"The trendy Amsterdam -Noord district is home to the city’s newest outpost of the famed burger joint called the Butcher. Set inside the hip designer hotel Sir Adam, the sprawling, dual-level space is pure fun, with table tennis, pinball, billiards, and live DJs five nights a week. Open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 1 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, this is where you’ll find chic young locals devouring gourmet burgers and fries and sipping fancy cocktails. The waterfront terrace offers excellent views of the IJ River. It’s a free five-minute ferry ride to the restaurant from Amsterdam’s main train station."

The burgers here are absolutely amazing – juicy, flavorful, and perfectly made. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The atmosphere is lovely, stylish, and inviting – the perfect place to enjoy a great meal in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

Google
The restaurant is well located and has a modern atmosphere. The fish & chips were good and the staff were friendly, which made the experience pleasant. Prices for the food were reasonable, but paying €7.63 (including. VAT) for half a litter of water is ridiculous

Google
Service was impressively quick and super friendly from the start. The burger was incredibly juicy and full of flavor one of the best I’ve had in the city. The whole place has a great vibe, and the view from the terrace is absolutely stunning. Perfect spot to relax and enjoy good food with good people.

We stopped by for some lunch. The food is quite good. The price is reasonable about 20 euros per plate. It’s a good deal considering you are in touristy area. The service is slow mainly to staffing.

Google
Great spot for burgers, and from what I heard from everyone at our table, they were excellent. I’m a vegetarian, so I went for the Corn ribs and fries and both were really good. We had a large party and the service was surprisingly quick for as many of us as there were. Loads of entertainment options, games, lots of open space and high ceilings. Overall great experience.

Google
We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we ate here twice during our stay in Amsterdam! The food is great, really enjoyed the drinks selection and there’s a great atmosphere. I would recommend the chicken burger, absolutely delicious! Sometimes a bit difficult getting the wait staff to notice you but not too bad of a wait.

Google
Went for the chicken burger. It’s not spicy at all despite what it was advertised. The fries were dry. The venue is very decent with a live dj and arcade games.

Google
The service was a bit slow and not present, we sat as a group of six outside. Other than that the food was absolute mind blowing and amazing. The burgers are really really good. Also had the sweet potato fries and those were very tasty as well! Would definitely come back, regardless of the service, this place deserves 5 stars foodwise, heerlie de peerlie!

Yelp
On the ground floor of the Sir aAdam Hotel, the Butcher offers great breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the hotel, and locals. For breakfast there is a buffet, which offers plenty of cold items, and offers one hot item from the kitchen. Lunch and dinner, Burgers are the specialty. We tried both Breakfast and Dinner. We found the food at both to be of excellent quality, and taste. Wel prepared by Tomosasso and Jun Jun. service provided by Rakib, Marie, and others were also great. Prices were reasonable considering this was a hotel restaurant.

Yelp
//5 stars for service and ambience My clear intention was not for burger but for the cocktails. They had a great selection of cocktails on their menu. To ease my stomach I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries. Sweet potato fries came with the typical condiments - ketchup and Mayo. The actual fries were long wedges and were not over fried that caused it to be too dry. It had the sweet and savory flavor from the potato and salt respectively. Main part are the cocktails. I picked a gin variety to be consist. First drink was the Cordial Beat. It's a multi color mixer that has a look of greatness and honestly a decent but forgetful drink. It was photogenic with its purple top and beige bottom - I recommend mixing before trying. Overall a decent first drink. The second but the winner for me is the Verdant- the midori stands out from the mix. Served in a coupe glass it was smooth and light. I can have seconds and more. The slight sourness from the lemon is complemented with the sweetness from the simple syrup. I recommend you try it. Customer service was great. I sat at the bar and within maybe 3-5 min I was acknowledging and I put in my order. The fries came out within a couple of minutes and got my first cocktail around the same time too. Inside- it a really nice looking place at night. The color scheme is dark but well lit for walking around. They had a DJ there - unsure if it's every day kind of thing but he was placing nice disco techno. Next time I'll try the burger and see. However if you're grabbing drinks - I recommend this place. Update: I tried their Bunless Burger. They did not ask me how I wanted the meat to be cooked so it was served well done, topped with a portobello mushroom. It wasn't the greatest but it was decent enough for me. I would recommend coming here for the drinks mostly or if you are here in the morning - check out their brunch.

