Very cute/kitsch place in Amsterdam with great cakes and coffees. Do not only trust the menu, take a look in their display and let your heart guide you ;) but beware, it's more expensive than other cafés (€5 for a hot chocolate, while it usually costs around €3).

No wine as their menu offers. Only two type of cupcake , 3 pies and 1 cake to choice from. Decor is cute, however need to be replace as they use faux cakes. The deco cake are faded, discolored and a little dusty. Order the carrot cake it was ok but not fresh.

Love love love this place! Very eclectic and edgy, something you wouldn’t expect from a bakery. The Swedish Princess cake is an absolute must.

This is the nicest cake I've tasted in 20 years of my life. My life has peaked, and I will never taste a better cake. Thank you Cake Shop for opening my eyes and enlightening me. Yours, Toby.

Found it very expensive for what it offers. We played 32€ for three regular cakes and three lattes. The taste is very average to low for being a 'cake' cafe. The coffee was also not good. So if you are a coffee or cake lover, I advise you to stay away from this place and use your money in something better.

This place is always popping it seems. Love the look and the decor, the cakes are good too. Come for a treat at tea time and try anything that suits your fancy, everything seems really well made, with love and care. Helpful servers too, will answer all questions and help you make decisions. They are good with kids here as well

Yelp
Such a fun place for cake and tea! The decor is over the top, you could entertain yourself just looking at all of the crazy cakes. The atmosphere is a cross of Dr. Seuss, the Mad Hatter and a little girls tea party. So fun for an afternoon pick me up! This place was busy the two times we have been there, but people are normally pretty friendly and will allow you to share the larger tables. They close promptly, so get there a bit before closing if you don't want to miss out!

Yelp
I've had this joint on my to-do list for Amsterdam for some time but never made it in until recently. We stopped in one afternoon, more to get out of the cold rather than a desire for sweets. Still, we ordered a coffee, hot chocolate and a slice of pie. We found it to be a bit pricey and the quality just "meh." The hot chocolate was disappointing as it was not very hot at all. The pie really did not have much flavor. The place is kitschy inside but didn't seem very fun. I couldn't put my finger on it but there wasn't a "happening vibe." Now that I've been, I won't need to go back.

Yelp
While vistiting Amsterdam, you should definitely visit The Taart van mn Tante, which can be translated to The Pie of my Aunt. This small, cosey, cute place in the area of the crowded Museum Quarter and famous Albert Cuyp market, as well as my house, is always packed with people enjoying a relaxing mid-afternoon tea with one the broad range of homemade cakes on the side. The fairytail decor of unique, special cakes makes you even wanna try more! I tried them all..and to tell you the truth, they are all extemely delicious!! Varying from chucky chocolate to creamy caramel, topped with whipped cream...Everything is possible!

Yelp
Super cute place! The atmosphere was so retro and I felt like I was in the 50s here! And the blueberry bavaroise cake was so good!

Yelp
3.5 stars Cute, kitschy cake shop. That was probably where I went wrong because I just couldn't resist ordering the apple pie (dutch) and it just didn't stand up to the other apfeltaarts I had in other spots in Holland. The cappuccino was excellent. I would return and definitely try the various cakes offered. Btw - just in case you were wondering if it is possible to survive a week on Heineken and apfeltaart, it is. Trust me.

Yelp
Yummy cakes served in a place that's very whimsical but maybe a little over the top in its femininity. That said, there is a real sense of humor here and is nice. The cakes are top quality but aren't served with arrogant pomp. The cake slice I had was called "Chocolate Slut," which was a rich chocolate cake topped with dried cranberries, chocolate drizzles, and freshly whipped cream. It was very good and I believe around 6 euros. Be advised, they take cash only.

Yelp
THE PLACE: Looks like the boudoire of the guys in "Bird cage"!! Hysteria galore!! Kitsch, funny, great for kids parties and sitting down with (a group of) visiting friends. FOOD: Tea's are the usual brand with a teabag, Organic apple juice, Cake that is good but not great. STAFF: Slow, they know that they have something special. Not in a hurry to do anything. I walked up to the counter a few times P.S.... It's hysterical! Dolls, crazy stuff, birds and art work with penisses of you know where to look

Yelp
For a long time, I was very curious about this place. I was hopping to find not only a cool looking cafe but also outstanding flavors ; considering the popularity of the owner. Sadly enough, I was very disappointed. The place looks very nice and has an awesome deco but Im afraid that's about it. The service was bad, the girl came as soon as we sat and even if I mentioned that I wasn't ready to order and I wanted to check the menu she stood up there waiting until we made the order. This was quiet unfordable and we had to pick fast. In general I dislike this kind of behavior. We ordered a pot of tea which was only a regular tea bag that I can buy at the shop. Honestly, I prefer special teas like they offer at several "tea tuins". I had the chance to try the carrot cake and the chocolate cake, they were nothing special, not even average for sure I had better cake. Cakes were way overpriced for what they were and the size that you get. They should definitely work a bit more on the flavors. Apparently, they attract a lot of kids and the owner who was there at the time was been friendly enough to pose for the pictures with his little fans. That's really cool

Yelp
Oh this is the cutest place in Amsterdam. I went this afternoon for tea and cake. It's kitchy and fun! There were so many delicious choices it was hard to choose. The appeltaart & truffeltaart were very delicious with a pot of tea between us. We sat inside but there were a few tables outside. I will be back very soon to this cute little cake parlor From the website, I found out they even have a bed & breakfast, A Cake Under My Pillow. How cute!

Yelp
During 7 days in Amsterdam we fitted in 3 visits - does that say it all? A quirky, tranquil place to stop for tea, coffee and cake. Always busy-ish and offering a wide selection of cakes/tarts decorated in a unique style. Staff were friendly, the pace is not rushed and a wide section of society seems to enjoy this lovely venue. There's a B&B called Cake under my Pillow run by the same couple. Definitely worth at least one visit.

Yelp
I was told this is the BEST cake place in all of Amsterdam! I've had their cakes 3 times, always to go, and while I think they are pretty tasty, they aren't the best I've had and range from average to good. I'd definitely go there again to order a cake for a birthday or event since they have a good selection! The decor is quite nice though... like a crazy kid's play room!

Yelp
I've been to this place several times in hope that I will enjoy it as much as I think I should, but alas, I always leave just a little disappointed. The decor is brilliant and I love the grandma's living room vibe the place has. However, where they don't deliver is on the product. The cake is good but it's not amazing. And frankly, for the amount of money you are charged for it, it should be amazing. The drinks also leave much to be desired, again considering the price. I think if this place stepped it up, just a little, it could be fantastic. Though, despite that, it is something that I will probably still go to from time to time.

Yelp
Kitsch and totally over the top - we loved the décor - think psychedelic-tinged Mad Hatter's tea party (and then add some completely random accoutrements). Cakes were very nice (around 5 euro each) - the cheesecake was the standout, though we were very disappointed the Chocolate Slut wasn't available - and there was the standard selection of drinks. Definitely worth a visit for the décor alone!
