Super friendly service, hard workers; clean; indoor and outdoor seating. Great craft beer selection. Food outstanding. We had the 'smokey' and one with tater toys and a friend egg and 'ski sauce'. Both so yummy. Delicious onion rings that weren't all batter and I appreciated that I could get a salad as my side. It was a great salad-- the dressing was a little different. Highly recommend.

If you love messy, flavorful burgers with crispy, salty fries, this is the spot for you. The Burger Stand gave us excellent, friendly service & were great with our kids. I will be back whenever I’m in the area!

Google
Friendly service, indoor and outdoor seating, a varied menu making choosing difficult ! Have to say this green chilli burger was the best I think I’ve eaten, the fries too were better than any I’ve eaten for a long time.

Great little place. Sweet potato fries were good and the fried chicken sandwich was pretty descent, just a little over cooked. Low pressure, casual environment.

I have been stopping by the Burger Stand every time I am in Taos. Loved the Kobe burger with sweet potato fries. Today was no different. I waded through the construction looking forward to a burger and fries or onion rings. I walked into an almost empty room. There were four adults and a couple of kids. I walked to the counter to order and the waitress was busy tending to customers. It took her a while to notice me and said she'd be with me soon. I waited and waited as she walked around the corner and never came back. So I left. Why should I spend my money in an establishment that obviously did not want my business. So I drove back to Santa and ate at the Cowgirl. Enjoyed my burger and sweet potato fries .

Google
Awesome 🍔 burgers and the onion rings were made with beer batter made them so delicious. The parmesam truffle French fries are great! Don't forget to try the different sauces they have out for you. It is a bar too so that is the only reason I gave the atmosphere a 3 star (not my gig). Not much parking but there is some street parking. Open every day 11-10. Outdoor seating also. People are super friendly! They have highchairs too! Handicap parking up front

Tasty burger on the smaller portion size. Great tasting salad. Good selection of beers, plenty of seating. Convient location with indoor + outdoor tables.

We stayed right across from The Burger stand and so it was a very convenient place to go after a long day of sight seeing. The restaurant has easy parking, outdoor as well as indoor seating with a casual flare. It has a very friendly and artistic vibe and also live music going on sometimes. Where most of the eateries close at 5.00pm in Taos this place is a savior to be open till 10pm. The washroom can take some updating and fresh paint. They have the best burgers in the town! The right heat, flavours and textures to satisfy all your senses. The sides are freshly made and not from a frozen bag. Very impressed and highly recommended.

Yelp
First, it was sprinkling and we had our pup with us. They asked if we wanted to come inside and told us our pup was welcome. We actually were enjoying the cool and refreshing weather. That act of kindness meant a lot. The food is really good and when my sweet potato fries came out not quite the way I ordered them the young lady had a fresh batch out in the blink of an eye and didn't mind taking the one I originally ordered back. Definitely will stop here again when we are back in Taos.

Yelp
This place was horrible. They gave me 9 wings instead of 10. The bartender charge us for double fries. They told us that they thought we were undercover cops because we had real horizontal Texas IDs. We were the only group at the restaurant and it was comedy night, therefore they called us out on the microphone twice calling us undercover cops and underage. The food was not good. The burgers were bad and they ran out of the sauces that were supposed to be with fries. The service was horrible and they got our orders wrong and belittled us. They had no marshmello sauce. The vibe is uncomfortable and I'm like 90% sure they spit in our food.

Steve S.

Yelp
This is the dirtiest place I've come across in Taos. Beer glasses show every sign of being unclean. Bathrooms were filthy. Bartenders were not washing their hands creating more cross contamination I've ever seen in my 40 years in the industry. The food was practically inedible. Burger patties were hockey pucks. Overly sauced to hide how bad they were. Chicken sandwich had so much sauce falling out of it there was more sauce than chicken. This place should close for two months for deep clean and repairs. They should be ashamed to provide service like this.

Cristal F.

Yelp
We went in for lunch and there was plenty of seating. You have to get in line at the register to order and pay immediately but they deliver the food directly to the table. It was kept at a cool temperature and the food was delicious. It is a relaxed place to relax and eat. I definitely will visit again before leaving.

Jake T.

