After my daughter graduates from U of Iowa, I will have to invent excuses to travel from CA to Iowa City, just for the opportunity to stay at Brown Street Inn. Everything about this Bed and Breakfast experience is perfection. Hosts Christine and Doug Blake make the entire experience a homecoming of the highest order. They are exceptionally thoughtful. This time, I picked out the Green Room because I love the option of a bathtub, and the room was SO well appointment. Amazingly comfy bed, spacious, lovely windows, super comfy reading chairs, bathrobes, a mini fridge, spotlessly clean, and so many other small details. Christine is a fantastic baker and breakfast is a real treat. Everyone who stays here is interesting to meet and talk to over breakfast. And the parlor is the place my daughter and I love to hang out with our books and work. Highly Recommend!

Charming home in a lovely neighborhood. Nice ambiance. Quiet and at the same time relaxing. Nice restaurants and shops. Very walkable. We hope to visit again and see more of Iowa City. The hosts were great. Fun to talk to but not at all intrusive.

We had family & friends sharing the 4 rooms and it was perfect. We were there for a wedding for 4 nights in June 2024, The hosts were very accommodating. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. Great scones, Christine! |I highly recommend The Brown Street Inn. |JD

First trip back to Iowa City since pre-COVID. Mark and Bob are so lovely and were amazing innkeepers. Although this was the first time I’d met the new owners, Christine and Doug, their beautiful family and sweetest dog, they made me feel like I was home again. Every need was met, and expectations exceeded—especially my gluten free diet! Breakfast was ALL homemade & incredible—the best frittatas, yogurt, jams, pumpkin muffins, zucchini bread, sliced berries, granola, and more—and warm cookies served every afternoon. I’ll return just to eat Christine’s oatmeal raisin cookies! Best. Ever. And I am choosy. Genuinely felt cared for and looked after. I am thrilled to still have my “home away from home” in Iowa City and can’t wait to return. Pro tip: don’t see something you need? Want help with something? Just ask. These folks are big-hearted and want you to feel at home as they work to put their own spin on this Iowa City classic.

This 110-year-old mansion has been adapted well to serve as a B&B while maintaining its original character. Actually, the neighborhood surely looks much as it did in 1913, right down to the brick street. We’d suggest spending some relaxing time on the front porch, maybe with your morning coffee. If you are lucky, you might be joined by Christine and Doug who are gracious and helpful hosts who will make sure your stay is all you expect it to be. Accommodations are clean and comfortable, tastefully decorated. The location is convenient for whatever may interest you in Iowa City. The Browne Street Inn is a gem in Iowa City.

If I did not have a reason to visit Iowa City, I would invent one--just for the opportunity to stay at the Brown Street Inn and be hosted by Christine and Doug, their family, and Gemma, the friendliest dog. I did come to Iowa City for the first time ever to visit my daughter who had just started a program at U of Iowa. Everything was PERFECT -- from booking and my pre-visit communications with Christine, to my early arrival, to the warm, comfortable and well-appointed room to the delicious breakfasts to my evenings hanging out with my daughter in the parlor to Christine loaning me a warmer coat for the night since I did not come adequately prepared. These are the nicest people, and I doubt there is a more wonderful place to stay while in beautiful Iowa City. I can't wait to come back!

I had a lovely stay at The Brown Street Inn. I came in as a guest of the university and the Inn is very close by. I had an easy time getting to campus as well as to my favorite Iowa City haunts--Prairie Lights and Bluebird Diner, among others. Christine and her family made me feel very welcome. And I really enjoyed her baked treats that were a part of the breakfast spread. I will absolutely stay here again.

Not overly comfy or clean. Lots of dusty areas. The room and bathroom were very small and the bathroom products were minimal and not good quality. The hair dryer barely worked. AC window unit didn’t cool the room well. I literally had to sit in front of it to cool down. The porch had no fan despite over 90 degrees and the table on the porch was not clean. The breakfast was left on a warmer so when we got there it was cold. The owner didn’t have any recommendations of what to see in town and when we asked about certain places he had no idea about them. This is not the kind of B&Bs we are used to.

Yelp
another lovely stay at the Brown Street Inn, my first time with the new owners. my room was comfortable and cozy, linens and other amenities were right on the mark. i had many family events this short stay - so did not get to enjoy what looked like a terrific breakfast but I can testify to the excellence of the morning coffee. The new innkeepers have put their own stamp on things AND preserved the well remembered highly personalized welcome and care when you are a guest. highly recommended.

