAID. The under handle to the separate toilet room was missing so the door slammed shut. The kitchenette had two bottles of water, coffee stuff, ice bucket, microwave, mini fridge. The couch was nice but squeaky af, so were the blinds that separated the sleeping area from the living area. The beds were super comfy. The TVs were huge but i don't think they work. We didn't really try because it was an eventful weekend. No wifi info at all. There were love chairs in the bedroom as well. The room was beautiful. The AC was booming. The entire hotel constantly smells like weed. The walls and floors are super thin. while laying in bed i could feel people walking through their rooms (it woke the baby up.) You can hear people's full conversations. Towards the night it got quiet and all we heard were fireworks. When we woke up in the morning everything was calm and quiet. check out was nice and smooth and we walked out happy. OVERALL, for a night or two, it's doable but this isn't a resort where you would spend a week at, especially if you have kids with you. But what can you really expect in Atlantic Ave in the middle of hood ass brooklyn. I gave them 3 stars because they really tried their best. I'm not expecting a 5 star resort but if you're a low budget hotel in brooklyn at least try to up your services and accommodations. We'd probably try it again on those days we want a staycation in town.

Yelp
Summary: It's the Weed Hotel Pros: helpful staff, clean room, no signs of bed bugs Cons: loud neighbors (babies crying in the middle of the night, music, fire alarm went off at night, etc), key cards demagnetized each day, rooms weren't cleaned for the three nights we were there, and smelled like weed the whole time (elevator, room, bathroom), and it is located in a bad area we didn't feel safe in.

West T.

Yelp
Welllppp this review is partially due to the fact I booked via a third party website and their mess is TRASH as the hotel was completely booked and possibly doesn't do day rates... But the man at the front desk with amazing eyebrows had such a "we're fully booked, are ya dumb?" attitude. It was that weird , standing at the front desk looking for my card and ID to handover when about 3 minutes in I'm like I have a reservation. There was no "how may I help you" just that awkward look like "TF is she standing here" Any who he proceeds to look for my reservations then questions why the website would book when they're at capacity with "34 rooms." There weren't any recommendations given for places to stay in the area until I asked. Overall the character and energy wasn't doing it for me hunnie

Chelsea P.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place zero stars. Bathroom was filled with mold. Claims to be a non-smoking hotel, but the floors were filled with smoke. Second night the smoke alarms went off twice (starting around 2:30am) and I had to get out of bed and run down the stairs just to find out it's because some of the guests decided to hotbox the room and it set off the fire alarm. Woke up that morning and my fridge had melted water all over the floor. Not sure what the resort fee is for, there are ZERO amenities available. Just stay away!

Yelp
My wife and I spent a weekend at this hotel in September 2022. Our room reeked of stale weed and cigarettes. There were unknown stains on carpeting, furniture, and curtains and sticky, dirty laminate floors. The bathroom sink had a broken, non-functional hot water faucet. Large black garbage bags lined the hallway. The elevator was janky; the lobby smelled overpoweringly of industrial cleaning solvents (presumably to cover up more weed/cigarette odors... or worse.) I immediately requested to speak with the manager, and was told there are no managers on-site during the weekend, and that no manager could be reached by phone, which is a huge red flag for a hotel--the highest-traffic days of the week are going to be Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Seems pretty important to have a manager around! On Saturday morning at about 1am, we were returning from a late dinner and drinks with friends and found that the guest across the hall was hosting a room party in direct contradiction with the hotel's own posted policies. We know this because the guy who rode the elevator with us from the lobby told us (he wasn't staying there), only to get turned away at the door of the party. While that is objectively hilarious, this stay was anything but. The front desk attendant did eventually move us to a slightly less terrible room for Saturday night (fewer stains, didn't smell as bad, etc.) but refused to process a refund or put me in touch with the manager on Sunday. Ridiculous, disrespectful, and a huge waste of money and time. I've filed complaints with New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) and the Hotel Association of New York City (HANYC), and am disputing the charge through my credit card company. In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Stay away.