Yelp
The overall decor of the place is awesome. The staff is very friendly and we're accommodating to our large group. Good beer selections and a very diverse menu. Got the green chili cheese burger which was good but the patty didn't seem to have much if any seasoning. The green chili with pepper jack was awesome though. I'd absolutely come back.

JC F.

Yelp
Laid back atmosphere at the Burger Stand in the Taos Ale House. You order your food at the bar and they will bring it to your table. So many great choices for burgers, although for two nights in a row we ordered the Black Diamond chicken sandy. It came with fries, however we ordered a salad. The salad was fresh mixed greens, dried cranberries and sunflower seeds. It comes with a tangy apricot vinaigrette. The black diamond was scrumptious. Diced green chiles, a well seasoned chicken breast, ranch dressing and topped with habanero cream cheese. It is a spicy sandwich so don't be surprised. Best meal we had for dinner the five nights we were in town.

Erik S.

Yelp
excellent staff, good beer and food. favorite place ever, no. but like i said- excellent staff, good beer and food. nothing to write home about but i think the staff makes up for it

Katie N.

Yelp
Great spot for a delicious burger, bar atmosphere and great staff. I stopped in on Saturday afternoon and was greeted as soon as I walked up to the counter. The server was personable and very accommodating. I ordered the FlameThrower and fries. The jam on that burger made it!!! Perfectly cooked and paired with a great soft bun.

Jordan W.

Yelp
A nice spot for a burger and a beer in Taos, we stopped in to this spot for a weekend lunch after visiting the nearby Pueblo. After starting off with a basket of sublime fried pickles and local New Mexican brew, we enjoyed green chile veggie burgers and fries. Relaxed and no frills, a classic lunch spot while in the mountains.

Christina T.

Yelp
We checked it out based on a local recommendation and were excited to try it. When we got in, the friendly wait staff let us know that they were out of several items due to a super busy weekend. It was nice to have that communication when we walked in. Ordered our meal, but ended up being pretty disappointed in the food. The buns on the burger were burnt. The burgers lacked flavor and the tater tots looked like they were cooked in a dirty fryer. LOVED the orange cranberry cider, but the cup that the Pepsi was in smelled like either bleach or sanitizer. Staff was great but the food was disappointing.

Mark C.

Yelp
I'm not a foodie but eating here was rough. Burger was burnt/dry and salad was wilted. Fries were soso but cold. Too many strikes to return. Pass the stand if you're reading this. Save your hard earned money, unless you get completely drunk first then eat after then it might be edible. From my wife: " for a burger stand their burgers were not that good."

Brad S.

Yelp
Food was OK but overpriced. I'd be willing to bet the hamburger patty was pretty much what you get at work Whataburger.

Sarah C.

Yelp
One of if not the only late night eatery in Taos and the food and service are great. Lots of beers on tap, the wings, green chile cheeseburger & green chile hot dog were awesome.

Rachel C.

Yelp
Amazing Burgers, fries and local beers. Cool vibe to eat in or out. The guy taking our order was super friendly, immediately felt like we've could've talked with him forever. The food was delicious! I loved the variety of sauces. My favorite was the Garlic Aioli to dip my truffle fries in. Heaven.

Sharon H.

Yelp
Visited the Taos location after arriving in town later in the evening. Looked like a cool place to grab a burger and a beer after most places in town were closing. Their late nite menu had burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. The regular menus does have a morning star alternative burger. Asked the server if they could prepare that instead of a meat burger as I'm vegetarian. "No, sorry, it's no on the late nite menu." It's literally the same cooking process, in fact it's frozen. Out of the freezer, onto the grill. We asked if the server could ask the cook if it was possible and he refused. Very disappointing. Seemed like a reasonable swap. We ended up leaving, as the server wouldn't even try to accommodate this dietary request.

Susan E.

Yelp
We were staying across the street from The Burger Stand, and decided to try it on a recent Tuesday for an early dinner. The place's name is somewhat misleading in that it's more of a bar / beer joint than a burger place. The food is a mix that happens to include a variety of burgers (meat and non-meat), chicken sandwiches, and fish & chips. There are quite a few varieties of fries, including sweet potato fries, fries cooked in duck fat, and truffle fries. There's a good kids' menu, very reasonably priced. There's a very good selection of beer and ales, and a very limited wine selection. Food orders are taken at the bar and delivered to your table. My husband had the Barnyard Bash, a chicken sandwich. He chose sweet potato fries as his side. I had fish and chips, choosing sweet potato fries as well. Everything tasted pretty good...particularly the fries. I wish the deliveries included more napkins, but there's an island with plenty of those. There's plenty of indoor seating, but we wanted to eat outside where there was a quieter covered area. Unfortunately, the outdoor tables had flies feasting on whatever hadn't been cleaned up from previous visitors, so we ended up inside. The portion sizes were good, but the tab was quite hefty for bar food IMO... even for Taos.