Sandy S.

Yelp
Where to start...oh yes, the welcome! We were greeted by not only the owners and family but also their lovely pup and a fresh baked cookie. Our rooms were clean and extremely comfortable with great linens. The inn is very welcoming and quiet and breakfast was excellent. We will definitely be back during pirch weather to soak up some more of this great place.

Yelp
Mark at the Inn is a godsend! He was such an incredible help this week with an out-of-the-ordinary request. This is a review based on a unique situation and not an actual stay. I grew up in Iowa City, and there used to be a restaurant called Bushnell's Turtle. The restaurant has been closed for years. On an Iowa City FB group I follow, someone posted that a Bushnell's Turtle Cookbook was created and to email The Brown Street Inn to purchase one. Around Christmastime, I reached out and heard back right away from Mark. I never got around to sending one as a Christmas gift to my mom, like I initially planned, but I decided it would make the perfect Mother's Day gift instead. I reached out to the Inn, knowing they are closed due to Covid-19, and Mark said they still have them in stock. I ordered one for my mom since my parents moved out of Iowa City years ago. After having a lovely conversation with Mark, he put in a nice card to my mom and shipped it to their new home in North Carolina. Today she received it, and she loved it so much, including the card handwritten by Mark. Thank you so much, Mark for going the extra mile. It meant everything in the world to her and me! I hope one day I get to stay at the Inn on a return visit back to my old stomping grounds. Be well.

Yelp
What a delightful experience. This home is beautiful, and the owners couldn't be better. They are kind, helpful, and very interesting people. And the breakfasts--oh my goodness. Delicious. The bed is very comfortable, great amenities (tea station, cold water station, makeup remover towelettes), great attached bathroom, desk if you need to work and fast WiFi. We were very happy that we stayed for 2 nights.

Yelp
Found a used condom under the bed, wasn't ours as we are our beyond child bearing years. Room was dirty. Mentioned to on sight owners, they said sorry, but didn't offer to comp or move us. Would not stay there again or recommend.

Jenn G.

Yelp
What a lovely and comfortable place to stay. Fabulous breakfast and friendly hosts. We enjoyed being close enough to campus and downtown to walk but in a quiet and historic neighborhood. The brick streets are amazing to see. We look forward to staying here again.

Yelp
Oh, Mark. From the rosemary shortbread to the tea station in the upper hallway, you had me at "hello." From now on, Brown Street Inn will serve as my future home base during my quarterly visits to Iowa City. Mark's spot-on hospitality, charming historic home tucked away in the Northside neighborhood and the walkability to several shops and eateries had me creating my next itinerary before checking out. A few notes regarding Brown Street Inn: -budget-friendly with rooms teetering around the $100 price point -located in a charming and safe neighborhood half a mile from great restaurants like Oasisa Falafel, Bluebird Diner and Prairie Light Books (try the ginger cappuccino - you can thank me later) -rooms are themed by color, very clean and come with make up remover toilettes and other fun surprises like mini chocolates -the floors are on the squeaky side but that's to be expected with an older home -the breakfast is extremely impressive - it reminded me of those I've experienced in Europe (pastries, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, cereal/granola, etc.) Stop reading already and make your reservation.

Yelp
I now want to stay in a B&B like this everywhere I go! The owners are so friendly and you can tell they enjoy hosting. Breakfast is wonderful. They make all of the baked goods themselves! Impressive! They have a great selection of tea for breakfast, and in the hall upstairs for anytime. Each afternoon there is a plate of cookies waiting in the hallway. I felt like a spoiled kid in the 60's who got to come home to fresh baked cookies. Price is excellent, especially considering the location. The room was in excellent condition. Very charming, and clean. The bed was very comfortable and plush. I enjoyed climbing into the big bed each night. I am so glad they put in the extra effort to preserve the home's historic charm. The big woodwork and hardwood floors remind me of my sister house, which makes it feel just like home. If I'm every back in Iowa City, I will definitely stay at the Brown Street Inn! If you get a chance to, take advantage of the rocking chairs on the front porch.

Chris V.

Yelp
What a great find! We've stayed at our fair share of B&Bs, especially on the west coast and can say that Brown Street Inn is top quality. The inn keepers, Mark and Bob make you feel right at home and have the gift of knowing how to visit with their guests in a comfortable fashion. The rooms are great (we stayed in the blue room and red room). Very comfortable and private. Nice concept continental breakfast each morning with local jams; great coffee; different scones; muffins; and such each morning (if they have the cinnamon rolls - get them - fantastic!) and upon asking they have gluten free options as well. The neighborhood is great and located near to the downtown area as well as the university. Highly recommend! You can't go wrong!