Yelp
We came into the hotel optimist because upon entry the hotel smelled freshly cleaned with purple fabuloso, it had a very modern look and feel and the lady at the front desk was pleasant. The pile of trash at the curb upon arrival should have been warning. The shower was very nice, perfect water pressure, overhead big raining shower head and nice hot water. Our beds was comfy and no complaints about the pillows. If you are not a resident the area may seem little sketchy. We thought we would walk for pizza but changed our mind after about 287 steps. There is lots of trash on the curbs, lots of foot traffic in the area and the smell of urine to top it off. We quickly turned around and called an Uber. When we settle in for the night all was well until about 2am when Miss Debbie Does Dallas decided she didn't give a darn about the time she was going to yell. Her cries of ecstasy lasted for hours. I was too tired to walk across the room for the phone, it would have been nice to have the phones near the beds. The point of this part of the story is to validate others claims of the walls being VERY thin. Debs was extremely loud. My next issue happened when we woke up. Upon turning on the light we saw a big black New York style cockroach sitting right near our bags. We screamed, hopefully waking Debbie and her partner. We call the front desk and the houseman comes in equipped with gloves and a can of raid. He sprays everything, including bags before he final breaks out his finishing move and splatters the roach with his hand. When the shit show is complete we immediately began packing our things. We decided to check out with no knowledge of where we was going to rest our heads for the remaining 2 nights of our trip. We had a little resistance from the manager about refunding our stay, but at the end of it all it was resolved. U.N. was in town, so everything was either booked or triple the price. We ended up having to book a last minute stay at Nylo which really hurt the pockets.

Yelp
The hotel is very beautiful, but the back of the hotel is full of drug addicts. I wish they would remove the many unsavory individuals in the back of the hotel.

Yelp
Sadly, I have nothing to add to the terrible reviews of this place but more details on how terrible it is. Do not stay here unless you have no other choice. I normally don't write bad reviews and I try to cut people a break anytime I can... it's COVID and things are hard these days for hotels and service staff but this experience was VERY bad and VERY unacceptable. First off, the hallways and elevators constantly reeked of cigarette smoke, the carpets/floors were all dirty in the common areas, none of the "bar" or "amenities" that were listed were open (they were actually filled with random boxes and fans and dirty floors), and the front desk staff was not welcoming AT ALL. We didn't have issues with noise until we checked out and they were suddenly doing construction in the basement, but everything in these terrible reviews is 100% true. We planned to stay here for a week and checked out after 1 night because of the terrible room conditions. At first glance it was great so we didn't pay any mind to it the first night we stayed. We had a long flight and passed out as soon as we got there. The next day I contacted the front desk and informed them that we would be checking out early after I stepped on various pieces of glass on the carpet in my room. Unfortunately, this was not my only issue with the room however it was the final straw. There was also hair and stains on the bed sheets that were not ours, a layer of dust on all the furniture, various small pieces of trash on the carpet and floor throughout including small pieces of glass scattered near the bed which made it clear it had not been vacuumed or cleaned prior to us checking in. Although I explained this to the front desk employee, she did not express much concern or regret that we did not want to stay the full week we booked. Based on all these reviews maybe she is just used to hearing these complaints. She didn't offer any kind of consolation for this, however, she said that she would contact the manager of the property (via text!!!) to inquire about a reduced rate for the time we did stay, but that we shouldn't hold our breath. It has now been two weeks since we checked out and a week since I sent a follow-up e-mail on their website and we have not received any communication or been able to reach the front desk despite several attempts. I am highly disappointed in my experience at this hotel. It did not meet our expectations by a long shot. I wish we had cross-referenced the reviews on Yelp with the reviews on Booking.com where we made the reservation.

Yelp
The haphazardly posted piece of computer printer paper in the elevator listing activities prohibited in the hotel such as loud music and parties should serve as notice for bass vibration and yelling that will define your attempts at sleeping. The rooms are well designed and were stylishly appointed, but time has not been kind and the wear and tears are everywhere. From ripped carpet to broken faucets you'll feel comfortable doing anything here, no need to be cautious. The room was cleaned, but wasn't clean. From the glitter not fully vacuumed out of the carpet to the hvac filter that needed to be replaced last year to that new cigarette smell, you'll see. If you like the sound of fighting, this is the spot for you. Enjoy.

Yelp
Checked in and was greeted by a nice young lady whom I wish I remember her name, she has light blonde hair. Outside and across the street it does looks sketch, but inside is nice and the design is great. I like the wood looking tile ceiling. The room has a nice brick wall design, also massive cool wall art above the bed. Glass sliding doors that opens up to the shower and toilet which are both separated across from each other with glass doors. Room comes with microwave and fridge which is always a plus for me because you never know when you might be hungry in the middle of the night. It's my wife birthday and when we go back from dinner, someone dropped off cookies and a glass jar of milk. My wife was please with the kind gesture. Overall we had a nice stay, slept well, nice shower and comfortable bed so we are please. New York has been great. Very fast paced, busy.

Yelp
Decent hotel, had to ask for turn down service, staff never mentioned the hotel was closing the day before my last night of staying. Woken up on the morning telling me I had to leave and were putting me up in an adjacent hotel, which only had a bunk bed accommodation. Terrible experience especially for the price.

