The food was genuinely good, fresh, tasty, and creative vegetarian dishes. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t live up to what I was hoping for. I’m travelling solo and had booked a table for one, really looking forward to this dinner as a little highlight of my day.
When I arrived, I was seated at a small table right by the entrance. It felt like I was on display, no view except for the door, staff conversations, and a sense of being in the way. All around me, couples and groups were seated in the larger, much nicer dining room, which was nearly empty when I arrived. It would have made a big difference to have been seated there or at least offered the choice.
To add to the awkwardness, the menu was presented only on a board placed quite far from where I was sitting, difficult to read and not explained. I ended up having to ask a staff member to walk me through it, which they did, but it felt like I was interrupting. These kinds of handwritten menus work much better when a waiter introduces the dishes properly, especially for guests dining solo.
I’d read online that Tuesday was a vegetarian night, and while there were plenty of vegetarian options, the concept wasn’t clearly introduced or highlighted, it felt like that detail had been left behind.
I wouldn’t return alone, but I imagine it’s a much nicer experience if you’re with friends or seated in the main room. The food really was good, I just didn’t feel taken care of as a solo guest.