Karen M.

Yelp
Lovely property, very comfortable room, gracious hosts, delicious breakfast! I would love the opportunity to stay here again.

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Brown Street Inn and absolutely loved everything about it. The home is beautiful and the hosts so friendly and welcoming. It has s lovely front porch with rockers and a table with four chairs. The breakfast was simple, lovely and yummy. Upstairs by the rooms they have wine glasses for your use. We didn't want to leave.

Mark K.

Yelp
I can't add much to what other reviewers have already told you. This is a GREAT B&B. The rooms and common area are well maintained and very relaxing. The breakfasts are wonderful. Mark & Bob are fantastic hosts. An added plus - they give back to the community. They are very involved in a number of organizations that provide support and direction for the community. Thanks for a great experience. We can't wait for a return trip.

Laura W.

Yelp
You cannot beat the price with this charming B&B; the owners prepare a lovely breakfast and will accommodate special diets, including vegan or gluten free. There a nice touches throughout - including a water / tea station in the hall for 24 hour beverages and chocolate chip cookies await when you come in to retire for the evening. The owners are such good people - they make us feel like family.

Yelp
I stayed at the Brown Street Inn back in February of this year. Not the greatest time to be coming to Iowa, but I had a one day even to attend at the University. I'll start off by saying that the Inn itself if super cute and soo cozy. The main lobby has beautiful hardwood floors, comfortable sofas and chairs, nice sized dining room, art, etc. I could sit down there all day with a book and a cup of tea. I stayed in the Blue Room and I loved it! It was roomy, super comfortable bed, large dresser, large bathroom, closet, and you could control the heat. Everything was very, very nice. I would be remiss not to mention the interim manager during the weekend of my stay on February 23rd-24th. Amazing!! She was the epitome of thoughtfulness and helpfulness. She gets an A++++ from me. I highly recommend the Brown Street Inn if you love a cottage, farmhouse, bed and breakfast experience and feel. I do, and will definitely book again for any return trips to Iowa City.

Erin G.

Yelp
I'm so glad we found this Inn for our stay. Our hosts were lovely! There was a terrible storm the evening we arrived and they came up to let us know that there was a tornado warning and that if we needed to go in the basement, they would come get us. When we finally ventured out, we were given a map that showed our destination with the parking areas highlighted. So helpful! They also had umbrellas for us to borrow. There were warm cookies on our arrival, a beverage station outside our room and a DELICIOUS breakfast in the morning. The scones were perfection! I think they thought of everything to make our stay comfortable, welcoming and tasty. The attention to detail was amazing. I hope we have a reason to go to Iowa again soon. We will definitely be staying at the Brown Street Inn!

Yelp
Great quiet retreat from the crazy college experience. Come home to comfortable surroundings, homemade cookies and a lovely fireplace. My husband calls this The Serenity Inn. This is a gem and Mark and Bob are wonderful.

Grace R.

Yelp
Best place to stay in Iowa! Conveniently located near the downtown area, but tucked away in beautiful stone street neighborhood. Beautiful inn and lovely cats greet you at the door. Mark and Bob are an absolute pleasure. Stayed here with my fiancé during the Christmas break. Breakfast in the morning is light with a great presentation. The only improvement I would recommend is the coffee. Please have half-and-half available and make the coffee a little stronger! :) Beautiful inside and outside the house. Can't wait to return! I am never staying anywhere else when visiting Iowa City.

Tom S.

Yelp
What a treat! I was driving from Minneapolis to St. Louis for Thanksgiving and wanted a comfortable place midway to stop over for the night. I was so glad to find the Brown Street Inn and so happy that they were willing to host me the night before Thanksgiving. Mark was the consummate host -- getting me restaurant recommendations for the night I stayed and helping me find a florist for a special occasion I have coming up on a subsequent visit to Iowa City. I spent a delightful, quiet evening listening to classical music and reading in the parlor -- complete with hot tea and freshly baked oatmeal cookies -- a rare treat! Given my need to set out early and complete my trip to St. Louis Thanksgiving morning, I wasn't able to stay for breakfast -- but Mark was up early with hot coffee and a warm send off. I have already booked my return trip.

Josh B.