Yelp
Very spacious room but customer service sucks! My family and I checked into the hotel on June 15th. We were the first people to check in and were told that one of the Suites was not ready at that time (3pm). We were told that we could wait in the room that was ready while the other was being cleaned and would be ready in 10 mins. We were told someone would come and bring the key. After waiting for 1.5 hours we went downstairs and were told the room they were cleaning was now occupied and they did not have a room available at that time and we would have to wait until another room was cleaned. We had the worst experience with the staff member Aljouhn, who essentially forgot about the second room even after I paid for both. I asked him several times to provide the mangers information at which point he refused. We were the first in line to check in and there is absolutely no way that our second room should have been given away. Aljouhn did not apologize for his error at all and even told us he could leave. We did not have an ice bucket in our room and there was water damage on the ceilings and walls. We over looked this due to the size of the room but we can not overlook the lack of customer service. When we checked out on June 20th we were told the manager would be at the property on 6/23 at 4pm. I called and Aljouhn stated the manager was not there. I specifically asked that the manager call me back and still have not heard back. The two rooms were very expensive and I'm appalled at how this business is ran.

Yelp
One of the main issues with this hotel is the parking. There website says " parking available" buy when you get there you realize that their parking is down the street, and connected to what appeared to be an auto body shop. The hotel says it costs $"27 daily, flat fee, but then the people in the shop say "$27....but if you leave and come back, it's another $27". It seemed like a scam. I stayed here four days. The hotel itself is okay.

After i called from work for the 3 rd time They do not care. Im a nurse working foe the VA. My last week at in NY. This is the worst hotel. And the shower drain was clogges my first day. I now have to take a shower in 2 inchea of water. So gross. Im writing the city next

Yelp
I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. We stayed in a double bed suite. The room was roomy but the staying conditions were unacceptable. We were missing a shade on the window, the door knob on the door for the toilet was also missing, there was only one (1) door for the bathroom when there should have been two (2), the bathroom sink kept on backing up and there were holes in the sheets. There was a party in the room across from ours that went on until the early hours of the morning. And then when we called for towels and washcloths they told us we had to come down and pick them up. On top of that, the receptionist was extremely rude, unprofessional, condescending and unaccommodating.

Yelp
Went to simply deliver something here. Had name and room number and they wouldn't even call the room. Made me go to my car and get my phone.. they simply can't be bothered helping anyone

Yelp
Absolutely filthy. Disgusting. Bodily fluids all over the carpet, spills and stains all over the furniture. Music blaring all night long, smells like weed, which is preferable to it also reeking of cigarette smoke, absolutely the worst, most revolting place we have ever been. We left after the first night and hurried to a nicer place where we could shower. Too bad we couldn't just burn all our things bc this place is freaking FILTHY. When we got home we left all our luggage on the porch for a week bc we hoped any bedbugs to die. RUN, DON'T WALK away from this dumpster.

Yelp
-No washcloths in bathroom (had to request them). -Shelf for shampoo / soap in shower was broken (requested to have it fixed; it was not). -Electrobeats coming through the walls at, I kid you not, 5:00 AM on a weeknight. -Both phones in my room were unplugged, with no wires anywhere in sight. I discovered this when I went to call the front desk about the noise. -As others have mentioned, despite being "nonsmoking," the hallways smelled of weed with undertones of cigarettes. -The website lists a continental breakfast as an amenity. There is no breakfast. -No one available to help me with my things when I went to check out at 8 AM on a weekday morning--there was only one person on duty and she had to stay at the front desk. She had me use the luggage cart myself. Some service. (Not her fault, but the hotel's management are clearly trying to cut costs to a degree that makes the hotel unlivable. And what if there had been a true emergency somewhere else in the hotel?)

Yelp
We checked in and then promptly checked out. The room was dirty, smelled of cigarettes, weed and air freshener. The lobby and halls smelled too. Just horrible. The employee at the front desk was very nice and refunded our money without question.

Yelp
This hotel was horrible and filthy, an employee continuously tried to open the room door by pushing and opening it with his key pad despite it having the pad lock on. This is unacceptable and the manager is disgustingly rude to me and my husband about the situation. We asked to cancel and to get our refund back for the second day because this place is gross and that happened. He just gave excuses instead of soultions. This hotel ruined my birthday ! Whoever is reading this just know that booking a stay here is to risk your safety and dismantle your peace of mind. Don't do it . The manager is racist I spoke to him calmly yet he met me with pure hatred and aggression. All while being defensive as if my husband and I were going to physically harm him. I'm disgusted with this hotel

Yelp
Style over substance. Pulled up front. Nobody helping with bags. Bad directions to parking (kind of an after though). Our king size room is a queen. Wifi not connecting. Went down to the hip lobby bar to get a drink. Not open. Took a shower with the chinzy shampoo and gel, and almost had hot water. Needs basic maintenance.