Jaleebi S.

Yelp
Taos is a cool little town no doubt. Naturally I wanted a matching restaurant for lunch that had a dog friendly patio for four weary travelers and the Burger Stand was a perfect fit. First I can't say enough about how friendly and inviting the staff were. The young lady who sat us and loved on the dogs, the chef who brought them a piece of bacon and our server who made sure we were well taken care of. This crew could work a five star steakhouse! We shared the fish and chips and it was fresh, crunchy and delicious. Accommodating, fresh, friendly and located on the strip in a gorgeous town. Check it out!

Kelly B.

Yelp
Very meh. Food (burgers) OK, out of a lot of beers on tap (finally gave up and had a Bud Light), staff definitely on the, uh, unpolished side. Kind of dingy on the patio Dog-friendly.

Bob J.

Yelp
Understaffed. Spilled our beer. One order of fries too salty to eat and replaced but not with the duck fat fries we ordered. Worst, order of wings undercooked and inedible. These too were replaced. Parking in dedicated, unpaved lot, is limited. You can't get out of here for less than $14 for a burger and fries. Add a drink and you are in the $20 range. For that price I expect something very good. This fell short. I was relatively happy with the chicken sandwich, although it was too dry. But my wife's meal, as outlined above, was not good and had to be redone entirely. My fries were from the bottom of the bag, all very short and there just weren't enough. I had a local Kolsch which was good and my wife loved the cider she got to drink. The cider was the best thing about the experience. For $73 dollars for dinner, I expect something very good, and to leave full. Unfortunately, there were quality issues here and I was looking for another meal before I left the table! It was July 4th so maybe staff called in sick? The lines were long so locals seem to like the place. I wish I lived in Taos but if I did I don't think I'd be a regular here based on this experience. I'm generously giving three stars. Very funny bathroom door sign really had me laughing during what was an otherwise somewhat disappointing experience.

Shannon H.

Yelp
Great relaxed ambience for chilling and having a beer and bite to eat. Totally duh the music! Both bartenders were friendly and made sure we were enjoying ourselves!

Michael B.

Yelp
We tried four different burgers. All were excellent as were the onion rings. Beer selection was good.

Jessica F.

Yelp
Positive: Super beer selection Taking me way back to my metal/emo band days with the cast music selection Negatives: If you come here and you are like, I'm pretty sure I'm going to die if I don't eat soon - you will die. Period. Have been waiting for well over an hour and we are STILL WAITING. People who came in after us have been served, the guy before us, got food and ate. We are starving.

Lucy M.

Yelp
Service was poor. Food just ok. Felt uncomfortable there. Guess not my style of eatery.

Robert H.

Yelp
Great location but food took forever. Pretty unforgivable for a place that offers burgers that can be grilled rapidly in 5 to 10 minutes tops. It was taking an hour or more. They did not have a complicated menu so did not understand the delay. Nice patio for outdoor dining so we had a pleasant wait at least.

Glori V.

Yelp
Thought they would be open, but they close the kitchen early! So can't try it after all. Turns out this is a common occurrence in Taos If you want or need to eat late. Looks good. Bar open.

A L.

Yelp
Stopped in After shredding Taos SV so good food was a must and after being burned by other restaurants we stopped at during our trip we were skeptical. The burger stand changed our minds the burger was so delicious I pretty much ate it in 3 bites I had a hatch green Chile burger and parm fries w/ onion rings the burger was flavorful and juicy, the fries were bomb they also have an excellent selection of beers to pair with your food. This place will always be a must stop when passing through Taos.

Don G.