Yelp
I would like to graciously send thanks to my hosts of last night. My partner and I on a whim decided to make a mini vacation out of driving home from her parents house, and we left Mark feeling absolutely elated. From my initial phone call to book the room to our salutations upon leaving after a wonderful breakfast, I felt as if I was being treated by an old friend. The space is gorgeous, the accommodations personalized, and while affording us as much privacy as we wanted, the warmth of communal environment in the parlor and at the dining room table was such a pleasure. Thank you again for such a wonderful end to a busy weekend.

Jesse L.

Yelp
One of the best B&B we have stayed at. The place is so beautifully done and cozy. My husband and I tried to book a room three previous time and they were booked, now we know why. Our Green room was so nice and comfortable. The bed was great!!! I am all about a good night sleep. Breakfast was delicious, cinnamon bread stuffed French toast with fresh fruits and ham. Plenty of good coffee, pastries and selection of cereals to choose from. Mark and Bob are such great host. It was like staying at our dear friends place. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy more weekends here in Iowa City.

Ted N.

Yelp
The Inn is located on a quiet residential street just north of the central business district. The owners have put a lot of TLC into this inn. It has a warm and welcoming feel to it that matches the owners and hosts. In fact it is the owners that set this Inn apart from others we've stayed in. They are open, unpretentious, and make you feel as if you are part of their family. I can't say enough complimentary things about them. The decor of he common areas is understated and charming. I loved the color scheme and appointments used. They provide plush towels which was greatly appreciated. The building is 100+ years old and you can feel the history of it. The hosts provide a great breakfast with generous portions. They also provide a service so that you can make tea or other beverages without having to go down to the main area. That is a nice touch. We will stay here whenever we come to Iowa City. Based on this review you may ask why only four stars instead of five. Here's why. We stayed in the yellow room and the location of the air conditioning unit is not ideal. It blows directly onto the bed and whoever sleeps on that side of the bed is in for a very cold night. You cannot readily redirect the air. I know it is a minor point but I had trouble sleeping because of it. The ceiling also has some minor peeling plaster which I normally would never have noticed but when you aren't sleeping you notice.

Juan Carlos R.

Yelp
Excellent in every way. We hope to be staying there every time we visit our son who is presently attending University of Iowa. Mark and Bob were very helpful and excellent hosts!

Brennan R.

Yelp
Nice large, clean comfortable room. Pleasent host and hostess. Off street parking. Wonderful large breakfast!! Look forward to staying again!! B & D Reed

Yelp
Exactly what you want out of a bed and breakfast. Nice big house with lots of character. Nice comfortable rooms. Fantastic hosts. Wonderful breakfasts. This place is great and reasonably priced. Mark and Bob clearly enjoying hosting and having guests in their house. Fresh cookies in the afternoon/evening! Don't hesitate to book a room here if staying in Iowa City. You'll have a great experience!

Kim J.

Yelp
I stayed at this charming little B&B this weekend, and I came away feeling very impressed with the experience. Our hosts were caring and gracious, and they were very concerned that we were having a good experience. We stayed in the green room, which had a king bed and lovely views of the neighborhood. The bathroom had a retro feel to it, but was very clean and was more than adequate for our needs. There were always fresh cookies to be had, and the breakfast we had was to die for. The house feels very homey with a raring fire going, nicely decorated Christmas tree, and a cozy couch to curl up on with a book. I loved the charm of this place and can't wait to go back. It's a quick walk downtown, and there's parking in the back if you need to go further than that.

Toni H.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our stay. The house is beautifully furnished with family heirlooms, the rooms are elegant yet comfortable, and the Inn Keepers are thoughtful, personable, and greet you by name. We loved the green room best, but all the rooms are quite nice. Thanks to Mark for the homemade cookies, fresh baked croissants and scones, and all the delicious jams, apple butter and fruits. We will definitely be back!

Casey M.

Yelp
Mark and Bob were great hosts, full of knowledge and laughter. My mom and I visited Iowa City to check out the University of Iowa and decided to stay at the Brown Street Inn to help get to know the people that live here better. It is a quiet, small but extremely homey and comfortable place. Each morning we had a tasteful and balanced breakfast meal prepared for us. During breakfast we were able to learn more about Mark and Bob and their opinions on living in Iowa. They seriously cared about what we had to ask or say. "Iowa kind" is alive and well at the Brown Street Inn!

mark c.

