I have tried both Coolvines and Maxwell Alley locations. The baristas are always friendly and happy to serve which is what makes it a pleasant experience here every time. The coffee, OMG! Iced Strawberry Matcha and Pumpkin latte are my fav. I always prefer the pistachio milk!! Madelines were amazing too… coolest cafe in JC

My first time here . We got cortada and the fall specialCoffee ( the first one from the list) both were good . We tried the almond croissant and it was delicious . The pastries are at 50% off here after 4 pm . Good service as well . I liked the ambience as it was at one of the corner of that big shop with wine variety .

Might be on something. Needed to hand wave while standing over the counter before she realized I'm even there. Then imagine you said nitro, rather crisply and the person somehow hot coffee. Then you clarified before it was too late. Multiple times. They still didn't get it. Nitro can't be confused for regular coffee unless you're stoned or have no English language but even then coffee and nitro doesn't sound the same.Then you pointed to it on the sign. They came out of the counter to read it for themselves. Entered it right on the machine. You're relieved.. for a second. It's $7 which is steep enough but you think maybe it's worth trying once to find out. Then they probably need to pour you a cold brew with a ton of ice. I gave up. This review is what you're getting for hiring as you have. Sit in your store for an hour or two on random days and assess the team.

I'm a little confused about how to rate this place. My overall experience was positive, and I really love this cozy and stylish wine and coffee shop. However, the coffee I had here was just okay. Apart from that, it's a nice store with a lovely atmosphere and a small seating area consisting of a couple of tables by the window where you can enjoy your coffee. They also have a variety of snacks and other drinks in a small fridge. I would recommend visiting this store as it is generally a lovely place. However, there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to the coffee.

I don’t know which coffee shop is in the photos, but it isn’t the one I visited. The selections are minimal, the coffee is terrible and the ambience is nonexistent. It’s a store within a wine store, (you can see the wine bottles within my photo) and it occupies a very small corner of the wine store. It’s a grab and go store with one large dining style table, a small table and bar stool single or two. There were just a few pastries on the counter and pre-made sandwiches in a cooler when I was there, so I don’t understand how they serve food. I wouldnt be so harsh if the website wasn’t overly spectacular with great photos - to me that’s a bait and switch. I had a cappuccino that literally tasted like raw, bitter, acid espresso beans. I get tired of the “instagram photography” these days. It’s located in an apartment complex which could be the reason for its sparseness, nonetheless, it’s no bigger than an airport coffee and snack stand-alone. It’s a counter with grab and go items in an open fridge. I think it occupies 150-200 sq feet. It’s really not a place to sit down and have coffee, more or less a grab and go. Big time PASS.

The best coffee I've had. It was so rich it was almost dessert.. amazing. Dog friendly bonus.

You look ostentatious in your desire to control and censor someone’s contributions to Google maps. I’ve lost interest to your place and I won’t recommend it anymore. I ordered a vanilla latte here. Service was quick but latte was okayish. It lacked flavor and was too watery for my taste.

Wonderful little coffee nook inside CoolVines. I was looking for coffee at 7 pm and didn't want Starbucks or Dunkin'. Butler came in clutch! The woman helping me was friendly as can be, and the americano I ordered was spot on. There was some seating available, if you needed it, and their menu boasted all the traditional drinks (matcha included!). Check 'em out!

The coffee was normal, nothing exceptional. We ordered a latte but the guy made a cappuccino by mistake. So, I'm not impressed with the service. The ambiance was decent and there's lots of seating area!

Very special place, inside an old restored building, and adjacent to A nicely designed wine and cheese deli store. OK they're in a cute corner on the floor the cafe serves great coffee! The decorations also very nice and pleasant, nice ambience.

It's a small place with Cool vines next to it- my personal fav spot for coffee. Excellent Lattes and a great place to catch up with my girlfriends while playing board games and having a chat with the barista. Great service with a beautiful smile I asked a lot of questions about the coffee they use and I was given all the answers with a lovely smile back from the Barista. I highly recommend this place in my neighborhood

Really got to give these folks a signal boost. This is a very nice cafe a short walk from the Metro Plaza and a must stop for anyone interested in great coffee and a mid-high end grocery run. Their coffee is quite bold and well priced for a more craft coffee experienced. It is a HUGE plus that they are open til 8PM. They also sell their beans by the bag and will grind them how you wish (little pricey, but worth it). The other 3/4 of the space is used by a shopping mart, with most of it being used for great wines and liquor. Every type of wine you'd like, they have it, as well as the foreign specialties. It's a real treat to see. Exceptional note to their "groceries". They focus on high end products that are a bit harder to get outside of a Whole Foods. If you like truffle and foie gras, stop here. Overall, nice find and a good place to hang on an evening before dinner.

Cute little place. One section has a coffee shop with a small amount of seating, the other section is a wine shop with a little nook for gifts.

Good coffee, meh service. I came in on a Sunday afternoon to knock out some work while enjoying a cup of coffee. I ordered an iced caramel latte and Juan Dulce cookie. Both the cookie and coffee were very good, but also kind of pricy (~$7 for an iced latte). There are many places in JC with coffee equally as good if not better at a more reasonable price point. If you are just looking for a quality coffee pick me up, I'd try somewhere else. The real stand out factor of Butler cafe, in my opinion, is its indoor seating area. It is surprisingly one of the only cafes in my nook of JC that has and is open for indoor seating. The cafe area was also empty and quiet - perfect if you are trying to get some work done. $7 for a quiet, secluded work space is not so bad. They also have a bunch of board games available to play which I thought was a fun idea. The biggest negative and primary reason for 3 stars was the service. Since it was my first time here, I had some questions on the menu which the barista could not be bothered with since he responded with short, curt answers. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but came off super rude. It was also kind of weird that none of the staff knew the password for the free wifi...luckily they were able to figure it out before I left. *responding to owner* The $7 was based on what my friend who accompanied me ordered. She had an iced vanilla latte (no milk substitute) and no cookie. What's more concerning is that she may have been overcharged then.