Yelp
I was staying at the Sir Adam Hotel upstairs and checked out the The Butcher Social Club for the breakfast buffet. The decor inside is hip and modern with lots of natural light and space to sit. It was fairly empty when I walked in and the service was a bit disorganized. After 15 minutes, a server came to greet and I was on my way to get my plate for breakfast. When I got back to my seat, a cup of coffee was placed and from the buffet can order one item from 'The Morning Glory'. I ordered the Poached eggs and avocado which was descent. I would come here not expecting a Vegas buffet spread and probably skip the buffet and just go with a single dish with a coffee. Who needs a buffet when you're in a town like Amsterdam with the FEBO food vending machines.

Yelp
A great experience at this restaurant which shares the same building as the Sir Adam's hotel. I would stick with the main items like their delicious burgers or chicken schnitzel as we found these much more tasty than the chicken wings or popcorn chicken. Service was attentive and friendly.

Yelp
I was looking for an afternoon snack and ordered onions rings and peach ice tea. What came to me was six (6) onion rings in a bag and about 6 oz. of tea. I was so disappointed in the amount of onion rings and the small portion of tea. The service was two stars and they were not welcoming. I was again felt underwhelmed. I would not recommend this over-priced, under-appealing place to eat. Yuck! Stay away.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! I attended a private party tonight! Provided was a delicious tasting menu... spicy tomato salad, mini cheeses burger , falafel burger, roasted baby cauliflower, fish and chips, and chicken thigh in ras Al hanout, all of it was delicious... we enjoyed wine cocktails... what a celebration!!! Amazing views of the canal

Yelp
Great food for descent price. Really enjoyed the food as well as the bar area. Would def recommend this spot

Yelp
Honestly this place was a real mixed bag.the location was great right next to the water and the restaurant is laid out very comfortably. There's pool and ping pong and a lot of places to relax. I thought the service was pretty bad, unfortunately. The food was fresh and tasty but very basic.

Yelp
Cool location and interior. Ping pong & arcade games available to play inside. Comfortable seating all over. Tasty food and drinks. Would recommend if looking for a good burger place.

Yelp
Good fresh food. Hit the spot. Service impeccable! Friendly ambiance with a great River view.

Yelp
Love the ambiance. The food is delicious as well! We went on a Sunday evening. You need to book ahead via open table!! Loved the place !

Yelp
The Butcher is very hip and cool place situated right on the water with a beautiful view on the promenade. It has lots of open spaces with clean lines and nice changes of lighting colors. It is situated on two floors with the upper floor a balcony looking down over the lower. I liked the vibe. This is definitely a place geared toward a social millennial crowd with lots of things to distract someone's attention like pool, foosball, ping pong and video games. Not sure if this is to take away from the "meh" food. We ordered the appetizer sampler with wings, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and fried squid "aka calamari" to start. I could have gone to the freezer section at a local grocery store and made better onion rings, fries and calamari. All of it lacked taste and just looked ordinary. The wings were bland and boring with no flavor and a bit over done. The three sauces were ok and did add some flavor but for 20 euros .... not impressed. My son ordered a burger and it was served in a brioche bun with cheese, lettuce and tomatoe. I did not taste it but he said it was good. I did have a few of his fries which were undercooked and a bit cold. Overall, maybe I would try a burger next time but the ambiance is enough to bring me back.

Yelp
I had an excellent burger and drink here but the waitress misinterpreted me. My phone battery had died so I couldn't scan the QR code on the tables. I went to the bar to read the paper menu and the waitress was promptly there to help me. When I explained why I was at the bar, because "my phone had died", she apparently took that as an insult. Maybe she thought I meant she made me wait a long time? That wasn't the case! Service and food were great but the waitress was now full of chagrin and couldn't smile anymore. She bad-mouthed me to other staff who then also treated me with contempt when I asked to pay. Weird! I guess the waitress had a really bad day. But it wasn't my fault. Enjoy the tip. I would have given more if she'd been more professional. Leave your personal issues at home.