Yelp
I booked this hotel for two nights (King Suite), but my guests were only comfortable staying for one night. There were loud parties going on throughout the hotel, the entire property smelled of weed, and the room was not cleaned/maintained. I tried to leave a review on Booking.com (how we booked), but the site would not allow me to verify the visit. Not sure if this is why the hotel has a much higher rating there than on review-only sites like Yelp. Terrible experience, will unfortunately not be booking here again.

Yelp
I loveeeee this place. I usually book through hotel tonight and they always offer me a suite when I arrive. The rooms are huge with great bathrooms. They also offer complimentary breakfast as well.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel maybe 6 or so times over the past 4 years. This is my first time staying here since Covid. Where do I begin? *Heavy sigh* Check in: I was charged $50 early checkin fee for checking in @ 2pm instead of 3pm. I enter the room, and can tell it wasn't properly cleaned. The floor was sticky, the towels had stains, hole in the baseboards & there was dust everywhere. Do you think I was offered a refund, & an apology for paying a $50 fee to check into that filthy room??! Absolutely not. I asked if they can please have the room properly cleaned & sanitized while I was heading out for the few hours. I instantly regretted booking this hotel. At one point, this was a nice boutique hotel that did cool things like offering cookies & fun drinks. It isn't in the best part of Brooklyn, but was the definition of a hidden gem. Now, it's run down-- the elevator was broken at one point during my stay, and I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. The young unattractive woman at the front desk had such an unnecessary attitude. She would rather sit & play on her phone than give a guest proper attention when conversing with them. The only nice employee I encountered was named Umaj (sp) unsure of the spelling. The back of the hotel is now full of addicts & you can visibly see people doing drugs outside of your window. I do not recommend.

Yelp
I booked a double bed room for my moms small bridal party of 4. I called the hotel ahead of time to see if they had any bridal packages or accommodations they said no. Fast forward to my checkin date. I get there and the first thing they tell me is I have a balance to pay off. Which was incorrect I paid through hotels.com, after we cleared that up. Robert at the front desk says that there are no more double bedrooms they are all booked. So I asked him what are you going to do for me because this is extremely frustrating and ridiculous. I asked for the manager there was no manager on site, there was no shift leader on site. The manager is on the phone telling Robert that I need to pay for a king room since it's an upgrade and I don't understand how you expect me to pay extra for a room that I didn't even book how was four people supposed to sleep on one bed comfortably. How do you expect someone to pay more for a room they didn't book because you don't have the room they already paid for? Like make it make sense. On top of that they don't even offer courtesy late check out you have to pay an extra hundred dollars for late check out. Also I was not giving any Wi-Fi name or password for my stay. Onto the king room now since it was an " upgrade" as soon as I walked in there was tissue shoved into the the door socket I don't know if someone was trying to make sure the door stays open I'm not sure but that's very unsafe. The blinds were twisted, dirty and broken so they weren't closing properly sunlight was coming in the next morning. The sheets had a few stains. The bathroom sink looked like it just had patch work done. It was very ghetto probably THE WORST HOTEL I've ever stayed in. Absolutely ghetto.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel! The decor is modern, clean and beautiful. Customer service is outstanding. I was having a pretty tough day and despite booking a standard room I was upgraded free of charge to the Executive Suite which had a mock fireplace and waterfall shower. Just what I needed. I would definitely come back and actually full price for the suite!

Romel B.

Yelp
I was introduced to the hidden gem by a client who booked a shoot with me there. I will say that most of what everyone is saying in the reviews is true. There's way too many parties being thrown in this establishment, too many young people coming in there breaking everything, smoking weed and cigarettes in the room knowing that you can't smoke in any hotel in New York City. The rooms are very nice just require a lot of maintenance and repair. The Presidential Suite is definitely one of them. The sink damn near flooded the entire room when it was used to just wash hands. The rainfall shower was missing a vital part to it. Since the pandemic the staff has been relegated to just a rotating crew. Working with limited supplies and personnel it's actually not their fault as they're working with the best of their abilities. However while I personally follow the rules I don't have a problem booking them again for a photoshoot especially since I am a regular there.

Yelp
Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Unlike so many hotels, the lighting was superb and I was able to read a book at night! The room was spacious and very modern, bed and pillows extremely comfortable and the bathroom was out of this world with plentiful hot water and great pressure. Staff was very helpful and gave me suggestions on where to eat and shop in the area. Don't let the location of this hotel scare you. It's a gem and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