Yelp
Just what you want in a bed and breakfast. The hosts, gracious, and legitimately helpful, not at all pushy or intrusive. Quality everywhere, tasteful, updated. Hotel quality where you want it, like in the bathroom, antiques and comfortable furnishings elsewhere. Really rivals inn's we've stayed at in S.F. Quiet neighborhood, walk easliy to campus or anywhere else. Good off street parking. We'll stay here again when we're in Iowa City.

Jacque A.

Yelp
Home away from home is the Brown Street Inn! Hosts Mark and Bob are so welcoming and make guests feel so comfortable and cared for! When in Iowa City for meetings, for me this is the perfect place to relax and know that a lovely breakfast awaits in the morning!

Brandon D.

Yelp
I had to come in late my first night and communication was excellent about how I was to get my key. Great facilities in an old home in a quiet neighborhood. Easy access to the river trail, close to downtown and good breakfast. Very nice hosts who took care of everything and knew my name. Will stay here again if possible!

Pattie J.

Yelp
A great place to stay. Walking distance from the university with lots of restaurants, shops, and places to eat. The owners are so, so friendly and full of great recommendations. What I love best about this place is that it is 1 1/2 hour from the Field of Dreams movie set tour and 1 1/2 hour from Des Moines. It was a very peaceful and wonderful visit and the Brown Street Inn was icing on the cake.

Mary P.

Yelp
Beautiful home, gracious hosts and excellent food made our stay at the Brown St. Inn delightful. Our room was comfortable and spacious and the owners were knowledgeable about local events and history.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Not a review, rather, a sense of pride since this was my grandparents home in the late 1950s-70s. One of these days I'm going to get there to see it (and bring a picture postcard of it from the days that the Shaffers inhabited it). But so nice that in general people like it.

Harry L.

Yelp
Traveled to Iowa City with friends over the Memorial Day Weekend and very much enjoyed the Brown Street Inn! Bob & Mark were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The location is perfect - a quiet, historic neighborhood, just a few minutes walk from downtown and the Inn itself was well maintained, nicely appointed and incredibly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was top-notch, the afternoon cookies were wonderful and our hosts had maps and great suggestions for restaurants and points of interest - all of which made for a full weekend of food & fun! We hope to return on our next vacation - and will not hesitate to rebook our rooms. This is a B & B that you will not want to miss!

Dan G.

Yelp
Very nice B&B. Comfortable bed, gracious substitute host, elegant if light breakfast, good cookies! We couldn't do anything about the barefoot loudmouth guest who told a racist joke at the breakfast table and then told us to get over it, but that's the risk you take by staying at a B&B, especially in Trump country.

Kallee D.

Yelp
The Brown Street Inn is the absolute best place to stay in Iowa City, in my opinion. My boyfriend and I visited for a long weekend to check out the University of Iowa law school before he starts there in fall. Mark and Bob are great and so fun to talk to; they helped us with everything from finding a restaurant to finding apartments to visit if we move to town. The breakfasts were delicious and there was something different and special each morning. The room was cozy and everything was extremely clean and well cared for. The shower was nice, with plenty of hot water and water pressure. Every day there were freshly baked cookies by the entrance. We really enjoyed the city and the Brown Street Inn played a big role in our experience. Worth every penny!

Kaydee E.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here with my partner last year. Bob and Mark are lovely people (and we are now neighbors!) The rooms are very clean, the landscaping is lovely, and the interior of the home is a museum in itself. Hospitality at its finest. Highly recommend!

Michael F.

Yelp
Just a perfect experience...my first time in Iowa City, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The location was fantastic, the owners were friendly (but gave me space!), breakfast was delicious...I don't typically stay in B&Bs, but I will always stay at the Brown Street Inn now that I'll be in town regularly!

Dawn T.

Yelp
I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay here. It was perfect in every way. Mark and Bob went out of their way to make us feel special and made sure that we had everything that we could need and want during our visit. I have stayed at many different B&B's over the years and this one has to top my list of favorites. The breakfasts were so yummy and plentiful. I loved that I could get coffee early (I am used to a different time zone) and tea anytime I wanted. Cookies in the afternoon were a wonderful treat too! Upon our departure, we had to meet our Uber driver in the freezing rain. Not only did Mark help us with our luggage, but he waited with us, holding umbrellas for us. I would never consider staying anywhere else in Iowa City. Thank you Bob and Mark!

Tom M.