Yelp
Recommended by the staff at the hotel we stayed in, we ordered several different burgers, shared and got to taste each. Everything was good - nicely seasoned, flavorful. meat was cooked just to our liking. Loved the appetizer sampler platter, especially the croquettes with various dipping sauces. Our waitress was patient and helpful. We didn't have outdoor seating reservation but the maitre d was kind enough to accommodate our request to be seated outside. We enjoyed the views of the docks watching the boats go back and forth the central station while waiting for our food. Mid-August late afternoon sun was perfect... not too hot not too cold with just a slight breeze. Was expecting to be expensive because of the location but happily it wasn't..price was reasonable compared to other restaurants. Overall was a great experience and would highly recommend. Tip: If you can, reserve outdoor seating in advance especially if you're expecting good weather.

Yelp
I do love burgers. This is one of the ships in Amsterdam from this very good small local chain. Well organized and super new and clean. It is all about the meat and the burgers.. which are just SUPERB!!! All the stuff that gets with the meat is great and super nice. Service is not the fastest but you really get great well cooked, as you asked, burgers. Self service and or pick up with the buzzer. You can basically sit anywhere in the ship which is really big with tables, sofas or just benches. If weather is nice, you can dine outside, right on the water.

Yelp
We (group of 9) did lunch here after our visit to A'DAM Lookout. We were accommodated right away and the staff was super friendly. Our waitress (wish I could remember her name) was awesome and made our visit that much better. The food was great, the drinks were even better. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
What a fantastic place to eat. Great of food and fast service and friendly staff too. There are not much places in Amsterdam you get an experience like this: Just be aware there are no parking facilities as this place is just walking distance from the ferry. They are also open for lunch.

Yelp
The Butcher social club is a great space, with a nice bar and plenty of seating, modern aesthetic and well placed for a venue if you happen to find yourself on the Noord-side of Amsterdam: located conveniently close to the ferry. Mind you, The Butcher is a chain. Don't be mistaken, you can find this same burger chain in multiple countries. The positive part of my review ends here but the following is equally hilarious: We ordered two burgers with drinks on a rainy afternoon and were greeted by a friendly, English speaking waitress. Our burger orders were specific and our drink orders were simple and off the menu. Drinks came out perfectly. The side of fries? They were ok. Burgers? Horrendous. We received absolutely charred, tasteless, bricks of meat. My significant other ordered a cheeseburger and there was no cheese on it! The buns and toppings were fresh, but honestly, we were _STUNNED_ by the fact that a burger restaurant with a bar, in Amsterdam, could even make the sordid mistake of serving food of this quality. And we had every intention of informing the wait staff of this issue. But no one came back. Ever. Seriously. So I walked up to the bar and pointed at my table. I just asked for the bill at this point. They rang me up for two drinks. They forgot about the burgers and the fries. They charged me about 8 Euro. I was blown away. So, via The Butchers own incompetence, I saved a bunch of money and didn't have to pay for one of the worst burgers l've ever had, anywhere. Come here for drinks. But skip the food. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is due to what I saved on my bill due to their own mistakes. Yes, it's really that bad!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to hang out while living in Amsterdam! Really good food and great atmosphere!

Yelp
Convenient location for lunch before visiting the A'DAM Lookout. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food here. The burgers had moist patties, fries were hot, wings were delicious, and we were all pretty satisfied with what we ordered. Smoothies were a little pricey for the size of the drink, though. But - FREE UNLIMITED WATER! That's kind of exciting after two weeks in Europe where asking for tap water isn't typical. Originally when my cousin asked to order, the waitress took his order and then left to put it into the computer without coming back to take anyone else's. We thought this was strange and asked another waiter, Alessio (sp?). He was wonderful and friendly and quickly helped take care of the rest of us. There are arcade games and board games around as well and we had a great time playing with them. Bathrooms from the hotel upstairs are very nice and clean. And since I was unable to visit Museum Square, I totally lucked out because there was a set of "I AMSTERDAM" letters right outside! The Butcher Social Club is a cool space and I recommend it!

