The Burren Smokehouse

Wonderful shop with lots of information about salmon. A beautiful grab and go area with many types of cold smoked and traditional smoked salmon and fish. Also specialty Irish crackers, Irish cheese, wonderful selection of wine and other sides including mustards. We also appreciate the fair pricing for Irish knitwear including sweaters, scarves, hats and gloves. We purchased some beautiful scarves, cheese, salmon crackers and a bottle of wine.

The Burren Smokehouse was fantastic and really good value at €8 per person to watch an audio introduction about smoking salmon and then getting to try some, aswell as exploring the self guided exhibition about fishing in Ireland, rules, regulations and benefits etc. Well worth the experience. The staff were so friendly aswell.

The Burren Smokehouse has a great education center. We were not there when the restaurant was open. The products are delicious, but we unfortunately arrived after a group of Scandinavian tourists so the smoked fish and other products were swarmed. We were lucky that they left some fish behind. The smoked fish was delicious so I highly recommend a stop if you like this type of food.

I really loved this place. Unfortunately, due to limited time, I couldn’t fully enjoy it, but they offer very high-quality products. I hope to come back with more time and experience the Atlantic Salmon tour.

We had a fantastic time with Orla, who led our group. There was a small mixup where we were double booked with a tour but Orla handled it beautifully and gave an informative and interactive presentation! So friendly and welcoming, it was eye opening and the samples were delicious! Thanks Orla!

We watched a informative video about the smoking process, it was a great way to learn more about the craft behind their products. We picked up some delicious items for a picnic: smoked salmon, cheese, crackers and lemonade. Everything was perfect! Thank you for the warm welcome and for taking the time to explain the different types of smoking. A great experience overall, highly recommended!

Lots of recommendations to check this place out, so we did. Very good smoked salmon - both hot and cold. Nice, very clean, tasting room and gift shop/gourmet grocery. They were out of some selections, so I'm not sure if we caught them out of season, or what. You can order online, but it would have been nice to save some shipping costs. Very friendly, and prices are good for the things they have. TIP: Use the car park just west of the smokehouse for both the smokehouse and the Roadside Tavern.

The region advertises the burren area as a bit of a culinary oasis, which is a bit of a stretch, but with places like this perhaps a bit less so. Watch the video too: I smoke salmon myself at home and I learned a few things both from it and the shopkeeper.

Stumbled onto this gem during our trip in Ireland. Almost missed it because it is easily confused with the Burren Smokehouse which closed earlier. Had a delicious Burren dark beer and my wife and I shared 2 plates, the fig and sausage plates. Loved them both. Be warned the sausage plate had a tasty but intense spice.

Great smoked salmon available for tasting. This is a good place for a quick stop on the way to the Cliffs of Moher if you like smoked salmon. The salmon here is fresh and delicious. They have a short movie, around 7 minutes, that details the smoking process.

Their products are SO GOOD. if you get a chance, definitely stop by the store and the visitor's center. They are super friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Best of all, they give you samples of their salmon to try before you purchase. Be warned though: once you try them, the likelihood of actually purchasing increases significantly.

A great place to buy souvenirs, they have a great selection. A must for anyone who likes salmon. The staff are very pleasant.