Good cappuccino. This is a small cafe inside of Cool Vines offering a straightforward coffee menu and some pastries. Most people grab drinks to-go, but there are a few small tables if you wanted to sit down here.

New to area and decided to walk down a side street instead of up Christopher Columbus.. definitely worth the new route..stumbled upon Cool Vines and found this little cafe inside..like that you can sit inside with window views for a quick latte..will be back to try cold brew which I saw someone else order that looks good too!! Wonderful place to hang out and have some good coffee. And the places has interesting games to play if interested, a wide variety of craft beers and food. Friendly staff tops it off - the service was great. They will even cool your beer while you are having your coffee. It's a go to if you're in the area.

Aesthetically, this is a really lovely place to meet a friend for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Think exposed brick, old timber and cool concrete floors. They have a legit espresso machine and an excellent curation of chocolates. I'm not giving 5 stars because they don't quite have the outlet situation sorted and they don't have enough customers yet to have a good non-pastry fresh food assortment. Otherwise really relaxing and pleasant cafe to work in.

Disgusting. Too bad this is the only coffee shop open late in NJ. It's inside of a wine shop on the right hand side. Literally walked into the shop 7 minutes before closing because I had a long drive and needed a pick me up. Instead of a hello how are you from the guy behind the counter, I get um you know we close in 7 minutes. No really sir?? Lol. Anyway, I opted to try a vanilla or caramel (can't recall) latte as I figured the coffee was probably cold and waiting to be poured out shortly. Whatever syrup they use is awful. Very fake tasting and waaayyy too sweet. The espresso was just eh as well.

I stopped here for a coffee after walking around the city with my camera all day. I was greeted by the world's friendliest dog, Roscoe. He belonged to a guest there. Coffee was delicious and the look of this place is very nice and neat and inviting. I would definitely go back in the future.

My first coffee with a friend during quarantine! Happy that this place is a bit isolated so I didn't have to worry about too many people being around. I also appreciated all the signs they had up informing people to wear masks - barista also had a mask on. Love that the cafe is combined with Cool Vines so half the area is dedicated to wine/liquor. I got the vanilla iced latte and a chocolate croissant for $8.50. Normal prices, normal items. Iced coffee was a great relief on such a hot day! I'd come back for coffee here just because it's a large space and never typically crowded

Cafe inside Cool Vines at Morgan st. Super cute, delish cappuccino and sweetest barista! Loved the biscoff cookie with the coffee and looking forward to tasting some tasty treats from Chocopain on a not so busy day.

The only thing that slaps harder than Muji's jokes at the crack of dawn are his lattes. Whether or not Butler serves the best coffee in Williamsburg may be a point of contention, but if you're grabbing a cup as a reprieve from solitude, Muji is your guy.

Perfect cafe down the street inside of CoolVines which I come to weekly or more. Loved the coffee and espresso bean selection at the cafe and they will even grind the beans for you if you have a typical coffee maker at home. Have never been disappointed with the selection that they have. Have also gotten croissants here for a quick breakfast on the weekend.

Coffee was not bad but service was terribly disappointing. They serve great coffee, a smooth, pleasant cup of coffee, which delivered as expected. But that's about where my experience ended in terms of positives. The barista was pretty rude and not very helpful to customers. When asked a question he responded back with short answers that weren't of any substance. He repeatedly asked us to check the board above our heads for the options, which would have been fine if the menu was clear. The menu was vague in that it only listed prices for some items, and even if you ordered the mentioned items, you were charged a lot more than the board read. I had a flavored latte which was based at 5.50 and 50 cents for the flavor at most, which by basic math is $6. I was charged $7. It was also not clear that vanilla in an latte was going to be 50cents extra while the "caramel" latte was $5.50 inclusive of the flavor. I also ordered with regular milk so it doesn't explain the pricing. The guy was not very clear/ helpful in the pricing either and seemed unbothered in giving any form of customer service. Honestly, not very pleased with the experience and not likely to return which is disappointing because I would have liked to have a cute sit down spot like this Cafe as a go to.

So now we have a dope espresso bar in a modern wine store. Love this concept. And we can sample some local artisinal brews without leaving! Also love the no-laptop policy! Brings back the good old days when people would actually read a book or talk to one another. Oh, and the coffee is legit.

The BEST Coffee in Jersey City is located at Butler Cafe inside CoolVines at the Modera building downtown. 40 Weight Coffee from Ithaca roasts them an exquisite blend that brings out the best in REAL coffee. If you want a maple pumpkin syrup infused "coffee" drink this is not the place. If you want a proper espresso, cappuccino, or just grab a robust flavored cup of drip on the way to work this is the place. Fresh pastries delivered daily from local bakeries is a nice touch. Oh and after 10am when CoolVines opens you can enjoy wine or beer in the cafe with NO corking fees. After work I grab some of my favorite craft beers from the store, then the cafe provides me a proper pint glass that I can pour into and start to unwind. Before or after work this is my spot!!!!

Butler Café you are totally incredible, I had a wonderful experience here yesterday. Definitely great value for the price. Every thing that I have ordered was really good and I would revisit to have it again! Staff are really helpful and service is really fast. Good luck Butler Café.

This is a great new Cafe for the neighborhood. The coffee, food and service are fantastic. They couldn't make it easier to enjoy a bottle of wine from Coolvines while enjoying tasty treats. This is a must try.

Love everything about this place! Amazing coffee great ambience and a good place to work out of