Yelp
Firstly let me say, we stayed in the Sir Adam hotel which is in the building and I belive the bar may be affiliated with them as they use their room service. However I left a separate review for the hotel as they were truly 5 star. The Bar area which is as you enter, is beautiful, spacious and modern with lovely intimate seating areas and even hanging swing seats. We sat and had a drink there and it was really nice. Our only issues were with the restaurant part of it. The seating for eating is at the rear and is basically just high tables and stools, dim lighting and it feels like a totally different atmosphere to the front bar area. We ordered two burgers, and you are given a buzzer which rings for you to go to the window (much like a school canteen), and collect your meal. However when I went to collect our meal, one burger was wrong and I was told to just take the correct one and they'd bring the other one over when it was ready. I told them I'd leave both burgers and they could bring them together as I wasn't leaving my wife to watch me eat my burger while she waited. When we eventually got our meals (15 mins after they made mistake), my chips were cold. I suspect as my order was correct, they just left it sat there for 15 mins until the other one was there. All in all it was quite pricey and wouldn't recommend it for food. Don't let that put you off the bar are though, that's lovely!

Yelp
Very good for breakfast, especially if you are staying in the Sir Adam hotel upstairs. Eggs Benedict, assorted juice and smoothies, crossaints, coffee. Good place to catch soccer games in the evening, on the large projection screen.

Yelp
The drinks are excellent! It does take a while to get a beverage as this place is very busy all the time. Clientele is a mix of mostly tourists and trendy rich Dutch. Views are amazing.

Yelp
I stayed at the hotel here for a week. I came in for breakfast everyday. The food was awesome my favorite was the Spanish omelette or the pancakes. I came across the nicest staff here. Eleni was a great help she was very nice funny and polite couldn't of asked for a better experience.
google avatar

Angelynn J.

Yelp
The food here was pretty good but the service could've been a little bit better, I felt like the waitress was all over the place with bringing our drinks and letting us know that we had to go downstairs to give our order.
google avatar

Yelp
So it's unfortunate that there are so few reviews and the scores are so low. I'm giving them 4 stars based on a global assessment of the venue. The Butcher is a pretty solid social club and restaurant. The burgers were fine. I added bacon and a fried egg to my burger and while the bacon wasn't as crispy as I was hoping, the egg was perfectly yolky and delicious. The milkshakes were a little on the small end but they tasted great. The bar is full service and the prices are reasonable, I got Heineken stein for 5-6 euros. Now the ambiance is awesome. Way cooler than your average hotel bar/restaurant. Ping pong tables, arcade games, lounge chairs, live DJ, sports game running. It's all there. I honestly think the ambiance going on in this hotel restaurant is what the W chain hotel is trying to go for in their model. But at the end of the day Sir Adam/The Butcher are able to execute it correctly. If staying at Sir Adam, I would have no qualms coming back for a burger and beer while hanging out in an awesome ambiance.

Yelp
Great service. I went late on a Friday night. The cocktails are pricy but STRONG, worth the price. I was more disappointed on the social aspect. The people working were amazing but no one else really socialized.

Sinead R.

Yelp
Nicest burger i've had. Great value for what you got. Very nice inside and staff were friendly. Service was quick. Great view of i amsterdam sign.

María Belén B.

Yelp
Cool design and awesome view! The Butcher has the best (BIG) burgers (meat, chicken, lamb, spicy, vegan...) and delicious (sweet potato) fries!. It operates kind of like a fastfood restaurant (self pickup) but where you can have also cocktails (Yummy). Great stop if you are going to the ADAM Lookoout or the eye film museum.

Lylynn V.

Yelp
We came here for lunch before heading up to the lookout and I wish that we could have stayed longer to experience the night-scene as the place had a very casual, comfortable, hip lounge-feel. Drinks and food were delicious; highly recommend the fish and chips as it was one of the best that I've ever had.