Yelp
Place was crowded and told 30 minute wait for food......Waited over 1 hour for our order, 4 classic burgers and 5 sides to go. No one came to check while we waited. Asked waitress to check, told being prepped......untrue! Asked front lady to check, told our order (which was to go) had been given to someone else. We had walked to pub, so kind of locked in. Waited another 15 minutes and took order back to room. Burgers were all undercooked....2 to the point of having cold pink centers. NONE had vegetables, 1 had no cheese. Fries were good. Won't be back.

Lau H.

Yelp
Came with some friends and Apparently the green chili burger is popular in Taos so of course had to give it a try. It was okay. I have them a 3 star because we never got the pickles we ordered and didn't realize it until we left. Also, they forgot to give me the Yelp fries and I had to go up and ask (almost forgot about this one too until I realized my plate looked bare) They weren't busy either so not sure what happened there. Service was good but they seem to forget items so make sure you get everything. Not a big fan of the whole mask mandate either, makes no sense to wear a mask then take it off when you eat and someone walks by you or sits near you, but that's not their fault. Also, I ordered medium on my burger and it came out well done, a bit dry for my liking. I didn't finish my burger and ate my bfs instead Their duck fries are delicious and the garlic and marsh mellow sauce were good!

J W.

Yelp
used to be our go-to lunch spot but it has finally deteriorated to the point that i will never set foot in there again. constant staff turn over always tells you something. the beer menu is awful and the prices outrageous for the product. too bad, the cooks are still there and still good people. the owner is an idiot.

Margaret S.

Yelp
After our original restaurant pick fell through at 3pm we rolled into town absolutely starving. The Burger Stand was literally the first open restaurant we saw. We walked in, grabbed a few menus and waited where it said "order here." Well we didn't realize the entire bar was waiting to order too! I assumed people at the bar were there for drinks. So we got into the line. 15 minutes later we were finally able to order. The cashier was at least upfront with the 30 minute wait time for food. We finally ordered our food and then realized there were no open tables. At 3pm. So we stalked a group that was nearly done with their food and snagged the table after they left. Had to wait nearly 10 minutes for an employee to clear away all the dirty dishes. But she never returned to clean off the (obviously dirty) table. I was ready to get up and leave at this point. Our food was finally delivered to us after a 30 minute wait. Highly recommend the toasted marshmallow sauce with the sweet potato fries. While the food was really flavorful it didn't make up for the poor service.

Mark A.

Yelp
We needed a place to eat and this was literally the first place I saw that looked open so we stopped. With that said, I was happy to go to the ale house and would probably go there if I'd had more time to plan it. The food was good. I got a green chili cheeseburger and split a large order of sweet potato fries with my wife. We both liked our food, though the fries were a bit small considering we got the large. They were amazing with the toasted marshmallow sauce. I was also impressed with their beer selection. They had at least 20 different beers on tap including Bourbon County Stout. Impressive! I had a local microbrew and enjoyed it. So if their food and beers are so great, why do I only give them 3 stars? Because their service was awful. The setup was weird. I stood near the register, hoping to place my order and was told in a not so nice way the line wrapped around the bar. I'm sorry, I thought the people at the bar were drinking at the bar. Guess not. The place was full and we had to wait to get a table until someone left. When they did, we sat down. Eventually, someone came to clear the table and take away the previous people's stuff, but nobody ever came to clean the table, I had to do it myself. Someone eventually brought us our food but that was the only time anyone checked on us. I heard someone ask the next table if they needed more drinks or whatever but we never got any attention. The service was awful, practically nonexistent. Here's the thing with this place - the place is cool, but the service sucks. Food/drinks get 5 stars, service gets 1 star; this averages out to 3 stars.

Courtenay O.

Yelp
Busy place! Yet gentleman behind the bar was friendly, patient, and efficient. We ordered the classic dog and classic burger. Also got a small fry which would have been free instead of $3 IF I'd checked in on YELP first. No worries as we do support small businesses. The wifi was free, which we appreciated. Our food was delivered quickly by the same guy who took our order. We sat where there were chairs, as directed. Outside was fully seated, so we were inside across from one TV, and under another. The small fries were enough for both of us. The burger was huge and delicious, according to Husband. My hot dog was good size, on a toasted bun. It, too, was delicious. We came up from Albuquerque to see the National Monument and Gorge Bridge. This was a welcome place to stop for lunch.

Bob S.

