Your cell service will be in and out. Make sure you download whatever you are going to listen 2 if anything. Service drops as soon as you pass the dirt parking area. Starting off is all uphill straight inclines, kinda disrespectful if you're not prepared. Little to no shade. Easy free parking, you can visit the OG Bat cave before starting. This trail leads you to the front and back of the Hollywood sign. Clearly marked, you couldn't get lost if you wanted 2. Trail leads you 2 other locations also. Popular location but not packed on a Friday morning. Weekends might be hectic if you want to park right at the start. There's a hydration station close to the Hollywood sign ( front view). Horse Trail as well, so you will share the trail pretty cool to see. Also, lots of horse poop. It's very nice, definitely a leg workout. Enjoy

This is a decent way to access Griffith Park and provides some decent views as you hike up. You can hike to the Hollywood Sign here, and combined with other trail is hike many peaks in Griffith Park.

Good hike- took about 2.5 hours. This hike gets you close the Hollywood sign. There’s no parking fee or anything. Just drive to the trailhead and park if the park gate is open. Otherwise, I saw a bunch of cars also parked on the street, before the park entrance.

There’s ample parking and a restroom at the parking lot. The trail is about 4-5 miles to the front and back of the Hollywood sign. It’s a gradual accent to the top with some wildflowers along the way such as pansies. Mostly dirt tracks with lots of horse poo because it’s also a horseback trail. The views of the surrounding area and the Hollywood sign is spectacular. Dog is allowed on leash.

Great trail! Lots of horses and horse poo though :/ It definitely was enough to make you nauseous especially if you’re already hot and sweaty from the hike up so mentally prepare yourself. It was a busy trail but people weren’t back to back, there was plenty of space. Even without a map the trail was very well labeled and easy to follow. Can’t wait to do it again.

It is a somewhat challenging 2.6 miles up hill hike from your car to either the Hollywood sign (back) or the Vista point which most people go for photo ops. A little over the first 1.5 miles are all up hill and quite steep in some areas so make sure you are physically fit for this hike. There are no rest rooms along the way so make sure you take care of business in the porta potties at the parking before the hike. Don't be fooled by the wide open trail, it gets muddy and wet after a little rain and can be dangerous on the way down. There are good amount of dogs and horseback riders on a good day so if you are going to bring a dog make sure the dog is well behaved since there are no protective railings on the trial.

I truly LOVE this hike and have done it so many times but wanted to write a review to provide warning to all future hikers - DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR. I 1000% know I locked my car. I even remember looking back and clicking my lock again just for reassurance and I came back to my car having been gone through. I don’t believe they took anything and were likely looking for wallets, but my middle console was open and the items in my backseat all disorganized. We also saw glass in one of the spots where a window was likely broken. Just let this be your fun reminder to take everything with you or leave it home.
