An essential guide to Songkran and where to celebrate it in Singapore - SilverKris

"A revered Buddha image that is taken on a vibrant procession through the city as part of Songkran activities (noted here on 12 April), serving as a focal point for public devotion and ceremonial observance at the start of the festivities." - Nick Measures and Joy Fang

Came to the bay area for a personal pilgrimage and came across this shrine through auspicious coincidence. What a special place Oakland has become for my heart. Thank you to those who have built and kept the maintenance of the shrine. May all beings be free! 🪷

The Buddha of Oakland is still here! I’ve been hoping to see it since I learned about it four years ago in 2019. I live in Lincoln, Nebraska, but came to San Francisco for my birthday and a friend from Alameda helped me find the shrine.

Came here to see this firsthand after the crossover episode on 99-PI detailing the story of the creation of this place. Definitely an interesting gem in an otherwise regular place. There may very well be people praying or visiting the site when you arrive, so keep that in mind. Beautiful place made my beautiful people.

A Miracle is attributed to this shrine. Before the construction of this shrine, the street it is located upon was considered to be a place of ill-repute, a hive of crime and other uncivilized activities. however, since the construction of this shrine, all delinquency and vice have disappeared from this area..........

Had to come to this site myself and see with my own eyes the story I heard on a podcast this morning while driving. Criminal ep119 "He's Still Neutral" with Phoebe Judge, relayed a splendid story about a man and a hardware store Buddha that morphed a traffic diverter in to some kind of beautiful phenomenon. Maybe spiritual guidance, or Divine intervention? I don't know- you tell me! 👋👋👋

This made my day! I was surprised and happy to find this shrine in an adorable pocket of Oakland. It twas a very a quiet and tranquil place. I made my offering, enjoyed the incense, and went on my way. I wish I found more of these around town

Heard about this wonderful story on Criminal podcast. Uplifting tale of optimism and community. I hope to visit from UK one day.

Heart-warming story as told on the Criminal Podcast! If I'm ever in the area, I will definitely pay my respects in real life.

Yelp
Such sweet energy. I loved visiting the Shrine. It is lovingly cared for by community members. We stayed about an hour - there is so much to see in each little shrine. I was glad to see GuanYin so prevalent in each shrine. Thanks to all who hold this space

Yelp
I lived a block away over on East 18th, so I visited it regularly for peaceful meditation. It has really improved since I last visited in 2014. I posted pics of what it looked like back then. Much nicer and more secure today.