Yelp
I marked maybe for recommending this business because of their inconsistency. They can be really great -- like really great. Relaxed and friendly with memorably good burgers. What I hear from the true regulars is that a new manager arrived fall 2023. Evidently the manager came in with a reputation for clearing out employees. The quality of both the food and the atmosphere has recently declined. The last burger I had took an hour -- and I think it was cooking the whole time! It was like a charcoal briquette. I'll go back again, but If the rumours of a 13oz pint for $7 are true, I won't be going back until there is a change. I believe the owner lives out of state. That's never good.

Brian L.

Yelp
Staff was great. Beer selection was pretty wonderful and the food was really damn good. Flavorful and encapsulated the geographical cuisine really well. You won't be disappointed if you come!

Denise W.

Yelp
Great burgers great service. Taos has a lot of options but this one is definitely on top

Nora O.

Yelp
Stopped in while visiting Taos and we had a pretty good meal. My boyfriend got the green hatch chile burger and said it was good. I had the vegetarian mushroom burger and it was very tasty. Just wanted to order a side of fries and they didn't have those, which seemed a bit odd but overall good experience

Chris R.

Yelp
Ordered the special in which my bun came out soggy. Cool, I could have went and asked for a new burger or refund but that would require me to wait in line while the person who can't read the menu asks a million questions. Service isn't bad but you have to order and find your seat, they will deliver the food but refills and orders are made from one register and maybe two if the bar isn't full. To be voted best burger in town, I wasn't impressed by the service or quality of food I received.

Scott A.

Yelp
Well done is not what I ordered. Medium rare is what I ordered. I stay at El Pueblo at least 4 times a year.the burger stand has gotten my order wrong at least 4 out of the last 6 times I have been there. They will not get anymore of my money.Kobe BurgerKobe

Pamela F.

Yelp
Thin, tasteless, flat burger. What happened to the thick juicy burgers that were served here previously? I CANNOT recommend The Burger Stand. Food has gone downhill. Too bad. It now serves less-than-mediocre burgers. ‍

Melva S.

Yelp
Smoke burger Applewood smoked bacon, Gouda cheese, Bloody Maria barbecue Sauce with a piña colada sprinkled with Tajín The buns were soft fluffy and airy the meat was juicy baño wait to order on a Monday afternoon enjoyed eating outdoors people watching

Yelp
Oops I did it again! I loved my meal at the Burger Stand in Taos. Located near the quaint downtown, Burger Stand is the perfect spot to imbibe and chow down for several reasons. First, the vibe. When you walk in this joint you are greeted by an eclectic mix of people always. The service staff usually look too cool, a bit standoffish, but fun. They have a bar inside with lots of taps on the walls. They have an extensive list of local beers, and we inquired about gluten free options - they offered a Blood Orange cider and one gluten removed IPA. Great choices, we each enjoyed those. For our meals we chose the barnyard bash, catfish poboy and kids corn dog. Oh yeah, and the duck fat fries to share! Don't forget to try all their amazing sauces that are totally out of the box. Think marshmallow sauce on duck fat fries. That combo alone is what sold us on this spot years ago... the first time we visited. We love sitting outside on their patio, you never know who is going to drive by or walk by and amaze you. Today they were playing 90's rock over the speakers. No Doubt, Bush, Everclear, Nirvana, Soundgarden... and that soundtrack took us straight back to our first concerts and high school days. Nice work Burger Stand.

Mirror M.

Yelp
So. far as I can tell someone must've bought The Burger Stand here in Taos and turned it into a whopping piece of crap. I went in for a burger today. The utterance 'lol' comes to mind. Not going to be polite here. It wasn't simply an 'off' day. They're now competing with McDonald's. What a shame. You want a decent burger? Go to Five-Star or The Gorge.

Dante J.

Yelp
Call me needy, but I like to be served my meal BEFORE I finish my beer. I like to have my food served at the very least WARM. And I prefer NOT to hear my server say "oh, THERE you are" when she delivers my meal. And that's not even factoring in the surly order taker. I'll never be coming here again.

Trish G.

Yelp
My husband, dog, and I really enjoyed our visit here twice. The first time, we ordered dinner to-go. Loved that they have several vegetarian options and are dog friendly. Food was fresh, flavorful, and unique. We returned the following day with our pup and enjoyed local beers on tap as well as a few New Mexican cocktails. Friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommend this place.

Wendy W.