Yelp
The owners are super chill and accommodating. My wife and I spent the weekend there and immediately were welcomed by Mark (owner). He helped us map out our weekend with great suggestions. Their place is super clean and well laid out (I'm a custom builder). The little touches like home made cookies and an absolutely incredible gourmet breakfast won us over. Highly recommend this place!

Dee P.

Yelp
My friend and I stayed at the Inn for 6 nights last month to attend the Iowa Writer's Conference - a great choice because staying there is delightful! The hosts specialize in having their guests feel at home, providing wonderful breakfast experiences and guiding them to sites in the area - ask them about their library of local info. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable! We sat out on the porch enjoying being 'at home.' I highly recommend a stay at The Brown Street Inn! Dee Dee Prince, Laguna Niguel, CA.

Paul J.

Yelp
This B&B is simply the best around. From the wonderful breakfast to the warm greeting at the door, we were so impressed. We stayed in the red room which was so fun and cozy. The hot tea footsteps away in the hall without having to go downstairs made for a relaxing night. Bob and Mark were so gracious in helping us get directions around town and how to avoid traffic en route to our next stop. I couldn't recommend this wonderful bed and breakfast any more.

Will D.

Yelp
What a terrific place to get away from the big city for a long weekend! My partner and I spent a lovely long July 4th weekend here enjoying Mark and Bob's hospitality and breakfasts. The inn is spacious and elegantly appointed but not fussy or stifling-- you can sit and read in the living room or on the porch without feeling that you'll damage something, so it's relaxing and comfortable like your own home. We had the suite on the top floor, which was like a private treehouse. Although we explored the area a bit we also happily spent time there just reading and letting the world go by. The inn is a comfortable walk from town, with Prairie Lights bookstore and Chait Gallery two of my favorite spots. The university gives the town a contemporary vibe while the town itself preserves a lot of small town niceties-- we got a parking ticket that was just a warning! We thought it was a mistake since we come from the land of awful parking (Chicago). We felt at home at Brown Street right away and hope to go back soon. LJ the cat was a big plus, too, in more ways than one.

Keri H.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Iowa, and Brown Street Inn assured that it won't be my last. Mark & Bob helped to make this a truly memorable trip, from the initial greeting until the hugs goodbye. Our group was made to feel like family. The Inn is a feast for the eyes. Each room is impeccably decorated, and the walls are adorned with artwork. Our hosts were warm & friendly, making excellent suggestions for things to do & places to eat. Their love for their community is evident. It was as if the local chamber of commerce had a satellite office at the Inn. It's conveniently located in a quiet historic neighborhood. The front porch is a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee and evening wine. Continental breakfast was ample preparation for the day's adventures. I would recommend the Inn to the vacationer as well as the business traveler. When life takes me back to Iowa City this is where I'll stay.

Jon C.

Yelp
I stayed here over the weekend of December 14-16. This was the first time I've gone the B&B route in Iowa City, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Suffice to say I was very happily impressed. This place provides some of the best lodging you can get in town and they do it for a very fair price too. The house is a beautiful old home, in absolutely A-1 condition. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated - they are not full of kitschy memorabilia as I've been told some B&Bs can be. There is a living room for guests to use, with a fireplace and also a porch for the warmer months. Off-street parking and free wireless internet is included. A great breakfast is included too. They have a computer available for guests to use for free as well, in case you don't have a laptop. All of this for between $80-$110 per room. The location is great too - you can walk to downtown in about 20 minutes, or you can walk over to pick up the free Cambus at the intersection of Church & Dubuque St. in probably about 5 minutes. All in all, this place won me over handily. In the past, I've stayed at the Sheraton, the Iowa House, and the Alexis Park Inn...it's clear to me that the Brown Street Inn gives a much better value than any of these hotels.

Scott S.

Yelp
We have had several guests stay there and they always receive a stellar review. Immaculate, antique-filled house a block down from the Vonnegut house. They don't allow children under 12.

Nikki B.

Yelp
We just stayed at The Brown Street Inn! What a wonderful, beautiful home built in the early 1900's. It is on a lovely tree lined street, in truly the prettiest part of Iowa City. The innkeepers are very attentive without being obtrusive. Excellent breakfast with very interesting table mates. Highly recommend this B&B!

Yelp
Mark and Bob have made our wedding day so special and Brown Street Inn now has a special place in our hearts. We feel blessed to have spent our wedding day here after 15 years waiting to be married. Thank you for all you have done to add magic to our day. We recommend Brown Street Inn to anyone who wishes to celebrate a special day.