Yelp
Ordering is a little confusing at first, but the food is good & the beers are great! We'll go back.

Dan K.

Yelp
I decided to give them one last chance. But as usual my order got screwed up and the bar tender was very rude. Will never waste my money or time there again. And I live in Taos, not a tourist.

Shawn M.

Yelp
Short version: If you appreciate good service DO NOT come here. Worst service I'd have in years! To the owner/ manager: Your employee with the Pink Floyd shirt is the absolute worst representative you could have greeting customers and taking orders. I'd be shocked if you weren't losing money from the way he treats people. I'd never go back! Long version: I came in twice last week, once in the afternoon on Monday, and again Friday night. Both times was greeted by the same guy with a hat, shaggy hair, glasses, and Pink Floyd (or something similar) shirt. On Monday, he was rude and dismissive, so much so that it was a shock to the system, like "What's his problem?" But I had just got to Taos for my first time and was in such a great mood that I didn't think anything of it and actually forgot about the experience. Friday night I went back and was greeted by the same guy, which I didn't remember as I had completely forgot about the first experience. As he was taking my order, I asked to have the bun burnt and he about had a melt down, literally. He said something to the effect of "Our system won't allow us to do special orders" in a very rude, unnecessary barking manner, mumbling some things under his breath. I responded with, "That's odd, I was here Monday and ordered the same way and it wasn't an issue." The weak part is that the kitchen is literally 8 feet behind the register, he could have walked up to the cook and just made the request (which I ended up doing myself after ordering). But of course you wouldn't do that when you hate your job. He proceeded to type the very simple request into the computer, his hands shaking, while he repeatedly shook his head in frustration that a customer would ask such a question. He was so pissed that it took about 20 seconds to type it out (you know how you get when you get so mad that your hands shake). After we got through that tough request, I then boldly asked for my fries to be burnt too, and he gave the same response. Attitude for days, for no reason. Then, I noticed that the menu said "Ask about our special housemade sauces" or something. I was hesitant to ask because he was so angry but I asked and he gave such a disrespectful, rude, unnecessary response and gesture. He turned around, pointed at the sauces behind him, and said something to the effect of "Same as they were yesterday when you came in." That's when I remembered him from the other day, because I had asked where the napkins & hot sauce were, and he pointed and snarled under his breath. Completely unnecessary, rude, and again the absolute worst representative you could have greeting your customers. We almost walked out as he was taking our order. I run a service based business and if I were the owner of this joint I would let this individual go. I'd imagine he's costing you more in lost revenue from customers like me who don't come back. He seems like he's one "special request" away from snapping, and I don't mean that to be mean or insulting, it's just how he's presenting himself. Whatever it is that's going on in his life, he's not in the right frame of mind to help people :(. If you care about service, do not go here, there are plenty of other restaurants in town who appreciate their customers. Again to the owner, sorry to rate you so poorly but I don't even remember the burger. The terrible experience with the host overshadowed the food.

Julie R.

Yelp
This place sucks. I would definitely NOT return here. It took 50 minutes from the time we ordered for two burgers and a basket of fries. To top off the extreme wait time for something that should definitely not even take half that amount of time, it cost $35 for that. I understand I'm from Albuquerque and Taos tends to charge more for the same or less quality, but it was still expensive for what you actually got. The register gave the option to tip in advance, which my boyfriend reluctantly did ($7) yet had we known it was going to take so long and be so small. They also "couldn't find their mayo", so I had a small, dry burger.

L G.

Yelp
We stopped in for a bite today, and we weren't disappointed. Our visit started with a greeting from a soft spoken, friendly bartender/server. The market salad was on special, and the description sounded good (spring mix, bacon, feta, blueberries, sliced peaches, and balsamic vinaigrette), and I was convinced I was going to get that. When I looked at the full menu, falafel caught my eye, so I ended up ordering that--and was able to get the market salad as a side! Both were delicious. The kids had a cheeseburger and fries. Pretty standard fare, but I will mention that the bun was either made in house or at a local bakery as it did not look or taste like a store bought bun. We also got a green chile cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. A good amount of heat from the chile, a thick patty, and cheese was nestled in the bakery bun as well. While we didn't order from the beer selection, they had a solid lineup. When we come back, the mango or watermelon offerings will hopefully still be available for me to order.
